Dawat Indian Restaurant in Bexley

Never had a problem before but the chicken tikka masala hasn't any flavour at all!!! Also I was supposed to get a peshwari nann bread but received a plain one.

No I didn’t enjoy my food as I didn’t get. I got a call to say the restaurant is not open today even though it is showing on Just Eat that it was open. But my order went through all the same & it wasn’t cancelled. I tried to cancel it but there was no option to cancel it. I am unable to submit a comment unless I choose how late my order is. You don’t have anything to say it didn’t turn up

One of the best curries I’ve had - missed one item from the order, rung up and they sorted it as soon as possible, great service and hot food!

Good was ordered at 7:05pm and I received the food at around 9pm, from the estimated time of delivery it was around 30 mins or more late which i extremely unhappy with because the food was good

chicken tikka masala was not great at all today and chicken very chewy in both masala and korma. Little disappointed to be honest as normaly the food is amazing and my little one normally polishes off her plate, she wasn't interested to eat it today which was not great at all. Shame!!

First time i have ordered from Dawat and the food is absolutely delicious, i will definitely be ordering from them agin, i had butter chicken and it was bang on absolutely thr best i have had in a very very long time, my compliments to the chef, thank you.

Excellent all food was hot and had amazing flavour and brilliant portion sizes. Only slight downside is it seems to be one of the more expensive Indian restaurants around this area. Thankyou for a great meal will definitely be ordering again soon!

Had to call restaurant as delivery was late. Just Eat said, 'Enjoy your food' but cannot do that without the food being delivered. Will have to rethink next time we fancy a takeaway.

I would have given 5 stars but once again I ordered onion rice and got onion bhajis. I wish they would read their orders properly. I like them but wanted rice. Food was lovely and hot and delicious as usual.

Can only give one start driver never read any of the notes on the system and food cold on arrival want a refund but that wnot happen with just eat to happy to take your money

Chicken tasted reheated and chewy, didn’t even eat the meat, such a shame usually my go to takeout restaurant ☹️may need to rethink

Everything was nice and delivery easy, food hot etc. Only issue was I asked for a madras hot passanda... which might sound odd but my usual Indian do this but they were closed and the Dawat didn't carry out my request. Still tasty though.

Food was delicious, can't fault it but delivery driver was too lazy to deliver to the door... You would think when ordering a delivery it comes to your front door. Can you imagine the postman leaving your mail on a high Street 😳

Delivery from 17.50-18.10, so rang restaurant at 18.10 and was told another 10 minutes. Actually arrived just before 18.40 !!

waited an hour for delivery called restaurant told traffic was causing delay 45 mins still waiting phoned had a row told them I'm coming to the restaurant he implied we don't do refunds. Arrived at restaurant for refund and my wife calls to say driver was at the door. food sent back restaurant answer was eat it its hot. Absolutely disgraceful.wont ne going back there

Ordered online was told one hour no show called restaurant told another 15 minutes called again just kept adding on time eventually drove to restaurant and had an argument and got a refund 2 hours later disgraceful.

Wrong sauces turned up. Waited a hour on top of the 40 minutes told when order placed. Had to chase restaurant.

Brilliant little restaurant, honest the best. great service too. The chicken saag is sublime and the host is cool too normally offers you a free brandy after youve eat.

We’ve tried lots of Indian take aways in the area in the last 6 years! The food from Dawat it’s the best…. Fresh and tasty!! Even if it’s a bit more expensive it worth as you will have a yummy meal!

Quite disappointed, the restaurant is a 5 min walk but took nearly 2 hours to arrive, when I called the restaurant its just rang out, also I did not really rate the food, I had a pathia and it was watery ! Unfortunately we won't be using them again.

Over a hour and half late. On top of that poor attitude over the phone and wouldn’t answer the phone initially. The worst take away experience in all my life and wouldn’t even dream of ordering again. Absolutely dreadful service and attitude. Genuinely didn’t no if it was going to arrive. Ordered a takeaway on a Saturday night at 7pm and expected to wait at least an hour...called them at 8.30pm to be told 20 minutes ...finally turned up at 9.30. Nowhere near as nice as it usually is.Will not be using again.

Never had an issue with good old, Big D. Amazing curry and the rice isn’t that brown bs but rather the multicoloured amazing fluffy pilau. Some restaurants need to take notes.

Order came main dishes wrong , ordered passanda and Balti called restaurant was passed around to 3 different people last person said they would send again they did and they were not very nice at all , the passanda tasted of nothing but coconut no other flavours my friend could not eat it , my Balti was like nothing I’ve tasted before it tasted so bland yet the minute it hit yr throat it made you choke both went in the bin , the side dishes were edible , very disappointed

Order delivered but they forgot the rice. Had to ring. They said ten minutes but it took twenty. By that time, the rest was cold. I will not be ordering from them again!

We have been visiting DAWAT ever since moving to this area approx 10 yrs ago. It is our go to and there is no other Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant around here that serves food to the perfection that these guys do. The staff are friendly and helpful and once you become a loyal regular customers such as ourselves, you may get a few surprises in with your order. We have had some drinks thrown in, extra poppadoms, an extra dish or two. We have tried other places as you do out of curiosity but never visited anywhere else a second time. The owner is a really bubbly character and very attentive and we love visiting here whether it be for a dine in or a take out! The only downfall (and this isn’t a negative for us but might be for others) is that when the restaurant is busy then the wait times for food can be long so I wouldn’t say this is the best place to come to if you are in a rush for food especially on a Friday/Saturday night. However we can’t fault that if our food has arrived late in the past/served to us after a long wait time, that is has still come piping hot and delicious as ever! Wouldn’t recommend anywhere else. Just fantastic.

Obviously lost his alcohol licence for some apparent reason , cant see the point of going in there if you pop over Tesco's for beer or wine for your meal

Everything was so sweet. The lamb Tikka was like a very sweet Korma. In the end we gave up on the meal

The app stated that the delivery time was 35 - 50 mins. After calling the restaurant to find out where our order was they said the driver had just left. That journey should have only been a 10 min drive. Our delivery ended up being 50 mins late. The restaurant then refused to give any form of compensation for the delay.

Someone recommended this restaurant to us, so we ordered a takeaway last night. Excellent service and the food turn up hot and was delicious. Definitely returning.

The food from here was amazing as always! I do find this Indian slightly more expensive than other Indian restaurants I’ve ordered from but the food is definitely worth the slightly higher prices

You know if your eating from dawat you need to order earlier than the expected delivery time and expect it late. This time was a little different. My order changed to delivered 20 minutes after the scheduled delivery time, upon calling was told it’s left, it will be with me in 5 minutes. 25 minutes later it arrived. Not sure the reason for marking it delivered ... maybe just to add an additional level of frustration. Food was good which is their saving grace. Will they ever get deliveries correct - my years of ordering from here would suggest not!!

Ordered from here and the food was 4.5 hours late. I had no communication with the restaurant at all, they initially increased my time for delivery initially from 7.15 to 8pm on the app but 8pm came around and still no food. I couldn’t get through to the restaurant and they did not call me either. Finally about 9pm I got through, to be greeted by an incredibly RUDE man who told me it was Just Eats problem not theirs, they refused to offer me a refund or to cancel my order and he was making threats telling me to come up to the restaurant. They told us the food would be another 45 mins so we waited....45 mins went past....no food. Rang again and managed to get through, this time the rude man told me it was the kitchen staffs fault. So what could it be? The kitchen staff or just eat? My food arrived at 11.30pm. I placed my order at 6.15pm. The meat in the curry was absolutely disgusting it was chewy and nasty and the naan bread had burnt holes in the middle of it. I was told to go through just eat to request a refund which I did and got an email yesterday telling me they’d put a free meal in my order so they wouldn’t be giving me a refund. There was no free meal and I have received no refund either. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS. THE FOOD IS SUBSTANDARD AT BEST, THE SERVICE IS SHOCKING & YOU WONT GET A REFUND EITHER. I am working with Just Eat to get this takeaway off the app.

Ordered at 5.30pm was told 6.30 delivery it’s now 9.25 and I’ve had to order from another restaurant as these ones can’t even be bothered to answer their phone or deliver orders TERRIBLE!!

My food hasn’t arrived and it’s nearly 4 hours late!!! We were told that it would arrive by 7.30 pm (an hour aft we we ordered) and then phoned for an update at 8.40pm and they said give us 45 minutes with an updated time of 9.25pm and it’s now 1010 and no sign of the order. It’s disgusting as I keep being advised by Just Eat to call the restaurant by tried 17 times and they aren’t answering! I want a full refund and not be no. 99 on the the Just Eat chat waiting list.

...we were so hungry after waiting over 2.5 hours for food to be delivered that we just ate without thinking about the quality or taste of the food (ordered at 5.35pm and food eventually turned up at 8.15pm, after chasing many times on the app and getting no replies to phone calls) ...i can understand they may have been busy on the day we ordered but looking back at other reviews over the past few months; this seems to be a recurring theme - so not sure if we'd be ordering deliveries from this place again unless we are ok waiting 3 hours for the food to turn up ...whilst waiting for our food we saw 3 other neighbours getting their food deliveries from other places turn up - if we hadn't paid up using a credit card in advance we'd have cancelled the order and gone elsewhere ...when we asked for money back on the app after 1.5 hours of waiting we were told no, but they'd pop something in the bag for free (which turned out to be 2 papadams - very generous of them to compensate us for the longest wait we'd ever had for a delivery!)

Amazing flavours as usual. I think my curry had been made earlier on in the day though, as it came to me luke warm and didn't seem as fresh. But Dawat are my favourite curry house in the area they always do an amazing job and give extras, thank you!

Food was delivered an hour and 40 minutes late. Leaving me waiting nearly 3 hours for my food. Yet to receive any money back.

I’m super fussy & Dawat is my choice over many in my area. Been ordering from her for years. We always enjoy our weekend treat from here and it always arrives hot. Great food great service we love it!!

First time ordering but not the last. Food was delicious

Took 2 hours for our food to arrive. I understand that It’s busy but that’s just unacceptable. Even before the pandemic we had issues with delivery times but we thought we’d give them a second chance. Won’t bother again and wouldn’t recommend.

Have been an occasional customer for years and despite long wait times in the past and prices that are above other similar restaurants we occasionally treat ourselves. Placed an order online, and called up after an hour and a half to check what was happening. Was told the food was 10 minutes away. After another hour of waiting called again and was told it had left the restaurant. After another 30 minutes I called to request a cancellation and refund, and it was only at this point I was told that there was 'an Internet problem' and they'd only just received it. My request to cancel was refused as it was now 'in the kitchen' and would be 10 minutes. After a further 30 minute wait we called again, again asking to cancel. This was again denied. We were going through channels to report them to the online provider when it finally pitched up. While I believe that there may have been a system error, the immediate lies about the status of the order instead of actually checking and resolving, and the refusals to cancel mean I will never go here again. Buyer beware.
