Dalchinis in Cardiff

Ordered the Vegetarian set meal for 2 on deliveroo. Just an insane amount of food for the price and the quality is always amazing. This could easily serve 3-4 people, so it’s a bonus for us to have leftovers the next day. This is our go-to for indian food :)

Ordered a takeaway through deliveroo, was a little late but this was due to it being match day. I had a veggie meal (tikka paneer) and my partner had the tandoori meat platter. The whole thing was utterly delicious! Will definitely buy again!

Not good, my vegetarian meal was inedible. My partner had a lamb jalfrezi which he says was "ok" nothing more, just ok. He normally hoovers up any of my leftovers but after just 1 mouthful even he refused any more of my balti kitchuri. Thought I'd give them a chance after they improved their hygiene rating and are "hot food" walking distance but won't be going back.

Just eat order, rang up to ask if we could change a curry from the set menu, more than accommodating. Food was delicious and still perfectly warm when it arrived. Chicken Rogan and Passanda were 10/10. The set menu for 2 was amazing deal lots of food could easily be shared between 3 maybe 4!

wow , the food was lovely fresh authentic tasting . the first time butb im unsure that it was prawns that was in my curry , i eat a lot of all sort of prawns but im not sure it is prawn tbh, its not bad , but i want to know what it is im eating instead of prawns, i not tasted other sea foods so im unsure , but its not prawn.

Their owner behave was extremely rude . They don’t care customer happy or unhappy. Food was average. Lamb sheek couldn’t able to eat. Atleast for their behave I won’t go there and I recommend others not to go cause people are paying money for not getting their misbehave.

Ordered delivery but took so long that I walked to the restaurant myself to collect. The staff were nice but food was cold and overpriced considering poor quality and portion size. Kitchen needs doing up. Looked very run down and untidy.

Stunning meal. Meal for one is amazing value. Friendly and helpful staff. They forgot my poppadoms but they delivered it to me with extra chutney. Couldn't recommend more!! Freebies too.

Staff was polite ,friendly and very helpful the food was top notch couldn’t fault it. I was told to wait about an hour for delivery (on a Saturday night) and it arrived within around 30-40mins

leaving this review as a delivery driver for this restaurant. owner and staff are so incompetent, rude and hypocritical. they make drivers wait 30+ mins for orders but then have an issue if the driver is a few minutes late for pickup. their hygiene is horrific as ive waited and seen them drop lids on dirty greasy floor and still use them 🤢 never accepting orders for this place.

awful takeaway. ordered and waited 2 hours for food to arrive and it was cold. extremely rude service and attitude from owner when i called to question delay. totally ignorant with false promises. stay away.

Watery, poorly flavored curries, very disappointed and won't be going again

Been ordering from here for years and never been disappointed with the food or delivery but the last two orders we haven't received our poppadoms which were ordered despite being assured they will come back with them

This takeaway provides great value for money particularly the 5 course meal for £11. However if you order the wrong curry, particularly the Bhuna, it can be very oily and ruin the meal. However the portion size is seriously impressive.

Our order arrived with one item wrong, I called up to explain and they were so apologetic, sent the correct item round quickly and free of charge (with a few extras), all the food was delicious, could do with a bit more veg in the sauces but very tasty!

The food is generally quite nice, although this time I didn't get to taste it. I ordered the food with an expected wait of 35 to 50 minutes. This was at 19:50, I was then given an expected delivery time of 21:10. I thought well its a Saturday night so will give them the benefit of the doubt. I had to leave for work at 21:30 but was willing to take it with me if need be. I called around 5 times once it had gone half past every five minutes and was told he was 5 minutes away each time. Unfortunately this was not true. I left at 21:39 to be exact. I notified the restaurant that I needed to cancel my order, to which they asked how I ordered. I told them just eat so they told me quite rudely to cancel through them and hung the phone up, no apology not even a good bye. The previous time I ordered from there they forgot a few things which does happen, human error and all that. One thing is for sure I will definitely not be using them again. Such poor customer skills.

I adore the food from Dalchini - I always get the Pasanda and it's great every time and the delivery drivers are always friendly. This is by far my favourite Indian restaurant in Cardiff.

Ordered food and clearly stated we had an allergy. They sent food with mushrooms, when I called they insisted I hadn't notified them and called me a liar when I told them it was on receipt. I've sent images direct and had no response. They ended up hanging up on me and told me 'do what you like, its Saturday we're busy'. Too busy to serve food safely it would seem. The food in general was a poor, watery imitation of indian cuisine. They are dozens of curry houses in the area, here's one to avoid.

Last few times hour and half delivery which you don't mind at weekends but midweek service when quieter appalling and freezing meal.. think I've had my last dalchini which is a shame as used to be the best around

My partner and I usually collect food from here, but last night we had our first delivery and the food was beautiful, as always! Every meal is tasty with big portions full of meat! They forgot our free bottle of pop last night so a bit gutted about that but the friendly service in the shop, and friendly delivery driver made up for that! Our favourite Indian in Cardiff! Last night we had a lovely takeaway. Food was delicious and full of flavour. Every single item we Had was really nice including the rice and popadoms. You can tell how fresh it was. I been coming here for years and honestly food is amazing for the price.

My partner and I regularly now - absolutely beautiful food and brilliant customer service! Last time we ordered set meal for two; my partner loves the vindaloo and I always go for either the lamb bhuna or lamb dupiaza... always full with lots of chunks of yummy meat! Also highly recommend the chicken chat and bombay aloo - super tastey!!! We wont go to any other curry house now... these are the best in Cardiff!!! See you again soon :)

Good value for money, good customer service, food was ok if a tad oily and chicken felt like it may have been leftovers. BIGGEST PROBLEM was the bout diarrhoea and vomiting I was plagued with for days afterwards, causing me to miss several days' work. Wouldn't risk eating there again and frankly the thought of Indian food now leaves me nauseated.

15 March 2019.......just eating at Dalchinis. Fantastic food. Had the lamb mirpuri to start and chicken Jalfreze for main.....incredible food. Friday night now is quiet, warm and inviting. Bring your favourite wine to go with what will be your favourite curry ! ENJOY

The best lamb biryani in the city

The Dalchini restaurant used to be a great place, however last time I ordered from there would be my last. I ordered the lamb passanda and my boyfriend ordered the chicken korma, his meal was fine and tasted great. My lamb passanda tasted off, the curry was pink but this was not unusual for them to be an odd colour so I ate it nevertheless. It did not taste off, but the smell was weird, the next day I had severe food poisoning and was sick for three days, I had some left over in the fridge for the next day as their portions are usually very generous, my mum smelled it and could not believe I had eaten it as it smelled off. I've learnt my lesson, i'll never be going back.

Before moving to Cardiff I used the same Indian restaurant for over 20 years. When I moved here I struggled to find a decent one. This place is great and the food delicious. In addition the delivery is really fast compared to others. Try it yourself you won't be disappointed.

Awful!!! The food arrived over 45 minutes late and the driver actually called me to go and meet him to collect my food! He didn’t even get out of the car to meet me and deliver to my door! He handed it to me out of the car window!!! He then had the cheek to ask me for the money for for the additional bottle of lemonade I’d ordered (the rest of the order was paid for) I had paid for delivery and not received the service I had paid for. Such a shame as the food was actually very good.

SO and I are very pleased with the food from this restaurant and agree that we'll order from here in the future. Our order was the Vegetarian (set) meal for two with a few additions. As a light word of warning, the price of the vegetarian set meal was £2 higher than the price listed online, came with one fewer naans than listed, 2 extra containers of boiled rice, and an extra 2 poppadoms. We're still easily pleased enough to order here again, but if ordering by phone it might be advisable to confirm that you're getting the same items and prices as those listed on Just Eat. Also worth noting is that the gentleman delivering the food was patient and polite while I, after realizing the higher price, scrambled to determine that we had the correct order. The person I spoke with to place the order was also clearly aware of which menu items contained and did not contain gluten (the ones I asked about did not). This makes ordering much easier for anyone with wheat or gluten intolerance. He also clearly indicated that gram flour was used, and I may have detected an air of "using wheat flour where gram flour is traditionally used is silly", to which I agree! Though I'm probably reading too much into a brief phone order. tl;dr - Definitely recommend.

I have ordered twice from the Dalchini and will be doing so many times more in the future. They are the best Indian take-away I can remember having. The quality of the food is exceptional given the price.

Haven't been to Dalchinis in awhile! But have to say they totally redeemed themselves! Not only were they early, no issues with the order and the food was amazing!! Well done guys keep it up!!

I have been in this restaurant for quite a few times. Very cosy and warm place. Staffs are very friendly. Delicious Bangladeshi food for a reasonable price. Highly recommended place for family and friends.

My name is Yousef, I am leaving a review here to say that I had an absolutely outstanding Indian take-away from this place on the 8th October 2017. The portions were a good size. The meat was fantastically cooked; the spices were excellent. The bread just perfect. I am always looking for good Indian take-aways around here but as I don’t have a lot of money I only do it as a special treat. As such I want it to be really good and worth it. Dalchini’s was exceptional value, exemplary quality, and much more pragmatic than other places. They have a very good website for direct orders and they accept card payments over the phone. The food itself was so good that I will be ordering again from them. It’s really hard to explain the standard of the onions, prawns, chicken, and lamb. Sublime. I went for a wide array and every aspect of it was attentively considered. I called them to say I thought it was excellent and asked where I could leave a review, and they said ‘Google please’. And so that’s why I am here writing this. I get a VERY strong impression that these people take serious pride in what they are making and selling. I highly recommend them.

Lo peor para llevar que he tenido! Tomó poco menos de 2 horas para llegar y luego estaba frío cuando se entregó. Se animaron y realmente no parecían importarles y dijeron que la próxima vez harían algo por nosotros, aunque definitivamente no volveremos a pedir allí.

First time ordering from there, ordered the five course meals, I can't believe how much food you get for the price, and the food is amazing, my new favourite Indian!

Ordered this quite late last night, about 11:50 so didn't think the order was going to go through, but alas it did. Turned up about 15mins earlier than expected and driver was friendly. However as soon as the food arrived we knew something fishy was afoot. Our korma was the consistency of custard, our madras sauce was thin and flavourless other than spice, our pathia had none of the advertised 'chunks of onion' etc. The chicken/lamb in each was below average in taste and texture. The garlic naan was tasty as at a normal indian, as was the rice. However the mains were just such a disappointment. Maybe it was just the bottom of the barrel last order of the day because I see the positive reviews and can't imagine they were eating the same food as us. Such a shame.

Disappointed with tonight's food, one and a half soft popadoms arrived with a cold naan bread and a half filled tub of chicken jalfreizi, its like someone had already had a munch of my order.

Ordered the food at 19:17, the food was due at 20:35 and didn't arrive until 20:45. It isn't the 10 minutes which is the problem however, the restaurant nor the driver apologised for the late delivery. Poor show & will not use Dalchini again.
