Smallish restaurant with a real homey Italian vibes. Very good fresh quality food and generous portions. This is one of the places I’ll keep going back to for a decent meal if I’m around Oxford street

But where do Italians who say it's excellent and is a real Italian restaurant eat? For me it's 3 stars only because it's in London. If we consider the true level of Italian restaurants it would be a 2. Excellent service. Italian dishes are revisited and made worse.

It's a lovely place for a lunch or dinner. We tried lasagne, pasta and risotto. All of them were great. Service is amazing. Thank you for this lovely night! 4 people with 4 main + 3 starters + 1 dessert + 1 bottle of wine was around 180£

Simply not fresh, the potatoes wer reheated, same with the dessert.

I came with a friend. It was a little chilly so we sat inside. I had braesola for starter. It was a huge portion, almost a meal in itself. I followed this with chicken escalope with spaghetti and then the chef made zabaglione for 2 of us. With a bottle of wine the meal came to about £67 each including service. The quality of the food is excellent, the service attentive and the surroundings are very pleasant. The only problem is that the restaurant is very cramped and if you sit in the aisle your chair will be bashed whenever someone walks passed which is annoying.

A Fitzrovia classic Italian restaurant that maintains high standards that keep people coming back

We stumbled across this restaurant our last night in London and we’re so happy we did! It’s authentic Italian….you will not be disappointed! The food, wine and service were absolutely superb.

Who doesn’t like comfort food !! imagine a grandma cooks something, all excited, the food is always (delicious), everyone enjoys finishing their plates, and never a disappointment… it was never about extraordinary or impressing others,, it’s just comfort food that so good to get addicted to it 😋 The portion of a dish is enough for two to share !! i can’t say more 👋🏻 I tried multiple dishes from the menu, all were good enough to get back and order them again… I have been ignoring all Italian restaurants in London since I got connected with Da Paolo for 2 years already..

Loved this place and we have been regulars in there. But our last visit was something else. We have been always touched by the special service and the food is indeed amazing. Shame the owner seems to have no good manners at all. We have been having our usual table outside and we have been always ‘allowed’ to smoke e-cigarettes but this time we got a dry NO and when I asked why it is not allowed anymore, the owner just said ‘Because I said so’. Terrible attitude! Even though there were people around us with their vapes out. Same diners as us. We had to leave because to be honest i was shocked by the answer and couldn’t see myself enjoying it anymore. Such a shame we won’t be coming back there, and I would def not recommend it to any of my friends. When you are coming to dine, you are also looking for the whole experience and politeness is probably the minimum I would even ask for.

The food is very good but, logically, it is not cheap, for an Italian, about 35 pounds per person without asking for much. They speak Spanish. The pasta and desserts are delicious. I recommend Linguini, spaghetti, lasagna and tiramisu. They have tables outside because it is in a pedestrian zone.

Amazing food in a great atmosphere. We had mushrooms to begin then Italian sausage risotto. Both were delicious but be prepared for the portion size. Excellent friendly service.

My family and I came here on the last night of our trip yesterday. The staff greeted us with such lovely kind smiles, welcoming attitude and took care of us. This restaurant is indeed what it is described as- authentic Italian. The food was the star of the show and was certainly the best Italian food we have ever had. I would recommend this lovely family business as it is just simply perfect. I loved the atmosphere and everything else that came with it. Thank you for having us and when we come back to visit London we shall come back!

This is possibly my favourite restaurant in London. It has everything you want from a great Italian restaurant - authentic recipes, fresh ingredients, good wine, all lovingly presented in a romantic setting. The servers are very friendly and greet my wife and I when we arrive as we've been coming here now for many years. Da Paolo is usually our go-to for birthdays and anniversaries, and I've recommended it to so many people that they're probably sick of me mentioning it. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Small typical Italian restaurant, large portions, very friendly service

Cosy but cramped Italian restaurant. Food traditional and plentiful. For example, a side order of a 'tomato and onion salad' could easily feed four diners. Service from a young manager and an Honduran waitress excellent and informal. But restaurant should remove a couple of tables. Currently, they are only a few inches apart, so that stranger next to u feels a part of your table. In an unattractive passageway, competing for outside space with other outlets infront and to the side. Still, would return, if I was in the area.

This restaurant had the feel of a neighborhood eatery - comfortable, casual, friendly. And the food was delicious. We were lucky enough to strike up a conversation with a "local" and learned that our experience that night was the norm. Always welcoming!

Cosy restaurant with excellent service - provided by an attentive, young manager and an Honduran waitress. Tables very closely packed together, and traditional food served in generous portions. Not really in an attractive position...on a narrow passageway - sandwich bar-type place opposite or to the side with its own chairs and tables competing for space; all arranged too closely together. Would return if in the area.

An excellent reliable and always fun place. Great trattoria and no fluke that it has been here for so long.

This was hands down one of the 3 top Italian Meals I have had anywhere in the world. And to find it in London England around the corner form our Hotel in SoHo is In a word amazing. We were running a few minutes late and I called up Mario who was so kind and out he dour reservations for this intimate family styled restaurant. When we arrived it was if we were old fiends with the entire staff going out of their way ti greet and help us. We ordered three course that we split tarting with caprese salad that was good but a sleeper compared to the tastes that were to follow. The real excitement was in the second and third courses, the Hand made ravioli with a cream Truffle sauce was breathtaking it literally permeated the taste buds with the taste of the Truffles. Generous portions and amazing district flavor made this a winner. We followed this up with a Veal Saltimbocca which was so intensely flavored it was unbelievable. I Woudl not have thought such flavor could come from his dish, but as I sit here today I’m wishing we lived in London so we could visit this fine restaurant regularly. To say this is highly recommended is an understatement. If you truly love Italian food are in London make a point of getting a reservation at this restaurant you will not be disappointed and like us will likely wish you had come earlier.

Great little Italian restaurant in Fitzrovia. Perfect for a date with good food, nice atmosphere, and friendly but unobtrusive service. Small, so can get a bit crowded, but a go-to spot.

Staff are good and atmosphere good. Food was okay but too pricey for what it is. The wine by glass runs at 9£ which is insane because it tastes sour. I would go again for atmosphere but I wouldn’t order wine. It’s not worth it for that insane price and terrible taste

Came to this place due to the amazing reviews and had such a horrible service experience, I came alone and was given such trouble for a table. I was initially told nothing was available when in fact there were plenty of tables, I honestly thought they were joking with me at first and after asking for an explanation they seated me out of pity, wish I left because it was very unsettling to feel so unwelcomed. Regardless of good food or you do not treat people as such therefore I do not recommend this place!

One of the best meals we had on our trip to London. Highly recommend the Ravioli all’Aragosta (my wife's favorite).

Da Paolo's is always a joy. Romantic location, fine food, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. A must-try if you are new to central London, and just want to eat well, in lovely surroundings.

The food was delicious, but while we were chatting there was a thief who pretended to beg, put a piece of paper on the table, and then took away the phone underneath the paper. The clerk was very busy at the time and didn't notice.

So glad we booked, as it is obviously very popular. Never felt too overcrowded. As a coeliac they were very accommodating. I opted for the seafood risotto. Wonderfull 😍😍

I’ll start with the food, cold and late.. We asked the staff to take it back to warm it up and they forgot about it until we reminded them. That leads me onto the staff who just seemed to have no clue what they were doing. All our food arrived at different times some of us had finished our food before others even got their food. Absolutely woeful. Monday 27th 8pm. As you can see the starters are still on the table after finishing our main.

Ham and melon was not good at all , pinky Parma ham full of fat and hard to eat , chicken Milanese was just ok , a bit soggy and small ,we waited quite a lot for the food too, maybe we were not lucky with what we ordered. Inside is very noisy

Big portions, great traditional Italian

Cozy Italian traditional restaurant in the heart of Fitzrovia. Big portions and tasty pasta options. Although I was very happy overall, it did not remind me of the pasta dishes I ate in Italy. Friendly staff who were happy to help throughout the night. I don't eat spicy food and they were happy to not add chillies to my dish. Tiramisu had too much whipped cream on top. It's a quite small place and it was a bit hard to move around the restaurant. We booked in advance. Prices: We were a group of 4 and it cost around £45 per person for selection of Italian breads (they weren't very fresh which was a bit disappointing), four pasta mains, a bottle of white wine and two portions of tiramisu that we shared between us.

The food is very tasty and the portions are large. Prices are in line with the London average. Everything is a bit tight at the top. The staff is friendly and attentive.

What a great little restaurant of the tourists track. Arguably some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. We had the Burrata & vegetables for a starter which was a brilliant dish. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was full bodied without being overwhelming. Service was excellent and on point. Great restaurant for a night out but book in advance, the place is popular. THE TRAVELING HAT

Chance upon this wonderful restaurant while searching for dining choices in the vicinity, and it proved to be a delightful discovery. The restaurant exudes a cozy, intimate ambiance reminiscent of a quaint Italian trattoria. The service was exceptional, delivered with promptness and warmth. And as for the food, it surpassed all expectations. Each dish was impeccably executed, and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. We will definitely be back and recommend this to others.

All the 5 star reviews are very well deserved. The staff were very genuine, friendly and attentive. Service was excellent, food was even better. Prices may seem high but for the quality and quantity you get, it's very much worth it. Portion sizes were generous and we left very satisfied. Every dish was amazing from the starters to the main to the dessert. Would highly recommend and look forward to coming here again.

A treasure of a find. We dined here pre- theatre and were not disappointed. Lovely, helpful staff. Great menu choices. Fresh, well cooked food (and generous portions - we couldn't fit in a dessert...). We did not feel rushed and food arrived in a timely manner. I will book here again.

It's really special how good this restaurant is. Not too expensive, good food, and you are treated very well (your coat was even accepted!).

A cosy, comfortable restaurant with excellent food, service and ambience.

This place is built on a foundation of lies and ill intent. The malice which radiates from this place fills me with sorrow. (...They lied about room inside and tried to split some of our group across tables of 2 etc, then claimed they told us this) I haven't ate here so can't comment on the food.

We came for my girlfriends birthday, and had the most incredible food we’ve ever eaten. portions were perfect, food was absolutely mindblowingly flavourful, and the staff were so attentive. Special thanks to Mario and the rest of the team who made the evening that much more special.

One of the best experiences we had in all Europe, I’ve been in Italy and France also eating in Italian restaurants and in my experience this one was one of my best ( if not the best) experience all around. Excellent food, drinks service, they had it all, 100% recommended.

Unfortunately one of my family members was not feeling well, so we had to leave early, but everyone was very helpful and caring with the situation. Having tested hundreds of Italian restaurants everywhere, I think this one will remain my favorite. Special mention for the lasagna which is the best I have ever tasted. Only one thing to say: go for it!

I ate at this place tonight and honestly it was amazing. The food is purely Italian, it's delicious, their desserts too. I have never had a tiramisu as good as today. The place is warm and the service is perfect, what can I say other than that I will return there without hesitation. 😁

Ristorante accogliente, servizio pronto e preciso, apprezzato anche dai londinesi, a giudicare dagli avventori che vi abbiamo trovato a cena. Il titolare è persona estremamente affabile, così come disponibile è il personale. Ottima cucina italiana, dalla bruschetta al dessert (pastiera docet!). Assolutamente da provare se si transita per Londra.

Have been eating here for approximately 12 years; never had a bad meal here, it's always been delicious. Have brought many friends, family and colleagues who have all enjoyed. Most recently, we've brought our 10 month old daughter who also loved the specially-made butter pasta with cheese! Exceptional service every time from Carlos and the team, even moreso with the little one in tow.

We've eaten here a number of times & came for dinner yesterday evening before a gig. As usual it was uber busy despite it being early evening, we sat upstairs and as before they were very accommodating of my dietary requirements. Although prices have gone up a little since our last visit, I had the tuna & my partner the mushroom gnocchi, the portion sizes are huge - bigger than I remember them being. Both dishes were delicious & perfectly cooked. We were so full it meant unfortunately skipping desert! If you want unpretentious, generous, proper Italian food without the poncey element, this is the place to come. Will definitely return soon

Was my boyfriends + I first time visiting this Italian restaurant, I would highly recommend this place the food was so delicious, the staff were so welcoming with good customer service. We will definitely be visiting again.

Shame they choose to discriminate against solo diners. Called to book a table and was told because I was dining alone, I could only book at 5pm or 8.30pm, although on-line they had availability between those hours. Dined here many times before, but I’ll go elsewhere in future

We chose to meet with friends here for a late lunch The restaurant is narrow and it can be a bit of a squeeze The menu at first was alarming as the dishes seemed pretty expensive, however when the food was served we apprecaited that the quantity and quality justified the price The waiting staff were patient and good humoured as we took for ever to choose drinks and food. We had lovely olives and bread whislt we deliberated Two people went for teh vegetable soup which they really liked, two went for the mushroom crosttini, again excellent and I had the grilled sardinnes, very nice and so much of them I was not sure I could eat anything more Two people went for the salmon arrosto, one had the polo Milanese, a taglatelle ragu and I had the linguine rosse gamberoni. All the dishes were enormous and very tasty There is a set meal that is very good value, which one of our friends went for The ice creams were excellent We had a bottle of pinot grigio, soft drinks and coffees and the total cost was surprisingly modest What a wonderful find

We were staying in the Fitzrovia area of London and found this Italian Restaurant by chance through the Maps App and a link to the website. The online booking showed nothing available until 21:30 - a bit late for us - but on phoning our booking for 20:00 was accepted so there’s a lesson learned. From the outside we loved the traditional look of this small Italian and inside the tables were close together reminding us of our time in Rome. There was a lovely welcome from the Italian signorina who was in charge of front of house. The place was busy and buzzing. There is an excellent wine list that included a choice of both white and red by the half bottle which we see as a big plus. Our drinks were delivered promptly. There is a blackboard with specials that add to a very adequate and varied menu that is as shown on the website. The sardines (4) to start were fresh, perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. They came on a nicely dressed salad and the portion was of a size that we ended up sharing. The mains of the Veal Milanese and the liver were equally substantial and despite our good appetites we could not finish. The cooking and the flavour was first class. It’s the generosity of portion that has resulted in us marking Da Paulo down a notch. Reduce the liver portion from 3 slices to 2 and make the veal escalope 2/3 of the size (the accompanying spaghetti was spot on) and that would be a perfectly balanced dish at the price. We didn’t have room for sweet which was such a pity as the sweet menu looked great.

The restaurant is very beautiful with a very delightful atmosphere. The attention of all the waitresses was excellent and very attentive. Now the food, the food was AMAZING! The flavors, textures, ingridients, etc. everything was so delicious! We had the Antipasto Misto della Casa, Ravioli all' Aragosta, Pollo Milanese, Risotto Salsiccia al Barolo and Spaghetti alla Carbonara and to finish we had desserts, which were also delicious, coffee and tea.

Very traditional Italian made. I had carbonara without cream. I could not say words! It was a big portion. Normally, I wouldn’t be able to finish it but the food was indeed very tasty and incredibly delicious. The burrata dish for starter was also amazing. Very friendly staff and best service. You might think this restaurant is expensive for spaghetti, but give it a try and you will not regret!

The portions were generous and the atmosphere was nice, but the spacing between tables was so narrow that it was uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was great. I will definitely come back again.

Tiny restaurant with great food!

Our third visit to this little gem in Fitzrovia. Splendid food, decent prices and service second to none. Such welcoming hosts. We could not have had a better experience.

The restaurant is quirky and original, food was excellent and portions huge. Lasagne was delicious, and all the seafood dishes had ample fishy bits. Nice, unobtrusive service and very reasonably priced.

Highly recommended, food great, service great, ambience great. Definitely again next time. (Be sure to reserve). Thank you for the lovely evening.
