I haven't visited Dace for quite a while (probably pre covid) - it was good to see that the same lovely family are still in charge, although I felt ancient when I realised the two 'boys' are now adults! However I just want to mention that the service was great as always, lovely coffee, pot of tea and my mum's scone was excellent. The star of the show was the brownie - I have honestly never tasted better - so a big thank you to Theo, the creator of the Dace brownie which made my day. It really was better than Chris's (and Theo didn't tell me to say that) It was great to rediscover this family run establishment - pop in, you won't be disappointed!

Had a really enjoyable evening on the 'who done-it? wine tasting evening, (23rd/Feb/24) a birthday celebration for my sister. The atmosphere was warm, friendly fun. the wine & cheese was plentiful. Chris & colleagues/friends were attentive, pleasant & keen to ensure every one enjoyed the night. Congratulations on your 10th anniversary

Had a lovely jam and cream scone and Latte. In laws Enjoyed their food too. Service was polite and attentive. Breakfasts looked good too.

We often go to Dace and normally have no complaints. However today we decided to try the pan fried chips and burger which was unfortunately quite disappointing. . The burger bun was particularly poor as it was not good quality bread. I don't think we will be ordering this again.

Food was really nice, served quickly piping hot. Very nice to see something different for vegans and vegetarians. Sadly your staff let you down. I said I was stuck between the vegan and vegetarian option and asked server wot she wud recommend. She shrugged!

Overpriced and hard poached eggs on toast, 1 sausage on a FULL breakfast, fatty bacon and the breakfast is supposed to include tea or coffee but then they charge extra when you ask for a black coffee!

Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious and great value for money, also a lovely atmosphere. I will be back with family and other friends.

Was not greeted with a friendly smile, told it was table service so we sat down. Woman came over sprayed the table and myself, then proceeded to lift table up to retrieve something it smacked me in the leg which was quite painful, no apology she told me I should have waited until table was ready, at this point we left never been before never going again, rude!

Popped before going the cricket,service was prompt and friendly the cooked breakfast hit the spot with a tea included in the price,will definitely go back.

Just visited - waited over 45 minutes for food and watched two tables after us be served first. We asked twice where our food was and the manager came over and basically ‘told us off and spoke to us like naughty children’ - just rude !! After food arrived she then came over and we thought she was coming to apologise - oh no - she then proceeded to tell us if we want our food quicker we should have ordered with coffees when we arrived - but at that point we didn’t have menus as we had just sat down. Her attitude is an absolute disgrace and it took every breath in me not to tell her how rude, ignorant she was. No idea about what good customer service looks like. Surprised the owner tolerates this behaviour ( or maybe she is the owner ) £35 for 2 omelettes and a toastie - rip off !!!!! Won’t be going back !!

Ate here yesterday for lunch . Good prompt service . Nice food . Nice cosy ambiance. Fairly run of the mill menu and average prices but overall good. Downside was smell of fried food permeating the whole cafe.

After being recommended to stay away we had deceived to give it a chance and were not very shocked when the customer service was non existent, the food was very overpriced for what it was and once multiple forgotten items off the order had gone by it was quite embarrassing to ask for what they had missed.

I have eaten here many times nice simple food which is always served quickly! There brownies are a particular favourite of mine!

Fantastic family run tea room that catered for 12 rugby parents visiting St Mary’s College for a rugby fixture. Food was excellent with locally sourced produce and proper sausages!! 12 different orders which was no issue for the chef! Top work and will definitely be back

I have been going her for years. The lady manager has always had a miserable face but her husband Chris has always been so pleasant and cheerful so it didn't bother me. Last year I had a slight issue with the lady during COVID as she insisted we sit on the 2 seater table which was within very close proximity of another table,too close.I was with my vulnerable mother. We left but I let it go The last 6 months I have been going in weekly with my mum,brother and small dog for a lunch costing around 30 pounds per visit. Today we went.Sat in our usual place,the comfy chairs by the door. I asked the waitress if I could close the door which was wide open and my mum was cold. She rudely said I'd rather you didn't and you can move to another table.No explanation. We moved to another table(still feeling the cold)the waitress followed behind us and said I see you've moved to another dirty table( it was one of the few 4 seaters). Then I went and asked the male manager if there was a reason for the door being fully open. He explained it was for ventilation but was nice and said he would close it for my mum.There was only 4 other people in other than us at this point as it was late in the day. My mum said as I was walking back to the table all the staff where glaring over at the table from behind the bar.She felt very uncomfortable. Then the unfriendly lady manager came over and just threw our menus at our table which she later denied. At this point my very small dog was sat on my knee as he often does in there and never been an issue. She said he should be on the floor and not on the furniture which I pointed out he wasn't on the furniture he was sat on my knee until he got his sausage to stop him barking and this has never been an issue before. She went on to say how customers complain and don't even like it being dog friendly. Not my problem really if it's dog friendly. At this point despite placing our order I'd had enough.I went to complain and mentioned all the issues above including the rude waitress saying I see you've chose another dirty table. I was told we should wait to be seated.Never been told this in all the years iv been going and no signs,at least not obvious. Seemed to be going round in circles so I said we were leaving and was told our food was already prepared.I told them we weren't staying and I wasn't paying.We had been treated rudely and it was uncomfortable. Meanwhile my mum said one of the younger waitresses went to table to remove the drinks and she apologized.Obviiously it wasn't her fault but out of all the staff there the one who looked most junior had best customer skills. When we left driving round the local area to find somewhere else to go no other cafe or coffee shop had their door wide open. It's ridiculous.When you pay for lunch out you expect to not have to wear your coat and you expect a friendly approach especially given eating out is a treat and you don't want to be made to feel mortified with such poor attitudes. Sadly after many years of giving this place business it's safe to say I won't be returning again. The owners need to take on board the other reviews of bad attitude because we can't all be imagining it.

I went to Dace today for a take away iced coffee. The girl on the till said there were no iced coffee cups and if I would be ok with the smaller take away coffee cup being used to hold my iced coffee, to which I replied is the coffee the same price even though I won’t be getting the same volume of drink? The rude girl replied ‘YES’ abruptly. I said well why is it the same price if I’m not getting the same amount? She then went on to say she ‘did not charge customers for alternative milk, and I was getting quite a deal’ to which I replied ‘oh fair enough and paid and thanked her for my drink. To which I got no response from the ignorant, rude girl serving. Being polite to one another is common practice yet the girl serving in Dace did not have these basic skills. I felt upset and violated to be over charged for my drink and then not even get a thank you returned from me for my custom. I won’t be returning to Dace and I hope future customers don’t get the same experience that I did. I am a local to Crosby and am all for supporting local businesses, it is disappointing I won’t be able to support Dace as a business anymore.

Despite the restrictions with COVID 19, Dace was incredible. I was notified of Dace’s Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea takeaway platter by a family member and I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that they accommodated both a gluten-free and dairy-free diet for my Grandma. Today (Mother’s Day) I surprised my Grandma with the platter and she loved everything that was included. From the sandwiches to the scones, you could tell that everything was well thought out not only just for any person, but for a person with strict dietary requirements. As well as this, the service couldn’t have been nicer. 100% would recommend going here, I had an amazing experience!

Had a fabulous lunch here on Sunday. We were able to sit outside but all restrictions were in place inside. Stilton mushrooms were amazing! Very reasonable prices and friendly, efficient staff. Highly recommend

Excellent breakfast/brunch very accommodating and friendly staff very busy but worth waiting for a table comfortable couches to sit on while you wait you can either eat there or wait for a table. The owners very friendly and take the time out to chat can adapt the menu to suit nothing to much trouble. Definitely worth a visit seemed to have plenty of regulars which to me speaks for itself. Recommend the fruit teas

I've been told by my 6 year old son this is the best bacon butty hes ever had. My veggie breakfast was cooked to perfection. Fast and efficient service with friendly staff nothing like the hustle and bustle of the city cafes but a nice relaxed breakfast in the suburbs with the family. We will be coming back again to a place that uses local produce from farms to even local coffee. Absolutely loved it

Came here for some food and coffee after visiting the beach with my dog. Lovely atmosphere, pleasant and helpful staff. Food was great, sausages were super tasty! Cant wait to come back! The afternoon tea was also a great value for money!

Visité a Dace ayer alrededor del mediodía con un amigo para almorzar. Ambos pedimos el panecillo Dace con cafés y la comida era muy buena. Pero cuando pedimos, notamos que había alrededor de 4 o 5 perros en el café, lo cual era inusual, por decir lo menos, ya que no hay señales que indiquen que se admiten perros en el café. Luego entró una pareja joven con un perro pequeño mientras comíamos nuestra comida y nos sentamos en la mesa contigua. El perro estaba bullicioso, ladrando y estaba corriendo y saltando sobre los muebles detrás de donde nos sentamos y, en general, era una molestia. El perro luego hizo sus negocios en el medio del piso del café al lado de donde nos sentamos. Puedes imaginar nuestra reacción cuando esto sucedió y no podía creer lo que estaba pasando. Los dueños de los perros limpiaron el desorden y uno de los miembros del personal de danza también ayudó. Después de ver todo esto, rápidamente terminamos nuestra comida y fuimos a liquidar la factura. Después de intentar cobrarnos por el agua embotellada cuando el personal claramente nos sirvió un vaso de agua del grifo, lo que nos exasperó aún más, recurrí al miembro superior del personal en el mostrador y tuve el siguiente intercambio ya que estaba muy descontento con la experiencia que tuvimos. almorzado:Le pregunté: ¿por qué permiten perros aquí? ’El miembro del personal superior respondió: "No tendría ningún cliente si no lo tuviera". Como ambos hemos trabajado en servicios al cliente, ambos acordamos que, como gesto de buena voluntad por nuestra mala experiencia en su cafetería, deberían haber eliminado los cafés de nuestra cuenta, pero queríamos que el personal entendiera que no todos los clientes desean comprar alimentos y bebidas y sentarse entre mascotas y animales, sin conocimiento previo.Es una lástima que los dos somos clientes locales y experimentar que todo el fiasco nos dejó furiosos y ahora no volveremos.

La comida está bien, pero el personal joven es inexperto, grosero e ignorante. Solía ser mejor cuando los dueños estaban realmente presentes en el café, pero ahora parecen dejar que sus hijos lo manejen. Espere sentarse allí durante más de 15 minutos esperando que se tome su pedido antes de que un miembro del personal lo reconozca (esto es cuando el café ni siquiera está ocupado). Mejor evitar, cafés mucho mejores en el área donde el personal realmente tiene algún tipo de idea de servicio al cliente.

Nice pleasant atmosphere, drinks were all well made. Dog friendly as per most local cafes. Yes was hard to hear but shows it is popular with locals which a good thing. Friendly, prompt service at all times. Unfortunately was extremely disappointed by state of restroom- have to say not only local establishment to have a problem with standards in this regard. Please improve -dirty walls, doors, tiles hanging off, cobwebs etc and hand washing area not up to scratch. Happy to try again when this area has improved, hope owners take on board in a competitive local cafe scene as I for one wouldn’t recommend a cafe unless I’m happy with hygiene in all seen areas as like most people if they aren’t clean we wonder about kitchen standards.

We have visited this cafe several times since having a new puppy. Food has always been good - hot, tasty and good value. We also like the fact that they have newspapers. I really recommend the scones with clotted cream- delicious.

En nuestra segunda visita a Dace, tuvimos un excelente brunch el domingo. El personal era amable y acogedor, y encontramos una amplia selección de opciones de desayuno para elegir.

Visité con 2 niños pequeños el desayuno después de una recomendación. Toda la experiencia fue asombrosa y el personal, donde las excelentes versiones proporcionaron pequeñas versiones de lo que los niños también imaginaron cuando pidieron un chocolate caliente, tuvo el increíble sentido de hacerlo más fresco para los niños, a diferencia de otros lugares que hemos visitado (edades 2 y 4). Y el servicio rápido definitivamente visitará de nuevo. Desayuno encantador

Solía venir aquí hace años con mi madre y mi niño pequeño. Me mudé por un tiempo pero ahora vivo a la vuelta de la esquina y comencé a venir aquí nuevamente con mi pareja. Me alegra que el interior no haya cambiado mucho desde que se llamaba Plumley's, ya que me resulta pintoresco y acogedor. La comida es buena, nada demasiado complicada, simplemente buena comida de confort. Nos encantan nuestras visitas.

Visited Dace because one of our favourite tea rooms/cafe was shut. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Feel like the place was a bit dull. The lady behind the counter wasn’t very friendly, and she had long red false nails on. I’m not sure that would comply with their 5*hygiene? Also she seemed to be using a manky cloth on the tables and on the chalk boards.

Ahora bien, yo no soy un gran fan de pan en general, pero no podía resistirse a probar el pollo decker triple dace blt y no me decepcionó. En primer lugar es enorme y la segunda es buena mmmmmm mmmmm Un salón pequeño y pintoresco, con sillas y mesas o sofás. Este es uno de los mejores de pollo BLT'S que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Hojas de té de menta también suelto que no huelen a menta sabía como menta. No como la mayoría de tés aromatizados que son olor y no el sabor. El personal es realmente simpático. Altamente recomendado. Pruébalo, no te decepcionará.

Este parece ser un lugar frecuentado por los locales de damas mayores. Hicimos una comida para llevar, que claramente no estamos acostumbrados, temprano en la tarde. "tostados" (caliente-sándwiches pulsado) eran deliciosas (gambas y coronación de pollo), pero las ensaladas de acompañamiento eran Comparaciã³n. La música muy alta de fondo parece ser enteramente para el beneficio de la camarera, que parece ser la mitad de sordos.

Great stopover for lunch after a stroll along the beach in Crosby. Friendly staff. Food was tasty and filling. The only suggestion that I could make would be to lower the mirror in the loo, as I couldn't check my makeup!!!

Came in for some Saturday morning breakfast, sat at the only table available that was dirty, after waiting ten minutes for it to be cleaned we asked politely to be told rudely they were very busy so we would have to wait. Waited another ten minutes then chose to leave. To be clear the reason why we left was the staff members attitude. We appreciated they were busy however would expect to be spoken to in a less rude tone. I don’t think it’s too much to ask to have a clean table to read the menu at.

Fabulous ambience (sorry) could have sat here all day, drinking their excellent coffee. And the Breakfast Stack was astonishing. I would praise it more but I don't want people taking my window seat

Siempre tengo 2 huevos escalfados sobre una tostada marrón con aguacate, ya que es tan bueno. Los aguacates son siempre perfectas, y los huevos están muy ordenadas y rinorrea. Junto con un buen café con leche, ¿qué más se puede pedir para un buen desayuno almuerzo?

Lots of places to choose from on College Rd but Dace is the one we gravitate to as the food we feel is the best available.

En la mañana fui Dace nochebuena para un tocino barm y café. Pedí a los segundos de sentado. Ambas cosas nos sirven extraordinariamente rápido y estamos justo lo que quería: calentamiento y sabroso. Hay un montón de competencia en College Road, pero para la comida sencilla y rápida, servicio amable recomiendo Dace.

Only been at weekends. It us scruffy (no clean tables), dark and as friendly and welcoming as Royston Vaisey. Tried a few times as like to give benefit ... No change whatsoever. It is horrid and only marginly beats the dog smell of the cafe further down but loses out on lack of welcome, drab decor, 4 hour min. to clear a table and complete ineptitude when making gunpowder tea. Cheap if cheap "cream" and jam with scone. Given them lots of chances. No more from me.

We left Crosby 14 yrs ago and returned regularly to visit elderly family. We often looked for a cafe for lunch or a cup of coffee. Whilst visiting after the death of the last member of elderly family we finally found this perfect Cafe for a light lunch. service was quick food was excellent. lovely fresh thick bread sandwiches and best coffee I've had for a long time. when on the area again we know where to go without hesitation. just sorry we did not find it earlier.

Well after being sat for 15 minutes with no service I had to go to ask for 2 drinks. 15 minutes later somebody asked us what we wanted to order. Even though we had been to the till to order. If you can’t cope with capacity, reduce it!! Shocking service.

Just popped in for a coffee while my car was being looked at in a local garage. Lovely inside and outside decor! Really inviting.

Popped here for a quick coffee and snack, upon entering we found a number of the tables hadn't been cleared and those which had been cleared still had crumbs on them. We found a very comfy seat which was clean and ordered. Food and drink came out hot and of excellent quality.

I'm often in here having breakfast, nothing is to much and the chefs will always do their best to accommodate. Coffee is consistently good, along with friendly service. Chris's baking skills are world famous in Crosby - and so is his Gin.

Chris, el chef es maravilloso y prepara un desayuno encantador. El café también es muy sabroso. Mi novio y yo asistimos tarde dace hace un par de semanas para tomar un café antes de trabajar. Al entrar en llevé a mi bolso y esperó pacientemente por la señora detrás del mostrador para terminar su conversación privada, (ella no sirve), con otro cliente.

Estado aquí un par de veces para almuerzo, y ambas veces ha sido buena, nos hizo disfrutar. No hay ambiente de las hormigas. Good place to eat, great food, we used to go religiously every weekend with the kids and spend a small fortune each time, but in the summer they have the door open and they allow smokers to sit directly outside the door (for example one older guy who wears a hat and smokes a pipe is always there smoking away) and the fumes blow in while we are eating, unfortunately we now walk past it to another local cafe,we have moaned a few times to the girls there but it still happens, which is such as shame as the food is fab!

I love the cooked brekkies at DACE. Always gorgeous and the sausages are damn tasty!. Well done from a big brekky fan. Even waiting for a table is fine as its a lovely atmosphere and the window seats are great for wifi

Este café necesita una reforma de su aire acondicionado. Los olores en el café eran del tipo de boliche. Que puede ser bueno si yo estaba desayunando, pero a media tarde cuando todos mis amigos y yo queríamos era café y pastel, arruinó el ambiente del lugar. Obviamente, algunas personas no se importó ya que estaba ocupado, pero la gente parecía estar metida en la zona y los espacios entre las mesas era inadecuado.

Dace, si llegas a leer esto, como un cliente habitual me encanta su comida, pero su interior es muy mala. Puedes poner tanto esfuerzo en el entorno como hacer tu comida por favor - creo que necesita un nuevo look!

Hemos estado yendo de aquí para el desayuno y el almuerzo en los últimos años. Nunca he criticado la comida, y el personal siempre es amable y acogedor. La decoración es de buen gusto y siempre me lleva atrás en el tiempo. Un lugar relajante para comer o reunirse para ponerse al día con los amigos.

This is a great place for brekkie and lunch. Food is quality and plentiful. I love the sausage butty for brekkie

If it's a full English breakfast your after, this is head and shoulders better than anywhere in Crosby. Quality sausages and bacon. Actual thick toast, they don't just call it thick and comes out thin!! £8.70 including a hot drink but well worth it

All the food is freshly prepared and is of an excellent quality. The breakfasts are particularly good. The owners have developed a very well deserved reputation for first class service and they make their customers feel extremely welcome.

Encontramos nuestro camino aquí gracias a mi teléfono móvil mientras buscábamos un sitio para tomar café y un bollo. Teníamos un asiento encantador en la ventana, que la camarera limpiaban antes nos sentamos. Al final decidimos tomar sándwiches de desayuno que eran excelentemente preparado especialmente para nuestros requisitos específicos. Menaje para preparar té y café y la comida llegó rápidamente poco después, trajo por el chef. Soy bastante quisquilloso con café, pero lo usan asado/bean es bastante deliciosa.

Every time we go there the breakfasts are lovely - good quality bacon and really nice herby sausages! Nice coffee Good range of herbal tea too! Well worth the price

Fuimos un grupo de 4 para unos tragos, tuvimos chocolate caliente, café y té de naranja, una sangre su selección de tés es impresionante casi demasiadas!

Estaba visitando a unos amigos en la zona y "Dace" fue recomendado como un lugar estupendo local para conseguir recién preparada comida casera de estilo.

Nunca había estado aquí antes, pero lo que es una joya escondida. La comida es absolutamente deliciosa y la tostada se sirve cómo me gusta, muy gruesas.

Been here for breakfast lots of times I'm the one who makes up her own breakfast but it's never too much trouble and I appreciate you being accommodating to my dietary requirements! Best bacon around and regular gin & wine tasting nights this place is great and such lovely staff too! Don't miss out!
