Did not take cash so will not bother again. Why don't you take legal tender?? You are excluding a whole section of society and missing out on business.

We came to Heybridge Basin on a whim for a lovely stroll in the sunshine. We parked easily in Daisy Meadow Carpark (please note cash is not accepted). We passed the Daisy Meadow Kiosk on our outward way and decided we would stop on our way back! They advertised doggy specials so I was sold for our Poodle Cross - Loaf. We had a sausage bun, egg bun and some coke colas - definitely hit the spot after a 6 mile walk. Loaf had a sausage cup which I swear had more sausage than my bun for £1.50 bargain! We spotted fresh homemade Victoria sponge and ended up going back up to sneak slice - what diet? Overall excellent service, fab range of food and drink, dog friendly and seating available!

Perfect stop after a kayak trip for a coffee and bacon roll. Friendly welcome and chat with the ladies in the kiosk. Just what’s needed, nothing fancy just a lovely cup of coffee and a crispy bacon roll with brown sauce.

I visit this lovely eating place every week and for the winter they have a boat (VICTORIA) which you can go inside and eat your food out of the cold. The food and drink is very good and not expensive and the bread pudding is the best. The staff are so friendly. VICTORIA will disappear after winter/spring but there is plenty of outside seating with a lovely view of the Navigation.

I have visited on a number of occasions in the past 3 years. Staff have changed recently but they are still polite and chatty. The food and drinks are all very nice and not overpriced. The boat trips are very pleasant...they will also be operating boat trips through the childrens half term holiday and running SPOOKY EVENING BOAT TRIPS ON THE 28th/29th/30th & 31st October 2021. You can book these trips on 01245 226245.

Where have the original staff gone? I used to love coming here. The staff were lovely, the food was delicious but it all seems to have changed. And not for the better. Where are Ian and Jane?? Such a shame to see this lovely little kiosk ruined.

Good cup of tea with a beautiful view. The cakes looked very inviting but it was too early in the day. :(

Having been rudely treated at our usual tearooms in heybridge basin, we went to this little kiosk to Get a coffee, although the other tearooms wouldn't put thier umbrellas up even though it was chucking it down with rain, this place had brolleys albeit a bit small, but it kept a bit of the rain off. Friendly people and a nice coffee as nd bread pudding, made for a pleasant, but slightly soggy afternoon. The owner even got the squeegee out to dry off the seats lol. Thank you for your great customer care

Very friendly staff, a great place to stop and watch the world go by. The local Robin must be over fed as its the fattest Robin i've ever seen.

Since lockdown and the fact that it has been difficult for the proprietors to run canal trips, the kiosk has been enlarged and nice new single sided table seating put in. Although there are other eateries there which are all nice, this one is perfect if you only want a drink and snack. had great blt roll with plenty of bacon and a cup of filter coffee for a very reasonable price. salad rolls and vege options too. right by the car park. - working hard so hope they do well.

My Family and I have used the Kiosk for many years, as most weekends during the warmer months we take a walk from the Basin carpark, along the canal and around the sea wall back to the lock and stop for a well earned coffee or Ice cream

Heybridge Basin is the home of the Essex Waterways food kiosk. Situated next to Diasy Meadow FREE car park but does fill up quickly . On the towpath of the C&BN with benches and sun umbrellas. Great and poplar with walkers, river users, dog owners, fishermen young and older. A few current restrictions in place at the moment. Snacks and hot/cold drinks. Love the smoked bacon rolls. Hours 10am-3/4pm weather permitting (closed Monday currently) Reasonable prices. Friendly staff Ian and Jane being the regular ones. Local information on the navigation and area. Base of the Blackwater Dawn trip boat. But also restricted trips at the moment. Supporting this kiosk helps run the navigation as it part of the non proof charity maintaining the waterways from Heybridge to Chelmsford for everyone to enjoy . So support a local good cause.

I have on many occasions this year been able to sample the food and beverages at this very pleasant little kiosk beside the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation at Heybridge Basin, Near Maldon, Essex. The staff are always pleasant and polite also the prices are very acceptable. I have also been on the boat trips along the navigation which again are always very pleasant even on a not so nice day and the trip prices this year of £5 per adult were very reasonable. I will certainly be visiting again next year when they re-open around Easter Time.

Staff haven't got a clue. Took ages to take order and still got it wrong. I had chicken and my brother had steak pie which he gave up on as pastry was like trying to eat a brick, chips pale as pale can be. Tea and coffee just about OK. Don't waste your money or time.

Looked inviting from the outside so decided to give this establishment a try. Spotless interior , big menu with many tempting options. Our coffee was spot on , just how we like it "proper coffee." Wifey had bacon, brie and cranberry panini which she said was delicious. Myself chicken , bacon and pesto sandwich with granary bread. Thick slices of gorgeous bread with a well packed filling , it was very satisfying. Very good service and highly recommend.

Visited The Queens Head last night with my fiancée to try their new carvery all you can eat roast dinner. The food was outstanding, when they say all you can eat they really mean it, and it includes meat unlike any other I’ve been too. The meat was cooked to perfection, the gammon was the best I’ve had and there was 4 meats to choose from. The chef was previously a butcher and knows how to cook and carve, it was so yummy. There was a good selection of potato’s, yorkies and veg, also all really yummy. The potatoes were crispy outside and fluffy inside and the gravy was a good thickness and also very tasty as it’s made from the meat juices. I was hesitant trying an all you can eat carvery, however this blew other roasts I have tried in Essex out the water. It was as good as an expensive roast that you would find in a bistro pub. My fiancée and I are making our way round local pubs trying their roast dinners and this flew straight to the top of our list! Also - the homemade icecream is outstanding and i’d urge that people try it. It’s really creamy and they have lots of options. Thank you for a lovely dinner!
