The restaurant has now closed down and become something completely different, there are other curry places to try in the area, but so as not to disappointed - ask a local!!

E V I T A R E ! !

Pessimo.

We headed to Brick Lane due to Chef Gordon Ramsay's promise of it being 'Curry Lane' and the best curry in the world- not from our experience! After passing a £4 indian takeaway at the start of the street, all we could find was empty restaurants with the staff haggling and bargaining out the front. We ended up unfortunately succumbing to 'Curry Capital' and their £5.95 lunch deal of entree, dish and rice or naan. Not a single diner was in this or any other restaurant on the street even though it was lunchtime. The owner introduced himself after having haggled with us at the window as soon as he spotted us looking at the lunch special. We sat down and were given the full menus even though we had already said we were interested in the lunch menu offer. The owner then proceeded to make a very loud phonecall in arabic (yes everyone on Brick Lane is not indian it seems...) and ignore us for a good 10minutes until we had to ask for the lunch offer. Our order was finally taken, and the owner insisted on bringing out papadams with condiments, and we then waited about half an hour for 3 tiny pieces of lamb, less than 1 inch square per piece. The spices were good but the portions. hilariously small; what you would hand out as a taste tester sample at a market. When the entree plates were collected I said we were ready for mains; these took another 15minutes.The mains curries - chicken curry and lamb curry- were absolutely tasteless. We have paid half the price for food court indian that tasted better. This restaurant needs to take its false awards off the window, as no reviewer would be silly enough to give it any reviews for anything from ambience to service to food value or quality.

I never usually browse or write restaurant reviews, but out of curiosity thought I'd have a look to check other peoples dining experiences on this place...I went for dinner with my parents last night and the service was terrible, such rude, inattentive staff who continuously tried to scam us into ordering more expensive dishes. Having read the below comments I regret not having looked at the bill in more depth. The waiter was obviously miffed that he didn't receive a 10% tip when he shouldn't have received one at all!!(completely obligatory)...he was incredibly rude....the management/owners should be absolutely appalled at the service which is being delivered! There are no excuses, the restaurant was completely empty...which speaks volumes! Such a shame as a fabulous location.Strongly advise staying clear of this place, mediocre to poor dishes too, so the food couldn't even level out this bad experience.

I never write reviews but this place was so bad I feel I must warn people. The staff are pushy to make you order more food than you want, and when you don't they bring you extra food anyway and expect you to pay for it! Spent ten minutes arguing with them until we finally paid for just the things we ordered, £25 less than what they had originally charged. They even had the cheek to try and add on a service charge for the most disgusting service I've ever had.The food itself was distinctly average, I've eaten at a few indian restaurants in the area and they are all better than this. AVOID AT ALL COST!!

At first it seemed ok, but no. We did not want any starter, but we got one anyway that we hade to par quite a lot for, small portions of food, and they charge you extra on the bill and add a 10% service fee, for bad service. No, just go somewere else and save your money.

Visited here on a cold, dark Tuesday evening while on business in the area. I and a colleague were looking for somewhere to have a curry so Brick Lane seemed the obvious place as we were near the north end, and this is about the first place you come to when heading south. We must have looked undecided as we were spotted by someone in the place and "enticed" inside. It was pretty empty although there did appear to be a few regulars and another couple arrived soon after us who seemed to be the advance party of a larger group.I would endorse some of the previous comments about the staff - completely unprofessional and amateurish - they seemed like a random bunch who had wandered in off the street. The main guy was very attentive to start with and was very keen to point out certain items on the menu. He seemed seemed quite disappointed when we ordered completely different things that we wanted and pretty well blanked us after that. They brought a huge pile of poppadoms which actually eliminated the need for any starters. The food took some time to come and we had to prompt for a couple of items that were forgotten. Having said the, the food was not bad, although my coriander chicken grill dish was a bit sparse.I though the prices were on the high side and overall, I wouldn't go there again - there must be many better places further down Brick Lane.

The staff pushed us to order more than what we wanted and tried very hard to recommend the more expensive dishes. My girlfriend who does not eat lamb, ordered a chicken dish that came with pieces of lamb inside. The waiter then tried to tell me that what was obviously lamb was definitely chicken! The rest of the food was very average at best, don't go here, there are much better choices further south in Brick Lane.

This place use to do a decent buffet lunch years ago but has since changed management. I attended Curry Capital late one night with some guests. Once inside our popaddoms arrived stale - 3 times in a row - embarassing, but clearly not for the waiter who was very defensive and uncooperative. My guests were about to leave when the food arrived, which was not very good either. We were being pushed to leave early, but they should never have taken us in if they wanted us out so soon. Horrible time. Put a dampner to the evening enjoyment. Never ever again.

We were browsing the north end of Brick Lane, and stopped to look at the menu. Immediately the "hustler" came out to try and entice us in...We decided to give it a try, as we'd been offered free drinks. The service was rather tardy - we were well into the poppadoms, and we had to ask to order our food. The meal was rather average - certainly not deserving of a repeat visit. When the bill arrived - they'd charged for the (free) drinks, so this was removed after I pointed out that we had been enticed in with an offer of free drinks. And they also applied a 10% service charge to the bill - no mention on non-discretionary service charge, so I refused to pay that as well.If you want to eat on Brick Lane, there are far better places further south along the street, but be prepared for the "hustlers" who will start talking to you, as you stop to glance at a menu!

The thing about Brick Lane is that you have to do something right to survive, but to be the best you have to do something really special. There are two ways to look at a crowded market, and Brick Lane is most certainly crowded in terms of Indian restaurants.Option 1: Hey! There are lots of restaurants here. We need to be good so people will come back. Option 2: Hey! There's lots of customers out there. Who cares if they don't come back.I don't honestly know which option has been chosen by Curry Capital because I saw no evidence to suggest that they wanted me to come back. On the other hand, the food was so good I would be a fool to go elsewhere in Brick Lane!Like so many Indian restaurants in London, there is a stunning naivety about the place. Not one person working there - with the certain exception of the chef - shows any evidence of ever having been trained in waiting or proper customer service. Friendly? Yes, but they have no idea how, for example, to serve a bottle of wine. There's nothing wrong with this unless you expect proper service, but that doesn't happen in Brick Lane; you just get great food, hence my confusion. Do I care if I have to serve my own wine? Not here, no. I know exactly how to drink it and that's good enough for me.In summary, the food here is brilliant. The service is friendly, of course, but don't expect any frills. Just thrills. Go there! It's at the Bethnal Green Road end of Brick Lane opposite the two bagel bakeries and you'll have to climb over several other restaurants to get to it - but climb over them you must!

When they brought us drinks they placed one between two of the tables, it spilled over one of our party. Although they gave us a free drink, they didn't apologise. The group on the table next to us received dirty towels, and the table on the other side complained about the food.We walked out.

I took a client of mine out to Curry Capital for lunch as he wanted to eat Indian on Brick Lane. I told him this was my favourite restaurant on the street and we were both excited. The waiter welcomed us with a big smile but after I asked (had to asked repeatedly) for a lunch menu, he came back, slammed it on the table and his whole attitude changed. I wholly regret not walking out at this point.Throughout our lunch meeting, he kept gargling and spitting in the sink behind the bar, right next to our table. The noise was disgusting and put us both of the food.Combined with his totally negative and rude attitude after realising we won't be spending dinner time money for lunch, I had the worst eating experience ever.I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I will certainly never step my foot there again.

I have never had a more miserable dining experience in my entire life. I love Indian food. I love Brick Lane. This place made me hate both for the entire 2+ hours t took to get in & out of this hot mess. The service was not only absent, but rude. We were the only couple in the joint even though they'd been open for an hour, and it took 20 minutes for one of the waiter to take our order. Mid-order, our waiter ditched us for minutes to seat some other folks that just entered and take care of some business. When he came back, we realized he hadn't even written down the last two things we'd ordered as if he wasn't listening to us at all. Then another group of 4-5 came in 40 minutes after we did, ordered, and finished their salads before our appetizer ever arrived. Their entrees also arrived before we ever saw ours. My Chicken Tikka Masala, a staple Indian dish I taste to rate every Indian place I visit was smothered in coconut milk like I've never tasted before and the only flavor in the dish. Inedible. The naan was more of a loaf of tasteless bread for soaking up milk than real naan. Absolutely awful. Then I had to walk around to track down our waiter just to get the bill and get the hell out. Miserable food. Waste of time. Horrific service. And expensive. No, I didn't like it.

My boyfriend introduced me to this place as he used to go there regularly when he lived in London years ago. For the past 2 years now we've always gone to Curry Capital for our curry and have taken most of our friends. The curries are amazingly tasty. I highly recommend the Lamb Xacusi and the Chicken Shashik and Sag Aloo. I would not go anywher else for curry. They used to have plenty of staff but over the past year they've reduced their staff and you regularly have to remind them to bring things like drinks. The staff are friendly just overstretched.
