Best chips I've had in a very long time 10/10 all soft and lovely and fresh , Good sized portions , Friendly staff , very clean inside and lovely well priced cheap kids meals very helpful with cost of living

Great chippy, service is outstanding, and a sense of urgency was delivered with my order over the counter. All service "As I Call it" is outstanding when you work in retail, as you have yo be on your toes, Now, to the order, the dancing octopus food is to the highest standard fresh and ready to eat, I got home, and the big test as I call it is it still hot and Edible, Hell yes it was roasting hot and I enjoyed .

This is the only place for me, pleasant friendly staff and excellent food.

Best chip shop in the area by far. Chips are always fresh, batter is always crispy and not soft, and the curry sauce is properly thick, none of that spicy water. Brilliant chippy

Staff were great and friendly people! (: Fish was freshly cooked, plenty of fish given and tasted amazing. Great portion of chips with a nice texture and flavour. Curry sauce and burgers up to standard, would recommend taking a visit, one of the best chippys I have had.

Allow me to take my E scooter inside so nobody steals it. And leave next to the door. The staff are amazingly friendly, the food is brilliant quality, and reasonably priced, large sausage chips peas gravy and a small portion of chips (might I add easy enough for 3 people) £8 My mum also calls in here for chips on her way passed whenever she visits me from belfast. She loves it

Pleasant experience, lovely staff! Chips were decent. Opted for the curry sauce and in hindsight, should have gone with the Chinese curry as the normal curry was nothing exciting. I think I hyped myself up for the fish as I assumed the fish would be fresh and when I ate it, it didn't taste fresh. Otherwise, it was a good experience overall.

Great takeaway with good quality food at affordable prices. Eg Donna meat and chips £4.80 compared with Hartshill chippy £7.00 for same meal.

I'm really fussy about what I have at a chippy. Recently moved to Castle and really fancied one, the closest to me was this one, got what I wanted and being honest it was perfection. I only normally have chips, jumbo sausage and a curry sauce. Really enjoyed it and will be going back. Cash only so beware and enjoy

Went to buy fish and chips this evening after checking opening times on website. Said open 2pm till 8pm , got there at 7.15 pm and it was closed ! Won’t be bothering again.

Had a sign in the window saying “open til 7” and were clearly serving regulars inside, however, we were told “no service” at 17.50 as our faces presumably didn’t fit. Appalling service. Won’t be returning.

I've been coming here since I was a child. It was another good opportunity since I was in the area and needed something to eat, before we headed to the theatre. Food, as always, was great. The portion sizes were also massive. Staff were great and although we had a bit of a wait, it was well worth it.

Fantastic chips, been going here for decades, my favourite chip shop. I travel a fair way past other chippy. They often give you too many chips to be honest.

Very greasy food. Pretty slow. Overall okay - we only visited as we were on the way past. Parking was lacking as well.

I have had 1 poor experience when the chips i was served looked and tasted like they had sat in cold fat so i didnt go back for quite a while. I have been back recently and the standard of food has improved greatly and i was impressed with the standard, the staff are always friendly and i witnessed them constantly cleaning their work areas when not serving the customers. I now will use this chippy again with no hesitation

Good food n good portions. Queuing is a bit of a challenge as it blocks the doorway.

Touted as the best fish and chips in Newcastle under Lyme but I can only say it’s not the best I have tried in the United Kingdom. Was too hungry to take pictures of the actual order but now my curiosity is out of the way (been wanting to try this place for so long but they do not appear on any of the food ordering platforms), I’ll be trying other places to compare who’s best in the neighborhood. The staff were very friendly and nice and offered the kids some sweets while we waited in the sweltering summer heat. Be sure to have cash as they do not accept cards

Tasteless fish (cod on breadcrumbs), literally couldn't taste anything at all. The chips weren't cooked properly, some were still hard and very, very greasy. Won't be returning considering how pricey everything was. £2.30 for a microwaved pie...

Highly recommend, I’d also suggest ordering over the phone and then collecting. By the time I got there it was ready for me!

fish in breadcrumbs is awesome. food is always hot. staff are very friendly and chatty. yes they do have a off day. but they are few and far between. they take phone orders. the only down side is cash only, would love them to take card payments.

Hello I had a fish and chips and it was rather nice but I later found out it was not a good fish and chips it was rather projectile and smelly, not good mate

We pulled in the layby by chance, service with a smile and really helpful, the fish and chips were the nicest ever tasted. Crispy outside, soft inside and not greasy at all perfectly yummy. We are definitely going back there even though we live an 120 minutes drive away.

The service itself is very quick and the staff are polite, but the fish was tasteless. They served the fish over the chips wrapped in the same paper, making the fish soggy by the time I got home. Chips were like cardboard.

Probably the best 'fish and chips' shop in and around Newcastle-under-Lyme area. Fresh produce, with a variety of food and helpful staff that are patient with you. The fish and chips are a standard, but definitely the nicest option. There is a reason this place is always busy!

cold tastless. had haddock and if you closed your eyes you wouldnt be able to tell it from mashed patato. this place used to be good but really gone off

Use this chippy mainly on a Sunday as it's good to see a chippy opening on the Sabbath. Very nice food here and piping hot

Grew up in the area and Dancing Octopus always used to be good. Returned when visiting family in the area and was horrified by the standard of the food. My fish cake was so dry it was like a hockey puck. I didn’t eat it and it was so bad, I didn’t even offer it to the dog. My wife’s mushy peas and chips had congealed into a awful green mess. The fish was 90% batter and the chips were very average. Overall it was absolutely awful. Avoid!
