Ordered lobster ravioli and literally an hour later I have an upset stomach. Feel really really sick I’m just preying the lobster wasn’t contaminated, or gone bad it’s literally making me feel ill thinking about it!

Since the sad demise of Uno's on Newland Ave this is THE place to come for carbonara and bruschetta in Hull...and their Trentina grappa is an absolute must as a digestive with your post meal Caffè. Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The measure of a well run restaurant is its ability to cope with the swell of numbers at peak periods, the ability to maintain service and quality with no noticeable delays. This wonderful restaurant consistently delivers incredible well portioned authentic food, friendly attentive service, great wines and a super atmosphere even at peak times and large parties. Lots of places for early/late drinks nearby. A firm favourite and highly recommended.

I Ordered a take away & it definitely didn’t arrive like it suggested on the menu. All the sauce was curdled & full of oil. I ordered medallion beef. It was all hard pieces delivered. It went into the bin. Very disappointed. Not worth £25! .

We started the evening as the only customers in the restaurant on a Friday night celebrating finishing medical school. Just after we had ordered a large group around 40 people came in and were seated completely surrounding us, they were a very loud boisterous group reaching levels where we couldn't hear each other speak. The food was amazing however when we raised that we didn't feel it was appropriate to be booked in with such a large group and had we known we would have booked a different night. We were met with an incredibly hostile and volatile response where we were told there was space for us so why did it matter. The waiter loomed over the table thrusting a card machine in a group members face while ignoring any form of complaint. As we left the waiter was clearly mocking us with other staff. I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant experience and despite the food and other service I shall never return here based solely upon this waiter. He was mid 20s in a blue shirt with blonde hair - if you eat here I hope you are not served by him.

Justo después de haber ordenado a un grupo grande, unas 40 personas entraron y se sentaron completamente a nuestro alrededor, eran un grupo bullicioso muy ruidoso que llegaba a niveles donde no podíamos escucharnos hablar. La comida era increíble, sin embargo, cuando planteamos que no sentimos que era apropiado para ser reservado en con un grupo tan grande y si hubiéramos sabido que habríamos reservado una noche diferente. Nos encontramos con una respuesta increíblemente hostil y volátil donde nos dijeron que había espacio para nosotros, así que ¿por qué importaba? El camarero se asomó sobre la mesa empujando una máquina de cartas en una cara de los miembros del grupo mientras ignoraba cualquier forma de queja. Al salir el camarero claramente se burlaba de nosotros con otro personal. Nunca he estado tan decepcionado con una experiencia de restaurante y a pesar de la comida y otro servicio nunca volveré aquí basado únicamente en este camarero. Él medía 20 s en una camisa azul con el pelo rubio - si usted come aquí espero que no le sirve por él.

La comida era increíble, pero el servicio y el ambiente en el restaurante esta noche tiene la peor experiencia. Éramos la única mesa en el restaurante que no formaba parte de un grupo más grande de unas 30 personas. Era el ambiente más ruidoso y nos sentíamos tan incómodos que no podíamos escucharnos hablar. Éramos un grupo de chicas celebrando terminar nuestros exámenes de maestría y estábamos muy ansiosos por esta comida. El servicio fue bueno hasta que el camarero fue muy grosero con nosotros cuando mencionamos que estábamos decepcionados con nuestra experiencia, y también nos culpó por reservar en una noche ocupada. También empujó una máquina de tarjetas en nuestra cara de amigos mientras tratábamos de explicar cómo sentimos que había sido nuestra experiencia. Le explicamos que nos hubiera gustado si nos hubieran llamado para explicar que habría habido una gran fiesta, y nos habría encantado reservar nuestra comida para otra noche. El camarero también estaba hablando de nosotros con otro miembro del personal delante de nosotros antes de irnos, que nos pareció muy poco profesional. Muy decepcionante en general, y posiblemente una de las peores experiencias en restaurantes que he tenido.

Lovely food, but very loud! Tables are a little cramped, but you can’t expect anything else from such a popular place.

No puedo recomendar este restaurante lo suficiente. Servicio, excelente, comida, maravilloso, relación calidad-precio - Excelente. Volveré con más amigos y parientes sin duda. Muy contento de haber encontrado este lugar ganador.

Bang average but pricey , sleepers is far better and half the price for most things on menu

I booked to celebrate my engagement with my fiancée. The chap on the phone was really helpful in arranging the booking and making it extra special. I’d asked if I could have Prosecco and a Rose on the table upon arrival. He said that they don’t normally do flowers but they will sort something out. When I arrived they had a lovely rose on the table wrapped up in baby’s breath, along with the Prosecco. We arrived at 6:30 so it was fairly quiet with some nice background music on, which really set the mood. The food was amazing for all three courses and all of the staff were really lovely attentive and genuine. A final nice touch was that they didn’t charge anything for the lovely flowers at the end too. I cannot recommend this place enough and we will be returning - thanks again for making our engagement celebration extra special!

Best Restaurant down Princes Ave Louis the Chef and Staff are Warm and friendly and the Food is out of this World

Visited for the first time to celebrate a birthday, we where greeted with a friendly smile and shown to our seats . Drinks were ordered and came quickly.ordered food and that came out after around 20 minutes . We all enjoyed our meals. I do find the restaurant slightly pricey but over all Service was good , food was nice

Gluten Free Takeaway Pizzas! Very hard to find good GF takeaway pizza in hull, not sure why I hadn't come across these before. You always take a bit of hit with a GF base but this was pretty good and the GF Pasta was really nice too. Was great to have a GF pizza with some top quality Italian toppings. Really enjoyed this, will be back.

We decided to go out for a meal at the last minute tonight. My usual problem is that I couldn't make up my mind what to have because there are 4 or 5 old favourites that I really love, but I really wanted to have something new. I didn't have a dessert instead I had the Vin Santo which was really good.

Really disappointing as Italian is my favourite food yet everything was off with this place. The carbonara is vile and I’m not been rude, Rick hard panchetta, not fresh, too flavoursome too, over powering flavour. The staff let this place down, the waitresses kept bringing things and walking away before we had chance to ask for anything, this happened 3 times. They even ignored me when I said excuse me, which annoyed me. Looked like they were also talking about us from the bar. Not very professional atall. My eyes were stinging from the fumes in the kitchen and we had a window table. All in all not happy for the price of the menu and the poor customer service. I received better service at McDonald’s yesterday then here. If you’re looking for a dining experience avoid this place.

It's a small restaurant, but it serves very nice food and has a good atmosphere. Not the cheapest place, but if it's worth it, I don't mind paying. I would recommend anyone to give Da Gianni's restaurant a try.

Delicious Pollo Zingaro, will definitely be back again soon

My son in law decided to treat us to a takeaway as daughter had gone out with friends. Omg this has to be the worst meal I have had in a long time. I ordered Pollo Zingaro the description was chicken breast fillets marinated in garlic, chill, ginger, lime white wine and spices !?! It sounds as if it should be bursting with flavour instead I got a piece of bland cold chicken with cold soggy potatoes with mascarpone cheese floating in the corner. The only thing that had any taste was the side salad. I wasn’t going to say anything with my son in law treating us but he put his knife and fork down and said his tasted like a chicken breast that had Heinz tomato soup poured over it. We were both really disappointed but as he loves his desserts I told him to enjoy his chocolate fudge cake with some Ben & Jerrys ice cream with it. He was again disappointed as he said the cake was totally dry. We will not be ordering again.

Six of us ate here last night. waiting for our main was excruciating we had been sat there and hour and three quarters and only had our starter. I asked the owner and he said they were busy and he wasn't really bothered. They were busy but that was doing takeaways we obviously came second best.my son wanted us to leave . We could have gone home and ordered it online and got it quicker. Also all our eyes were stinging with the fumes and the toilet needs some TLC as there's only one. Also nothing to do with the restaurant but a ignorant family letting their child loose on a scooter. We will not be going there again safe to say

Came here for our team Christmas meal and it was fantastic. Food was great, the team were on hand to help when you needed them and they were friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be going back!

Another great evening a group of ten, excellent service great food, this may be one of Hulls hidden gems , slightly off the beaten track but worth a visit.

Honestly, if I could put 10 out 5 I would. The best meal I’ve had in a long time. The service from Scott was impeccable. The wine, the food, honestly I cannot rate this place high enough. 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

Lovely staff and extensive menu but sadly the food was very disappointing. Pollo alla crema was gloopy and the sauce tasted as if it was from a jar (not insinuating that it was- just stating what it tasted like!) The chicken was also rubbery and sinewy and the potatoes greasy. Mare pizza was average and strangely the shells were left on the seafood which was odd. Limited dessert menu although coffee was nice and it came with a little almond biscuit which was a lovely touch. The restaurant is obviously very popular and was busy (and noisy) so perhaps we were just unlucky. Restaurant was rather shabby and the toilets were grubby.

Lovely place, tasty food and helpful staff. What else need I say? A small family gathering was booked at short notice (a Saturday evening so the restaurant was quite busy). Everyone enjoyed the food and company. I had calzone followed by a huge portion of tiramisu and thought both were very good. I didn't pay but the menu prices seemed quite reasonable. My only (really small) gripe is the place was a bit too warm, but I suppose that comes with the low ceilings and heavy duty ovens in the semi open kitchen. We'd definitely go back.

Every time we order a takeaway the containers are stacked and the bottom one is always so squashed the sauce is all over the bag instead of in the food

Food was delicious, ive been to a few Italians lately and this one was definitely top for taste. Yes the decor is plane and dated but its the food you go for.

We called in for lunch on a Sunday and found the place peaceful - just as we like it. No screaming kids or loud music. We were served by a very pleasant young lady who was generally attentive but spent much time engrossed in whatever was on her laptop computer. We did not find the ante pasta attractive so gave it a miss. The main course menu was excellent but the dessert menu rather limited. The quality of the food was excellent in every way and we did not wait long for it to arrive. My only criticism would be the prices which were a little over the top for what we received. Two mains, two desserts and two bottles of water were over £50 - an expensive lunch. We felt that there are other restaurants in the city that offer the same quality of food but less expensive.

I ordered lasagne from di Gianni and I was shocked to see what was delivered to me. This was obviously not made today or even this week. I couldn’t bring myself to eat it. I am really disappointed. 12 quid flushed down the drain.

Possibly the best restaurant I have been too. The food is delicious. It’s now even my local order takeaway or am having a night in. Best food ever!

Visiting friends in Hull who booked a table at this Italian restaurant on a Thursday evening at 8:30. No one else in which is always concerning. Pate starters came with breadsticks in packs, not the “thinly sliced home baked toasted bread” on the menu. Two pasta dishes and two pizzas were ok. A bottle of house rose at £24 was not overly expensive. So-so service and no atmosphere.

The food is always excellent here - really traditional, good quality Italian food. The staff are always super friendly too. Would highly recommend the white chocolate profiteroles for dessert!

My long standing favourite Italian restaurant in Hull. It has always been a great menu, great food, and great service/staff. The gluten free pizzas here are 10/10. Chain restaurant GF pizzas don't come anywhere near. The chocolate fudge cake is also a personal favourite on the dessert menu, and also GF!

I’m gluten intolerant and the menu was clearly labelled. The garlic breads can be moved to a GF alternative. So I had the pesto and tomato garlic bread to start - which was the size of pizza and neither me nor my family could not tell that it was GF. By far the best gluten free pizza base I’ve ever had and a 10/10 overall. For main they had many different GF mains and you could get either a GF pizza base or GF penne pasta. I had GF bolognaise which was nice but not as special as what the pizza would’ve been. Although a GF base and pasta was at an extra of £2.50!!!! For the pizza and garlic bread base it was 100% worth it.

Excellent food!! Big range of choices, We ordered pizza, personally in my opinion the best pizza I’ve had ever had in Hull!! Great staff, my partner also ordered a cocktail, he’s says it was very good and strong !! Definitely worth it, just better to book your table before coming in !!

Was taken here on Mother's Day. Food was superb and service excellent. It needs a makeover inside as it had little atmosphere. But I'd still go again.

I booked a table for 15 for my leaving meal and the guys were just amazing! They always promptly replied to my messages, service on the day and food were amazing, everyone loved the food and had a superb time. Portions were huge and it was so reasonably priced ! Thank you so much!

Although the food was authentically Italian, the place itself was cramped and in need of a spruce up. Also the ventilation was terrible, with an overhanging haze from the kitchen

For vegetarians and pescatarians excellent food choice. Service very good very helpful waiter Was empty when we arrived but felt very welcome. But meant atmosphere a little lacking. Am sure it improves as more customers come. There is plenty to choose from on the menu for vegetarians and pescatarians. Home delivery is an option but make sure you do enjoy their food

Came here last week with my wife for date night, and what can I say the food was far to salty and overcooked when brought to the waitresses attention she just said the food was meant to be like that and that was it. Unfortunately...

Great food very reasonably priced. Personal taste would like a bit more garlic in the garlic butter. Temperature was abit warm in the restaurant though. Staff really friendly and lovely experience, will be back again.

Went in as were out for a meal but the original place wasnt suitable so we thought just to have a simple meal, but honestly we were really pleasently surprised as the food was great. Chances are this just might be the best italian meal in the area. Hats down to the chef. Service was good too.

Went yesterday with my parents. Had the calamari, king prawn and white bait for starter. Solid 8.5/10. For main I had the beef medallions, not a huge fan of the wedges but regardless 8/10. Very satisfied and the people were nice. 2 sweets with the bill was the cherry on top

The BEST italian in Hull. A small quaint restaurant buried in the heart of Princes Avenue. Whether you are dining in, collection or delivery, the food quality is the same. Always delicious and tasty. The prices are adequate for the size and quality of the portions and with inflation i can understand why they have risen slightly. I don't mind paying the extra, the whole experience at Da Gianni's is worth it. The staff are wonderful and friendly, including the Manager and Chef's (you can see them while they are cooking and they take a moment to speak with you). It is a real friendly family unit with great atmosphere. They you feel valued and get to know you personally. Very authentic as this is what it is like in Italy. Friends evening out, 11 people out, prompt service good food, staff attentive, food arrived good onetime with good portions and quality.

We hadn’t been since well before lockdown and it felt good just being in a busy restaurant. The front door was open throughout and staff sanitised tables thoroughly between diners. Authentic thin pizzas. Salad very English - they need to source riper tomatoes and tastier...
