Darjeeling Heights in Medway

We were a party of 10. They had just one waiter plus at times a manager for a Friday night. With most tables full and takeaway orders and a bar to run. The waiter did very well, considering. Even allowing for there being 10 of us, service was still horribly slow. 40 minutes came and went without us ordering food. We'd been there a few minutes short of 3 hours when we asked for the dessert menu out of desperation. Food was mixed. I had an excellent lamb dish. Korma tasted like it had been made with the filling from Bounty bars. Usually excellent rice pudding-ey thing for dessert was mostly milk.

Can't say we enjoyed the food as it was quite average. Naan was more like bread than a naan.

Couldn’t wait for us to order then couldn’t wait for us to leave. Hovered around like a vulture making it very uncomfortable. Asked for mild food and received a volcano including the lava (VV Hot) and expensive

Should of know as soon as we walked in really, only 2 tables were being seen to on a Saturday night. We were a table of 10 out to celebrate my mums 75th birthday. We ordered starters and drinks to get us going whilst we decided what to have for mains. We didn't enjoy the starters at all except the fish which was okay. We decided to get a take out instead, I spoke to the manger and he was not bothered and just smirked. The waiter on the other hand was very apologetic and said that he comes from Mumbai and the taste of the food is at best is okay and the portion sizes are small.

Good food. Fairly priced. Certainly will return.

Good menu nice food staff friendly the starter was rather small for the price and when we got home checked the bill against online menu prices and found we were charged about £30 more than the price adver

Lovley venue great food waiter was friendly and was helpful choosing our dishes ambience was lovley and food was lovley a little spicy for my partner was just right for me a nice touch was getting a valentine rose when paying the bill as well as complimentary chocolate would go again

Been a few times hence returning. Unfortunately the service was very slow (40 mins to take our food order) ordered a second round of drinks whilst waiting to place food order and after 20 minutes had to ask where our order was, to be told they hadn't got the order. Food was fantastic as usual once it arrived but service was way below average on this occasion. Just to note there was only 2 other tables on our arrival so wasn't busy!

Had a conference here. Starter was superb, main was ok. Customer service was brilliant from all the staff. Specially, Thanking Shehzad (hope spelling is correct) for wonderful customer service.

Best Indian ever had the food is amazing and not to pricy ,great service.

Excellent value Sunday lunchtime buffet. Such a shame the restaurant was so quiet when we visited. However, a very enjoyable experience.

Poor service all throughout, I’ve seen better microwave curries! Avoid at all costs

Awful experience! Came yesterday as a group of 14 at 8pm after being let down last minute by another so called “amazing” Indian restaurant. Was told they could accommodate for us all but clearly they was very wrong! Took half an hour to come and take our drinks order, which the drinks took a long time to come out, most of which were bottles of beer and wine, how long can that take? Then another hour after that for them to even take our food order, after asking several times for someone to come over. We had to ask several times when the food was coming out, they weren’t transparent at all, when the food finally came out just after 10.30 it was luke warm, congealed and tasted nothing like what was ordered, the food was half way through coming out and we paid for the drinks and left! Awful experience, didn’t even do tikka Ceylon or garlic chilli chicken. We came here 6 years ago and the service was appalling then, thought we’d give them a second chance, looks like nothing has changed! We will never be coming back.

Never had like this food in Kent totally rubbish food , they don’t know how to cook Indian food , we went with family in samosa chat there’s no samosa , also tikki chat was frozen , chilli paneer look like the cooked in beef gravy , restaurant owner don’t know how to talk when we complain about food saying don’t come to restaurant. I will advise to people don’t go to this restaurant, it’s not Indian , and I’m definitely going to complain food and hygiene, they doesn’t met food any hygiene standards , Just be ready for new inspection..

Our second time here first time was a couple of weeks ago, tonight we decided to celebrate our Anniversary. Service was impeccable, food absolutely delicious the waiters are very friendly will we will definitely come here again slightly more expensive than other restaurants that we have dined in but it is worth it when the food tastes so lovely 😊

Perfect lunch, very popular and soon filled up, I’m glad we booked….plenty of choice with quality ingredients. Starters and popadoms with pickles, then buffet lunch with plenty of choices. Lovely lamb curry which was so tender…every dish a delight, sadly I live 150 miles away but next time I’m in the area will go again.

My first time here and we were so impressed that we will be back. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. Inside the restaurant it was clean and plenty of room between the tables. It was quite quiet when we were there but would think a Friday/Saturday evening it would be much busier. The meal ended with complimentary chocolate and shot of baileys. Thank you for a wonderful evening

Had a nice meal at Darjeeling heights. Food was consistently good throughout the meal and staff were attentive, friendly and went out of their way to be welcoming to our son. When the food arrives the owner came and checked everything was OK. We ordered lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala and chicken dansak, two rice, a roti, naan and bombay potatoes and two starters. We had 6 poppadoms and 3 beers and the bill was £92. This seems higher than usual compares to other local indians. Would I go again? Yes! I think we would do Sundag lunchtimes for the buffet.

Every dish was tasty. The lamb was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend it.

We are regular customers of Darjeeling Heights and have seen the quality and flavour of the dishes become incredibly poor lately. Pre covid the restaurant had gone downhill and then improved, sadly the quality has now reduced drastically. The food was was super greasy and barely palatable. The meal dishes are a reasonable price but when you look forward to a Friday night takeaway and it’s disgusting in both size and taste, it’s pretty annoying. We are waving goodbye to this place, also this explains why the restaurant was empty during a busy period. Save your money and find another place for tastier food!

Good food, could of eaten much more, will return for a treat at Christmas

Tried this restaurant for the first time for a mid week dinner with my lady. Nice and clean inside, service was good, good selection of dishes on the menu. Food was served quickly and was hot, portion size good. My partner and I both enjoy our choices, will be back again.

This is the most prominent Indian restaurant in all of kent! After being greeted a king young man at the door I went straight through to sit down. Notably this young man and all the other staff were very welcoming and dressed in proper attire. After a short wait I was gifted with the excellent chicken tandoori masala. This rich dish was full of flavour which went perfectly with the mango lasse. Futhermore even my kids who do not tend to enjoy Indian cuisine were smitten after they indulged the chicken kourma.

Stale pompadoms got charged for 18 mains instead of 17 mains I got the wrong main meal. Snatched plate of my daughter before she finished her starter will not be going back. We was a party of 17 it was a 40th they will remember us like we remember there not so good experience. We spent nearly 5 Hundred pounds paid for a meal we never oredered

Fantastic traditional indian food and customer service was attentive and entertaining.

We came with quite low expectations to be fair and we’re pleasantly surprised. We were here in a large gathering - for a 50th birthday party. The reason I knocked the food down on score was because our food was served Luke warm. Yet the people’s opposite was steaming hot. My curry had a skin across it which was not appealing in the slightest. However the flavour was lovely. Had we been on our own we would have complained about the food being cold. But as we were in a large group we were not spoiling the party. On another note the waiters - were very few and far between for such a large group of people. But they made a fuss of the birthday boy which was nice. Would I go back again? I’m really fussy about my Indian food and love cooking it from scratch myself. YES we will go back. Let’s hope the food is hot next time.

We had a fabulous meal for my husband birthday last night. Food had amazing flavours and was very nicely presented. Our only issue is it was the hottest Biriyani that we have ever had and made our eyes and noses run 😫 Will have something less spicy next time. Staff very attentive and pleasant. Restaurant nicely decorated and ambience was nice. Overall a nice dining experience on a hot scale 😂 We will go back. Reasonably priced .

Very small selection for the buffet. Butter chicken is very sweet. Service was nice, though.

Delicious authentic Indian food.

We came here for a date night and had such a lovely time, we were seen to our table with drinks and poppadoms served quickly. The food was delicious, with good sized portions and good value for money. We will be back!

Great service, meal was amazing. Good value for money, the only let down was no disabled toilet. But overall good experience.

We have been to this restaurant and ordered some food. Mr Hassan, the waiter, was very rude. We overheard the comments he was with another waiter, Mr Milton. When we asked about it, he argued and said they could talk about anything about customers to each other—disappointed and Rubbish customer service.

I would have given 0 stars but there is no option for it . Really appalling service we ordered something and waiter Hassan was commenting behind our back loudly we overheard him saying why do they need sauces for such a small order or something it really put us off we couldn’t enjoy the whole experience . They judge people really quickly .

Went today for husband’s birthday as he so wanted to try it. We went for the buffet which was very limited. The staff were quite rude, not just to us but other tables. We spent quite a lot of money but we definitely won’t come back. So disappointed.

Really enjoyed our Sunday buffet ! Nice poppadoms, then hot starters and choice of various meals , including chicken ,lamb and paneer plus bombay potatoes and pilau rice . Great value and tasty

Unfortunately me and my family didn't have a great experience here. I booked a table online but when we arrived the staff told me that know one had written the booking in the diary. So we waited a while for a table. Once seated we were rushed to order and was told (rudely) that we had to have the buffet and couldn't order from the main menu. The staff weren't very nice and looked miserable, anytime we asked them something they shrugged us off. The food was very disappointing, especially the vegetarian "platter" which turned out to be 3 mini samosa's. Very disappointing birthday meal! I asked to speak with a manager but I was told he wasn’t there, found out later that he was there the whole time. Eventually I spoke with the manager who was lovely and apologised. He confirmed that he took my booking and that we can order from the main menu! He did offer to look after us next time we visit but I don't think we'll be going again.

The food was Devine. The way they talked to their female staff was appalling. The females'service was excellent. The men were abrupt.

A large family birthday meal out, with great attention to detail from friendly staff. No issues with food as it all tasted good, no mess up with the orders too. Only point to raise was when the food came out, it came out in stages, so had to wait for different bits to eat my meal as a whole.

Probably the worst Indian I’ve had, very bland taste. Certainly noting to shout about and not somewhere we would return at all. Also what didn’t help, staff member absolutely stunk of BO when reaching over, not present. Poor place.

As I travel all over the uk many reasturants vary in taste Darjeeling nights is one that raises expections The chicken puddna was quite exceptional moist chicken proper dark onion based sauce packed with flavour served with a garlic crispy nan every time i have been dining here 12 years on buisness never been disappointed i always dine here in rainham many thanks to hassam the waiter great service

Really bad service, waiting for a long period of time. They had a small selection of wine available, staff were not trained and did not understand what we were asking for. Bottle of wine arrived to the table but was not opened as it was a cork screw. When we went to leave manager tried charging us £18 for a Diet Coke, pint of Cobra & 2 popadoms (& an unopened bottle of wine). We shall not be going again, really bad customer service.

Came here on way back from Lincolnshire to the island. Late at night still got a table. Delicious food and a proper gentleman serving.

Have ordered takeaway collection here on a few occasions now. On 4 of those occasions they have forgotten food or drinks we've paid for and have had to go back to rectify the order, or we've had to check it before we leave and wait ages for them to cook the items we ordered hours before. Won't be ordering again from here, they need to find better staff who are able to process orders correctly. T

Booked a large table to celebrate a birthday and on arrival we weren't even booked in....the table service is shocking and the food was warm as it was sat under the air con. The variety of food was slim and not labelled properly. The dessert...

nothing to remember or charm you, menu is very limited, food is as usual like the others same sauce use to cook all curries, but you pay premium price for the same curry sauce, friendly staff and for a free parking.

OMG ...had our first takeaway last night after moving a year ago into the area ...food was first class ...so tasty + beautifully cooked... definitely now our local place for a curry...so looking forward to my Son visiting...visit to the restaurant a must 💖

First visit to Darjeeling Heights. Very nice environment. Lunch meal with friends. Very hospitable waiter and extremely helpful with regard to allergy needs. Delicious meal with good choices. Will definitely visit again.

Probably the best Indian I've ever had! I usually find it quite difficult to eat at an Indian due to my nut allergy, but they were so accomodating! 10/10 for appetisers, starters and mains. My cocktail was a bit disappointing but everything else was perfect!

went for the buffet on sunday. im not sure if this was an off day but it was awful. no where up to its usual excellent standards. service was really curt. it was stupidly hot in there to the point of us all stripping down...

Not a normal curry house. This is much better quality. A more contemporary menu. Very good indeed.

We have visited Darjeeling Heights on a number of occasions (lunch and evening) and have always found it a wonderfully relaxed place, with lovely, friendly and knowledgable staff, an extensive menu, caring service and presentation - and good beers! Always try something different each time...

We had a fabulous meal at Darjeeling Heights, when we visited the restaurant whilst on a family holiday. Customer service here was second to none. We were very much well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The staff made us feel very welcome and was interacting with the kids, which is very rare nowadays! The food, well, we would be certainly eating here every weekend, if we could! Everything was extremely well cooked and so tasty. The prawns were massive! The butter chicken was to die for!! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The breads tasted so good. Even down to the dessert, we ordered the Kulfi, the kids loved it! I, myself, don't like things too spicy, and the waiter made sure he conveyed my requirements to the chef, especially for the kids too. They really know the meaning of great customer service. We will definitely be back to this restaurant when we are next down south. The best Indian restaurant we have eaten in. Thank you for the great hospitality and the amazing food.
