De sandroes in Kirklees

2 x bland pizzas (seriously a slice of unbuttered bread has more flavour!), a “green salad” which contained lettuce, 2 pieces of cucumber & 5 slivers of pepper - for over £5. Glass of Pino Grigio £9.50 (not drunk as acidic) - feel like we’ve been robbed. Didn’t appreciate the staff squirting the tables next to us with cleaner whilst we were still eating. Told no coffee available after 10pm as “the Manager has switched the machine off”. Senior staff living off their reputation 45yrs ago & haven’t moved with the times. Owners need to visit other restaurants to see what good & great look like.

Amazed an Italian restaurant with a supposedly great reputation (?) can serve pizzas with soggy bases and devoid of any flavour. I’ve had much better for half the price. Also a bowl of salad leaves a few bits of chicken and grated cheese for £22!! Need I say more.

We had an unexpected overnight stay in the adjoining hotel, we decided to book the restaurant but advised by reception to book online as they could be very busy. When attempting to book there was a slot available but it was under the hour for notice purposes, it suggested calling instead which I did. The waitress on the call was very courteous and took our short notice booking. On arrival we were offered what area to be seated but as we had never visited before we left it to the staffs discretion. Once seated the waitress was very attentive and chatty (wish I took her name as she’s a credit to your restaurant) answered all questions we had. My children ordered the pizza, I had the pennette con pancetta pasta and my husband had the seafood linguine from the specials menu. The food was delicious couldn’t fault a thing. We ordered desserts which were also delicious. There was a wee blip when the waiter brought us the wrong dishes and looked mortified for doing so, that when he brought the right dishes he was clearly stressed, but it was no big deal to us nobodies perfect and it didn’t spoil the food! We will definately go out of our way (which is around 280 miles!) to visit again.

We have been dining in this restaurant for many years but off late the service is getting poor but last nights experience has been the worse , just to name a few concerns we had and I hope this feedback will help improve on the concerns we had The bottle of wine ordered was left by the waitress on the table with no courtesy to fill our glasses in the beginning ! One of the starters were brought much after the mains arrived ! The young waitress whose name I will not mention but we were on table 16 , kept asking if we are finished when it was pretty obvious that we were still eating ! , towards the end it felt as if we were rushed of out feet as the restaurant was also closing This visit will put me off De sandros for while unless the management are willing to look into the point I have raised

Absolutely fantastic welcome & honestly the best meal in a long time Starter trio of fish my husband had mushroom with pate . Main chicken Da Sandro & lamb chops ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful Sergio & Gianmarco remembered us from another restaurant. Absolutely amazing to see them again & to be looked after so well Lovely waiters very friendly & attentive. The wine was excellent & not overpriced Highly recommend can’t wait to return

Been here many times only just got around to joining tripadvisor to post some reviews. The food is always spot on cannot be beaten in my opinon. Was a little period of adjustment when a ot of the old staff left all at once but I think theyve found their feet again. The staff are all so friendly and seem knowledgable. Our waiter named Alex was attentive and polite. Efficient service from everybody and this place remains a firm family favourite.

Came for a family party of seven. Staff attempted to push us into bar for drinks rather than showing us to the table which seemed odd. Further attempt to take orders for drinks before we had even seen a menu. Waited 45 minutes for two plates of mixed antipasto to arrive -"they take a long time to prepare" ! - and then the mains arrived suspiciously quickly after the starters were cleared away. Scallopine di vitello was fine and a vegan risotto of peas and beans OK, but the only wood the funghi di Bosco had ever seen was if they had fallen on the floor and a mixed grill of fish had instead been fried in a lot of oil - but after such a long wait couldn't face sending it back. A lemon cheesecake was bland and certainly not di casa. Service perfunctory. Thin paper napkins. No grissini. Had to ask for bread to go with antipasti. At these prices not what you expect. Have spent quite a lot of time eating out in Italy. This place feels very onestop touristy.

This place has stood the test of time, I have been eating here for 44 years and the food & service is still very good. I have no problem recommending this place to anyone. It is nice to see Italian staff back serving so much better than the untrained English students that have been there over the last few years.

Have been a few times lately and I’m afraid to say they are too full of themselves. The customer service is really poor. It’s like they can’t wait to get you in and out again. Hardly any smiles or friendly chit chat. You would think they would make more effort considering the prices they charge.

I have a severe peanut allergy and was going out for a family meal at Da sandro a couple of weeks ago. I spoke with the manager Angelo on the phone ahead of our visit and he was really helpful and understanding. On the night,he came over himself to take our order and took extra care and attention when helping me select an appropriate meal. He made sure to effectively communicate my dietary requirements to the kitchen staff and I felt really at ease. The food was absolutely delicious and based on this experience we will now be regulars at Da sandro!

Went for lunch with a friend as Da Sandros is his favourite restaurant. I started with a huge, enjoyable Seafood Adriatica ; less octopus, and more mussels would have been my preference. I followed this with the cannelloni, which was ok, then the bread & butter panettone, which was a little dry. I think that they could source a better Merlot as my glass of it was very thin. Service was good apart from the fact they brought out the wrong dessert.

We always look forward to visits from our family, and one of the highlights is dining at this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making for a pleasant dining experience. However, we do have one major complaint – the price of the kids' pasta meal. At £10.50 for a small bowl of cheesy pasta, it's a steep price, especially considering this doesn’t even include a drink. Having dined at many kid-friendly restaurants around the world, we feel this one falls short in terms of value for money. While the overall experience is enjoyable, the cost of the kids' meals leaves a lot to be desired.

This was our first visit to the largely hyped venue and we left very disappointed, refusing to pay for one item of food due to the fact we couldn't eat it. The restaurant is so loud that chatting together was difficult, and the tables are as close together as possible which we found awkward. The funghi con aglio e crema was whole button mushrooms in a thick, yellow sauce with a look and flavour that brought back memories of Heinz macaroni and cheese. The ravioli Al funghi di bosco were so flat that I cut them open just to check there was actually filling inside, revealing a wafer thin spread of ricotta. The ravioli were served with whole cooked mushrooms loaded into the bowl, with the entire thing not sat in a sauce, but rather mushroom juice pooled at the bottom of the bowl. The zucchini fritti were actually very thick, bendy stakes of zucchini in the thinnest spattering of batter; not the fine, crispy fried zucchini they're supposed to be, and even the waiter agreed they looked far too thick and apologised. The pennette con pancetta and salsiccia piccante was essentially chopped sausage with rubbery pasta, all resembling pet food. The food came far too fast and was too rubbery for us to believe anything was fresh and felt more like we were eating old, ready-made food. A far cry from rich, Italian cooking and we won't be returning.

Went to this restaurant after hearing many good reviews, never again. Ordered the ravioli which was more like a starter than a main course, expensive as anything and it was swimming on some sort of mushroom water! Tastes bland with hardly any filling. No side accompaniments at all. Ordered profiteroles as dessert - 2 profiteroles for around £6,£7,two! Rip off. I seriously don't understand how this place is busy unless it's with those people who have never sampled good cuisine.

We went to celebrate my granddaughter’s 12th birthday. The restaurant was full to capacity and this impacted on the service. We had to ask to place our order after sitting with our drinks for 20 minutes. The food took ages to arrive but was the same high quality we are used to at Da Sandro’s. We had to ask to order desserts and these arrived without cutlery. The coffee my son ordered never arrived and we gave up on it in the end. Nobody seemed remotely interested in asking if we wanted a bill so we just got up. The waitress had a look of panic on her face and seemed to be updating the bill as we walked across the restaurant. We had to explain to the cashier where we had been sitting so we could leave. The staff were friendly but clearly inexperienced and over-whelmed with the task at hand. This was very disappointing after so many good experiences in the past.

Very busy place but very clean and friendly our granddaughter chose to come here for her birthday meal bless her she is only 7. But loves it here. I was going for one dish but was advised to go for a different one because it had more flavour. Wow I am so glad I went with it because it was absolutely delicious. The POLLO ALL' ORTOLANA is to die for. The whole meal was fantastic not only for me but the rest of our party, they all felt the same about their meals. We will definitely be returning.

Went there at Xmas and thought it was wonderful, good service , good food so thought I would treat the family, went last week so disappointed this time, staff were friendly but they forgot about us after our starters, waited half an hour then called someone across, the food was wonderful but this time smaller portions, watch the drink orders as it really bumped the bill up , only had 2 drinks each!
