Debenhams in South Tyneside

Called in here for a quick cuppa and also had an orange and chocolate muffin. Cafe airy and light but noisy with children running about and crying. Would visit again when quieter.

Enjoyed shopping here in this store. Ggot some great bargains lots to see and buy. Great Offers instore

Popped in for coffee and a scone. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Scones were large, fresh and coffee good. Watched the staff helping other customers to their tables, and tables were being cleared quickly.

Food average , service quick, will return.It caters for mums and young children, has a microwave oven, lots of high chairs and a play centre.

Whilst shopping in-store my better half being hungry, decided we'd try the food here. I opted for the pork dinner and he would have the steak and ale pie with chips/peas. The pie was not great he declared. the pastry.. soft as if it had been warmed up in a microwave and the chips tasteless. The peas he said had a strange aroma and also tasteless. My pork dinner was plentiful with a large serving, I enjoyed the roasted parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, pork crackling and dauphine potatoes. There was a mixed veg combo which would've been frozen I suspect. For the price it was Ok but I doubt I would repeat the experience..The service was good though.

Annual Christmas shopping trip, which is pre-planned and always commences with breakfast - decided on Debenhams for convenience as restaurant on top floor a short walk from car park. A pretty good selection where you choose and pay for the number of items on your plate. Everything I selected was pre-cooked, looked pretty fresh and I went for a full breakfast, minus the beans as it’s not an item I personally consider as breakfast so early in the day. Food was good, service excellent from attentive and friendly staff although I would suggest they prepare the toast on demand as the bread could be toasting and fresh as you make your choices.

Nipped in for a coffee while browsing the ladies wear and was pleasantly surprised had a latte and daughter had caramel latte which she said was lovely will be back staff were helpful and friendly

Me and my mother were shopping in debenhams when over the mic announced a carvery sandwich, it made us hungry thinking about it so nipped up to the restaurant. We both ask for a turkey carvery with you only get a while/brown Baguette garden peas with jug of gravy. I would of thought you would of got a bit of veg with being a carvery but had to pay extra bit of a con if you ask me.

Watery frozen veg that was cooked to mush complimented by turkey drier than the Gobi desert topped with a bomb proof Yorkshire pudding and a bullet of stuffing. No roast potatoes left which was probably a blessing. All for about the same price as John Lewis which is 1000 times better. I would rather cut my own foot off and eat it than return here.

An average department store restaurant. Not a bad place to take break for a coffee while shopping and clean enough but the cooked dishes are nothing special.

I called in for a bacon sausage and mushroom sandwich to go with a cup of tea while shopping today. It hit the spot as I sat watching the rain fall.

Had Christmas dinner... child size portions 8.95 not very nice either the lady actually counted my sprouts ??? Do not go disappointed

The service here was so bad. We waited in the queue for 20 minutes - which is absolutely ridiculous. Twenty minutes! No word of a lie. There was no urgency in the staff. Giving we were in a rush it was then frustrating to eat my food at a fast pace. Wouldn’t return.

Stopped here for a snack with young children travelling back from Scotland. Took over 30mins to eventually be served when children’s meals eventually arrived I asked where garlic bread was and waitress said we haven’t got any, I said I wasn’t told that when ordering only to be told she didn’t take my order!! Rude, got replaced by chips wasn’t the point, very disappointed in Debenhams, in Lincoln it is always excellent service!!

Visited for a snack lunch whilst shopping at the Metro Centre. We had 2 toasted cheese sandwiches and 2 cups of coffee. The sandwiches came as they were without benefit a leafy garnish or a few crisps. For this we were charged £4.10 per sandwich. The "large" coffees were £2.70 each (approx.) and were no more than medium sized (compared to the "soup-bowl" size available elsewhere). We shall not visit again. Disappointed to say the least. I would have expected better from Debenhams.

We’ve been here twice this month by chance and been really impressed both times with how lovely, helpful & friendly the staff were. They couldn’t do enough for us & the customers who came in after us - from helping with selecting breakfast items and bringing out fresh ones to serving orders to tables then nipping back to bring cutlery or butters,etc for customers who had forgotten to fetch for themselves. Bright & cheerful with bit of chat as we passed along the counters.

Popped in for some lunch are a visit to metro centre, prompt service and reasonably priced. Try the beef chilli jacket potatoes with gaucamole and nachos.. delicious

Came in this afternoon for a coffee while the other half was shopping. Fast and friendly service from the staff. When my partner had finished shopping we had a quick bite before leaving, food was fresh, hot and tasty.

We called in for lunch as we were in the store, I wish we hadn't bothered, the food was terrible, the tables are too close together and everywhere is cramped, the whole layout reminds me of a school dining hall. The only good thing is...

Just ordered a coffee and a scone, nothing wrong with either, however, the chocolate for the top of the coffee was in the restaurant 2 floors up so the assistant had to phone for someone to bring it down!! Really!! in a coffee shop? Should be better organised. OK for a break from shopping.

We have been here a couple of times & always found the service & products acceptable. Good value & clean.

I had lunch here on two consecutive days. The first day it was the porc carvery and the second day I took the turkey carvery. Definitely not expensive (7.69) and you get a full plate of meat and vegetables. It tasted well, was quite hot and quite enough for me. The thing that they could improve on is taking away the deserted trays a bit faster.

Called here for lunch around 1pm. Brie cranberry tart with chips and green beans was inedible because chips were cold, green beans full of water (presumably frozen) and newly defrosted tart blistering hot and completely tasteless. So disappointing and certainly a good reason for having lunch elsewhere in future.

Visited with my husband debs Gateshead about 2 ish. Organised no chance, staff running about like headless chickens. Food had been standing a fair while so didn't look appetising. My cottage pie tasty. Husbands fish and chips poor. They were a crating around for chips, peas. I asked for extra gravy slopped into a a jug dripping down the sides. Not presentable. We waited ages in queue to be served 2 couples left. Then join another queue to pay all the while food getting colder. Apparently it's been manic. Well I expect to be served reasonably quickly. I don't want to see staff panicking and running about. Coffee and cake next time. Won't bother with hot food. Shame really.

Goats cheese salad is amazing, so are the staff, they are so helpful, push buggys to tables, bring coffees over if you are carrying a little one without being asked, nicest bunch of people, and the kids love picking their own pack lunch choices themselves x

Went for a quick lunch with my parents and was confronted with a depressingly poor selection of sandwiches, harrassed staff and unwashed cutlery. Not be going again.

went for lunch with a friend and was offered the left overs from earlier part of the day,not a great start so asked if i could order items and was told no as they only had two hours to go before they close and everything was cleaned.i then heard in a rough voice,nah,nah.nah cos i want to get home,cos I've got a party to go to.....not great and will not be back,should be ashamed of such poor service...

Went for lunch with my parents on a very busy Saturday. Service on offer was good considering the cafe was packed out full of families. Ordered the fish and chips which were magnificent for a 'cafe'. Tartar sauce was incredible. Never really go to Cafe's for meals but this was a very good one to go to.

okay for a cup of tea and a snack, tables are clean but we noticed the odd chip on the floor around our sitting area, which is enough to put anyone off.Will not be going back
