Great selection of games, but sadly food has gone downhill a bit. Definitely worth a visit for the games and a drink :)

One of my favourite places to visit with friends. Staff are so friendly , the food is great and there’s so many games to choose from. We did a D&D night having never played before and everyone was so welcoming and friendly and super helpful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice outing with family or friends. It’s a great place to chat and meet new people too :)

Went here for the first time today with a friend. We both absolutely loved it and will definitely be returning regularly. HUGE selection of games. Food and drinks are not expensive and good value. Shakes are amazing!! Staff are very friendly and helpful.

This is one of my favourite places. I tend to go once every 2 months with friends and we enjoy playing Catan. Food is slightly high priced for what you get but I guess they need to make money. Staff are always friendly and there is a huge selection of games. I recommend you book online before you go but they do accept walk ins if space is available.

Unusual cafe for gamed enthusiasts.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s a great place to spend a few hours with the kids (and adults too). There is a huge supply of games for every age and taste. The staff are all welcoming and the vibe is both relaxed and fun. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

First time visiting a board game cafe and here was a perfect introduction, really friendly staff and an excellent selection of games to try. A really good way to spend an evening with friends in a relaxed and friendly setting. Will certainly be visiting again next time I’m in the area.

Great fun, good food and drinks (Oreo milkshake was incredible!)and lots of games to choose from! We were able to stay longer than originally planned which was a real bonus too! Will definitely be back 😄

Ok so I love playing games with friends but as I got older I find this is close to impossible as we all have busy working and family lives, this makes it difficult to set up a day we can all hang out and find a table we can all sit at that don't have kids doing there homework on. So me my wife and child decided to check out this cafe never being to a games Cafe before. We was over the moon from start to finish and had so much fun. But let me start the review for my regular audience of coffee lovers, and well I expected a typical cafe coffee that had all the gear with no real training. But what was delivered was one of my favourite coffees within the local area. On this visit I did not pay attention to their skill using a coffee machine but with the result of the coffee I received this would not have been necessary as from the flavour you can tell it's a good Branded Been, It was well balanced of strength and acidity perfect for all drinkers, because of this if you are after a more bitter stronger taste just simply grab an additional shot, you prefer it more acidic avoid any use of sweetness. But I'm sure if requested the Barrister will be happy to customise it for you judging by the results I received I'm sure the Barista will be skilled enough to tip the scale in your favour. Now to the food it's a simple selection as it's based around snakky type food as it's not the primary reason for your visit, but I ordered a good selection of different things to try and was amazed yet again at the quality. My son had a Mac and Cheese which you can't go wrong I would have preferred the option to add additional spices and maybe half a tea spoon of English mustard for flavour, but I know people who order this is typical for people that are after something a little plain. The chicken burger was fresh and cooked well with a good selection of salad and sauce. The chicken and pancakes where great with a very generous portion of maple Syrup. And finally the cheesy chips were spot on no sauce you can add your own. But had a good selection of high quality cheese that did not make the chips go soggy or caused any geese to be left on the plate or chips. Then you come to the best bit, they have a very good selection of games you can grab and play at your leisure, unless you decide to bring your own. There tables have a double stack system which you can use to put any game pieces you may have under the main table , or what we did was put our plates on so it did not disturb our game that was on the main table. So over all a great experience we will definitely be doing it again and plan to book a table with friends next time

This is a must if visiting Watford!! Auntie, my Brother and I spent 3 hours here. I booked in advance and website very clear to use. On arrival we welcomed in and everything was clearly explained. We picked 3 games to play together. All games were in good condition. We had a table and ordered drinks. We had yummy milkshakes. Sharing nachos, chips and onions rings. Delicious food! They have toilets. Two rooms so lots of space to play games. Good for large parties. Very reasonable.

Good fun. Plenty of games to play and buy. Great MtG and Dungeons and Dragons community. Family friendly and good for allergies

My happy place in Watford, so fun and the milkshakes are perfect

The only difficult thing about this cafe is it's location. It's in a very secluded location in Watford. But it kinda makes the whole experience even better cause then you don't hear noises from the road. I want to list out 5 amazing things that we experienced here as a first time visitor. 1. The prices for coffee are cheaper than pret and yet it tastes amazing. I loved the fact that my ice latte was served in a small milk bottle with steel straw( bonus points for reusability) with the perfect amount of ice in it. 2. The washrooms were very clean. They also had easy access to diapers and tampons in it making it very comfortable for female customers. It also had a wheelchair accessible toilet along with a changing station for babies! 3. The collection of board games is huge and having access to their locations makes it very easy to find the games without asking the staff. 4. The staff was very friendly and warm. I just asked for a recommendation but the guy went above and beyond by not only suggesting a game but also taking time to explain the rules of it. 5. The price of 2 pounds per hour with fourth hour free worked very well for first time customers like us cause it allowed us to be flexible with the games and explore new ones. Overall, the cafe feels very homely and even though it took us 1 hour 15 mins to reach this place and the same amount to reach home, it was totally worth it and we would definitely visit again!

Great place and great staff. Its a very Inclusive place and all staff wears tags with their preferred pronouns. If you play any board game or TCG or are interested in trying some it's a great casual environment.

Great time discovering new games. I would recommend booking and looking online beforehand to choose a couple of games you like the look of.

Has good games but tables need a good clean

Brilliant little gem just outside of Watford! Brilliant food with good prices, milkshakes are gorgeous! And the board game selection is varied. Only £2/hour for a table if you're just playing the games! Would definitely recommend. They also do a stamp service where you get a stamp every time you spend over £20 and you get freebies depending on how many stamps you've collected

I went here with a friend and had a really great time. The teams made a really comfortable and friendly environment, when we visited you could tell everyone was welcome to be themselves. They have lots of games and coffee was great. I use a wheelchair and it was a little busy but everyone helped us and just great experience overall 😊

It was a great place to play some games and buy some of them too. Everything is neat located at your right there are 3 or four shelf's of different games such as ticket to ride, splendor, dominion and more. At your left you can see all the games they have to sell, news and not so new at great prices. In the middle is the front desk were the coffee and other beverages are made. Mint chocolate coffee is a great choice. So if you are near, if you wanna know new games, if you wanna try them and want to be with kind people. This is a very good place.

A real gem :) plenty of games, so everyone can find something to play. Nice atmosphere, lots of people (for a large group you better book in advance). The menu is also great for some nibbles and drinks during the game

Love this place. We try to get here every other month. Game selection is huge, food and drinks are amazing, it is LGBTQ+ friendly and the staff are awesome.

My partner and I have visited this store a number of times and we have always found it to be excellent. The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, always recommending games that have now become staples in our own gaming collection. The food is great as well with lots of options for people who are veggie (though we do want them to bring back the veggie fish fingers!) Would thoroughly recommend and when you go I suggest buying some of the mystery dice!

D20 is absolutely amazing it caters to all ages I have a 9 month old that loves the food and my son 6 year old enjoys all the games, it’s perfect for family’s or date nights fantastic food and drinks , games are so enjoyable old classics and new, Staff are incredible I have to give praise to kean in particular as I recently lost a family member and I wanted to create a special playing card in his memory from his favourite game mtg to which I have no idea about so kean designed the card and helpped me through it all in his own time I can’t thank him enough for this beautiful gift I can give to his brother, I could go on with the list of amazing things but the best advice would be go check it out yourself honestly won’t regret it!

Haven’t been for a couple of years and I was so happy to see it’s still there. Everyone that worked there was so lovely and could not have been more accommodating. They were warm and friendly, helpful and kind. Excellent value for money and food is delicious with a massive range and excellent value. Only down side are the chairs, wide butts like mine don’t stand a chance on those little metal things lol

I've gone here a few times this month and the staff are lovely! The food and drink are also amazing, they have the best iced coffee. Service is also pretty quicka and again the staff are lovely! They have a masive selection of board games to pick from from D&D to magic of the gathering to Operation ouch 😂 I definitely suggest going here if you enjoy coffee and board games.

Really enjoyable venue for a whole host of board and card games, really friendly staff with a well established and developed community. Well worth checking out and using a few hours of your day. I would recommend booking ahead if you have a group going so the staff can accommodate you better. Food is excellent with many dietary options catered for, daily specials are varied and can be very tempting. Decent coffee as well but the milkshakes are the main star. Check the events boards online or in the shop window to see when the next Friday Night Magic, Switch meet up or other event of interest is happening.

We received a warm welcome here and the games were fun. We had drinks but didn't eat. Plenty of space. Only a 4 star as the loos were a bit mank!!

Decided to come here with a friend on a Saturday evening- booked a table and was pleased to find our table ready. There are so many games to choose from and combined with some drinks and snacks makes a lovely Saturday evening. There’s no pressure to finish the games and it’s a really relaxed atmosphere. Staff were really lovely and when asked questions were able to answer. I’m not the biggest board game fan however I had a great time and the 3 hours we spent there flew past! The only thing I’d say is that is was very musty and a bit stuffy so having a fan or a window slightly opened would help the air circulate a bit more but overall I’d definitely go back!

I was only dropping my son off there, but he said it’s a great place, people are so friendly and make you very welcome

Went here for the first time and won't be going back - Clearly everyone who goes here loves to be charged £9+ for glorified microwaved goujons, baps and crisps. And is then happy to be charged £12 per head to play Uno for 3 hours after already paying roughly £20 (per head) on food/drink. Been to many (way better appointed) boardgame ect places before (in Falmouth and Rochester), who won't charge you a penny for your presence regardless of your custom.

Tasty food with plenty of vegan options and a wide range of games to pick from. The cafe has cosy decor and a great atmosphere. I would recommend for a date, family trip or meet with friends.

Amazing staff, incredible and welcoming regulars, and delicious food. Only had one bad interaction there and the staff took it incredibly seriously, flagging the person who was an issue. All the food is amazing, well worth the price, their nachos are the best I’ve ever had. They have an incredible selection of games for people who know what they’re looking for and for those who haven’t played a board game in their life the staff will recommend games and explain rules or the regulars will let you join a game and help explain it. They’ll also accommodate if you have anxiety or mental health issues. All round incredible place with great people.

Used to love this place but the new manager was just really off putting. Felt as if she was very passive aggressive towards my friends. And tended to be condescending and inserting themself into situations that weren't needed. One other member of staff who was working despite an injury was fantastic, very professional and personable, great service from her. The other male member of staff did not seem very enthused with his role, but he was at fast and polite.

Good board game cafe, plenty of games to play. Tables are fantastic, dual layer to place dishes or game boxes below. Nachos are pretty tasty, some of the best out there. Hot chocolate is rich and delicious. Games for sale as well, including yu-gi-oh and magic the gathering cards. Toilet was clean. Very welcome and well run operation.

The staff made us feel at home and explained the concept well. The board games were arranged well and it was a fun experience. The menu consisted of different cuisines and had snacks which could be eaten whilst playing.

Great, friendly service, good food at reasonable prices, and the GAMES! SO MANY GAMES! There are more in the back room, don't miss the second bookshelf! Milkshakes are awesome as well.

Looked pretty cool. Tried to walk in on Sunday but was fully booked. Lots of games to play, by different categories. You can also get food and drink throughout the day so it's an easy place to spend a few hours. Larger room at the back and also games to buy, including some funded from Kickstarter campaigns.

Had a brilliant time. Staff are all super friendly. Great atmosphere and soooo many games to chose from. I thoroughly recommend Taco Cat, but Do not play when there are drinks on the table! 😂🙄 Good food too and milkshakes. Can't wait to visit again. ☺️

An awesome place to learn and play games

The D20 Cafe is a perfect haven for geeks and nerds of all kinds to escape the real world and enjoy some good, old-fashioned tabletop gaming in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space. The regularly hosted events are an especially great way to meet new people and learn new games & gaming systems. For those less interested in long gaming sessions, and more interested in just hanging out with friends and family, the cafe is still a fantastic place for a get together. The food is good, and they have a wide selection of classic board games and party games available for a more relaxed gaming experience.

Love this place. All the staff are super helpful, and we learn a new game each time. Staff will explain rules and set you up to play the game. Awesome vegan menu.

Staff are always friendly and welcoming and the venue is always clean. We have frequented this place several times in the last few weeks and there are a number of tables to the rear of the venue, too. Toilets are clean and the venue offer a good range of food and drinks but prices can be a little expensive. I understand membership allows you a discount on food and drinks. An excellent supply of games and most staff are helpful if you need assistance with understanding games, helpful for us as we are self confessed novices! We have been to a games venue in Croydon and one in Waterloo and although D20 may not look breathtaking from the outside, the vibe once inside is better (certainly from our perspective) than the others. Final word (not the fault of the venue) is parking. Plenty of town centre parking but limited spaces on the parade itself.

So much fun at the end of the year quiz. Cannot wait to go back. So many board games to try!!!!

Discovered this place as a local board game cafe to me. Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful to teach us new games when we asked. Food and drink were fantastic (especially their milkshakes!). Will definitely be coming back more regularly

So glad we found this place...visited this afternoon prior to our girls surprise trip to the Warner brothers studios. Right up our street, incredibly chilled and relaxed, great food and girls loved their Oreo shakes. Just a shame we live so far far away......we will be back!!

I love, love, love d20 - as we have a young baby we haven't managed to get along to play games in a while but the vegan cakes are excellent. The lovely people at d20 also catered for my son's Christening and birthday and they were absolutely fab. They handled all of allergy requirements so well, with everything clearly labelled. The food was delicious and went down a storm! I'd highly recommend d20's birthday cakes and catering if you're considering an event!

Amazing find! This is such and amazing low-key place! Love the food, love the staff and absolutely love the fact they are dog friendly! Went with my sister, brother-in-law and dog and had a whale of a time. The staff are super nice and are always around to take your order, help you with a game or just to chat. Love coming here and would recommend to anyone who's looking to spend a few hours playing games and having a good time.

We spent a fun evening here (2 Adults, 14yr old and 10yr old). We had lovely food, especially the chicken and waffles. The kids were entertained throughout and we were introduced to some new games by the friendly staff. They have an enormous selection of different genre games, from fun family card games to epic strategy games.

Great cafe - really really good cakes. Friendly staff and a wide range of board games. We are new to board gaming and have been made to feel very welcome. Get a loyalty card!
