Have been looking for a restaurant that provides good food for the right price. I have to say I have found d it here. Service was incredible, food was amazing and price was great. Had to take what I couldn't eat home in a pot as was too good to send back to the kitchen. Love the green sauce that comes on the side of the place with the starter.

We came here for my husband’s birthday. We are not from the area but we were staying for the night and I have to say I have never received such amazing service from a restaurant before. The service was 100% spot on. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We wish we lived closer so we could come back!!

Lovely, tasty and flavoursome food alongside excellent service. Couldn't fault them, they were every friendly and smiley. I had the garlic chilli chicken which was full of flavour and the perfect amount of heat for a little nose-run. The dalchini special was also very tasty. Peshwari naan was 👌🏼having had a lot of meh Indians in the past, would definitely recommend to anyone!

Came with my daughter and mum for her birthday. They were fantastic with my daughter so kind and got a delicious cheesecake for mums birthday cake after our meal. The food was exceptional definitely coming back.

We have been coming here for a few years now and the food, staff and atmosphere are amazing, all the staff are so lovely and welcoming, the Manager is so nice too, and our waitress today was Ruby who was so lovely. Thank you for always making our evening even Better. :-)

We were there in the weekend a large group of us with kids ranging from 8 to 6 months. We were asked quite a few times by 4-5 waiters if we were finished with our food. We felt we had to eat quickly. It was already quite rushed on our table with having x4-5 kids with us. This didn’t help at all. We ordered Prosecco and the bottle got taken away before we finished it. We weren’t even asked if we wanted more or if we had finished our bottle. We eventually were told to leave our seats and go and sit by the bar as they had someone else that they needed to sit over there. From the get go we felt we had to rush eating our food. The whole dining experience was not nice. Food was ok. But definitely will not be attending this restaurant again.

This was our first time visiting Dalchini and we were not disappointed. I booked an early table as was visiting with my son (11). I decided to go for the set menu and ordered the chicken tawa, which I had not tried before and was yummy. The set menu, which included a main, rice, starter, side and naan was very good value at £16.99. The waiting staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

I booked a table for five people at Dalchini for Boxing Day. Having bigged the restaurant up to my family by saying it was one of the best Indian restaurants in Hemel... we were sadly disappointed with the food quality. It was bustling and lively, with most of the tables full. Thus the good score for atmosphere. When the food came, we were happy with the starters. However, the curries that we had for the mains were too spicy for the majority of us. When the manager came over 15 minutes after we received the mains to ask how the food was, I did mention that it was much spicier then usual. The manager did ask if we wanted new curries but at this point we had already started eating the food and didn't feel we could eat a new curry. He did mention he was going to see what was happening in the kitchen and get back to us after. He didn't come back to us after that. We also asked for a jug of tap water, but the waiter must have forgotten as we waited 10 minutes before I had to ask another waiter. All in all.. I would eventually go back to this restaurant but I wouldn't be in a rush as there are plenty of other Indian restaurants I've been to where I haven't had these problem.

We were served really old smelly chicken the food was definitely not fresh. Portions are tiny too 3 tiny bits of hard chewy lamb with a plate of onions and peppers again not fresh over cooked and fatty inedible for lamb not chunks like most places serve. Can see this restaurant has gone downhill potions and service have fallen off a cliff it seems, way better places to eat in Hemel. The manager also tried to argue with me saying both my meals can’t be bad only one? Sorry did you taste it we paid in full and quickly left a free drink would never get me back!

Looks like we'll be finding a new fave Indian... Booked for NYE online on 29/12. Turned up on time, couldn't find our booking, some nonsense about their system not updating them turned us away as no room. Not hugely apologetic either. Obviously as NYE everywhere way heaving so missed out on an evening out

RUDE and argumentative manager . I can’t believe the treatment we received at this restaurant. I called the restaurant before we booked to make sure they had a gluten free menu in which we was told yes . We arrived and non of the staff had any idea of the gluten free options so the manager came out , he also had no idea suggesting a dish that was covered in breadcrumbs or one in batter . The manager was rude to us in front of other customers making us feel uncomfortable about asking for the allergen matrix which he clearly had no idea about . The manager made it clear that we would be eating there with no information on the food being served and stated that none of his staff had any allergy / intolerance training and they didn’t need to . The situation with this manager became very hostile to the point customers where commenting saying if I was you I wouldn’t eat here . We left after paying for our drinks . I will be talking to the FSA regarding this situation as false information and ignorance regarding allergies with food handlers can have devastating consequences.

Beware of restaurant if you have any allergies. Called prior to ask if they catered to gluten free, they said yes. When asking about allergens of the starters, firstly I was told I could order anything then pointed out the puri’s as they are breads then he said he would get manager, the manager came over and said I could have the potato cakes but then proceeded to say it has breadcrumbs on it and when I asked for the allergen matrix they didn’t have one. By this point, I lost total confidence so we paid for our drinks and decided to leave. When leaving, we provided feedback to the manager that the kitchen should have an allergen matrix so it’s easy for staff to advise on allergens. He becomes rude, defensive and accusatory which was uncalled for. Such a shame because we had been recommended this restaurant by a regular customer.

Thought we would try his place as usually go to k2 in the area. Poor experience as soon as we walked through the door. A member of staff being rude to one of our guests, we could also hear other tables not getting the correct food they ordered. As for the food, the portion sizes are ridiculously small- a chicken tikka masala main had 3 pieces of chicken in, the rest was soup like sauce. Be aware of the rice portions when ordering- a serving of rice is barely enough for one so don’t make the mistake of ordering my a few for the table to share like we did. Overall flavour of dishes were poor. My advice would be stick to k2. We tried this place given its review score on google but won’t be going back.

A delightful and authentic restaurant in old Hemel high street. The weird fish tank wall thing made me jump when it started up, but otherwise I found the food, service and atmosphere to be really exceptional. Prices were extremely reasonable. Recommended.

Very good Indian meal. Busy on a Sunday night. Decided on a curry and glad we picked this place. Starters, mains and desserts all very good. Went for one of the specials, lamb mince and chicken. Lovely flavours. Service was excellent. Definitely recommend

We popped in on a Sunday evening (one of the banquet nights Sunday-thursday) after being recently recommended this place by a friend and I would confidently say it's the best Indian restaurant in Hemel. Lovely staff, delicious food, great portions and even the sauces on the side of the starter plate were all made in house and full of flavour. Will be coming back very soon. Outstanding.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and has been the best Indian in Hemel Hempstead that we have tried for both the quality of the food and the service. The cold Kingfisher on tap wasn’t bad either.
