Curry Cottage at Lovers Leap in Derbyshire Dales

Great food, excellent recommendations by Adam who was brilliant front house. He definitely deserves a Maserati. Looking forward to a return visit.

Another enjoyable meal at the Curry Cottage. Took some friends for a first visit. Excellent service from Adam who was very helpful and good fun!

We have been having take aways from here regularly for over 12 years, tonight we ordered early as I was going to work, was told it would be 45 minutes , a hour and 15 mins later no sign, I rang as was told it was out for delivery , 20 minutes later no food , rang again it’s out for delivery , after 10 minutes I rang back and told them to cancel it , been cooked over an hour and would be cold! I know they are busy but we ordered early for a reason. And got false promises lost a very good customer, beans on toast it is then !!

The food here is as good as any Indian food we have tasted. The staff were attentive & knowledgeable, recommending which accompaniments were the most suitable for the dishes we had chosen. I chose the lamb Handi, which is a traditional Indian dish, and it was excellent. We were served by Adam, who made our evening with his sharp, whitty manner! We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

Well what can I say? Been coming here now for 6 years and this place never fails! From the very warm welcome to the service and the food is out of this world !! There is no other little curry house like it , we travel from Mosborough in Sheffield and is worth every mile . See you again guys soon and thank you !!!

Went for a midweek dinner at this cosy and welcoming Indian and the food was absolutely delicious. I could tell the curry was fresh, and the lightest, fluffy naans I've ever had. The waitor was extremely attentive and even made us a jug of lassi, a traditional Indian drink. Lovely!

Great food but the place was freezing cold. A real shame. Nice food, good service, but it was like an ice box and mould on the back wall which wasn't nice to look at.

I was passed to 4 different people whilst ordering over the phone. I was told by 3 of them that a butter paneer couldn’t be ordered, despite paneer and butter chicken both being on the menu. To then be told by the 4th person that it could be made. Upon collection, we were told that the card machine wasn’t working - no mention of this on the phone when I ordered the curry. Asked them where the nearest cash machine was and they didn’t know?? After finally collecting, the food was bland and flavourless. Far too much sauce to filling ratio. Cold naan breads with little filling. I don’t understand the previous reviews, the place is hugely overrated. FYI, we ended up getting cash back at the BP garage up the road.

Just had dinner at Curry’s cottage at lover leap. Very cute little Indian restaurant. Atmosphere: very nice and romantic but people like me with eye sight issues might struggle due to dim lights (depends where you sit) Service: was nice and quick. Though server was not very social. He wasn’t rude but he didn’t smiled either. Not even once. Food: taste was amazing. Spot on. Portions: mains are more than enough for 1 person but portions are out of proportion. Had to order extra naan and portion of rice to finish mains (didn’t wanted to have a take away) so now I’m stuffed. Price: we ordered mix grill as starter, saag paneer (Spinach with cheese cubes) and Dali Gosht (lentils with lamb), 2 naan and 2 portion or pulao rice and paid £41.95. Overall experience was very nice and I will come back if I will visit stoney Middleton again.

Ate here last night with the wife as we were doing a planned activity in the area. Booked a table the night before and the guy on the phone was friendly. Upon arrival we didn’t have to wait long (2 mins) before being taken to our table. Decor was nice; it’s quite a small and intimate place. Food was of a good standard and although not cheap, it wasn’t the most expensive place we have eaten. About £14 for a curry dish (before rice etc.) Service was attentive; we needed to leave before 7:30 so as to get to where we were going and staff were quick with getting the bill etc. We would eat here again if in the area.

We had a wonderful takeaway, great choice on the menu and our food was ready in 20 mins. We weren’t feeling that adventurous so didn’t venture out of our normal chicken tikka / korma but it was one of the best we have tasted and we have tried a few! Definitely will be back when we are next in the area and look forward to trying lots more off the menu.

We have wanted to eat here for some time as we pass it a lot. We were not disappointed… food was amazing and made using very fresh ingredients, Stoney Mids starter was perfect. Very friendly staff which made the evening even better. We booked to come again even before our main course arrived. Yum!

We had read about this restaurant so decided to give it a try. Visited on a Thursday evening and very busy. Unusual location with interesting story behind it. Anyway great menu and we chose the onion bhajis and veg pakoras to start followed by chicken bhuna and veg balti. The bharjis were the tastiest I've eaten and I've had a few!! The curries were delicious and plentiful. My friends was a bit too spicy for her so they provided a korma sauce to cool it down a bit. We chatted to the staff who were very friendly.
