Dalchinis in Cardiff

The establishment advertised 40m delivery on one site and between 35-50m on another. Having made my order, the delivery still hasn't arrived 2 hours later. They postponed the delivery slots and when I called and advised it's taking too long and if it's going to be any longer I just want a refund, they did nothing to help but did cancel the order for me. Abysmal service, having 0 respect for their customers even though they obviously know how busy they are, to still lie about their delivery times. 2 hours feeling hungry to now have to look around again for another order.

I ordered butter chicken and lamb tikka masala from dalchini restaurant. They both looked like it was cooked in a ketchup and tasted like a sweet desert which was not supposed to be. When I called at the restaurant the guy told me the butter chicken is supposed to be sweet (how can you even open a restaurant without knowing how the food is supposed to taste) and same goes to lamb tikka masala it was way too sweet. And when we asked for a refund he told us to bring the food back, how can he say that, if we could go the restaurant then why would we order online. It was very disappointing and very bad customer service. I would recommend not to order from this restaurant.

I working for delivery. I seen something by my eyes. I seen chef put in finger inside rice for checking hot , after put it microwave for make more hotter and you wanna sell by Deliveroo but I am rider deliveroo I didn’t accept it

Ordered 1 chicken birany and 1 lamb birany, worest in taste, I feel it like friedrice, even fried rice is more better than this, full of oil, and tomato puri was send as gravy, One day when I cook birany I will send you some boxes for the owner , staff and chef

I had a takeaway from Dalchini for the first time the meal was tasty and delivery was quick but I ordered 2 special fried rice and in both of them they had pieces of foil in them I almost swallowed the piece in mine could not eat no more so I threw it away, I also had a vegetable dhansak which was very sweet with the only vegetable in there was potato, won’t be using Dalchini again. 👎

Been ordering off these guys for 10+ years never had any issues the chef personally let's me alter the food and gers it spot on tried other places but nothing compares thanks dalchini ...

Ordered the Vegetarian set meal for 2 on deliveroo. Just an insane amount of food for the price and the quality is always amazing. This could easily serve 3-4 people, so it’s a bonus for us to have leftovers the next day. This is our go-to for indian food :)

Ordered a takeaway through deliveroo, was a little late but this was due to it being match day. I had a veggie meal (tikka paneer) and my partner had the tandoori meat platter. The whole thing was utterly delicious! Will definitely buy again!

Curry was tasteless and had way too much sauce for the amount of meat. The price I payed for what I got was insulting. A ready meal or a curry from a jar would have both tasted better and been considerably cheaper.

Not good, my vegetarian meal was inedible. My partner had a lamb jalfrezi which he says was "ok" nothing more, just ok. He normally hoovers up any of my leftovers but after just 1 mouthful even he refused any more of my balti kitchuri. Thought I'd give them a chance after they improved their hygiene rating and are "hot food" walking distance but won't be going back.

Just eat order, rang up to ask if we could change a curry from the set menu, more than accommodating. Food was delicious and still perfectly warm when it arrived. Chicken Rogan and Passanda were 10/10. The set menu for 2 was amazing deal lots of food could easily be shared between 3 maybe 4!

wow , the food was lovely fresh authentic tasting . the first time butb im unsure that it was prawns that was in my curry , i eat a lot of all sort of prawns but im not sure it is prawn tbh, its not bad , but i want to know what it is im eating instead of prawns, i not tasted other sea foods so im unsure , but its not prawn.

Their owner behave was extremely rude . They don’t care customer happy or unhappy. Food was average. Lamb sheek couldn’t able to eat. Atleast for their behave I won’t go there and I recommend others not to go cause people are paying money for not getting their misbehave.

Ordered delivery but took so long that I walked to the restaurant myself to collect. The staff were nice but food was cold and overpriced considering poor quality and portion size. Kitchen needs doing up. Looked very run down and untidy.

Stunning meal. Meal for one is amazing value. Friendly and helpful staff. They forgot my poppadoms but they delivered it to me with extra chutney. Couldn't recommend more!! Freebies too.

Staff was polite ,friendly and very helpful the food was top notch couldn’t fault it. I was told to wait about an hour for delivery (on a Saturday night) and it arrived within around 30-40mins

We have been having takeaways from Dalchini since they are opened and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal. It’s the best Indian food in Cardiff “ highly recommended “ Thank you keep up the hard work.

leaving this review as a delivery driver for this restaurant. owner and staff are so incompetent, rude and hypocritical. they make drivers wait 30+ mins for orders but then have an issue if the driver is a few minutes late for pickup. their hygiene is horrific as ive waited and seen them drop lids on dirty greasy floor and still use them 🤢 never accepting orders for this place.

awful takeaway. ordered and waited 2 hours for food to arrive and it was cold. extremely rude service and attitude from owner when i called to question delay. totally ignorant with false promises. stay away.

absolutely amazing food coming from a picky eater! amazing service, they called me asking how i wanted my lamb tikka masala cooked! they even threw in a couple of mint sauce cause they're legend.

Watery, poorly flavored curries, very disappointed and won't be going again

This takeaway provides great value for money particularly the 5 course meal for £11. However if you order the wrong curry, particularly the Bhuna, it can be very oily and ruin the meal. However the portion size is seriously impressive.

Been ordering from here for years and never been disappointed with the food or delivery but the last two orders we haven't received our poppadoms which were ordered despite being assured they will come back with them

Our order arrived with one item wrong, I called up to explain and they were so apologetic, sent the correct item round quickly and free of charge (with a few extras), all the food was delicious, could do with a bit more veg in the sauces but very tasty!

The food is generally quite nice, although this time I didn't get to taste it. I ordered the food with an expected wait of 35 to 50 minutes. This was at 19:50, I was then given an expected delivery time of 21:10. I thought well its a Saturday night so will give them the benefit of the doubt. I had to leave for work at 21:30 but was willing to take it with me if need be. I called around 5 times once it had gone half past every five minutes and was told he was 5 minutes away each time. Unfortunately this was not true. I left at 21:39 to be exact. I notified the restaurant that I needed to cancel my order, to which they asked how I ordered. I told them just eat so they told me quite rudely to cancel through them and hung the phone up, no apology not even a good bye. The previous time I ordered from there they forgot a few things which does happen, human error and all that. One thing is for sure I will definitely not be using them again. Such poor customer skills.

I adore the food from Dalchini - I always get the Pasanda and it's great every time and the delivery drivers are always friendly. This is by far my favourite Indian restaurant in Cardiff.

Ordered food and clearly stated we had an allergy. They sent food with mushrooms, when I called they insisted I hadn't notified them and called me a liar when I told them it was on receipt. I've sent images direct and had no response. They ended up hanging up on me and told me 'do what you like, its Saturday we're busy'. Too busy to serve food safely it would seem. The food in general was a poor, watery imitation of indian cuisine. They are dozens of curry houses in the area, here's one to avoid.

They didn’t deliver everything I ordered - I ordered 4 portions of poppadoms, and recieved 5 poppadoms, and 3 pots of sauce, and recieved 1. Disappointing

The lamb Bhuna was absolutely banging. Saag Paneer was lush asf. Don't even get me started on the Butter Chicken, mate. Delicious.

The food was delivered 50 mins late and was all cold and the curry’s were full of oil. When we phoned up he apologised at first and offered us a free meal next time, I asked for a full refund as the food was not edible and I would never eat there again. They told me because I ordered through just eat I have to go through them even though I paid cash. After speaking to just eat, I was told the only way I can get my money back is through the restaurant, so guess I’m going there tomorrow

Absolutely outstanding food but, had to phone and chase when food was about 15 minutes late and had recieved no update. Food arrived in total roughly 25 minutes late.

My partner and I usually collect food from here, but last night we had our first delivery and the food was beautiful, as always! Every meal is tasty with big portions full of meat! They forgot our free bottle of pop last night so a bit gutted about that but the friendly service in the shop, and friendly delivery driver made up for that! Our favourite Indian in Cardiff! Last night we had a lovely takeaway. Food was delicious and full of flavour. Every single item we Had was really nice including the rice and popadoms. You can tell how fresh it was. I been coming here for years and honestly food is amazing for the price.

Brilliant food. The best Indian in Cardiff they always cater their currys well as my girlfriend doesn't like spicy food which is annoying because I love spice but they always make me the red masala curry which is nice and sweet and perfect for both off us. I will definitely be trying a nice spicy curry next mind. Thabks guys

Food was over an hour late. Asked the delivery driver to ring when outside instead of knocking, he didn’t ring. Luckily I was waiting at the door because it had been so long. No mint sauce or salad with starter even though I ordered extra dips and didn’t get those either. Really not great this time dalchini 👎🏽👎🏽

Food was ok......main dish was nice....but it was an hour and 40 mins past the delivery time ...it was cold and had to be microwaved and then they said the driver was stuck in heavy traffic......2 miles delivery.....1 straight road during lockdown.....i smell something......male cow excrement.

I normally love this place but my recent order was awful. First issue it was 30 mins late - wouldnt have been so bad if they had sent an update eta but they didnt. Second issue food was look warm. Third issue - onion bhagees were cremated and inedible - could have used them as canonballs, even cutting through to the middle they were burnt all the way through. Fourth issue - coconut rice was greasy and a bit slimy Fifth issue - ordered a chicken and lamb pasanda and they tasted different to each other (not due to the meats but the sauce) and the lamb one was very spicy and unpleasant - chicken was okay Very disappointed and wont be ordering from here again - which is a shame as they used to have the best food

Food arrive 55 minutes late and did not receive poppadoms with set meal, also left a comment to receive a free bottle of coke and they say I didn't, food was just about warm but it did taste nice.

Food was tasty but wrong. Rang up and was told only one curry could be replaced as the other was correct. I questioned this as I always order the Southern Indian garlic chilli chicken and there was onions in it which has never happened before. Was told it had 'been cooked with onions this time' ate the curry as they refused to replace it and it was 100% wrong. The chicken was not tikka, and it was not very spicy and not garlicy at all. So a totally different curry

1st order from the Dalchini as we are in isolation after just returning home from a Greek listed island. Arrived well before time, no problem it was delicious and plentiful.

Lovely food a little warm nothing a microwave didn't sort out was quite spicy tho, and they forgot my mushroom rice!

Firstly, the delivery driver knocked after I requested they ring instead as it was late so the downstairs flat were angry with me. When I opened the takeaway I realised they had sent me a chicken curry rather than the prawn bhuna I had ordered. Found the curry to be quite greasy and as I had requested prawn I was extremely disappointed.

Dalcini is my favourite Indian by far. The curries are cooked to perfection. My son tried a curry for the 1st time today, he thought it was incredible and actually asked if we could order again tomorrow! 100% would never go anywhere else for a good old curry, rice and naan. Delicious.

The meat was chewy and the flavours on the meat were gross. It was like all different flavours I've never had before and it didn't taste like masala.

I love this place so much, I order here all the time now!

I order from Dalchini at least once a week, and always get the Veggie Bhuna — usually with veggie or garlic naan, and the portion size is always huge and the flavour is spot on. Last time I ordered the bhuna it wasn’t as spicy as I usually like it, but I’d say 9/10 times the food is perfection and when it’s not it’s still pretty dang good! I wish they’d bring back the veggie jalfrezi, though...

My partner and I regularly now - absolutely beautiful food and brilliant customer service! Last time we ordered set meal for two; my partner loves the vindaloo and I always go for either the lamb bhuna or lamb dupiaza... always full with lots of chunks of yummy meat! Also highly recommend the chicken chat and bombay aloo - super tastey!!! We wont go to any other curry house now... these are the best in Cardiff!!! See you again soon :)

Worse curry I have ever tasted. Chicken tikka was a very deep red, not the normal red and no taste and my other curry taste like some kind of soup.
