Myself and seven friends had the most wonderful afternoon tea at Dancing Goat coffee house in Hull. The variety of sandwiches and savouries where fantastic plus scones and yummy cakes all the food was hand made and served by such happy and helpful staff. I would personally give this place 10 stars and more if I could. There is also a variety of hot and cold light bites to suit everybody. Please give it a try.

Having only booked the table the day before and new to this lovely place, I was very excited to see if all the great reviews were true. I had taken my 14 year old granddaughter for a girly treat and it was her first experience of afternoon tea, we were not disappointed, we were greeted very warmly by a lovely lady who settled us at our table and offered a drinks immediately, obviously we had the tea and it was piping hot and plentiful, the afternoon tea itself was very fresh and tasty, and we especially enjoyed the warm quiche, my granddaughter thought it was the best experience ever, which as anyone knows is high praise indeed from a teenager. A friendly, spotlessly clean place, with great fresh food to while away a couple of hours. We will definitely return and highly recommend to others.

We had breakfast here, which was lovely, good portions and great value for money, the hazelnut coffee was amazing and the staff were very friendly. It is in a great location with on street parking (although sometimes can be very busy thus hard to get parked). There can be a lot of homeless hanging around this area which may make some feel uncomfortable when dining outside, however this can not be helped. Overall we had a lovely time and we will definitely be dining there again.

We have visited The Dancing Goat cafe on numerous occasions and can safely say from our experiences that this is by far one of the best and most consistent, cafes in this area of Hull. Staff: The staff are always extremely friendly and try their upmost to ensure that your experience is of the highest standard. They can recommend from the menu and are always willing to be flexible should you require and suitable small changes for personal preference. We also enjoy watching their small goat mascots as they make their adventures not only around the cafe, but across the world!! Food: Food is always prepared and served to a high standard and in the prompt manner that you would expect from a lunch meal. We have not yet experienced an afternoon tea here, but it is an important point to note that if there are multiple afternoon tea's taking place in the cafe whilst you are dining, you still feel like a valuable customer who will not be forgotten or neglected - well done! Occasions: We have seen advertisements for special nights here (psychic nights, set menu themed meals, etc...) but also have not been fortunate enough to attend but one of our favourite special touches is their Christmas advent calendar. This is when a random customer each day (from children to elderly) is chosen to receive a small treat. It is a combination of all the above that places The Dancing Goat so highly in our opinions and why we shall continue to return so frequently. Well done!

We bought a voucher for afternoon tea for for a family member and were only left embarrassed and disappointed! We love to support local businesses and seeing as the cafe had won awards we decided to buy an afternoon tea voucher as a birthday present. However, we were only left embarrassed and disappointed! They decided to have it as a takeaway and had prearranged this. On arrival to the cafe they were told it had been booked in for the wrong day (then checked the diary...no apology received) and then had to wait for it to be put together with no offer of a cup of tea whilst waiting (that would have been included if they had stayed). On getting home they opened the boxes to discover the "deluxe afternoon tea" (see photos). Looks like it had been thrown together by a 5 year old - one random piece of brown bread and tiny cakes and pieces of quiche. Family returned to the cafe to discuss their upset to have everything thrown back in their face. Yes being vegetarian isn't a food allergy but would it have taken much to respect someones wishes to have the sandwiches separate from the meat? We gave the staff chance to make things right before writing this review but they were not interested in any feedback and just caused further upset. Not a business we will be supporting in the future.

We rang the dancing goat last week with the intention of having afternoon tea that day, unfortunately we where told that you have to book in advance, this being due to the fact that staff go in early in a morning and bake especially for it. So of course we booked a table. On arrival where shown to our table which was set with a white table cloth and vintage china, all very nice except for the fact that the table next to us was only 2 feet away and Was occupied.it was so close you could hear every word spoken. But we where looking forward to eating as the cakes on the counter looked very nice. Unfortunately we where very disappointed when our afternoon tea arrived the cake stand consisted of 6 small cakes on the top which where bite sized and didn’t look appealing at all, the scones on the middle plate where however very nice, on the bottom plate there was a small square of quiche and the sandwiches which where grated cheese, tuna and ham made up from 2 slices of sliced bread each and a egg mayo which was on a small round from a baggette. In all we where very disappointed especially with the cakes. We would have been happier with a pice of cake from the counter.

£2.70 will get you one of the most delicious hot chocolates you have had. This is no small affair, choose your flavour, syrup and topping. Nice little place. Food was very nice and tasty. I had the Club Sandwich, which I have had in many places before, because it's one of my favourites. The only criticism is they use thin bread for the Club, which I feel does not do this sandwich justice. Places I have visited before use Medium or Thick. Which makes this Club Sandwich much better and more satisfying.

I had the best club sandwich I have ever had. As we were both so full we decided to share a piece of cake and that was outstanding. Relaxed coffee shop positioned a little way from the bustling Newland Avenue - well worth the extra 5 minute walk to get to. Lovely, spacious, airy venue, well spaced tables, muted decor but with a welcoming feel. Definitely not as frenetic as another well-known coffee shop in the locale and, in my opinion, much better for it. Friendly, helpful staff and very quick service. Very clean too which always counts for a lot. Excellent selection of standard coffee shop fare (hot & cold sandwiches, cakes, salads, breakfast items) and at a very reasonable price (£4ish for extremely tasty paninis). Obviously some thought and ability goes in to the creation and presentation of the dishes. Overall, pleasantly impressed. Not somewhere I'd go to 'wow' anyone (it's 'only' a coffee shop, after all) but for a very nice breakfast/brunch/lunch or a relaxed drink, I think you'd be hard pushed to find much nicer in the area. Definitely on my 'revisit' list.

Attracted to the name of the café, I went to The Dancing Goat after having just arrived from the airport. It proved to be a very nice experience: good food, sandwiches as well as coockies, good coffee and tea, and a friendly service, though somewhat shy. Apparantly, they are not used to visitors from abroad with strange accents. The clientele is mostly middle-aged and local, mixed with university employees. The café does not seem to attract students, Strangely enough. If you want to have a decent lunch in a quiet atmospere nearby the university, you definitely should go here.

First of all I should mention that the Terry's orange hot chocolate is great, Instant favorite! The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because my panini took 30-40 minutes to cook on a relatively quiet day and still managed to be undercooked and lukewarm when served. The cheese in the centre was unmelted and the bread of the panini was doughy and soft.I'd have been less annoyed if it was burned because at least then the 30-40 minute wait could have be justified!

Popped in for a quick coffee to see what it was like after reading the reviews. First impressions were of disappointment as although fairly busy looked pretty much like any other cafe. The menu did look interesting but we settled for coffee, toasted teacake for me and carrot cake for my wife. Coffee and teacake came promptly but we had to remind the staff about the carrot cake. When it came it was enormous and looked scrumptious. It was apparently delicious but I never got a look in! The quality made up for the delay but didn't make us want to rush back.

Tried the new evening menu available on a weekend. There were 3 of us and we decided to try a selection of the dishes between us. We had the BBQ pulled pork starter, the chicken and pesto focaccia and the mediterranean platter, all of which were absolutely delicious! Service was faultless and made for a lovely evening. We were also really impressed with the portions, we definitely did not come away hungry! The prices were also really reasonable. We will definitely be returning, can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

The Dancing Goat isn't situated in the best venue, but that is quickly forgotten when you taste the delights that they offer. From the wonderful and tasty paninis to the amazing home made carrot cake, everything I have eaten here has been an absolute delight. The portions are plentiful, tasty and impossible to leave, the service is excellent, the staff always have a smile and chat to you as they work. Now that they have a licence to serve alcohol it won't be long before I'm back there to sample the new menu washed down with a nice cold glass of vino. Excellent all round - highly recommend

I went here for the first time with a colleague for lunch. The prices are excellent (everything is under £5) and her bacon, feta and walnut salad was huge. I asked for a salad sandwich as I am vegan which was adequate, but they only charged me £2 so I shall not grumble too loudly. I also had a really tasty iced green tea. We sat in the courtyard at the back which was sheltered and very cute. The staff could probably do with a bit of training as they seemed scared of customers! I'd like to see what the evening menu offers, but as a place to go for lunch I'd say give it a go!"

I always manage to be tempted into this place whenever my cousin comes to visit me, which is often enough. I always opt for the green tea with a hint of lemon and the chicken and jalapeño panini which never fails to deliver in taste and sustenance, I wish I could broaden my horizons however as the salads always sound incredible and if I ever have a spare Thursday evening I would check out fajita night. My only fault is the dessert, you have to stop tempting me! I always fall for the "I'll walk it off" with the moreish rocky road and it's huge servings. This place is so welcoming and I could not reccomend highly enough, best of luck to the girls that run it :)

Great little cafe that I can't seem to keep myself out of! The service is always friendly and nearly always quick. I can't comment on their coffee but their hot chocolates and frappes are great! If you're going for food try the chicken tikka wrap.

Really nice little cafe, been a few times and had the mediterranean chicken salad each time I've been which is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is really nice and they have lots of lovely cakes on display. I was able to buy some cakes and take them home to eat at a later time which was nice. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back

My friend and I had a lovely lunch here today. I had chicken salad and my friend had a panini. The chicken salad was delicious, hard to believe it was £4.50! The cakes looked scrummy, I'll be having one of those next time. Really nice, relaxing place, excellent value and warm, friendly service from the girls.

This place rarely disappoints. All of the staff are always very friendly and the atmosphere is quite relaxed. The salads and hot chocolates are great and good value for money. I find the cakes good, but usually not quite as good as they look and similar with the paninis which might have a bit too much cheese, making them a bit greasy.

Great, quirky little café with friendly staff. The salads are a bargain, and the paninis are very tasty too. Always a selection of homemade cakes and treats which are all worth a try. The hot chocolate is by far the nicest hot chocolate I've had - tastes just like molten chocolate orange!

Use this coffee shop regularly the panini's are a great size and plenty of filling for a reasonable small amount of money I've been to others and paid £6 for something half the size and half as tasty! The atmosphere is great the girls are very friendly. Fajita night is an absolute bargain £5 for a side dish and fajita (served with all the trimmings too) either chicken or vegetarian option, and nachos I'd your really hungry. Keep up the good work ladies !!

Tried this with a friend & we were mightily impressed with the service & food. Both had mediterranean chicken salad served in a large angled bowl with olive bread - delicious. Plenty of chicken & very reasonably priced. Will be coming again.

I have eaten here a few times and on entering I'm always looking around at the quirkiness of this unique coffee shop. I love the décor and the atmosphere. The food and drinks are always such good value for money. Everything I have had to eat there has not failed to impress my high standards and is always served with a smile. I particularly like the 'nanna style tea cups and saucers' and a real teapot that actually keeps your brew hot!! Although from Hull I don't live there anymore but I am certainly looking forward to visiting Dancing Goat on my return at the end of this month for a goats cheese salad, a slice of cake and a hot brew served in a lovely tea cup and saucer. A great place to catch up with friends.

What is not to love about this place! Firstly the coffees are the best I've had, the food is also great, from a wide range of hot melting paninis, to the best salads ever, I personally love the goats cheese, bacon and walnut! They also have soups and jacket potatoes. I go regular and it gets very busy, even at these times the service is second to none!! The girls always have a friendly smile as you walk through the door and can't do enough for you. I have a small child and there is also something on the menu for them! All round by far the best coffee shop around this area.

I cannot believe I have waited until now to try this restaurant. Chose the sirloin with pepper sauce, the steak was huge and cooked to perfection, the pepper sauce was the best I’ve ever had. Sides Of onion rings and French fries. The batter on the onion rings was light and crispy. From walking through the door to leaving, the service was first class, yet we was welcomed like family. Already looking at dates to book another visit. Definitely the best restaurant in hull.
