Completely fine, no problems, nothing too luxurious but did the job well. The restaurant was nice, rooms were spacious, in a good location too to travel around the Cotswolds.

It was a below average experience. The room was spacious, but we ran into trouble. Our room had a broken safe, and in trying to find a room with a working safe, we were sent up and down to multiple rooms without success. We eventually just gave up!

Lovely night away with some incredible scenery! The spa treatment and pool was perfect. The food was really good with a good selection of drinks and service was faultless! Unfortunately the room was unbearably hot and sleeping was impossible. The room could really benefit from some air-conditioning. The price paid for the room AC should be there, instead we had a standing fan and small windows that only opended a few inches. I would recommend a visit just prepare for a sweltering room. A return visit is doubtful from us for that reason.

The place is very beautiful and safe and there are no problems. The staff are helpful and friendly. The resort has many activities and the lakes are wonderful. The place is recommended for families. I gave it 4 stars because the place lacks restaurants and groceries. It has 4 restaurants, 3 of which have a bad rating. There are no groceries in the resort, and there is no taxi or Uber service available. There is a lot of it, and if you do not have a car, you may suffer

Way too much money for what you get. We had a room with a view. Yes, the view towards the lake is beautiful, but special to say the least. It is a warm room where only some upper windows can be opened. If you open the windows you constantly hear the neighbors downstairs who sit on a kind of continuous terrace (they have paid a lot more money) so to sleep the windows have to be closed. Also keep the curtains closed because everyone looks in as soon as you turn on the light. No air conditioning, so the cheap fan has to provide some cooling. Staff that is friendly but completely incompetent. Bed too soft but that is a personal taste. The positive thing about this hotel: that from now on I'm sure I'd rather spend an extra hour looking for something decent.

A stunning location. However, the hotel is struggling to keep up with it's 4 star rating as things were a bit shabby around the edges. I think the staff were struggling to cope with the sheer number of guests- there was a prom, an awards ceremony and a wedding in the space of 2 days, plus loads of guests just having a weekend break. There was peeling paint in the bedroom and the curtains were hanging off the hooks. The apartment smelt of smoke. The spa was too busy to be relaxing, and they had wallpapered over some tiles, which was peeling off. The changing rooms were dirty. The bar had a massive queue and the staff were rushed off their feet. The complimentary shower gel was heavily watered down. We did enjoy the stay but I think the senior management need to invest in more staff if they're going to charge top price on a busy weekend.

We spent 2 nights at the De Vere Cotswolds and would say it was ok but not great. The hotel itself is massive, and there is lots of parking including one electric charging spot. There is more electric charging directly nextdoor to the hotel at the 720 Pizzeria car park which we used as the hotel charger did not seem to work. Our room was fine, however as we were in a self catering studio room getting fresh towels/bedding or having your room cleaned as you generally get in a hotel daily cost extra. Although there is a swimming pool on site, this is not accessible for hotel guests. Only those who have paid for a spa package (most of which are around £100) have access to the pool for one hour a day. I can see this making sense due to the huge number of guests... but the pool features heavily in their advertising (plus the first sign as you drive unti the hotel is a picture of the pool) therefore I feel they are misleading a lot of guests who would arrive hoping to access the pool. For those looking to swim, there is an outdoor swimming pool in Cirencester which was lovely and £6.50 per adult. There are 3 restaurants on site which they encourage you to book when checking in, however due to them all having mixed reviews on Google maps and an average of 3 stars yet being really expensive (£19 for a veggie burger) we did not use them. However, I would really recommend 720 Pizzeria which is directly next to the hotel and you can access it through the hotel car park... they have a pizza van and outdoor seating with a bar!! The location was decent, but note pretty much all of the local pubs and the hotel restaurants are not open at lunch time, so finding food in the middle of the day that wasn't a co-op proved tricky. Would recommend The Lodge at Lake 12 which is just opposite the hotel... they are a cafe open all afternoon and servicing nice street food. Additionally, Carlé's Coffee is round the corner and they had an all day breakfast and lunch menu. We found it difficult to contact reception via phone, with neither of the phone in our room working and no one answering when we repeatedly called from our mobiles, guess this may be linked to being such a big hotel.

The boardroom we used was delightful with a balcony. Overall, I loved it, thank you. Will return.

Thought I’d quickly add a review whilst sat in a nice spot on the decking, outside our room. Here for a wedding and having a lovely time so far. Despite the size, I’ve found it quite peaceful and relaxing sat outside our room. The odd person comes past, as they walk from their room to the dining area or back.. but there is the sound of trees rustling and birdsong, so the traffic on the nearby motorway can be tuned out. Had dinner at The Boathouse last night: I had crayfish and prawn cocktail on a beetroot bed, beautifully presented, although perhaps the thousand island could have had a bit more of a kick, with a touch of lemon, Worcester sauce or mustard powder? Still very good. Then I had the pearl barley risotto with beetroot (ate lots of beetroot yesterday!) and vegan feta which I was curious to try - I think it must have been the cashew nut version as it was super creamy and delicious and dare I say nicer than normal feta, which I can find a bit too tangy. Breakfast was great - they’re catering for large numbers but doing it very well. I really enjoyed granola, seeds, dried banana and yoghurt with a touch of oat milk, fruit juice (blueberry!) and a decent cappuccino (there’s a machine that grinds the beans, worth waiting for even if there’s a bit of queue). Hubby found his flat white a little bitter, but enjoyed the same ‘starter’ as me before his ‘main’ cooked brekkie. No lunch will be needed! Rooms are spacious and clean, with everything we need (we are pretty easy to please!). Some of the fittings in the bathroom look a little tired and not sure the fan in the bathroom is working as it should, but that’s no big deal to us. We didn’t have a plug in the bath when we arrived, but the reception were super helpful with finding one for us (gotta take advantage of a bath, when you’re a boat dweller!) Giving 4 stars for Rooms, because whilst I’m aware we have been lucky with our room location and appointment, some of our relatives have been less fortunate and have a car park view (although I appreciate its luck of the draw) and an issue with bath not draining so unable to shower, so their stay has been not quite perfect so far. I guess I’m such a large place with multiple rooms, you are likely to get issues like this, but they’ve been particularly unlucky. Having said that, we are loving it, especially the pool and sauna, and ice/water bucket, which were glorious after a run in the sunshine around the lake and down the river, earlier this morning. Looking forward to the wedding tomorrow.

Dated rooms and general decor. Shower in room not hot enough, reported it to reception who said they will send someone but seems nothing was done as it was the same the next day. Soap/shampoo dispensers don’t work properly. Breakfast average at best. The biggest issue is that they charge if you want to reserve a slot in the gym or pool…seriously? Why not just a refundable deposit? Just a way of fleecing their customers. Location is nice and the grounds are well maintained. Can’t really recommend this place and I would look elsewhere for your vacation as this hotel is simply not worth the premium fees.

Beautiful location and very well presented hotel inside and out. The surrounding walks and lakes are ideal for entertaining those with children and dogs. The decoration has a modern / beachcomber feel with lovely reception, bar and airey feeling. Priced well and accommodates guests with dogs which is why we booked! Our standard quest room was big and clean. Bathroom was a little tired, but it wouldn't put us off booking again. We only spent one night as we travelled back from Cornwall, an ideal half way point and break from the M5 slog. Reception staff were very friendly.

NOISY NOISY AND NOISY We booked this hotel as the website would lead you to believe that you would be in peaceful surroundings..a relaxing getaway. Infact right opposite our room the hotel had booked out the whole top floor to a party of people. I fully understand and ignored the music and screams from the balcony, then at 1130pm I went downstrairs to check it would be over by 12am ( assuming it would as with all other places , worldwide, we have ever stayed ) I was told by reception that they would check and call me...they never called and at 12.15 I had to get up get dressed and I went back downstairs only to be told the event would not finish until 2am! The entire break we had looked forward to was ruined. We were exhausted the next day and couldnt wait to leave. This place ( well management ) are only interested in making money and have no regard for the guests....AVOID

A lovely hotel in a lovely location, but; The Bar Surprised to see the hotel bar close promptly, unannounced at 11pm. On checking I was told that a staff member had been to all tables to advise everybody of last orders; this simply didn’t happen hence why would I have asked? Only bottles service available after 11pm. Breakfast Booked time slots don’t seem to change the fact that it’s very busy with queues for everything. But it’s clean, tidy and the breakfast is reasonably average. However picking a 09:30 slot the staff were closing up the breakfast area around 10:00 whilst we were still eating. Moving chairs to block off walkways thereby restricting access, Orange juice disappears without notice and hot glasses provided straight from the dishwasher for cold drinks? The room A lovely setting, a nice, clean spacious room and a good overall feel. Unfortunately woken up by a rather loud dog ‘chorus’ at 07:15. Summary The hotel is really nice but is definitely is missing a ‘customer first’ approach to communication in a number of areas! I advised my issues to Ben on checkout, he heard but wasn’t listening ….. Four days after the visit and no reply as promised hence the review…

Welcome to the playground! Wife and I had a 3 night stay here and this is an honest accurate review of the hotel. These are the negatives as it's always good to finish on positive comments. The room we had was very untidy and was in need of decorating. Two brown stains on the carpet next to the bed, god knows what that is. The room smelt stale and unclean. The bathroom, was an utter disgrace. Dirty, toilet cracked, sink wouldn't drain, sink was hanging off the wall along with some of the tiles. Fan didn't work so everything stayed wet. Soap dispenser didn't work but they managed to threaten you with a £30 fine if you were to take one! Bath was stained and no toilet brush. Kids are allowed to do as they please here so if you value a relaxing holiday, don't bother. Now I understand today's standards of parenting is way off the mark with little to no consideration for anyone else's enjoyment, the hotel staff allowed kids to shout and run around the place like a playground. A few times during my stay, 3 kids were racing around the reception area on scooters while OAP's, wheel chair users etc were trying to book in and go about there holiday. Nothing was said by the hotel staff! Amazing. Some little darling child that was unattended managed to get in the lift and got stuck due to the stupidity of the parents putting an arm in the lift door. After some time I offered some advice but was "refused" by the parents so the fire brigade was called. The fire brigade done exactly what I advised the parents and he was out in seconds. Shame they didn't listen to me as the kid spent 30 minutes in the lift as the hotel staff, as nice as they are, wouldn't stand up to the parents. This family was given a free meal that night! Mmmmmmm It seems the hotel staff are afraid to say anything to this unacceptable behaviour. Frightened of upsetting these inconsiderate families they choose to say nothing and allow others to become agitated and ruin our stay. The good points, the hotel staff were friendly, the food was fantastic and the parking was good if like me you are worried about getting your car damaged. Hotels need to up their game and consider all not just the entitled few!

Lovely area, beautiful place surrounded by loads of things to do if you can drive. Rooms are lovely and decent size but we unfortunately had a few minor problems that just disappointed me. The first being we booked a room for myself and a child. The child's bed was a very uncomfortable armchair pull out bed. Hardly any padding to it at all so my daughter had to sleep in bed with me. Shes a wriggler so I hardly slept the entire time. Second issue with the room was that the plug in the bathroom sink was stuck and wouldn't pop up so the sink was just filling up when we were washing our hands. Tried to call room service for help several times while my daughter was sleeping to sort it out but no answer. This was around 6/7 so I wasn't late. Luckily I had a nail file with me and it was just thin enough to get under the plug to get it out. Thirdly, room service to the room appeared very understaffed. I think over the 4 days we were there we only got through to one person when calling for room service. I had to walk to the bar (it was a long way with a toddler each time) just to get a drink. They said just press 0 on the phone and we will come and get it. Tried several times again but no answer. Another minor issue, but annoying, was when we ordered food at the bar. They brought some of our food out but forgot some, I had to go up to the bar and ask where it was. Then at dessert I again had to ask at the bar where it was as it had been around 45 minutes. When they brought it over they had our order wrong, it was just 3 scoops of ice cream but they had wrong flavour. Obviously my son (who was staying in my parents room) got upset as we had already waited a long time. The second time we ordered food at the bar it was great service, I wish I got the gentlemans name. He was a very polite, happy smiling man. He double checked everything with us and even came over to make sure we were happy with everything. If you have small children like me avoid the children's burgers off the kids menu, they are far too big and smothered in burger sauce. I honestly thought they'd brought us adult portions. Safe to say my kids didn't eat it. The second time we had the kids pasta and kids pizza. If you're kids are fussy, or in my case have ARFID, they were quite nice for kids. It was a lovely looking hotel, if you're going to visit maybe try to go when they are not so busy or without children. We won't be going back again, the little things add up. Next year we are going to try somewhere else.

Even though they were renovating the particular part we stayed in, the workers were extremely friendly and never worked early in the morning or late at night. The water park is lovely to walk around, and it is situated between 2 larger towns and the area has many restaurants and tea rooms which we investigated! Stay well AWAY from this hotel! It does not meet 4 star standards by any means. We were really excited to take our kids away for a few days and booked last minute. Went to check in and kept being told to wait 5 minutes although it was 3pm which is check in time. Went to our lakeview room, overwhelming smell of cigarettes and dog. Only to find that we were placed in a dog friendly room withiut being informed and we suffer with allergies. Carpet was filthy, crumbs and sticky feeling, a layer of dust on the fridge, poo on the loo roll, Dried up dog poo in one of the bedrooms, blocked sink, a toilet which didn't flush and another toilet which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week or two. After lots of calling, (which by the way, you have to call several times before you get through to reception) and complaining the manager Ben, said there was absolutely no way of moving us but we could the next day, but not guaranteed a time! After lots of frustration and back and forth, it turns out there was a like for like room available, but Ben did not bother asking housekeeping to priortise cleaning it until i made a fuss! Eventually got to a new room, ( which I'm sure would not have happened had i not made a fuss) Smell was still there, was slightly cleaner, told no pets allowed in this room but still found dog hairs. The Valves on all of the radiators were broken so this meant it was boiling hot and did not swtich off. The staff member said they had checked it, and suggested we should sleep with the windows open. Little was he aware of the fact that our apartment had doors in the rooms and we have 2 small children so this is unsafe. So we basically had to have super hot uncomfortable night sleeps for 2 days. The Towels stank! My husband pulled a chair out to sit on and the wood came into his hand. The kitchen was clean ish, but cutlery had to run through the dishwasher as it was all still dirty. All in all, this place is a joke! Never ever would I recommend to anyone, it's not even worth the hassle for the view!

A long awaited birthday trip away was sadly a big disappointment. We arrived to a massive queue upon check in which took around 40 minutes to get our room. Having paid extra for a dog friendly room, there was no bed or bowl provided on arrival we had to go back to reception and queue again to ask for it. The bed provided for our dog was covered in stains and was not safe to use without covering it. The room smelt like damp with very old and outdated furniture full of damages. Water damages seen throughout the walls a ceiling. Dried dog faeces in the carpet. Cob webs hanging from the walls. Bathroom full of mould and limescale. Cleanliness was non existent. Perhaps we would have accepted this from a budget hotel but we paid almost £500 for a 2 night stay and expected a 4 star experience. It was not worth it at all. My partner was denied use of a towel for the pool and scolded by the receptionist at the spa (middle aged lady wearing a blazer) despite us paying for a treatment and booking spa use in advance. There were piles of towels right behind her. He had to go back to the room to use the bathroom towel. We are unsure why this discrimination occurred. We had pre booked a spa treatment for the final day, only to receive a call 20 minutes before the start time telling us they could not do it due to staff sickness. I asked what compensation could be given, we travelled 3 hours for a spa weekend away and it was our last day, the lady replied with "there is nothing we can do". Only positive is the lake view which is beautiful. But unfortunately could not recommend this hotel after the awful experience we had this weekend. Extremely disappointed and not to the usual good standard of other De Vere properties.

Gorgeous rooms and good service. I’d stay again for the right price. The only negative was a loud dripping noise from a broken gutter above my room.

Wonderful, kind staff and beautiful location. Been here three times now! Would love to see more variety/boldness with the food and more user-friendly car charging (currently fiddly to use, slow and expensive).

Caution: The spa experience is no longer complimentary for hotel guests; you must book a treatment starting at £50. Despite having enjoyed the spa on a previous visit, we were unable to do so this time as all treatments were fully booked, which was quite disappointing. ( The website displayed full availability when browsing, but upon selecting a preferred time slot, it glitched and indicated that it was no longer available, despite appearing as a bookable time.) The room was nice with a lot of empty space. It could potentially do with a bit more furniture. The bathroom is in need of a complete makeover; the taps and showerhead were covered in limescale, and it felt grotty. I understand why there aren't any pictures of the bathroom on the website when booking. Also, something to note is that the walls are very thin; you could hear the other rooms switching light switches on, and we heard loud moaning and slapping while we were trying to relax in our room. It was quite embarrassing. At night, we could hear snoring quite loudly, so if you have children who could potentially be woken up by sounds, maybe reconsider? Breakfast - Overall, a good variety and tasted nice, but on the second day, I couldn't eat it since the restaurant was so hot! I was sweating at my seat. It wasn't pleasant. on a positive note the location is good, with lots of food options around and a Cotswold Outdoor store. The hotel bar is nice and relaxing. We stayed Thursday to Saturday, and the hotel is quite busy during the week with business events happening, so it felt a bit mixed at times with lots of people making phone calls and working, etc., in the bar/reception area. Overall, our experience was satisfactory, and I am hesitant to consider a return visit.

We had a gorgeous stay at this hotel and I would highly recommend it. I had booked a birthday weekend trip here as I’ve not been to the Cotswolds for many years and wanted to try this hotel after coming across it a while back. The customer experience was exceptional and they had really made an effort with the room by putting some birthday bits on the bed with only a days notice. The facilities are great with a swimming pool, gym, spa, restaurants and a few cafes on site. They also have Penhaligon toiletries in the rooms which is a nice luxury touch. There is a massive walking country park/beach not far from the hotel and you can hire the wellies which is great if you’ve forgotten walking shoes. An all round great hotel and I can’t wait to return to try the activities when it’s a little warmer. Thank you to Raj and the Housekeeping team for the beautiful birthday gesture.

My wife and I stayed there for three nights. Amazing view of the lake from our room. Service was excellent and breakfast was very good. I would have given 5 stars if the bathroom was in a better state. It needs replacing soon.

Overnight stay for a business trip (and have since looked to come back for a proper trip!) Friendly service at reception and from the staff at breakfast time! Room was a decent size, large comfortable bed and I had a balcony with a nice view of some water! Tea and coffee provided in the room (hidden in the wardrobe - I initially panicked when it wasn't on the side!) Clean bathroom and nice hot shower with good water pressure. Breakfast was amazing - so much choice! They had the typical cooked options but plenty of fruit and pastries too! Lots of juice options as well including lime, blueberry, and peach! Definitely a lovely hotel and beautiful area - want to come back!

Stayed here for the weekend. We booked a ‘deluxe room’ so we could have a bath instead of a shower except it didn’t have a bath. Advertised as a spa hotel but you have to pay for a £55+ treatment if you want to use the spa? The tv wasn’t a smart tv so we couldn’t stream Netflix which we would expect nowadays. Hotel was nice, room was large and the bar staff were pleasant but we wouldn’t choose to stay there again.

Smart room, decent size, great breakfasts and evening food. Access to swimming pool without treatment booking if not too busy. Pool area has sauna and other experience shower etc. Nice lounge area, good coffee from bar. You can walk from the door to Gateway and on to nice walks along the canal and round various lakes.

We eat here whenever in Tetbury. Excellent food, quick service and great choice. Staff usually good but today they were great. Quick, attentive and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Pizza's very good and very light base so although large you don't feel stuffed. Other food we saw come out including the specials looked very good. Butcombe Ale excellent

We stopped by as a group of 10 children and adults, a welcomed rest after a big walk! On ordering, the gentlemen serving was really helpful with allergies and alternative meals, as they were out of gluten free pasta. It was agreed my son would have a chicken burger with an alternative bun (as it contained egg). I was feeling confident. On serving the food, the lady delivering it brought 2 chicken burgers that looked identical to the table and said 'that's the different one' and promptly left. When she brought the next lot of food, I questioned this as was expecting one bun to be different, her response was very curt and dismissive, as if allergies were an inconvenience to her. My 4 yr old having a life threatening allergy, is not something I take lightly. Eventually, on the 3rd trip back out, once the food was already cold, she confirmed they were identical and both safe, again she was very rude in her tone. I appreciate they were busy, but this is no excuse. Overall the food was good, but I could not relax and enjoy the experience. The lady needs upskilling on her allergy awareness!

Nice café, with mismatched decor. Barely friendly waitresses. Don't think about paying with a 50-pound note, it's simply "No" Cinnamon roll not exceptional and neither is the hot chocolate. But the cafe is open longer than those on the same road.

Best place for a game of pool in Cirencester, pool tables could do with some TLC tho…
