We ate here last night and I am sorry to say it was terrible. My starter was so salty, I had the mushrooms...I ate it and didn’t say anything in the hope the main course would be better but I was to be very disappointed. The pizzas we ordered were inedible. My pizza base stunk of other food meaning the oven cannot of been clean. The onions on it were undercooked and all I could taste was the disgusting base.....a sort of burnt/oil/fat taste. My hands smelt of the same and still smell today despite washing them a few times. It was disgusting. My partners pizza was no better. We are both big eaters and pizza lovers and I have never left a bad review before on here so it must have been bad for me to do this!! We complained and the waiter was very apologetic and offered us the menu to chose something else (no thanks!! 🤢), he then took the pizzas off the bill so he couldn’t really have done anything else. He was really nice and I feel bad for him really. Not the frontline staffs fault! Our next table polished off their food so maybe it was just the pizzas that were bad! Who knows but sorry I wouldn’t go back here if you paid me.

The table service was slow from being sat down to getting our order taken. I told them I made a reservation which they didn't double check. Two high chairs were blocking the entrance/exit to the restaurant. We only stayed for the mains. I personally think stuffing should not be served with beef and the roast itself was a little tough. The staff were not as friendly as everyone made them out to be, not very talkative to our table. I would have also liked to see more Covid safety measures in place, no temperature checks on guests, staff had no protective equipment on and I didn't see them wipe down or dispose of the menus after use.

Visited this place last minute because my partner and I were hungry after our walk. As soon as we walked through the doors it was like we were back in 2019 when Covid-19 didn’t exist. Non of the staff wore gloves masks or a face shield, non of the tables were 2 meters away. In fact they were hardly 1 meter away. As well as this, the cutlery was already on the tables meaning someone could have walked past and coughed or sneezed on them. Finally, we had a Sunday dinner and the lamb was very fatty and the mash potatoes were lumpy and bland. We will not be visiting here again.

Found ourselves in Tynemouth on a rainy Thursday afternoon and, as the rain was not letting up, we decided to have lunch at Davanti - had never been before but walked past it on our way down to the Priory. Our first meal out after lockdown so little apprehensive about safety/social distancing measures but there was nothing to worry about - hand gel provided, info taken for Track and Trace, lots of space between tables. The waiter was attentive but not overpowering and provided us with drinks (white wine and soda and lemon and lime) whilst we considered the menu. Fairly typical choice of Italian dishes - I chose my starter (arancini) and pizza from the Rapido menu for a fab price of £7.95, my husband wanted salad Caprese and a Pizza Village so chose from the normal menu which was a little more expensive. Food was delicious - really enjoyed the starters and the mains. Did not order bottle of wine but there was a good choice available. Table was near the window so we could watch the world go by and check when it stopped raining! Lunch for £30 and a place to stay dry - great option! If we are in Tynemouth again, we will definitely return.

Popped into the newly reopened post-Covid Davantis for dinner on Wednesday eve and found they had a 2 courses for £7.95 set menu. It was very generous with a full range of starters and mains, with small supplements if you wanted the more expensive dishes. We chose bruschetta for starters and pollo risotto & spaghetti carbonara for mains. All for £15.90. The mains were great but the bruschetta came with a cold bread base. I'm not sure how authentic it is but at other Italian eateries the bread always comes warm. Other than that it was tasty and generously overloaded with tomato. Drinks were competitively priced and the staff were attentive. Certainly would go again.

Davanti Classico was fully booked so we thought here was the next best thing. It wasn't. We ordered drinks and had to ask 3 times before our bottle of wine joined the rest of the drinks on the table. We had muscles to start - some were hot and some were cold. Then the mains, which we had ordered with veg arrived. The veg was Mediterranean vegetables in a tomato sauce (more like ratatouille), which for half of the table was the same as what they already had on their plate, and for the other half, who had a gravy, was an odd combination to say the least. The staff seemed confused when we told them that we weren't able to eat a tomato sauce with a gravy and said we could have some broccoli before they eventually brought some chips out. Definitely wouldn't go back.

2 people, thursday night, 7:30 Having arrived we were escorted to our table and left with the menus, after a few minutes we were asked if we'd like some drinks....queue the question for the wine list! Not a good start. Ordering a small glass of house red and a bottle of strawberry and lime cider, pleasantly surprised to receive the drinks, accompanied with a glass of ice, strawberry and a slice of lime. Perhaps the wine list was an oversight. Bonus point provided. Taking advantage of the happy hour we decided on two courses for £7.95 each....firstly the starter. Paying 2quid supplement on each starter, we ordered the ravioli of the day and the gamberoni. The gamberoni was lovely, but only 2 prawns, 2! The ravioli was plentiful, around a dozen pieces but very bland, but accompanied with a homemade sauce of what appeared to be natural yoghurt and mint sauce (Sunday dinner variety). Only half was ate, and collected. We were asked, and told the complaint to the waiter, this was kindly removed from the bill. The mains ordered were the lasagna and the pizza picante. The lasagna was small in quantity, not exactly hot, and could have done with some seasoning. the pizza was a soft slightly under cooked base with pepperoni with raw pepper on it. The bill was paid and we left, probably never to return. A stark contrast to the ambiance of the Whitley lodge branch, but similarly disappointing quality of food. Our search for a decent Italians in North Tyneside continues!

There's two Davanti restaurants in Tynemouth, this one is in part of a converted church (the other is in the railway station). I've eaten in both and never had a bad meal.I took a bunch of doctors and nurses here for the retirement of one of our team, and we had a lovely evening. The service was excellent, the food quality outstanding, and the portion sizes are very generous!! The pricing is sensible, including the wine (which was handy as we drunk quite a lot...).Highly recommended - definitely coming back here!

Our family group of 10, including two young children, enjoyed a lovely meal at Davanti’s in The Land of Green Ginger this evening. The adults all chose from the Rapido Menu which, at £7.95 for two courses / £9.95 for three courses, was excellent value for money. (This is available Monday -Thursday until 10pm, and until 5.30pm on Fridays.) There was plenty of choice – 9 starters, 12 mains, and 5 desserts – with additional ‘Specials’ choices at a supplement of £2 for starters and £4 for mains. The main courses were mainly pizzas and pastas but, for the price, we didn’t expect anything else. The children’s menu was also great value at £6.95 for three courses – even though a drink was not included. I’m not sure how much the lager and the house wine cost, but it wasn’t extortionate. Whilst waiting for our starters, we were served complimentary olive bread with little dishes of tapenade and garlic butter, all of which were delicious. The food was superb; the staff were very friendly and courteous; and the restaurant was very pleasant and comfortable. One member of our party ordered Carbonara pasta – but when she tasted it she realised it contained onions. (This ingredient wasn’t listed in the description.) She is allergic to onions! However, it wasn’t a problem: the lovely waiter apologised, brought a freshly-made Carbonara without onions ten minutes later, and deducted the cost from the bill. Excellent service indeed! All in all, it was a great evening, much enjoyed by us all. Thank you! We shall be back!*It’s worth noting that parking is free on Front Street after 5.30pm – an additional bonus!

Food was nothing more than ok. What arrived wasn’t always quite what was ordered eg one pizza was supposed to have asparagus and artichokes but had neither. Pasta and fish were good. Bread was poor. Enormous starters. Poached egg in one starter was hard. Not bad enough to send anything back but they certainly need to up their game if they are to survive. The fact that it wasn’t busy on a Friday night suggests that not all is well.

Stopped in spontaneously on a Saturday with family - four adults and a 2-year-old. Despite it being the height of lunchtime, the restaurant wasn't very busy, only a few parties scattered here and there. It feels quite quiet and hidden away as it's below street-level. Despite the small crowds, we did feel service was quite slow, particularly the wait for our food after we ordered. Still, we were comfortable with our drinks, and our kid was supplied with a high chair and some crayons, and bread was brought out fairly quickly to help pacify him (and us?)I didn't really like what they served with the bread - a sort of rough tapenade, looked like mainly chopped olives, but the flavour wasn't very appealing. And then there was a butter of some sort with red flecks throughout - clearly was supposed to be special in some way, but probably would've preferred just good olive oil, as spreading cold butter on the fluffy bread didn't really work.My husband and I split the Fettucine Polpette and the Piccante pizza. Both were perfectly fine - the meatballs were clearly made fresh in house and everyone agreed they were very good. The portion was a good size for the price. I didn't get much kick from the sauce, despite it being advertised as full of chili and garlic, but it felt freshly made and satisfied us. I just would've liked a heavier hand with the seasoning. The pizza was similar to what you get at most neighbourhood Italian restaurants - perfectly fine, nothing special. The crust did hold up well to eating-by-hand, which I always appreciate as an American. And I like that they kept it in long enough for the pepperoni to get a nice crisp edge. But it was a bit greasy, and without any particularly interesting flavour. It's a tough one - it hits the spot if you have a craving for Italian, but also leaves you wishing for a bit more flavour and a bit more zing. It's perfectly fine, but distinctly unmemorable. I'm sure the fact I just got back from a holiday in Italy has made me a harsher critic, but there you are.

Been here before and we enjoyed it however this visit was not like the last. Food was ok but it was the service that was a let it down. When meals are served normally in a restaurant you are asked if the meal if ok but not here. Just served then when you are finished the table is cleared. Customer service not very good and not just for us but also from what we observed at the other tables were getting the same service as us. Would we return probably not as there are other restaurants around which are better. So sad as this could be with the right attitude and customer service from the staff a great place to eat.

Look like a decent place to try and shown to our table as soon as we got there. The menu had a good variety of choice. Once ordered however it was all downhill. I am reluctant to always place the blame with the serving staff but quite often it is the lack of training given to them. The starters were ok apart from the garlic mushrooms which were barely cooked. The chicken strips should have been described as bits. A couple behind us were given their mains before they had been offere starters.

Have visited Davanti a few times and tried a few different dishes, the food is good.I recommend the Arancini for starters, but I'm still yet to decide upon a commendable main as the portion of Carbonara I received on my last visit was tiny, the salmon pasta very filling and fishy with no resemblance of lobster in the sauce at all, all in all if you go for the special it's decent enough food without being anything to overly write home about. My main reason for writing this review though is the service, one thing we always note when visiting Davanti is the rude waitress who seems to treat people like such an inconvenience! On my last visit we were given a basket of bread to share amongst 6 people which basically was a very small slither each, I asked for more but rather than the expected "certainly, I'll just bring that" came the "YOU WANT MORE BREAD!?!?" response. Yes you heard rightly were the whole tables thoughts. This person shouldn't be in a job she dislikes so much. We've now found a new place to eat at, and very happy with it.

Amazing place! The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. We had the Sunday lunch, omg AMAZING! Between the 6 of us we tried all of the meats (chicken, beef, lamb, pork and brisket) all perfectly cooked, plenty of veg! Desserts were to die for! They even sang happy birthday to my little big who was over the moon!

Went to Davanti on Front Street in Tynemouth tonight. Decided on a white pizza, as I'm not a big fan of tomatoes and it was delicious! The service was great, really welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. My husband had crab ravioli with lobster bisque and he says it was divine, which must be true, as he doesn't usually eat much, but finished the lot! Highly recommend this restaurant and will be back!

When I moved to Tynemouth, this was the first restaurant I came to eat in - nearest our home! Still a very warm welcome every time and lovely food - sometimes (like tonight) just want a pizza, and other times the full Monty - I like it here, it never disappoints

Busy Saturday evening and tried here on off chance of getting a table. Table set 10mins later though people half and hour later had to be turned away. Pleasantly relaxed service which was great as we were in no hurry. I have never associated steak with Italian restaurants but the chef here knows how to cook them. Medium sirloin done to perfection with sauce in separate container and not poured over steak so you can't see what your eating. We were sat next to room divider opposite bar which was away from the main group of tables where it did seem noisy. Good staff, good service and good value.

No volveremos.

My friend and I went for a pleasant evening meal to Davantis on the Whitley Bay sea front. We had booked a table (electronically). But then had a wait a little while -- why, if you've booked? Food was up to scratch, if a little predictable. Pizza was average and a little dry. But the waiter was rather brusque with us, seemed to not be interested and had no sense of humour at all. His attitude to me (I'm transgender) was particularly 'rude', though this was mainly in his manner rather than anything he said. Sad really: this is a good restaurant that I've visited happily before, and it can't afford any average-to-poor reviews in what is a VERY competitive area.

I had never visited Davantis before our meal there last night. Overall, it was a fantastic meal, great quality and portion sizes and their house rosé was lovely too. For two of us it came in at just over £50 with two bottles of wine so in all, great value for money! Would recommend a visit if your in the area!

I have visited Davantis a few times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is fantastic, all the staff enjoy what they do and that always comes across in the food and service you receive. The pizzas are big and authentic and the starters are light and tasty. I personally like the risotto which is delicious. The happy hour offers a good range and you won't get a fright when the bill arrives. It's perfect for a meal out with friends and family and the location is ideal if you want a few drinks in Tynemouth afterwards. I would thoroughly recommend this and is easily one of the best places to eat in the village

Popped in for a quick meal before going to the cinema. I am gluten free so checked in advance to see if they did gluten free pizza which they did. Service was excellent, very efficient and fast. I ordered tuna and garlic on gluten free pizza base and it was excellent. There was the usual coeliac tax to get the base gluten free. This was an additional £3 but given the normal pizzas were so cheap the overall cost wasn't as bad as some places. Pizza was brilliant and huge, served super quick. My partner who eats gluten commented that they would not have realised that it was gluten free. His pizza which was a diabolo was also great. We will be back.
