As a group of carers who work in a specialised dementia care unit, we don’t really get an opportunity to get out together due to shift patterns and being too tired so this was our first night out since before the pandemic. We all had the most amazing night! Friday night = absolutely incredible music which was a cool mixture from party, a little old school R&B and some dance remixes, perfect array that can please anybody wanting to hit the dance floor. Everybody was really enjoying themselves, singing, dancing, laughing and giggling. Even the staff had a dance at the end of the night to YMCA! The atmosphere was phenomenal. The staff were all very friendly and made you feel welcome. If you’re in Uttoxeter on a Friday night, I highly recommend this venue.

Staff are ill mannered, they let way too many people in, and toilets are filthy. There is also quite a few older people that act ‘creepy’ towards younger people.

Been here a few times and always had fun. Staff even helped me tie my coat round my waist when I was struggling! Great music and never witnessed any trouble between drunken customers :) You could tell who the manager was (Elijah) as he always had things under control. I might have ended up dancing on a table at one point - oops ;). Luckily the bouncers saw the funny side and gave me a high five for it!

What a great place. There is something for everyone. The Mexican food was fab, the variety of drinks available at the bar is brilliant and there is even consoles in each booth to entertain the kids while you're waiting for food.

We were in Uttoxeter and looking for dinner between two days at Alton Towers. Wishing to avoid what almost all the local eateries provide - burgers, pizzas, steaks and pub grub - we found the Darwin and Bear offering Mexican food. The decor is great - they've clearly spent money on it, and it wouldn't look out of place in a large city centre. The retro gaming in the booths were a nice touch too. I assume that on a Fri / Sat night it attacts all the cool under 30s of Uttoxeter. The cocktails looked nice enough, but we weren't drinking (£3.50 for a pint of draught lemonade was a little steep though!). Service was great - attentive without being smothering - though it wasn't a busy night. Unfortunately the food could do with a bit more attention. It was probably best described as Tex Mex with a provincial English twist. I had the veggie quesadillas, which tasted exactly as you'd expect if you chucked some supermarket tortillas, cheddar, mushrooms and onions in a frying pan - they lacked sophistication and in the end I became so bored I left the last piece. My partner had the enchilada and (while impressed with the sheer quantity of cheese on top) was sure the rice had been microwaved. With some more authentic ingredients - Cholula hot sauce for the table, for instance - and some more attention to the menu, Darwin & Bear could be fantastic. For now, unfortunately, it's clear that the owners' attention is on the bar, decor and gaming. (PS there's a hairdryer and straighteners hardwired into the walls in the ladies bathrooms - I'd love to know what happens there that regularly makes patrons need a hairdryer?!)

Came to Darwin and bear for my partners birthday booked a group of 27, they wanted no pre order… no deposit which i was slightly concerned about. But they absolutely smashed it! We wasn’t the easiest lots of children people standing around, moving and chatting. They took everyone’s order, food came out within decent time! Was hot and delicious! They did AMAZING I was and everyone else was so impressed and had a great time!

Found this place on just eat and we wasn’t disappointed. Easy to order, reasonable prices, fast delivery and the food was very tasty and delivered hot. We will be ordering again and possibly busing in person.

Placed an order with Darwin and Bear Uttoxeter online for delivery. Was charged delivery and service charge. Waited for 1hr 40mins, no food, we tried to contact, no answer from phone, Facebook or live chat. We drove to the restaurant to get a refund, on arrival the staff were smoking in the entrance, no staff were wearing masks properly. The manager was not wearing mask at all nor social distancing. Manager said they didn’t use that website anymore although we were allowed to place the order. Manager said there was no response on phone, website or web as he was short staffed even though 3 of them were in the entrance. A disgrace to the town and food industry!

Reluctantly I have to score the venue as average, if I’m being kind. Rang ahead to see what vegan options were and was given some confidence. Arrival was ok. Bit of an odd mismatch of furniture not screaming Mexican other than a few flags. The food was ok, good wedges and chips. Vegetarian fajitas and chicken fajitas were ok but not up to chimichangas or chiquittos back in the day. Vegetable bowl didn’t specify that it was gonna have random bits of soya fake meat in it. To be fair the restaurant swapped it out, but all in all it lacked any flair. No atmosphere for a Friday night. Sorry because the colleagues were friendly but not wowing
