Best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time and very reasonably priced

Gone here for the past few years never had any issues , fish always cooked fresh chip are your proper old school chips and onion gravy is spot on

Fantastic customer services and to top it off the good is amazing.

Food was ok but placing an order with a eta of 35 minutes and giving a delivery time for a hour and it to be late isnt acceptable at all. I could have bad 2 orders by the time it got here.

Ordered food with multiple items missing, asked the driver who was then rude. Then called the restaurant for them to be very unhelpful telling me to get a refund from just eat which was followed by them hanging up on me. Not only all this the food was very cold

Curry sauce was really nice and the fish was really nice too. I'm not sure why but all the chips looked very dark / black in some areas, tasted ok but bit odd?

Delivery driver lovely and delivered on time !! Fish was very bland and the gravy had an unusual taste but the chips were okish (a bit scrappy) sausage went down well with the pooches so I’m guessing that was fab - portion size was excellent for the price but not sure I would order again

I don't eat fish and chips (takeout)but I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the fish was (I don't eat chips either as a rule) they even fried it in very little batter for me. Delicious. Shall be going there again.

I really disliked the fish tastes really rubbery and awful. The peas had a bad taste and smell. Only good thing was the chips

Very small portions- the 'large' fish was a small size fish. And the small fish, was literally 1 fish bite!! Didn't taste nice, very mushy and burnt, hard chips. Delivery man was on time and very polite, but unfortunately would not order again

Fish was too oily but chips tasted OK, prices and portions are good. Main concern for me was I sat and ate in and it was too cold.

After a long day of painting, both me and my partner had worked up a huge appetite and craving for fish and chips. We found Darnley Fisheries while looking for a chippie open on a Sunday night and we were not disappointed. The fella working that night was really friendly and welcoming. He cooked everything perfectly, gave us huge portions and gave us the freshest scraps I think I’ve ever had…they sizzled when he was putting in the vinegar! He also recommended we try their chilli sauce and it was honestly a game changer with the chips. 10/10 would recommend and I can safely say this is our new Sunday night cheat meal chip shop.

It's an excellent place for a hot & fresh fish with chips. A must try.

The fish was very small compared to the portion of chips, and the battered sausage was over cooked/burnt but the curry sauce was amazing...

The food was tasty, hot and enjoyable. I tried the gluten free fish which was tasty but a bit on the small side for the price. We all enjoyed our meals and had no serious complaints, we will order from here again. Delivery was fast and the driver was polite and friendly.

One of the best places for Fish and Chips going. I and my family always stop by here whenever we go to Wakefield to visit relatives and I visit this place whenever I get the chance to pass by. The staff here are really friendly. The food is always spot on. The fish cake is great and so is the fish and chips. Always fresh and great portion sizes. This place has been around for a long time and it says it all considering how good of a chippy it is. Small place with great food and great customer service. Highly recommended!

Great fish & chips. We travelled from out of area for the buy 1 get 1 free offer on fish & chips. The fish was small compared to a standard fish not on the offer - but enough for 1 person. Can definitely recommend

AVOID AT ALL COST! Horrible chips, hard reheated fish. Left an awful taste.

Old hard fish chips look like they were 10 days old not even edible. Ridiculous portion for a large size. Small portions were tiny even for a small.

Ordered the Large Fish and Chips.. Well, let's just say it was the same size as the sausage you'd normally get from a chippy. (I have a photo to prove) The batter was a bit soggy at some parts and the fish still had a couple of bones in it. On the plus side, the american chip salt was the size they said it was lol and the delivery was on time. Good part from just eat there. Other than that, I reckon i'd give this a miss from now on.

Do not order the jumbo fish and chips! The fish is the same size as a standard fish in every chippy in Wakefield. Don't expect many chips either. I counted 9 in my meal! I called the restaurant to challenge this and was told my chips were free, and not included in the £8.90 price! Do yourself a favour and go the Wetherby Whaler. At least you won't walk away ripped off.

Absolute robbing gits! Ordered jumbo fish and chips through JustEat. The fish was approx 30cm long. In my book that is pretty standard and would expect that as a normal portion in any chippy. As for the chips, I counted 9 good sized chips! £8.90 👊🏻🥶 The restaurant when challenged over the phone told me my chips were free and they only make £4 profit on the fish. I note a 2 star food hygiene rating too, so that's pretty poor, not even getting the basics right 🤢 Avoid at all costs. Robbing businesses should fail at every opportunity.

Orderd for delivery sent wrong order. Rang them up, confirmed it was the wrong order but can't send right order coz can't get a delivery driver qnd got kids with no tea now.

Received notification driver was on the way, then app showed driver signal lost, hour later, finally received call that driver had phone issue, then finally got food over an hour after it said driver was on the way

Old oil, small fish with enough batter on to insulate my house. So greasy it reminded me my car needs an oil change.

Wasn't happy with the food only thing that was edible was the chips the battered sausage didn't look apertising and was very greasy also the pie looked like it had been warmed up in microwave no colour to it so wasn't cooked in oven, used to be a nice chippy years ago

Having used this restaurant regularly I was surprised at how late it was. What was evident was the order was missing gravy and was luke warm at best. I'm guessing it was wrapped and left sat while they waited for a driver as it certainly wasn't cooked fresh.

Went in for the first time for a portion of chips and the lady serving me was kind enough to add some curry sauce on the house. Very traditional taste and will def be going back. Prices are brilliant too.
