Just got home from the most amazing meal I've had in a long time. The food was amazing everything was so flavourful and tasty. Would definitely recommend the fried vegetable mini ball starter hands down best vegetable dish ever 😂. The grilled meats are seasoned so well personally the poleko chicken it is still delicious. The gurka bread is such a nice refreshing bread to go with the grilled meats. When I first mentioned that I had booked there to someone they told me it was hands down the best restaurant on South road and now I'm going to have to agree. 10/10 would recommend 100% will be returning

2022: It was our first time going here and we didn't know what to expect, but honestly it's was mouthwateringly delicious. It seems Nepalese food likes to use mint a lot, which I very much love. It's similar to Indian food in a way, if I had to choose what it was closest too, but it's way nicer. The spice levels do range but each dish tells you whether it's mild, medium or hot and you can ask for it to not be spicy if you prefer. The price was actually well worth it, it wasn't expensive, for how fancy the restaurant and the food presentation was I expected it to be more, but actually it's not. The starters ranged between about £3-£8 depending what you got and whether you had the meat/fish starters. Mains on average were between £10-£15 and sides, such as the ghurka potatoes, bread and rice, which we had, were around £3. And on top of that you get free poppadoms and dips, amazing! The service was excellent and the servers were kind, caring and very prompt. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants, we'll be going back there soon for sure. Also to explain my pictures; one is of the side dishes, the ghurka bread, the ghurka potatoes, the ghurka rice, the last two both came with their own bowl of curry like dip. Another is my main, the lamb and chicken grill, it comes with what tastes like sweet pickled beetroot, carrot and cabbage in the middle. The last one is a picture of our starters, Nepalese dumplings (called momo) on the long black plater, they come with a curry sauce on top. Poleko chicken, which was so tasty I wish I had it as a main. Then finally tarkari or tarkeri, I'm not sure how to spell it but they were divine (also on our plates in the photo). They sort of tasted like a mix between an onion bhaji and a pakora but so much nicer and with veggies in the middle. I definitely recommend them but they are a little bit spicy, but in a nice way. Update 2023: We went back a year later and it's still just as amazing, the food was exceptional and as last time, the staff were so accommodating and friendly. Definitely would recommend trying here if you haven't! For the extra pictures; the orange sauce in the bowl with cream swirled in it was called lamb nauni gedi, I believe. It had lamb chunks which fell apart so easily and the sauce/curry was delicious. The next one kebab and chicken on the grill, with it's sauce. Then Gurkha bread. Then Rambache chicken, which is a starter. It was hot, but not too hot, and tasted to me like satay chicken minus the peanuts. It was gorgeous. The four crispy balls on the slate is called Tarkari Ghiu, something we got last time. They're mixed veg with spices in balls. And lastly, the picture of Poleko chicken on a black hot plate. Another repeat from last time.

Family has been coming here for years. Always good.

4 of us ate here. Excellent Nepalese food. Fresh and well flavoured. Good size meals and breads and rice were great. Service was good. Quiet and clean including the toilets. Good value.

Absolutely amazing little jewel hidden away. Massive range of meals in varying degrees of spiciness, even if you see something you like but you think it might be too spicy, these guys will reign that in for you and make it milder if that's what you want. The food itself is always piping hot and clearly freshly made, and there is flavour in everything, not just the sauce, every individual morsel. Staff are warm and friendly from the second you walk in to the second you leave. Very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. One thing I would suggest is to try something new on every visit, because I can guarantee you'll be returning, just make a note of what you had last time.

This is an absolute gem, this has amazing food you will not be disappointed. We had a shared starter which was outstanding. Then service is exceptional nothing is too much. Food excellent presentation with exemplary flavours. This was my first visit, I will be going back .. soon for this amazing food. Plus an excellent New Zealand Sav

Went last night and the six of us had a great time. It’s a few years since my last visit, but the service and the food are still excellent. It won’t be as long until our next visit! Highly recommended.

Booked a meal for me and my mum this evening. On arrival, greeted by the owners and seated promptly. A lovely, friendly run restaurant. We were handed both the drinks and food menus and given time look through them. We never felt rushed. The service was 5 star and the food was out of this world !! Beautiful. Great atmosphere, lovely people and the best food around. I have visited both restaurants and have to say that this is by far the better one. We will be returning and I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

Fabulous food, really well cooked and served. Just the right portion, lamb was so gorgeous. Our friend is vegetarian her complete meal was superb. Spotless restaurant, will return.

Went at suggestion of friends who are regulars. Ramche chicken starter was good but girlfriends prawn sekuwa only had two prawns and had no flavour. I had Chicken something Khursani for main which was described as chefs hottest dish and when the owner asked how hot I said I can cope with Vindaloo. I expected a hot curry but got a huge portion of chicken and salad with an identical sweet chilli/bbq glaze as my starter. I suggested to waitress that chef had made a mistake and the owner did offer a new main free but I declined. Girlfriend said her Chicken Dorpatton was tasty though the sauce was so beefy it seemed to have been made with Bovril. The bread was ok but the Gurka potatoes were supposed to be sauteed but they weren't crisp and had no spicing at all. Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was reasonably priced at £15.50 and the aircon was very welcome. I guess the food is tastier than other places on South Road but the Nepalese food at Da Mount Gurka is infinitely better.

Me and the mrs have been coming to this little diamond of a restaurant for years now and I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal or bad experience. Easily our favourite place to eat, an easy atmosphere and top notch service from Netra and his family make this the 'go to' place whenever we want to show of to our friends and family! Would recommend to anyone that enjoys great food and brilliant service, always with a smile. P.S Try the Lentils, they're amazing!

We love it here! Eaten many times and it’s consistently fantastic. Great food and great service. The staff are super friendly and you can tell that they’re genuinely nice, kind people. My husband and I are both vegan and they have a separate vegan menu and are clear and helpful explaining what we can/can’t eat. The flavours are so good and the options are fun and different. We’ve eaten here with family and friends who aren’t vegan and they also highly rate it. Great if you’re needing a place for a big group with diverse food needs too. We took my 86 year old nan once who only likes simple food, and they catered chicken and chips for her and she loved it- which is rare for her! Honestly an asset to Crosby that we’re lucky to have.

This is the first time when I write a review as soon as I am out of the door from a restaurant. The experience of having Nepalese food for the first time left me amazed; from the lovely customer service to the delicious dishes. Every single plate was filled with flavour and I have to highly recommend the fish and lamb. Amazingly tender, seasoned and just perfect. ☀️ We’ll be back for sure, it’s on our favourite list. 🫶🏻 I don’t have pictures as we were to taken in by the food, but I can recommend these: Momo, fish bhutwa, jauli chew rice..

This is such a wonderful place to eat with friends or family. I have been there many times but never written a review. I do feel it deserves a special mention. Last weekend a large group of us visited early evening. They were not phased at all by a group of 14. Every single meal was delicious (and arrived at the same time!). None of us were disappointed. Netra and his wife (owners) are just lovely. They are helpful to those who have not been before and just get it right in terms of their warmth, friendliness and professionalism. I even ordered something that wasn't on the menu and they didn't bat an eyelid. The food is outstandingly good. I would strongly recommend it , and the sightly less spicey, but very flavoursome, style of Nepalese curry (hotter are available here!) suits wide range of people. There's something for everyone, even for the one person in the group who 'doesn't like curries.' It's easy to get to - near a bus stop and Waterloo train station - or there's parking nearby. Great value for money. I'd highly recommend Da Gurkha Fine Dining and can't wait to go back.

This restaurant certainly did not disappoint. We were warmly greeted on arrival and made to feel very welcome. There is an impressive range of menu items available, including vegetarian and vegan options. Service was good and the quality of the food was excellent. Despite living over 200 miles away, I hope I get chance to visit Da Gurkha again soon!

My wife and I visited Da Gurkha Fine Dining, situated on South Road, Waterloo, Liverpool on Friday 28th July. What an excellent restaurant. The Nepalese food we received was extremely tasty, well presented and exceptionally good value for money. We both had a starter and a main course from quite an extensive menu and there were some dishes we had not seen before but the staff explained them clearly to us. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful - always smiling and they could not do enough for us. It was obvious. also, that some of the other diners in the restaurant were regulars - and this always says a lot about a restaurant. Should we visit this area of Liverpool again we shall certainly be visiting the Da Gurkha again. Definitely a restaurant we would highly recommend.

Nate, Krishna and family were incredibly hospitable. We had never tasted food from Nepal before so Nate asked our preferences then put a menu together for us. It was a perfect meal. The popadom with homemade with homemade toppings were so fresh and delicious. The momos were divine, the chicken starter with sizzling veg was delicious. The Lamb and fresh bread - decadent! The service was fantastic and the atmosphere lovely. This Family run business is a gem! Very good value for money. We will definitely return when we visit again.

This is an amazing place. Small, lively boutique atmosphere. It's friendly and the service attentive. Netra and his wife get it just right. They will recommend food if you don't know what to order, depending on how 'kicky' you like it. It is our favourite, 'go-to' destination for family meals and evenings out with friends, and we feel equally comfortable having a meal for two or a meal for 12, as we did last week. Never written about it before but the food is just so amazing. It's hard to make a recommendation as simply everything is special and beautifully presented. It really is no exaggeration. Vegetarian options are really tasty too. Easy to get to by train or bus if you are not local and want to have a drink.

Best place to eat in Waterloo / Crosby area and beyond without doubt. Excellent service and fantastic Nepalese food - and excellent value too. Can't recommend highly enough.

Amazing food, service and value for money.

Booked for tonight, 12 of the family all ages from 70 to 14. We were greeted by a really nice guy called Netra and his lovely wife. All seated straight away and ordered our drinks with ease, no problem, no rush. Netra asked if we were ready to order. We all ordered various meals from the authentic menu. All the meals were cooked to perfection and everyone a fantastic meal. I would highly recommend Da Gurkha fine Dining, We have been going to there for years now and have never been disappointed.

Honestly the best South Asian food I've had in a restaurant....I grew up with Indian culture, lived in India and ate in restaurants there....this restaurant was easily on par with authentic Indian cooking.....if not a lot better. Great location near Crosby beach as well

An excellent restaurant...run by a family which was obviously from Nepal and the host was from the gurkha regiment (retired). Extremely welcoming and a fantastic meal. I would certainly recommend here for an evening meal.

Lovely friendly greeting at the door by the Captain (owner) seated at our table then 2 x complimentary papadams with 4 delicious dips came out. Mint and honey, beetroot and lime, a fresh salsa and blow your socks off chilli dip. Such a beautiful touch as these days you do not getting anything complimentary. Had Chicken for main and it was delicious with a thick curry sauce, lamb was delicious that my friend had with cashews, cream and honey. Gurka bread and 2 shared Gurka rice. All 6 of us so enjoyed our starters and mains. The owner is such a happy and jovial man and a good entertainer. The staff are lovely and they gel well as a team. Hugs goodbye and would highly recommend this beautiful restaurant and incredibly delicious 😋 food. 5 stars 🌟 Gurka from the Aussie and family who dined on Friday night. Great place to eat , lovely food

I visited lately after hearing very good things for years and they did not disappoint ! The lady who served us (I’m presuming is the owner) was lovely and so attentive. The food came quickly and was delicious! I was a bit apprehensive as I only eat fish but there was a great selection to choose from and definitely was something for everyone! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because for the amount of curry you get compared to the price you pay wasn’t what I was expecting. That said, I would definitely come back because it was so worth it! Food was piping hot and delicious. See you soon ☺️

Absolutely delicious food and impeccable service! Netra who is the owner and on front of house is a delight! We called in on a whim last night, it was empty other than another couple then as we sat down 3 other diners came in who has drove from Brighten and who he remembered from god knows when. Remembering your customers is hugely important and nice to see. The flavours in the dishes were mouth watering, authentic and so fresh. Great portion sizes and even better pricing. We will most certainly be back and cannot wait to try the other dishes on the menu. Highly recommend!

This place is a little gem in Liverpool. From the cozy and warm environment, to the service that is absolutely outstanding. The food is delicious, well presented and absolutely satisfying! We came back twice. We are lucky that this restaurant is close to our home, but it is definitely worth a trip. Ask advice to the waiter regarding the food, they will be able to guide you through Nepalese cuisine. Well deserved 5 stars.

Always a big, warm welcome and a salute to my partner by the manager. Food is a very high standard in presentation, taste and portion size. If you like Thai or Indian food you will probably love this. Cosy and comfortable too. We'll be back.

We had a busy day playing golf at Hesketh and arriving for dinner in Waterloo, most places closing at 9 , but Da Gurkha stayed open for us, fabulous food , great service and value for money . Absolutely ,would go back anytime

Lovely little restaurant with outstanding food. Doesn't look much from the outside, but looks are definitely deceiving in this case. Food was quick, service was with a smile and reasonably priced. Never had Nepalese before and wasn't sure what to expect. If I had to explain it to someone, I'd say it's like clean Indian cuisine. Just like Thai is a clean Chinese cuisine. All lovely in their own way. I hope that makes sense.
