Da Sandro in Kirklees

We went to celebrate my granddaughter’s 12th birthday. The restaurant was full to capacity and this impacted on the service. We had to ask to place our order after sitting with our drinks for 20 minutes. The food took ages to arrive but was the same high quality we are used to at Da Sandro’s. We had to ask to order desserts and these arrived without cutlery. The coffee my son ordered never arrived and we gave up on it in the end. Nobody seemed remotely interested in asking if we wanted a bill so we just got up. The waitress had a look of panic on her face and seemed to be updating the bill as we walked across the restaurant. We had to explain to the cashier where we had been sitting so we could leave. The staff were friendly but clearly inexperienced and over-whelmed with the task at hand. This was very disappointing after so many good experiences in the past.

We have gone to this restaurant for over 30 years and loved every single celebration we have had there so we were a little apprehensive this time as the wonderful business had changed hands. No need to worry, although we rewlly miss the old amazing staff who were there so much, we were served by a fabulous lady called Francesca! She was totally amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. She kept checking everything was ok. We got an extremely efficient service. The atmosphere was vibrant, as always and the service was brilliant. The food was, as always, just absolutely perfect except for the skin on fries - pls can we go back to normal fries. They just are not the same! The Tiramasu had changed and I have to say it was the best I have ever had! Totally devine. Compliments to the Chefs for the gorgeous, tasty, hot food and compliments to all the staff and special thankyou to Francesca for making our experience so perfect! We will back soon. Its still the best Italian Restaurant in Yorkshire!

Returning visit We visited Sunday late afternoon for early dinner . We weren't disappointed lovely afternoon with delicious food. Fresh pasta and pizza Cheesy garlic bread yum The staff were all wonderful from initial greeting at the door to bar staff . Fab becoming a fav so will be back again. Thankyou

We've been here several times, mostly for evening dinner but we have popped in a couple of times for lunch. It is a very popular place, so it is recommended to book if you plan to go in the evening (particularly Fridays and weekends). The staff are always super polite and friendly, I have a GI and they have an extensive NG menu with homemade pasta which tastes amazing. Finding a true Italian restaurant where I can pretty much enjoy all the same dishes as my husband is a nice change. My husband loves the Lobster Bique starter! They have a fresh dessert section too if you manage to have room after!

I recently visited Da Sandro with my husband on Tuesday and overall had a very pleasant evening. We were seated in the back section which we were glad for due to the front being extremely busy and loud. We were really well taken care of by the brunette waitress. She was very quick with our drink order and very thorough with our food order (checking if we wanted any sides as my Veal and my husband’s Steak didn’t come with any). Unfortunately we were waiting about 20 minutes for our starter and over half an hour for our main, However as I previously mentioned the restaurant was extremely busy. Despite this our waitress was very attentive with us and other customers going out of her way to chase up our food without us even having to ask. Once the food did arrive it was absolutely delicious. Even though we were full we found room for dessert after and shared the Cannoli that our waitress recommended (it was so delicious I felt like I’d been transported to Italy). Overall it was a lovely evening and the friendly, smiley service would definitely make us return!

Delicious food, our party had steak, chicken, pizza, pasta between us, beautifully presented delicious, tasty food, very friendly service, great atmosphere, lovely restaurant. Would definitely return and recommend.

Currently fails to live up to its past quality and reputation. We have been visiting this restaurant for over 30 years, and have always enjoyed it immensley. Recently it seems to have changed, the staff are not as good as they used to be, almost all the old regulars are gone, now they less attentive and seemed rather haressed. The Menu has become REALLY repetitve with hardly any new dishes, even on the 'Specials' Menu which can and should, be updated regularly by the chefs. No scallops at all and the fish dishes are mediocre to say the least. Pizza also seem smaller, flatter and not as good as precviously, has their pizza oven been changed I wonder? Or the pizza chef??? We wont be visitng very often now as there are other places which are better with much more variety and choice. A great shame! Atmosphere is still buzzing though so thats a plus.

Da Sandros has always been one of our favourite restaurants, we would return weekly. However, after our last visit we won’t be in a rush to return! The service has changed massively, the new waitresses/waiters are all miserable and unwelcoming. We have never had a problem with the staff before, until the change of staff. The food is poor compared to the usual quality, alongside a long wait for food. The atmosphere is not like it used to be, we found it really noisy. We will not be returning, which is such a shame as this was our favourite family restaurant.

I had three lovely meals here whilst visiting family and stayed at Briar Court. Da Sandro's remains at the top of its game, offering fabulous food at affordable prices. Great atmosphere, was busy as usual, which is always a good sign. I've been eating here since they first opened and it still never fails to deliver. There were a lot of new staff as well as a new manager. The manager was extremely attentive to diners and the staff were very courteous and well trained.

We have just have a fabulous dinner at Da Sandro's for my Mum in Law's birthday. This is the first time I have eaten here and the first time me partner's family have been in many years. Fabio treated us like royalty and made sure we wanted for absolutely nothing during the course of our visit. The food was excellent, freshly prepared and delicious, particularly the pizzas! Staff were attentive but not so much that it became irritating. We have felt thoroughly looked after and really happy with the incredible service, food and drink. This is a beautiful restaurant and the staff are a credit to the establishment. Well done!

Visited here with family on Sunday for a last minute birthday celebration! We have been dining here for years and it never disappoints. Absolutely beautiful meal this evening. My husband and I have been Vegan for a month and a little apprehensive of eating out. Lots of vegan choices and amazing flavours. The service was excellent! We were truly looked after.

This was probably the best meal we have had over many years. The food, which we chose from the specials menu as a New Year's Eve treat, was delicious. The service was the usual high standard with lots of banter going on around us. The ambience here is always a delight

We are here fairly regularly and both the service and food never fail to be outstanding. Our recent family meal was excellent as usual … we selected from both the ‘specials’ and the standard menus. We have a few standards that we love but frequently select from the specials … the family keep telling me that I need to change from the tagliatelle boscaiola … but it is just so nice! Our granddaughter had the sea bass from the specials and loved it. Overall, another amazing meal.

Some friends and I ordered the Christmas menu. Well I can honestly say never before have I had breakfast marmalade served with pate! I'm guessing they were out of red onion marmalade and popped across to the petrol station and that's all they could get. I've been coming to this restaurant for many many years and it's always as popular as it was 20 years ago but that doesn't mean you can take your eye off the ball. 6 out of 7 of us were served the breakfast marmalade with pate.

The meal for the 4 of us was great - eventually. Our meals arrived and 3 were fabulous, as expected. Mine on the other hand was not. The pasta dish was somewhat lacking in the main ingredients, which I had to look for under the pasta. On mentioning the lack of broccoli and salmon (4 small pieces) the waitress told me I could order a side of broccoli. I had to point out to her that the menu stated with salmon and tenderstem broccoli. When the manager came to ask if all was ok he took my meal and returned it with a considerable amount more of the two main ingredients which I appreciated. However the point is, why was my meal lacking in those main ingredients in the first instance???

I went here with friends last Friday evening and certainly wouldn’t go again. The food was ok, although one of my friends had a gluten free pasta dish, which she said was the worst she’d ever had at a restaurant! I shared a bottle of wine with another of my friends - we chose a Valpolicella at £30 (near the top of the wine list). When the bill came, the wine was listed at £38 so we queried it. We were told that that was the price for the one we had! I had pointed to the £30 wine on the wine list when I ordered it, but we hadn’t realised they had brought us a Valpolicella that was lower down on the wine list and more expensive! We were told it was our fault for not checking the label!! We found the staff to be generally quite dismissive but the manager was argumentative and downright rude, insisting it was completely our fault! I know it’s only £8 but it’s the principle.

The best Italian restaurant in Huddersfield been going for years. I never been disappointed until recently prices. Keep going up here after year and starters are now nearly just as much as the mains.
