Been here a few times and service and drinks are really good, it’s a shame it’s closing at the end of March but worth a visit before it does, good luck for the future.

CUPS is my go-to cafe! I go almost every week - the staff are always friendly and happy to either chat or let you focus on work / reading / enjoying the gorgeous view of the cathedral directly opposite. The coffee is well-made and there's a great choice if you like the flavoured / fancy sorts of coffee too. Good selection of snacks (LOVE the cinnamon rolls here) and food (the toasties are huge and so tasty). I've also used the board game facility upstairs when I've had friends visiting - you hire a table for £5 / hour, for which you have access to SO MANY different games. Great atmosphere, great music, great coffee - would highly recommend.

I dropped in for coffee and a cake during the Christmas shopping period and they provided not only a delicious respite from the cold but also furnished me with the perfect gift in the form of a small portable board game to give to a family member who likes them. The staff were knowledgeable about games and coffee, and the cakes were excellent. I'll definitely be coming back with others to try out more of the games.

I love the idea of a games cafe. It’s a nice little place. I would have gone upstairs and paid to play their games but was in a bit of a rush. Brilliant idea. Good selection. Was going to play my own quick 10min. game downstairs but would have been charged £5. To play my own small game in a cafe. I would have been a repeat customer. I’m sure I would have bought games there. Next time I will go to any other cafe and play my own short game for free. Also the milkshakes were very expensive.

A lovely unique coffee shop. The staff are so welcoming, the coffee and cakes are delicious and if you like board games you can partake for £5. They’re also very dog friendly. I would highly recommend Cups

Really cute, lovely drinks, lush cakes (recommend the carrot cake!) and very friendly and welcoming staff! Recommend the iced teas! I had a passionfruit and lemon iced tea and it was incredibly yummy! Love supporting independent cafes over the corporations exactly for this pleasant atmosphere!

Visiting Chester and popped into Cups for a coffee. As the cakes looked so good, had to try those as well. The lemon drizzle was one of the best I have had and the coffee was equally outstanding. The service was very good too. A hidden gem opposite the cathedral. Highly recommended.

My wife and I visited by chance on a weekend break to Chester. The coffee was good, the paninis were tasty, there were over 150 games to choose from and the staff were friendly. It was only £5 for 2 hours in the games room and the staff will help to explain the games if you ask. They have competitive and cooperative games suitable for ages 7 and up. I would strongly recommend a visit.

Spent an afternoon here with a group of friends and had a great time. Very good selection of board games from casual to advanced. The staff were super friendly and couldn't do more for us, they even moved some tables round so we had more room :) Big range of drinks and cakes too, couldn't be happier!

Super cool and a great place to hang out - so many games that we'd never heard of all brilliantly explained and set up by the staff. And the staff are all so friendly. The food was great and well priced too. We want to move in .. wish we lived nearby and we'd be there all the time. This from a family aged 14, 12 and 9. All the kids normally just play on their electronic devices, but loved it!!

Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

Stumbled on this wonderful cafe as we were on our way home from a camping trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and were so welcoming and kind to my 5yo daughter. The food was amazing, we both had the breakfast and my daughter had a lunch box which she loved and I thought it was great value, when we went inside to pay we couldn't not buy one (or two) of the amazing cakes. So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.

Not religious at all but like other reviewers found this true OASIS when looking for refreshment in Chester Just great, lovely staff and clientele and great quality and value coffee and cakes... Interesting selection of books, gifts, cards etc Would use regularly if we lived locally Staff say they may have to relocate soon due to "commercial development of the site" Surely the Church which is not short of funds can provide an alternative venue for this wonderful place which probably does more for spreading the religious message than many more traditional churches etc...something in the Cathedral Precinct maybe?? Good luck to you all and God bless ( if it helps)
