Excellent food, excellent atmosphere and lovely staff. Tasty, fresh and delicious, the food is soooooo good. This place is really fun and buzzing. Make a booking because it was extremely busy and the locals would love to keep it a secret! Everything we ordered was 5 star but you cannot miss the steak tataki or smacked cucumbers and the Margaritas were very good. Go. It’s excellent. And they’re good people. Oh and ps they are opening a ‘Speak Easy’ below the restaurant that will be superb.

After a long day at work, I knew all I need was some food and a good drink. The service by Frances and Carina was top tier from the door! Also, the atmosphere they provided and such good vibes all round made the experience 10x worth it. I will be back (for the 3rd time) and now this is officially my spot to unwind! Ay Daddy Bao keep your staff happy, because you got some good ones here

Smaller place than I imagines, wasn't too busy on a rainy Tuesday so service was fast. Enjoyed the food, and would recommend. 3 bao's were enough for me, but I'd had a pint before dinner and a negroni during. One dining companion was disappointed on the availability of desserts, the other didn't say much apart from the music being too loud. I went to the antelope pub afterwards and had 2 pints, another pint in the raynes park tavern and a can of polish lager on the way home. Liver function test this Friday.

Went for a last minute dinner on a Sunday, pleasantly surprised. Setting was tip top - service was quick and to the point, food came out staggered and perfectly. Recommend the beef tataki, I’d definitely come back!!

We had a lovely meal , it was our first time trying Taiwanese food and we thoroughly enjoyed all of it- I would have to say the pulled pork bao bun was my favourite though. The crispy squid , the chicken and the mud crab amazing. Not too keen on the sesame seed ice cream though it wasn’t sweet. Drinks were very nice and served well. There was a lively atmosphere in the restaurant and the service was good. Would definitely return.

Food interesting and portion size good. Limited vegan choices. Felt pushed out off the table early as probably they were trying to squeeze in third sitting before closing. Shame.

A great spot for a light bite or simply order more small dishes while drinking expertly made cocktails. I was satisfied with a starter and two bao's, my much larger boyfriend had four. We then ordered another starter! The cocktails were delicious, especially teh spicy margarita, and were reasonably priced fro London. Don't miss the specials (on the wall). We will be back again and again this is our new favourite spot.

Cannot fault Daddy Bao. The food is amazing and so are the cocktails. But what makes it is definitely the staff. We booked quite last minute and on a Saturday but they were so accommodating and managed to get us in. We were served by Carina who was so attentive and lovely. You can tell she cares about customers and if they are having a good time and happy with their meals. Carina spent time talking to us, recommending dishes and drinks, she was just great and really made our night.

First time at Daddy Bao’s inTooting and holy crap it was good! Everything from the service and food to the drinks was exceptional. Food we ordered: - Roasted aubergine: 5/5. - Crispy cabbage: 5/5. - Fried chicken: 5/5. - Crispy squid: 5/5. - Pork Bao: 5/5. The addition of peanuts in this gave it the edge. - Chicken bao: 4/5. The balance of flavours was a little off hence 4/5 however still a very strong score. - Mushroom bao: 5/5. Possibly the best bao I tried. The balance of textures and flavours was on point!! All the food was extremely tasty, and the value for money was great for the sizes. The drinks were all amazing, we sampled the sake menu and was not disappointed. The barman knew his stuff, his recommendations were great, the apricot and yuzu sake were definitely a favourite. He was also very helpful, friendly and sociable. The staff were incredible from the moment we walked in. Service was impeccable and their recommendations were great. Friendly, helpful, attentive, sociable… what more can you ask for! I really cannot fault this place. Would definitely recommend and I will be returning

My wife and having grown up in Tooting and now in our fifth decade saw this place and she continually wanted to try it. Last week we ventured in over the bank holiday on the way home and had a quick bite. The food was good. At business school they taught us that if you give someone good service they will tell 2 people but if you give them bad service they will tell 10. True to form i told my daughter who is somewhat of a bao bun connesieur and the receptionist at my GP who i found out is also somewhat of an expert. So Today i suggested to my wife for us to revisit said establishment. Sadly the experience was not good. I can only conclude that there is a TYPE of customer that is preferred. Who has put in office this diktat is debatable but diktat there be. I am no shrinking violet and to be fair when i queried this in the venue i was told i should email the owners as they like to hear these sorts of feedback. But the concept of a complaint is it is a problem that needs to be resolved more importantly that can be resolved. My issue is with the service i received, past tense. It has happened it cant unhappen. So being true to form just as i told 2 when i was impressed with the food last week, i am now telling my 10 through the medium of modern day technology via this bad boy. I could be over reacting i may be getting old and just too tired for this nonsence but you decide. Its a simple and relatively minor slight some may say but it was enough to totally ruin my evening and my mood. So we attended the venue no reservation (thats on us) its 6.25 the place is empty. The girl approaches asks if we have a reservation we say no she says hold on and goes to get someone. Another girl comes from the back she tells us they are fully booked but she has one spot they can give us until 8pm. we say ok she tells us it the bench looking out of the window right by the door where we are standing. Literally we are at the door. I queried cant we sit inside she says they have no seats inside at all fully booked. My partner then says can we sit in the corner which is at the other end of the bench we are being told to sit at {there is a couple sitting in the middle of the bench she is saying on the other side of them instead of this side which puts us at the door (incidently where we were sat last week but it was packed then) again she says no that place is reserved the only space she has is the one next to the entrance door. i was going to leave and even said so to my partner but she said lets just eat it will be quick so we sat down literally where we stood. we have not ventured more than two yards into the establishment at this point. We have then had to sit by the door whilst 4 sets of people walk ins like us came into the restaurant and were seated inside the venue. 1st a couple with a pushchair and a little boy. They were told they could have a table until 7.30pm inside the restaurant and were shown in. We queried at this point and asked the new waitress why we were not given that option and she said because they have a small child that is the only table she could offer them (not sure what that means or how it explains anything). Next two young girls who were shown in and given a table at the bar. Next another couple were shown in and given a seating inside. Then a guy came with 4 friends who waited outside by now the place is filling. He was told no space at the inn. A young girl with young boy immediately told no place at the inn. A couple came were seated at the end of our bench the same seating we were denied earlier on. Now when i speak of all these people they are all walk ins. How do i know because i have been seated right next to the door on high up stools and they are all with the waitress standing less than a yard away from me (if you view the pics of the place you will understand . i could touch them by just bringing my hand up to touch my head we are that close) i can hear the whole conversations and see the tablet she is looking at. I think thats what was adding insult to injury the fact this was all being done literally in our faces everytime someone walked in we had to listen to them say walk in and then watch them be seated. We queried this with a gentleman who works there and he said to email the owners and also took the service charge off the bill (although i believe he was in on the diktat and quite possibly the orchestrator. Being a boss of my own company for over 20 years i can identify who is the DM (decision maker)) The funny thing is the food somehow was not so great this time however that may have been because i was distracted and also feeling highly aggrieved the whole time. Now here's the interesting thing to unravel. The two staff who approached us the one who went and called someone as if acting under a diktat and the one who came were of African heritage. Myself and my partner are of African heritage the boyfriend of the girl who was turned away point blank was of African heritage although she herself was of European descent. So my question can this be about my heritage, well no because it was done by someone of similar heritage. Was it just an innocent mistake possibly. The waitress who came and dealt with us did not come back again and the lady who dealt with all the others was of European heritage. However the lady who dealt with us was also called to deal with us the last time we came. So after mulling this whole experience in my head at the time and on the way home we cut the whole experience short and was out of there by 7pm we arrived at 6.25pm. What have i deduced from this experience. 1. Food is never good if the experience is bad. 2. If you wish to employ some discriminatory policies employ and use the people your planning on discriminating against and get them to do it. (i should note the two girls who were seated at the bar were of Asian descent and muslim as they were wearing full muslim garb with headress) 3 Trip advisor doesnt have spell check. 4. I really am now an old grandad even if i am only 50 as i am spending my friday evening writing a negative review on Tripadvisor. That being said thats my experience and shall not be returning again as my hometown tooting has changed so much im spoiled for choice and dont need to have these sorts of experiences in my life if i dont want to. Dont need a reply from Bao and definitely dont want anyone to get in trouble. Just telling you my experience go there and see for yourself. If your the right type nudge nudge wink wink your be fine, and if your not well you know what to do. Enjoy

Came here with my friend. We had a few cocktails which were really nice and the fried chicken to start which was good. I had the chicken bao which was nice but it was the same fried chicken inside as the starter and if I’d of known I’d probably have ordered something different. However both were delicious and we left happy to return :) oh and the staff were really friendly, helpful and quick . Oh I should mention the onion in the photos is an inside joke, they don’t randomly give out onions with faces drawn on.
