Came on Sunday evening with friends. We ordered the garlic breads, anchovies and almonds to start. We then had some chicken dishes and potatoes. That was followed by crema catania which is a softer version of creme brulee

I have been spending extended periods in Spain for decades and love Spanish food with a passion. Tapas in the UK is usually a far cry from the authentic grub that you find in most bars and restaurants in Spain. I was prepared to be disappointed. However, their Tapas was as good, if not far better than anything I'd eaten in Spain. I was, frankly startled! The portions were very generous...more like Raciones than Tapas and for that amount of food their prices are extremely reasonable. The staff are all Spanish and they were attentive and courteous. This place deserves to have queues at their door. Lesser restaurants do so I can only imagine that it remains a bit of a secret. If you like Spanish food you won't find better this side of the Pyrenees! Seriously! Thanks. Gary.

Worst Spanish restaurant in London food was late and cold when we complained staff was arrogant and rude we will never visit this place again.

Close to Wanstead Station, although on main road could be easily passed but do not as it’s a hidden gem. Managed to get a same day Saturday booking over the phone. The staff are welcoming. Service was a good pace and was neither too slow or rushed. There was no menu online but we still gave it a go based on the reviews online and hoped it would be authentic food, good portion sizes and reasonably priced, which it was and did not disappoint. The sangria was spot on, just like in Spain. The food had lots of flavour and tasted true to taste. The ultimate star was the baby squid - hard to find, yet generous portion size. One gripe would be - please put churros on the dessert menu, would have very much completed the meal with perfection. Will definitely visit and probably be go to for place for Tapas in the future.

Brilliant local Wanstead restaurant with fresh, quality authentic Spanish tapas. We came here on a Saturday night for a family meal out. The service was impeccable - all staff members were attentive and lovely! The wine list was also good. We had a delicious bottle of chilled cava. Food was 10/10 - lots of lovely fish/ meat and vegetarian tapas to choose from. The gambas al ajillo were particularly tasty as were the albóndigas, pulpo and gambas (with shell). Desserts were also fabulous. The fresh tarts in particular! Have spent a lot of my childhood and adolescence in southern Spain I really felt I was transported back to a local tapas bar. It was a magical experience and we can’t wait to go back. The prices are also extremely reasonable compared to anything else in the Wanstead/ east London area. Finally, cleanliness was 10/10. I have had some issues with London restaurants being absolutely filthy - however this restaurant was immaculate. Staff cleaned the table in between courses even. You must visit! We have explored most restaurants in Wanstead and this was hands down the best experience for food quality, cleanliness, price and service. Thank you so much for the amazing evening. We will be back!

Good choice of food excellent and will come back again and try something different next time I would recommend it to anyone

I visited with friends the other night as we wanted a change. I then realised I had been here before, albeit 18 years ago. Anyway, there were good choices on the menu. I had the anchovies, which were delicious followed by 2 different chicken on a skwer. We shared the dishes. We then decided to have dessert. I chose the creme "brulee". It was different to the French version, the burn sgar being harder and the creme being softer. Still very good.

We haven’t been here in while, visiting some friends who live in the area. They really like going here and I have to agree with them. The food, staff and atmosphere is excellent, I highly recommend this restaurant, great tapas.

Wonderful place. Good service, great food and lovely atmosphere. We ordered three tapa starters (for 3 people) which was way too much as the portions are huge if your planning on having a main as well. Our favourite starters were the cheese and the mushrooms. Paella was lovely, but we should have shared one between two after the tapas! If your a hungry bloke it's plenty for one. The wine is good and we had a bottle of the rose and a bottle of red. It's not a huge mark up and even the cheaper end of the wine menu is still tasty. Would recommend for dates or just a meal with friends.

Staff were lovely and offered great service. Sangria tasted like fruit juice concentrate and was not good or authentic. Meatballs and sauce was bland. Pollo Canario, great chicken skewers, but the potatoes that followed was Patatas Bravas which has nothing to do with the canaries. The mojo picon sauce that followed was not a mojo picon. It tastes like tomato sauce/ketchup which is truly a miss on trying to be Canarian cuisine. Croquetas was ok. Not authentic enough for me to come back for now.

I have been a customer, diner and friend of Dama De Elche for nigh on 30 years. Like many long term relationships, you can sometimes take them for granted. Covid was an enforced separation, and “events dear boy, events” have kept me away since London was resurrected. I strolled in for a solo supper this week, (management was on tour,) and it was astonishing – astonishingly good, astonishingly vibrant, astonishingly better than I can remember – and it was always pretty good. Elena, George and Costas have the reins now, and they have reimagined and reinvented a much loved classic. George’s unique art adorns the walls, and Elena is probably the most comforting and welcoming Maitre’D I know. Lockdown has led to a complete refurbishment, with new furniture, brighter walls and a modern aesthetic ladled in Tapas charm. The menu has been updated, with faithful classics front and centre and some artful new additions - monkfish and prawns was sublime. The house white was a revelation – fresh, crisp, simply perfect. They have even thrown caution to the wind and invested in some quite fantastic new crockery, that would not look out of place in Le Gavroche. Dama De Elche has the warmth and feel of a favourite aunt or an old lover, always welcoming, pleased to see you and a silkily splendid experience. If you haven’t been before, go now, go soon, and they will welcome you like an old friend. If you have been before, you know what to expect, though somehow it has got better.

Invited to what I thought would be a bite to eat at a tapas place turned out to be a fabulous Spanish fine dining experience at this lovely family run restaurant. My hosts knew the staff including Manuel the owner, Eleanor and the team who made our group of 6 so welcome with big table. The decor and ambience is very homely and no loud music so you can chat. The best bit though is the food which is amazing. An extensive menu of tapas with huge choice of meat, fish and vegetarian options. We ordered a mix of dishes including: spicy chicken livers, baby octopus, garlic chicken, stuffed aubergine and breads to share. We had all the time we needed to eat and chat, no pressure clear the table or order mains. The tapas were filling but some of our group ordered mains which we shared. Paella was lovely as was the chicken in cream sauce and lamb chops. I had a bit of each leaving room for a delicious creme brulee Espanol style, while others had Irish coffees. As a guest I didn't pay, but whatever the bill came to I would happily have paid as the whole food and restaurant experience was just that .... an experience. Having told my wife how amazing the food was looks like I'll be returning with her to enjoy this classic Spanish dining experience which I recommend to anyone in and around Wanstead.

Really enjoyed our second visit here in the space of a few weeks. The staff are very friendly and attentive to needs. The sangria is one of the best we've ever had and the food is also excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice also. I'd definately recommend to those who wish to visit Wanstead.

So disappointed. I’ve eaten here regularly if not very frequently over the years, Tonight’s tapas was very disappointing. It was all ok but no more -and several were very below par. Nothing apart from the salad seemed freshly prepared. I didn’t recognise any staff either -has it changed hands? I won’t be returning anytime soon I am sorry to say.

Really disappointed to return to my favourite restaurant in Wanstead to find that the new staff are rude and unable to understand our needs. I won’t be rushing back 😢

Tried this restaurant on recommendations from friends and it has now become a regular favourite for me and the hubby over the last few months. Staff and service have always been great, on every occasion. We normally order a selection of tapas, and have literally tried most items on the menu, all of which are delicious. Only downside to the restaurant is it can get extremely busy at these weekend, so booking early is essential.

Empezaré con los aspectos positivos. La sangría, el servicio, las croquetas de verduras y el chorizo estaban muy bien pero, sinceramente, todo lo demás era simplemente horrible. En cuanto a platos realmente decepcionantes, en primer lugar las patatas bravas tenían esta salsa blanda y amarga espesa y las patatas que se utilizaban eran como patatas asadas congeladas de Islandia, las abondigas se servían en la misma salsa además de carecer de cualquier tipo de condimento. y lo mismo ocurre con las tapas de chorizo en cuanto al condimento y se sirve con la misma salsa. Me decepcionó mucho lo caro que era todo por la baja calidad que tenía. He estado en muchos restaurantes de tapas, así como en puestos de mercado, que hacen tapas mucho más bonitas y por casi el mismo precio.

We love this restaurant. We visit any chance we get on our mini holidays from the Midlands. Service and food excellent, as usual. Sangria was delicious and freshly made. Nice cosy surroundings and a comfortable atmosphere. See you again soon.

We were introduced to this lovely tapas restaurant by a relative and visited again last night for the occasion of my youngest son’s birthday. The food, ambience and service were all first class and I’m delighted that we chose to go to Dan’s de Elche

Este restaurante es una verdadera joya en el área local, y la comida es deliciosa, debo decir.El servicio es excelente y amable y no tengo ninguna queja al respecto.Sin embargo, algunos de los platos de tapas son demasiado caros para lo que son.Entre otros platos, pedí una salchicha catalana para 6. 50, y básicamente era una salchicha a la mitad en salsa, ¡que me pareció demasiado cara para ese precio! El sabor de las tapas era bastante bueno pero nomerecer un 5.El servicio era bueno, pero si vas cuando el restaurante está vacío, ¡es lo que uno esperaría! Maravilloso restaurante, comida para dos domingos. Como siempre pasamos un tiempo maravilloso. La comida es excelente, auténtica, gran selección también disponible en el tablero de selección diario. He estado en un restaurante en un par de ocasiones y he estado relativamente satisfecho con el servicio y la calidad de la comida. También he tenido un par de noches de San Valentín en el pasado que han sido agradables.Visité anoche para San Valentín y quedé muy decepcionado. Aparte de algunos globos, no hay decoraciones reales. Sin menú especial, sin vaso de Prosecco de cortesía, sin rosa para las damas como en años anteriores. El mismo menú con un par de especiales, de hecho, solo otra noche normal que no es lo suficientemente especial para el Día de San Valentín.

Six of us went here to celebrate my wife's birthday on Saturday and every aspect of the evening was a hit. Had reserved a table (a must for peak times) and although it was 30 mins before our order was taken , it made no difference to the lovely experience and the special occasion. Great atmosphere, attentive service, brilliant tapas selection and sensible prices for what you get. Deep fried manchego with apple purée, chicken & chorizo paella , fried cod chunks, padron peppers....etc .Will definitely go back, Loved it.

Visited with a group of friends for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They gave us a big round table and the food was really tasty. We had a mix of paella’s and tapas dishes followed by dessert including a really nice homemade almond cake. Makes a nice change to have a tapas restaurant locally. The only things that could be improved are the drinks menu and service from the female waitress.

i was there just few days ago and i found out that all is changed ! i don't know if is under new managment ,for sure the chef and kitchen staff don't know the Spanish kitchen well, was so sad don't find anymore the amazing and tasty dishes as before. Please bring back the previous chef at list .

Went there with my family , the food was so tasty and the service on point. Everything was so amazing definitely recommend this place. Everyone was so friendly also. I just loved it .

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal in this busy restaurant. I think they were over booked but handled the situation very well. The menu is extensive and we took the advice to have 3 Tapas dishes each. They came when they were ready which was authentic. They were all delicious and the sharing element was fun. It was good to see the fresh fish on offer before we made our final decision. We had desserts too although this menu was not as extensive as the main menu. Roughly £25 each to include drinks and tips so value for money. Would return if ever in this area again.

Ok I am not a tapas lover for an evening meal. I like a starter, main course and a desert. I'm willing to enjoy it if you get exceptional food on the small plates. My husband and daughter enjoyed it. I found the food mediocre. My salmon and fennel cream turned out to be one small salmon fillet cut in half. No fennel cream just a spoonful of courgette, tomato,aubergine? in tomato sauce.I should have queried it but didn't. My fried potatoes were not particularly nice - neither crispy nor hot and I asked for it with out the garlic mayonnaise as I saw, from another table, that it was dolloped on rather than in a pot on the side. The garlic prawns (not many) came sizzling and hot so no complaint there but my daughter's deep fried manchego cheese with apple sauce very uninspiring as was her plate of two sardines with a bit of lettuce. One house wine lacked any character (my husband just ordered a glass of house white. There were three to choose from I noticed when I went to order a different one). When I ordered another after asking which one I had been given the waiter was going to check saying there were two? different ones. I just asked for the other one which was much better. But I don't have the name.

Very easily booked a table for 2 online. Wasn’t too busy for a Friday night. The waiters and waitress were very attentive, filling the jug of water without being asked. The food was great, especially the octopus and pork shoulder! Lovely flavours and perfect portion size. The price for the both of us to have plenty of food, a dessert each and a few drinks was very good value for money. We’ve been before and will certainly be going back!

This is a wonderful restaurant with friendly staff! The tapas were delicious and we had the group set menu and ordered additional dishes. I would definitely book in advance as this place gets very popular! The cocktails are lovely!

Had another excellent dinner with my partner at this great restaurant. I had Parma ham and melon starter, she chose prawns. We both had fillet steak with peppercorn sauce. Sorbet ice creams to finish. Great value, friendly staff, very clean.

After reading some trips advisor reviews looking for a good Spanish tapas a came across this place, I’m so happy I did! The food is better than most restaurants in Spain, I was so happy with all the dishes and my favourite was the paella, also they have the nicest group of staff made us feel welcome and delivered great service

I lived in Spain and I wouldn’t class this as real Spanish food. The paella was super greasy and didn’t have the nice crispy bits on the bottom and the sangria tasted like soda water with a hint of red wine.

Cuando unas amigas nos dijeron de ir a este restaurante a cenar, mi marido y yo les sugerimos ir a otro español ya que el año pasado por estas fechas estuvimos nosotros y como españoles nos decepcionó bastante. Ni el dueño ni ningún trabajador son españoles, el chef es pakistaní y eso se nota mucho en la gestión del servicio y el sabor de la comida.

My husband and I were told about this place as he loves Tapas so we decided to give it a try! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel totally unwelcome and were not shown ANY of the courtesies which some other patrons (who obviously go often) were shown: NOT told about specials, NOT shown the joint of Serrano ham which the manager brought to certain customers but not others! and NOT communicated with AT ALL. Even when taking our order, we were met with stony silence. I wasn't sure if race played a part in their treatment of certain customers but regardless the contrast in our treatment to other patrons was abominable.

Had a really lovely evening for my sisters birthday tonight. The food was really nice and the staff were so friendly and relaxed. I would recommend this restaurant if you want a cosy relaxed evening and good Spanish food. The cocktails were lush too!

We have visited on many occasions in the last year and have been rather disappointed with the food.

We booked ahead, although it was quiet when we arrived at 6:30pm on a weekday. The place soon began to fill up and as we tucked in to our chosen tapas, it was easy to see why. The range of tapas was wide and interesting and the ones we chose were delicious and ample. I would recommend the 3 tapas each deal. On this occasion, we tried the draught Spanish beer instead of wines which we’ll opt for next time. The service was very good and food arrived in good time. Highly recommended!

First of all, I am from Spain. I have been in this restaurant over 10 times in the last five years and we are now regulars. I have seen how the quality of the food has been improving over the years, especially in the last few months, due to a new chef from Madrid was hired. The food she cooks is amazing!

5 of us ate here after my friend who joined us went the night before and telling us how good it was. Very friendly service and very tasty food was served, for the main course I had the sea bass which really was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and for people who understand tapas this was good. Will be back .

Paella (or Valencian paella as the only paella is from Valencia) is made of chicken and rabbit. NEVER surf and turf, PLEASE. EVER.

An absolute gem just round the corner!

La primera vez que fui en Febrero, me prometí no volver. Soy español y me resultó sumamente penoso comprobar como a cualquier cosa se le llama comida española. Nos pedimos un surtido de tapas y después una paella. Las tapas la mayor parte horribles: las gambas al ajillo...duras y sin ningún sabor, la tortilla...recalentada y mala, las croquetas... las peores que he comido en mi vida, los buñuelos de bacalao... una plasta de harina con sabor a bacalao, la berenjena... en ningún sitio de España la berenjena se rellena con lentenjas al curry, la empanada...¿Empanada? eso era queso empanado y frito, la empana en España es otra cosa. Se salvaron los calamares, los chipirones y la paella que sin ser nada extraordinaria, estaba buena.

The best Spanish restaurant we have ever been to!! The atmosphere is great as everyone is super friendly, polite and professional. The food is delicious and well prepared and cooked, especially the fish platter that includes their amazing King prawns. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have some really nice and good Spanish food.

Another lovely meal here, with excellent; friendly service and value for money. We had prawns, chicken, chorizo, all of which was absolutely delicious. Washed down with a jug sangria which was so refreshing! Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely tapas bar within walking distance of wanstead station. Portion size are adequate and there is plenty to chose from the menu. They serve a lovely sangria with cava. Very reasonably priced. Have visited twice this month

He estado aquí una vez antes y disfrutamos de la comida. Esta vez fuimos con la Sra. T. llegamos allí a las 18. 30 (mesa reservada) y por el tiempo que nos fuimos estaba lleno, así demuestra lo popular/bueno es. Tuve pelotas de carne, chorizo en vino tinto (muy agradable) y patatas con mayonesa (no tocaban hasta que lo intentes - es fabuloso). Existe confusión con respecto a la Sra. T principal - pensamos que era pasta con marisco - estaban diciendo que era de mariscos con arroz - porque fue la paella, por supuesto que es el arroz! De todos modos, muy bueno. Una pequeña queja, era empezaron dientes mesa como aún estábamos sentados allí. Venga chicos que toma segundos para limpiar la mesa una vez que alguien sale y entonces es brillante y resplandeciente para el próximo cliente.

El lugar era excelente. probamos unos 9 platos, cada uno era perfecto. Un restaurante español muy bueno en Wanstead, el servicio excepcional, ambiente perfecto, vino de la casa excelente. Incluso el precio que pagamos parecía muy razonable. Tenemos la intención de convertirse en clientes habituales.

Service is efficient and unobtrusive. Food is good both from the printed menu and the specials board. Fish is especially good. from teh tapas menu, try the lamb stuffed courgettes

Excelente restaurante local de tapas españolas. Teníamos una selección de platos de patatas, calamares, espinacas, berenjenas, patatas, queso frito croquetas y luego la paella. Se trata simplemente de un festival de comida congelada, peor que croquetas terrible maltratada bacalao con salsa de dulce de asiáticos - Salsa asiática, realmente? - pan de baguette congelada, la más pequeña porción de relleno berenjenas visto. . . . . Este tipo de restaurante no hace justicia a la española.

Mi pareja y yo fuimos a este restaurante la última noche y nos dieron la bienvenida con un personal muy amable y servicial. La comida salió rápidamente y fue absolutamente delicioso. Teníamos 5 tapas entre los dos, cocinado a la perfección. Los precios son muy razonables y toda la experiencia fue agradable. Sin duda volveremos y recomendaremos a nuestros amigos.

We pre booked a table late Sat afternoon for that evening and they were happy to accommodate us , from the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcomed , I have been here once before , my husband his first time , we both absolutely loved it , we ordered , ribs / lamb cutlets / rice / potatoes etc it was delicious you may think the portions are small but they fill you up and we ordered a few extra plates after which turned up quickly , the desserts were amazing almond pie ( the best ever ) & my husband had apple pie & ice cream delicious , the restaurant was cosy and a lovely vibe , the service was the best I have seen in a restaurant for a long time attentive but not intrusive, we were not rushed and we were not forgotten , what a gem to have in a area we have just moved back to , we will be returning very soon , book in advance as it was packed

Went along with a large group recently and we had a great tasting tapas meal in a nice cosy restaurant.

Mi pareja y yo tenía ganas de probar este restaurante desde que nos mudamos a la zona. Cuando llegamos, nos pareció que el restaurante parecía pintoresco y auténtico, y nuestro pedido fue tomada rápidamente, etc. Sin embargo, pronto la noche fuimos cuesta abajo.

Be here couple times and it's a nice place and has good atmosphere staff mostly friendly and good service food is good for the area and good wine too .... only bad point I have is the tables are to close together so you can hear each other's conversation

Impulse family meal. Good menu. Food well prepared and presented. Not too noisy either which is something I appreciate a good deal.

Perhaps I am being slightly unfair as my partner is Spanish and we travel to Spain alot. The food was edible but I wasn't impressed with the flavours. For me the mark of a good Spanish restaurant is the quality of the croquettes and I was dissapointed at Dama de Elche as they were obviously from a frozen package, which I could have cooked for myself at home. Having said that the atmosphere was great, desert was tasty and the selection of wine was good.

First time here , & would happily return . Group of 5 , we all shared various tapas . The staff helped in suggesting what dishes & how many . Didn't get to try the paella , but the one on the table next to us looked good .very good staff , great service & food . Worth a try .
