I did not eat in I had delivery , the vindaloo was bland not taste to it, the chips was soggy and the rice was over cooked, I spoken to raj today and said he was sorry but didn’t want to offer nothing, have been here countless times but won’t be again. If I could give a 0 I would

Never had a bad meal! In fact the best curry and tikka lamb I’ve had. Delivery always friendly. The jalfrezi will blow your mind

Enjoyed our meal here, service was good and price was reasonable for what we had. The popadoms were served with lots of accompaniments which we thoroughly enjoyed. Starter and main course also tasty and good portions.

From the moment we entered we were welcomed. Given the option of where we would like to sit, great service and the food was amazing, good quality curries with plenty of taste we had the Pathia and Jaipuri as mains as well as side dishes which were all beautiful. Even the poppadoms came with an array of sauces which were all so tasty. First time visit 100 percent be back

King prawn Shirazi, (jalfrezi hot) Mushroom fried rice. King prawn madras with keema rice. Pickle trey. Absolutely fantastic !!!

Good service, good quality food and some unusual dishes I'd not encountered before. Everything was great, and cold draft lager. No problems, no hesitation to recommend, we will be going back.

Currently on holiday in this area and we thought we would try this particularly as it had some very interesting Bangladeshi dishes. Having worked in the country over a number of years, the ambience photos and friendly staff made us very welcome. Everything about the experience was exceptional. The staff, food cleanliness of the restaurant and facilities was brilliant. We went for chef recommendations and they were awesome. Clearly freshly constructed in the true Bangladeshi way. Fast and efficient service and excellent value. Can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you

The food here is the best indian in ashby, the curries are great and the service is amazing! Only thing is i can always taste fennel in the rice which is a shame as it overpowers everything else. Apart from that its brilliant

I ordered a “chef’s”special King Prawn dish and it is quite honestly the worst Indian I have ever had!! It tasted like dish water, but actually, I would have preferred that to the King Prawn dish delivered.

The food we had tonight was fantastic. We had the Chicken Sherazi and Anakarli Chicken which was cooked to perfection. Despite it being busy the service was good. Ali and his team were excellent. The food is always brilliant and well worth a visit if you want Indian/Bangladesh style food

So many times i have suggested that they are honest with delivery times, and too many times ignored. Shame really, as yes we might only be two people, but two professionals with many, many friends whom i would never recommend to ..... appalling way to treat any customer however small or large an order. Many, many years of loyal service, however, never again

Food excellent, we ordered Vegetable Rogan Josh and Chicken Sherazi with daal and coconut pilau rice and garlic/coriander nan. Our takeaway meal came with free onion bhajis and popadums with was a really nice touch. - Service was very friendly and accommodating- they are happy to make curries milder, highly recommended. For us this restaurant is the best in Ashby.

These guys are fantastic both takeaway and eating in (when lockdown allows!) The food quality is really good and their customer service is spot on. Best of its kind in Ashby and we’ve tried them all. Would highly recommend.

Amex listed site but did not accept the card. Clever ploy for business. Food special disappointing: king prawns chopped up, chicken tikka red, a lot of red colouring in food ordered, salad had half a slice of cucumber and lot of lettuce.

My friend and I booked a table for the evening of 25/08/20. We arrived and were greeted by a member of staff who showed us to our table. We were very impressed by the way the tables were arranged for social distancing and all the staff wore masks . We had our drinks while we looked at the menu and when the waiter came over after a few minutes we ordered our meals. After a few minutes our poppadums and pickle tray came. Just after we finished those our chicken bhuna and rice arrived. The meals were amazing. The rice and chicken was cooked to perfection. My friend said it was the best chicken bhuna she had ever had. I agreed with her. The whole experience was perfect. The staff were very efficient and polite even though they were very busy. Thank you to management and staff for a wonderful meal and experience at De La Zouch.

Although we've been managing well during lockdown, we just fancied a takeaway meal. Rang the restaurant to confirm they were doing delivery and then ordered online. Online order process was straightforward, confirmation e-mail sent quickly, and food arrived within their time estimate. And the food? Piping hot, good sized portions and tasted great. Any downsides? No.

This place was recommended to us and I can see why. Its the best Cuisine i have tasted and can certainly recommend them, food was piping hot when delivered and delivery driver was professional as was the gentleman who took my order. Five Star Cuisine.

Very good meal here last night. Prompt service, courteous staff and a nice atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable experience which I hope will be repeated on our next visits.

This fairly typical East Midlands Indian restaurant benefits from its location with numerous pubs and other (perhaps better) restaurants all on the same main road. I went on a Saturday night and we sat in the crowded upstairs. The table next to us was so close there was barely room to get through the gap between tables to sit down. The service was tragically slow and the general decor and toilet facilities in need of some decoration.That said, when we did get our food and drinks it was all very good and on a par with other Indian's in the East Midlands. The poppadoms were served with a good variety of dips and chili sauces and the mains (we didn't have starters, or we might have been there until midnight) were fresh tasting and spicy enough. The madras was rather mild compared to a lot of other places - so if you do want a kick ask them to spice it up.I would suggest that if you want to try this restaurant out go in the week not on a Saturday like we did. Although there are plenty of very good pubs nearby we did spend far too long drinking Cobra and flat coke staring out of the window wishing we could explore the pubs.

We’ve just had a takeaway from here, really enjoyed it, can’t believe we haven’t had a meal already from here. We ordered for a set time then went for a drink whilst we waited. Food ready on collection, friendly staff, the restaurant had a nice busy feel while we were there. Food was lovely, can’t realy fault it, with complementary poppadoms, pickles and 4 onion bhajis. Will defo use again.

First visit for me although heard good reviews. Food was delicious. Was busy but service was still good. And at reasonable price. Definitely be heading back again.

This is a great restaurant in the heart of a vibrant little market town. My partner and I enjoyed great food here and would highly recommend this place. We had poppadoms + dips to start. This was served with six dips; all the traditional flavours including a spicy apple dip which is very tasty. I had chicken sagwala and he had a chef special. I asked for extra heat and a little kick. The dish was perfect + not too hot + just what I was after. We were both impressed with our meals, the service and the restaurant itself. When we're arrived at 6.30pm there were only a few other couples eating and by the time were finished the place was packed + buzzing. This place is a must. We loved it + will definitely be back.

Indian/Bangladeshi food served by attentive staff in a lovely restaurant with contemporary decor. The spices and flavours are delicate and flavorsome and do not blow your head off (unless you ask for extra spicy) Very enjoyable meal with generous portions.

Enjoyed the attentive service by friendly staff, dinner was interesting although the over use of their speciality tamarind spicing made us quite unwell the following day. We are most used to Indian cuisine with green chilli spicing.

well some poor reviews about this place, but we stopped on our way north to Scotland having been here years ago, still as good, a great menu and the food was superb , good service and at £60,00 for three of us not over the top price wise

The worst restaurant experience I have ever had, we waited over 40 minutes for a drink and after 1 and half hours we still had not been served our starters. It was apparent no food was going arrive so we opted to leave as not a nice environment to sit very noisy and abrupt staff. Cannot comment on food as did not get any!

I have never walked out of a restaurant before. We waited 45 minutes for drinks to arrive and they only arrived after we chased them twice. , after an hour and a half we were still waiting for starters. The manager was unable to say when our food might arrive. We were not prepared to wait any longer so we told the manager we were leaving. A disastrous evening which ended up with us going to the coop over the road to buy food and cook it at home. Service terrible.Tables too close together. Don’t know what food was like as we didn’t get to taste it.

I have been here numerous times and it’s always insane! They are attentive and kind people who are always willing to adapt dishes and make you feel at home! They do a garlic chilli chicken and chicken korma which is outstanding! I am not living around here (I live in Suffolk) and I wouldn’t eat a curry elsewhere!!!

Always hearing good things but never had the opportunity to try until a recent friends outing. I will definitely be returning! food was lovely and fresh, Service was very good. nice clean modern looking restaurant. Mt experience was faultless.

A party of 10 of us enjoyed a really good meal on busy Saturday night. We increased our table booking from 6 persons to 10 with no problem. The food came at a reasonable pace given that they were busy. I tried the madras as normally I find curries not spicy enough and this was perfect for me. Plain rice, plain naan- perfect and all nice and hot (in temperature). All washed down with Mongoose beer.

I try and visit this restaurant every couple of weeks. Never been disappointed. The management and staff are great with a real sense of humour and desire to please.

Although we've lived in the area for 12 years, we had yet to visit this restaurant, so we gave it a shot.

Me & my partner ordered from here last night for the first time at 7.30pm. The food wasn’t delivered until 9.30pm We rang just before 9 to check where it was and the man said it will be 10 minutes. We waited over half an hour before we eventually got it. By this time we were past hungry. The chips weren’t cooked properly and the chicken tikka masala was not edible! Will not be ordering from here again!!!!

Myself and my son ordered a take away from here after several positive reviews!! What a disappointment! Bland tasteless food very salty nana bread that tasted like a heavy cake and watered down mint sauce!! Just awful! If you want to pay a premium for a popadum then try this restaurant if not avoid at all costs!!!

Travelling back to Cardiff from Hull, my wife and I decided to stop off on route for an evening meal. Hoping to find and appropriate restaurant road side we failed miserably!!

Table booked for 19:30; poppadoms at 20:00; main course at 21:15; after threatening to leave at 21:10,food turned up, very unacceptable, worse food ever tasted

We booked a table and arrived about 10 mins before and they asked us to wait about 15 mins. So we did, another 30 mins later no table. When we finally got our table poor service and awful food.

Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend. Accommodated my vegan daughter. She was really happy.

So often take away food is so far inferior to that in the restaurant itself. Not in this case, always good, hot and prompt delivery

I like curries and Indian food but though this place was recommended I didn’t enjoy it. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived so we had to stand by the door and wait, bad start! The place was heaving both upstairs and down and the staff were fighting a losing battle. It took ages to get served and when eventually the food came the nans were burnt and the curry was indescribable, I ordered duck but honestly it could have been any meat, it had no taste certainly not duck! On a positive note the staff were pleasant and did their best but silk purses and sows ears come to mind. Finally the water tasted of chlorine.

First time here and it was ok, but there was not much sauce in the chicken tikka masala or butter Chicken. They are the only restaurant that actually tell you meals contain nuts etc. Ok but there are better Indians locally.

Went here on Friday night, as we were travelling up North and wanted something a bit better than a service station. Was nice, not the best indian I've ever had, but nice enough, quick service, pleasant staff, decent prices!

Ordered takeaway for the family after a couple of recommendations from friends. Portions were a good size and the food was slightly better than average. Would order again.

Our first try of this restaurant has left us satisfied and happy to return for another meal, the food was fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. The portions did seem a little small but on the whole a good experience.

Just visited here with my wife and son and was thoroughly disappointed with the meals, the cost of them and the meal content. The visit was to introduce my son to Indian food, he is 14 and i wanted him to experience some different tastes. I really shouldnt have chosen De La Zouch to do that, as its nowehere near to being a good restaurant. One of the meals we ordered was the 'Tandoori Special Deluxe' it was anything but special and no sign of anything that could be remotely described as deluxe. The whole meal consisted of one chicken leg and about six very small pieces of chicken tikka. I did send it back once with a comment about how special it really wasn't and how there was no sign of any sheek kebab as the description said it had and also that I was thoroughly unimpressed by the lack of meat within the dish! It was truly pathetic and by far the worse tandoori mixed grill that ive ever had. We did meet a friend of my wife's in there who said they usualy find the place to be ok, so perhaps i just ordered the wrong food or it was a simply a "special" and "Deluxe" mixed tandoori main meal because it was a 'meat free' one. I dont know but what i do know is that i wont be going there again.

Have had some ok meals from here before, however, the last one will be the last one! Chicken hard and dry, how chicken can have no flavour in a curry is amazing, not just my curry but my husbands also. Really salty, overall a very very poor dish, for almost £30.00 for 2 people for a takeaway shocking value.....

Have been many times over the years and have had good curries every visit!What you see is what you get. It's clean, friendly staff and they serve the best curries in Ashby and reasonably priced to. Just ask and the chefs, they'll make your curry exactly how you like them.

I had an early doors meal at the De La Zouch on a wednesday evening and found a table available straight away. Waiters were pleasant and the meal generally was very good. Situated in Market Street, Ashby's main street. My main gripe was that when I came to pay the bill- around £20 for one person, I handed over my credit card to be told that they do not accept credit cards for under £25- why could they not have told me when I sat down? How many bills for one diner are goping to come to over £25 unless expensive drinks are ordered- I only had 2 Cobras. The waiter accepted the card begrudgingly, probably because he realised that I hadn't been told.

Came here on a recommendation when in Ashby for the day.Great food & really nice atmosphere.The food was so tasty we just didn't want to stop eating X2 main meals, poppadoms, 1 rice, x2 naan and x1 cobra beer, all for £35 bargain !Definitely recommended and would happily go back

Me and my family go to this Curry house quite a lot but this time is was a let down compared to normal! We had booked in advance so we were taken upstairs to eat not my preference because upstairs you are sort of forgotten about so my family and I never have eaten up there. Anyway, it took 20 minutes for our drinks to come and then it was 1 1/4 hours to get our food even though we ordered at the start! So this was a disappointment but we will probably go back to see if it has changed.

Restaurant was busy on a Friday evening but staff were attentive and service efficient. Food was extremely tasty without unnecessary 'heat'. Portions were generous and good value. All in all, and excellent meal!

Very impressed with our meal here, there's an extensive menu with 'the usuals' plus a host of different dishes which was nice for a change. Both my partner and I had curries from the specials and they were both delicious. The pickle tray was also a delight; so fresh and interesting. Service was good, attentive and friendly.

Best Indian in the Midlands. Good portions and lots of varieties on the menu. The chutneys are amazing - 6 different types. Staff are very helpful and friendly particularly the gentleman with the beard possibly the manager. Paneer tikka massala, garlic naan and coconut rice and I'm laughing. Best food ever!

.....it means nothing. We were booked in at 8.30 on a Wednesday. Turned up 20 minutes early to be told quite abruptly to come back at 8.30. When we returned at 8.30, there was a huge queue, blatantly obviously no tables. We argued to no avail and were asked to leave. I don't know why we bothered, the last meal I had here was awful, but I went with the majority. They must be doing something right, judging by the queues, but i will never return. The takeaway over the road is far superior.

Booked last minute for a group of friends, and this was not a problem. The service is always good and they never rush you. Food is excellent. We had poppadoms to start with. Plenty of choice of pickles and relish. Generous portions of rice and naan breads with main courses. Most of our table had fish which was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Good menu with different items from your usual curry house e.g. duck. Everything was just that little bit better than you usually get. Even the chutneys were unusual and extensive, but fresh and tasty. Chef special two (they need a better name!) - chicken with mushrooms was totally delicious, as was side of paneer and chick peas. Naan bread was a little charred but nevertheless fresh and good. Will definitely be back.

De la Zouch was recommended so tried with a work colleague.The restaurant was busy for a during the week night, good sign.Had a Cobra while waiting for the food order which arrived after around 20 minutes.The depth of taste and flavours in the dish was great, just the right heat and supplemented by rice and nann bread.Very reasonably priced, comprehensive menu with traditional Indian dishes as well and Bangladesh.Great service from the staff, in and out within an hour. Would definitely recommend and return. Very good.

Went for a leaving do. It was good that we managed to get a table for how many people attended. Did feel a little cramped but they managed it. The service was quick. The food was good. The drinks choice were typical of a Indian Restaurant. Overall a good restaurant and would say this is the best one in Ashby

Large groups are always difficult to cater for...noisey, inattentive and the general volume. We had asked to be upstairs so we wouldn't disturb others and the table was great. Table was booked for 730 but sadly main course didn't arrive til 855. Only had poppadoms as starter so felt this was too long to wait. When it did arrive the food was delicious and very well spiced. Staff were attentive after we prompted them due to the delay. Only ever been with larger groups and have found this delay is the norm.

Let's be clear 5 circles/stars or anything else should be reserved for AMAZING out of this world expectations.The meal we (4 of us) had was absolutely spot on, good actually but certainly not worthy of 5 anythings, hence the very solid 3 out of 5.Would we go again? Absolutely!Would we recommend to friends and family? Absolutely!Would I go out of my way to schedule a dinner visit in to this restaurant if it wasn't local? No.And that's the point - for trip advisor this was a solid meal and the team at the restaurant should be commended accordingly! However I wouldn't go out of my way to travel to this location of the meal was the highlight of the trip!That said, we are new to the area and this meal held its own and we will return! Very enjoyable and very reasonably priced!Let's use the ratings correctly that's all I am doing.Enjoy your meal people.

First visit to this restaurant saturday 6th, warm welcome, asked for a table for two, even though we had not booked and the place looked rather busy, we were escorted to a free table without hesitation. Large varied menu, food cooked very well and very tasty.The only downside, I would say is that the tables are rather close together, you do tend to hear what others are discussing around you, I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a quiet romantic meal... anyway, we will definately be visiting again and again as there are so many dishes we would like to try on the menu.

We have frequented this place over the past 15 years through different owners and it has varied in quality but to be fair the service has always been good.We had the popadoms and excellent pickle tray to start, followed by 4dishes and naans. My mixed Balti was very good in fact all the dishes were good.Service was timely and all the order arrived correct.The bill was £90 so not cheap but the drinks probably dear.The place is nicely decorated but the toilets are not.There is a massive choice on the menu probably too much.I would recommend it but it's not special

Food is average.Tables are very close to each other.Definitely it's not a romantic place.Serving portion is very big.But better than many Bangladeshi restaurant.

This was my first visit and the food and staff have made a very good impression. Ten of us had a great evening all trying different dishes and all saying we must come back. A couple from out of the area said it was the best food they had had in a very long time and would consider staying in Ashby just so they could use the restaurant.

Wife loved the chicken so much she ate like a rat, rubbery and tasteless. Lamb and starters frozen and disgusting. Clearly the waiters know this as they don't ask if you enjoyed the food.

We don't often go for a curry and this was our first taste of "De la Zouch". It was Wednesday evening, 6:30 and the restaurant was almost full downstairs. We were promptly greated and seated, comfortable seats. The waiter took the trouble to answer our questions. We both had pakoras to start, one veg, one chicken. For our main course we shared Milli Juli platter and Chefs sizzling (no one, chicken strips in tamarind sauce, green peppers and onions with rice and noodles) Food and service both good. We can see why it is popular. They also do take away with free delivery in 3 mile radius.

Went for a large group celebration. We were advised to pre order & they helped us with food choices to cover all tastes. Food was fantastic with just the right amount & service was great & efficient.

Attended Da la Zouch after a few years of not going to it. Very good curry. I had a 'dry' one and the waiter pointed this out and recommended a Bhuna side dish which really complimented the dish. Going back there for another meal in two days

Been a couple of times now and very impressed both times, very well presented food, flavour packed a punch have tried other restaurants in Ashby but not sure why? Won't be anymore as no point going elsewhere. Service fine, prices about average but you get what you pay for.

We'd avoided here for a while after a couple of not great experiences but decided to give it another go on an impromptu curry night out.I use a dhansak as my 'curry enter' and this one was very good: sweet & spicy and the coconut pilau rice was amazing. Great variety in pickles with the poppadoms too. Couple of downsides: the tables are very squashed in, the garlic naan was VERY garlicky & the vegetable platter was just different shaped spicy mashed vegetables (all tasted good but I'd have ordered a pakora if that's all I'd wanted). Service was good: attentive but not 'in your face' Let's hope this is a constant upturn as we used to love it here.

Ordered from here as our usual Takeaway (Samya Spice) was closed. Easy to order and good selection on the menu and delivered on time. Sadly the food is over priced and under flavoured - the most bland Asian food we have ever had. Bhuna, Madras, Jaipuri all tasteless and far too similar. Poor standard and not restaurant quality by any means. Will not order again.

Went with friends to celebrate my husbands birthday In March 2015 we are quite regular customers there and the food had always been good. Confirmed the booking the same day. When we arrived the table was no where near ready In fact I don't think it had been reserved. The manager suggested the 10 of us squeeze on a table for 6 while we wait. They then suggested serving starters on that squashed table which we declined so ended up eating 90 minutes later. A Few months later we ordered a take away which when we got home was wrong, the manager thought it was funny we had to return and recollect. In Another take away the meat was inedible. We decided never again. Unfortunately another friend invited us to celebrate their birthday at De La Zouch this March so we went along. They confirmed the booking that day but when we arrived no table was ready. The manager thought it was amusing he said it was a mistake and suggests we squash up again. We refused and walked out as the manager had yet again clearly not reserved a table and assumed we would make do. We got a takeaway fromOver the road and ate at our friends Unfortunately ashby is a smallTown and we already knowPeople are avoiding this restaurant due to declining service and quality of food. Eventually it will catch up with them but until then at least 10 of us will not visit again

I love how you get a free onion bhaji starter chucked in. Poppodoms are always fresh and the curry wasn't too oily. Price reasonable too. We love it here - best takeaway for miles.

Two friends and I went here after a disappointing walk around the pubs in Ashby trying to find a decent pint. At about 10pm on a Friday, the place was very busy but we managed to find a table. The menu is quite extensive, and although it warns of a possible wait for your food, ours seemed to arrive quite quickly. We all had a main course but split two starters between us; something the staff seemed quite happy to do.The staff were attentive (but not overly) the food was hot, well presented and tasty, although the portion size was a little on the small size. Prices were mostly reasonable; three main courses, naans, two starters and three beers came to £48, although I think that £1.50 for a single chapatti is a little steep.

Visited during the Annual Fun Fair, so might have been a busy time, food was OK, lamb starter was chewy and not warm, even though I took my time with the menu and chose the most authentic sounding Bangladeshi dish what came out tasted like a supermarket curry, was not impressed.Will be trying other curry houses in Ashby first before thinking of returning.Can't recommend it at this stage.

Visit De La Zouch last Friday and all of our party left very disappointed.There was a hair in our papadum (actually cooked into it!). No worries, we thought. We aren't too picky so just broke that bit off. The dips were nice, the green pickle was blow your head off, but one of the nicest ones I've tasted.Starters were actually dripping in grease when we picked them up. Yes, we had bhajis and samosas, but they still shouldn't be in a puddle of oil on the plate.Mains were generally disappointing, aside from the Lamb Shashlik. Not very much meat and very salty. We shared three curries between four of us, and had a long wait for the additional plate, despite telling them when we ordered. I know they were very busy though.The price was very reasonable for the four of us including drinks, but the meal just wasn't that nice. Sorry!
