Avoid. Very poor ingredients badly cooked everything tasted odd and felt the consequences after maybe a visit from the hygiene dept is needed to advise them where they`re going wrong and the staff looked unclean in hindsight we should of just left on entry as first impressions alarm bells rang its so annoying paying good money for a very poor standard they should be ashamed of what they are serving

Our order was wrong tonight, they forgot our curry sauce and we ordered a pie and it turned up as a pasty still in the plastic wrapper! Absolutely disgusting and dry. So disappointed as we were so hungry. The chips were cold too! Never again.

Great fish n chip takeaway, highly recommended, and a very good price. Meal ready on time as indicated.

We visited this chip shop twice during our week stay in Darley Dale. Both times the fish was cooked to order and it was absolutely fantastic. My wife is a northerner and living down south it very difficult to find good gravy, if at all and this place did the best gravy (in her opinion). The portion sizes were good, the service was quick and the price was exactly as expected. Both meals we had were brilliant and wouldn't consider going anywhere else next time we visit. So much better than our local chippy at home which we consider to be pretty good in its own right.

I work all over the Peak District and have tried all the chippys. This one, for me is easily the best. The warm staff treat you like they actually value your custom, the food is consistently excellent and the prices are good. My fav meal from this chippy is battered haloumi, chips and curry sauce. Cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Full marks to the owners for everything they do.

Always call in here for fish and chips on our annual visit to Derbyshire, Fish cooked to order, generous portions. friendly staff. and extremely good value

Doner kebabs from here are excellent - we have one as an occasional treat now and again; we live 12 miles away but enjoy the drive through Matlock Bath/Crich to get there. We have had fish and chips before from here too - recommended! Service is good - staff friendly and prices are very reasonable. It’s always busy which is a good sign and very generous portions.

Barely edible old stale reheated chips, won’t be visiting again. Poor portion size but at least I didn’t go for the large💩

Disappointed. We’ve never had problems with the fish from here before but it just wasn’t enjoyable as previous times.

We had takeaway cod and chips with mushypeas, and drove back to our holiday cottage in Winster, the food was Still lovely and hot and delicious,.

It’s worth the trip (15 miles) to go here for the best fish and chips anywhere .the service is friendly and quick ,the food is fresh and hot ,can only say good things about them

Arrive late on our campsite needed something to eat just Darley Dale Fisheries open. Best fish and chips I’ve tasted. Even though closing time staff remained friendly, excellent service.

We had two deliveries from this beautiful place to our holiday lodges. The service and quality were amazing. Topped of by the lovely delivery service by a lovely young lady.

I visited Matlock for a few days from London, and I fancied fish and chips and stumbled upon this establishment and decided to give it a try. The fish was fresh and the chips were cooked perfectly and served in generous portions. I also tried a chicken wrap and a chicken kebab, and for the price you pay you get very generous portions and excellent service. When there for the second time, I was a few minutes late and they served a fresh portion of fish and chicken for the kebab, which was very considerate. Would highly recommend this place for when you're visiting the area, or driving through and fancy sole fish and chips. Wish we had a place as good as this in London.

We stopped off for some haddock and chips yesterday, and they were exceptional! The fish was cooked to order, without loads of greasy batter,and the chips were tasty too. Friendly service: highly recommended!

We regularly use the app to order online. It's very efficient. On Saturday night I ordered 2 Cod. However they phoned to say had no Cod, but offered to prepare Haddock just the way I like it. It was superb!

Superb food in a very safe environment. Really embraced adversity to provide a lifeline during this difficult time by providing good quality food. They put their heart and soul into making the freshest fish and best burgers around. Use the online app, easy to use and incredibly efficient. And if that wasn’t enough, lovely staff, service with a smile every time. And huge portions of chips!

Tried the recently added app, easily navigable and securely paid on line for the pre-determined new delivery service.The app is professional and ordered during the closure in the afternoon for a 6.15pm delivery (£2 extra). At precisely 6.15, a cheerful Abi delivered from an insulated bag a delicious, crispy Cod, chips, peas and gravy, superbly packed in boxes and still piping hot.Thanks Theo and team!

Popped in here, whilst staying at the Darwin Forest Lodges. I think the best we have tasted in a long time. Lovely and fresh.

Staying at the Darwin forest lodges, this was the nearest chip shop so family of 7 ordered takeaway. Was amazing food, huge portions, quick service and such reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone staying at the lodges.

Went here today purely by chance. So glad we did!Had Haddock and chips and and it was fabulous. The fish was cooked fresh as we ordered it and was cooked perfectly. The batter was tin and crisp and the fish was perfect. Could not fault it. Would really recommend this chip shop.

Stopped on our way through on Friday evening. Matlock was way too busy to sensibly distance in or outside of any of the chip shops so we carried on and came across darley dale fish bar. Good social distancing measures in place with clear signage. They were busy with online orders but were still offering a walk in service. The food was fresh and really tasty. Staff were friendly too. Appeared to be lots of locals waiting for orders which is usually a good sign. Cannot fault the food or the service. Would definitely visit again when in the area.

Stopped in on way back from visiting chatsworth house. Had fish and chips, both were hot fresh and well cooked, the batter on the fish was delicious

Horrible food what a rip off!! Oily old chips, rancid oil, fish that tasted like cardboard cheap and inferior quality. Ugh, this is not food to be consumed, just consigned to the bin!!

My Girl Guide group had our last meal for summer camp from here, we were able to order online and collect, it was a fantastic option and a delicious meal, a brilliant end to our camp!

Not much to write home about! Fish greasy and the chips were stale! Few canned drinks to buy! Rough location with awful locals to compare with! (They push the un-regular customers to back of the queue)

My partner picked up some food on his way home from work for tea, all I can say is I was very disappointed, there was 2 long hairs in my food and then a third stuck to my canned drink, also on the bottom of my can it was extremely dirty! (Picture added below) I really hope things improve before our next visit otherwise I won’t be eating here again ☹️

Just arrived in Darley Dale for a weekend and found this chippy. Wasn't disappointed very tasty fish and chips and decent portions. had a good choice of menu too.

Hi we travelled from chesterfield to try their Gluten Free fish and chips as advertised as this is done on a Wednesday evening. Hmmmm turn out not we were Very disappointed to be told on ordering that no there was none they hadn't had a delivery. A delivery of what I'm not sure but very poor service.

You can always rely on Theo and his staff to provide the classic English fish and chips here. If you want something different theres always a nice kebab which is just as good!

Whenever we visit a chippy I always ask for fish batter bits on top of my order and this is the first chippy I have been to which didn't have them. No big deal but disappointing. The chips were good but the fish cake was not to my liking. Again no big deal as my hubby ate them both so they were obviously to his liking. Limited parking on the front of the shop. The staff were friendly. One small criticism is that they don't put enough salt and vinegar on before wrapping your order.

Freshly cooked. Hot. Large portions. Great service. A good choice for a takeaway if in the area. Recommend.

Suggest you edit these on your website which states you are open 11.30am - 10.30pm. Went today at approx 4.00pm to find you closed. Not good customer relations and very disappointing.

We had driven passed Darley Dale Fish Bar several times during our holiday in the area. On one of the days we had packed so much in that we ended up having a late finish to the day and were absolutely cream crackered! I suggested a fish and chip tea so that we could just go back and relax after eating straight away. I was absolutely gutted to learn that they had run out of Yorkshire fishcakes (slice of fish between two slices of potato then battered.........delicious and worth trying if you've never had one, especially in a buttered bap with Henderson's Relish!), so we all opted for large cod and chips. 5 large cod, 3 large chips to share, 1 large battered sausage and 1 large mushy peas was a little bit pricey but I had ordered far too many chips (1 large portion would have been plenty for two adults and three children). Everything was cooked to order and still piping hot when we got back to our cottage. The chippy was busy when we went in and my only gripe is that he forgot to salt and vinegar our chips, said he would when we asked, and then forgot again. Not a scrap of fish was left over and everyone enjoyed their fuss free tea.

We had been out for the day and decided to have fish and chips as a take out. They were delicious, and still very hot when we got home, which took us 5 minutes. The staff were very friendly too.

We live around here the fish is absolutely awful, actually in 46 years it has to be the worst I have had, chips are ok but that’s about it, strange as not far away in wessington there is the best fish and chips one could ask for, makes you wonder why they wouldn’t look at competition. It’s just convenient and keep going back then afterwards think why, needs a new owner or someone that don’t put profit before quality, I would say just avoid

After moving to the area I was curious about what it'd be like to say you get use to your own chip shop, but these are so much better. Generous and not expensive. I'm so happy it's so close.

Buen pescado de la carretera y chips. He estado un par de veces antes y la calidad de la comida es siempre coherente. Sólo tengo probado pescado y patatas fritas, pero está bien servido por gente agradable y parece muy limpio y ordenado.

Para mí es pescado pescado y patatas fritas de patatas fritas, puedes conseguir buena una mala, pero nunca van a ser estrella Michelin comedor! Sin embargo, lo que hace que el bar de pescado fantástico es el personal amable y acogedor cada vez que voy.

Go regular and the food is always brilliant. The kebab is damn nice and the chicken portions are better than KFC. The chips are always well cooked and taste like Chip Shop chips should do. Would recommend to anyone

On hols in Matlock this week and heard good comments about Darley dale fish bar. My cod was over cooked and like rubber and the batter was hard. Also when we got back to cottage realised they had got the order wrong. Not impressed at all.

Omg the fish and chips are amazing, the best in Derbyshire. Parking can be a problem though. They also cook breakfasts among other foods.

Awesome food and the owners and staff are also great to deal with. Lots of options and true english fish and chips. Also great kebabs

Visited last night for a takeaway and the food was cooked superbly. Very quick turnaround and good value.

Finding Robinsons at Cromford closed decided to try the Darley Dale fish bar what a mistake bland tasting chips and definitely unfresh fish cooked in equally unfresh oil. Will definitely not be going back sooner have bread and dripping.

If your heading out and about in derbyshire make sure you call in at this chippy.This is probably the best chippy in derbyshire. Its in a great location on the a6 but parking to eat some of the finest chips around is hard to find. When people go out the door just to grab a taste of the chips you must be doing something right. If like myself live locally you will have tasted bakewell, matlock and matlock bath's chippys then you will know at busy times and weekends chippys rush and send you half cooked or smaller portions not at darley they are fantastic every time and huge portions. The staff are friendly and fast so even when busy your not hanging around long. Darley dale has a great menu so when you next going to visit local attractions think about stopping by darley and taste real fish and chips!!

This place is so nice I had dinner from here the other day and it was gorgeous and at a good price! The staff a very friendly aswell.

My mum and I had taken to the road on the Bank Holiday exploring the Peak District, travelling up hill and down dale but failing to stop in Buxton or Bakewell. We knew there was a reliably good chip shop in Belper - and any number of chip shops in Matlock - but we weren't sure we could hold out that long. So we stopped in Darley Dale and thought we were taking a bit of a chance but we couldn't have been any more delighted.The service was quick and efficient, polite and pleasant. Our fish and chips were fresh, hot, crispy and tasty. The fish batter was a little oily but otherwise it was perfectly cooked. Needless to say they didn't last long. The portions were modest (I think they could have been more generous) but it tasted great, so we were satisfied. And we can be very fussy. I think we've found another gem to add to our Derbyshire chip shop trail.

Went to order a chinese from next door but they were closed for New Year.Had to go home with something,so ordered from here.MISTAKE.!!Ordered scampi and chips for husband.He said they were O.K but its hard to mess up frozen scampi.I had the misfortune of ordering a double cheese burger.( look lovely on the photos in the shop)Lovely girl serving produced them from the freezer and slapped them on the grill.Nothing sizzled and she apologized saying "the grill is very slow".Didnt look very appertising as it was cooking.Got it home and took a bite. Spat it straight out.!!!!Still cold and raw in the middle and tasted off.Soggy salad. Just inedible.Straight in the bin.Wont be going back .Would rather starve.!!!!

waited a long time and was rewarded with burnt (not chargrilled) chicken meat which looked like it had been cooked in a bonfire with a thick crust of burnt ash on each piece of chicken. disgusting food.

Fresh and delicious - has to be the best fish and chips for miles around. A couple of tables to eat outside if the weather's fit otherwise eat them in your car straightaway - far too good to wrap and wait till you get home!
