Food is nice though I recommend going after 9am or it’s pretty empty. Staff will make fresh sandwiches on demand which I great if you can’t see something you like.

This charming little bakery in Great Shelford is found directly opposite the recreational field and is clearly popular with the locals. It has a wide array of sweet and savoury offerings, drinks, sandwiches, bread and also sells eggs. The staff came across as friendly and welcoming and, during this current time, were correctly observing social distancing regulations. I bought a cookie and iced bun, both of which wholly satisfied my sweet tooth cravings.

A village pub which has grown into a hotel/restarant complex: and done it in a very sensitive way so the original flavour is retained. We dined in the orangery, which is a well thought out large room with a high roof and well spaced tables. Really friendly and helpful staff, happy to split one dish which would have been too large as an individual dish for the two diners concerned. Nicely balanced menu with a vegetarian option. Very well cooked and presented food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Too cold for outside at the end of February but it must be a delight on a summer evening.

Delightful food, beer and staff. Plenty of choice for all tastes from vegan to Sunday beef roast.
