Great music, great beer, great staff, lovely atmosphere!!

Lovely little beer garden is a great sun trap if the sun ever comes out, pizza and cocktails are delicious!

Whether I pop in for a coffee at the end of an arduous dog walk or nightcap at the end of an endless round of carousing, i know there will be a warm welcome from the cuckoo crew. The pizza is different to the other prestwich offerings and still great value. The new event space is a welcome addition to one off and regular entertainment.

Been in a few times and can honestly say you can’t fault the place. The food, the service and the drinks are outstanding. If you’re looking for a brunch place, an evening dinner place or even just a light snack, this is the place to go in Prestwich. The menu is limited to grazing boards and pizzas however the selection is wide with so many options of pizzas. We opted for a hot honey pizza and a meat pizza (cannot for the life of me remember the name). We also got a side of wedges which were so delicious. Definitely recommend!

Amazing place that is like a TARDIS, the outside space outside is brilliant with great table service. Can't wait to go back.

I don't live in Manchester anymore but on a recent visit to Prestwich made a point of visiting Cuckoo as I have always enjoyed the drinks , ambience and food. I am glad to report that Cuckoo is still very much worth a visit. It serves the best coffee and Pizza in Prestwich and the reason Cuckoo survives while other places close is simple.. The food and pizzas are great and reasonably priced, The drinks and coffee are good,the staff are always friendly and welcoming and the music is good. Simple really! I will return again on my next visit to Prestwich.

Service was a bit slow, but it was busy, and there were only two servers working.

We are new to the area. Cuckoo was recommended and I can say we were not disappointed. Kate and kinyemi were the most hospitable hosts. Amazing we will definitely be returning. Thank you..

Cute little place with a wonderful selection of drinks. We didn't eat here because we only stopped for a drink, but we will be back to try out the food when we are next in the area.

Such a disappointing visit today (28/12/2023) We turned up in the afternoon and got a table near the window. It wasn't very busy at all. We were told it was table service only and were given menus. We decided what we wanted and waited, and waited, and waited....... The waitress was totally oblivious and never acknowledged us even though the till was right next to our table. Eventually, we got fed up and walked out. I don't even think the waitress noticed us leaving and was completely unaware of who was in the place. Such a shame as we'd planned to have cocktails and order food. Cuckoo, you lost a customer today and we won't bother to come again either

Couldn't take order for pizza as shift changed from breakfast menu to afternoon/lunch. Gave up and ordered a tasteless doughnut instead. Coffee good though

Had our work's Christmas do there, food was top notch, told the team downstairs as I was leaving, definitely will be coming here to a slice of two with friends

Avoid. Awful service by a waitress who couldn't be a*****. We were warned of a 30-45 min wait on pizzas...then nobody returned to take the order. So we had a drink then left. Pizzas coming from the oven looked poor. Cute snug little place otherwise!

Love this place. So friendly and the food's delish. Nice local beer too.

We have had lovely meals and drinks here. Always so welcoming and helpful. They are also understanding and accommodating of food allergies. Dog friendly too!

Great venue and lovely place , however I’m not sure the music actually needs to be as loud as it is . People go out to talk and you can’t because it’s that loud , shame really as the place and staff Brilliant. And this is only my opinion puts me off going at night , in the day it’s fine

The food is fantastic, and as a regular it always is - however the service the last couple of times has been dreadful. They have a lot of staff sitting at the bar visibly scrolling through Instagram instead of serving drinks. Food took ages, over an hour and 15 mins. No apology or explanation. Bit of a shame as doubt I would go back.

I've been here a few times now and I've always been happy. Their pizzas are great - I particularly liked the Alonso pizza. The coffee is good too and staff are friendly.

Really enjoyed watching The Villanelles on Saturday afternoon. A really friendly bar with a funky relaxed vibe.

First of all staff were so friendly and welcoming - especially with our dogs too! One of the best pizzas we have ever had, so so good! 100% reccomend

Great place, lovely atmosphere, like the feel of the whole place, especially downstairs. Would make a great venue for a function. Food and drink for the most part was great, the scrambled egg on ciabatta was the only downside with the eggs to bread ratio not quite right (not much in the way of egg compared to the bread). I took a pic of mine which was the full breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly.

What a find! Stopped here on way back from manchester, fantastic oh- so -different summer cocktail menu (all named after festivals) and delicious handmade plentiful pizza...busy quite noisy and lively but thats great! Will be back!

Fab little place. Stopped off here en route to Cumbria from Kent (via cycle) after needing a well earned drink. Lovely friendly staff and I was made to feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend to cyclists and non cyclists alike!

Great place. Awesome cocktails, tasty pizza, cool soundtrack and lovely team. Prestwich is lucky to have this cafe in the neighbourhood.

This place has a decent vibe but the service is ridiculously slow. Our table only ordered 3 pizzas but we were waiting almost an hour for these. No acknowledgement or apology from the staff which makes me wonder if this just is how they roll.

I am a bit late to the party I fear. This place was amazing. Had two pizzas and the humus as a starter. The most friendly staff you could ever ask for. Service was quick but with a warm smile. It’s actually a really large venue with an upstairs area perfect for getting some work done during the day and downstairs for late night drinks with friends. There is a real friendly and welcoming vibe to the place with an outdoor area too undercover and with heaters. Really recommend this place. They do brunch as well as pizza and we had a lovely time. Three children and adults.

Fabulous place with great music, friendly staff and a laidback feel to it. Out of all the bars etc in Prestwich this is our favourite by far.

Love this place. Great pizzas, great food, great service. And I can take my dog too. It gets busy in the evenings so make sure you’re early if you want to sit in a specific spot!

Lovely place to have a cocktail and the pizza was really good. Got charged for drinks we didn’t have and only saw the bill after we’d paid which is why lost a star.

Even though the food was good it took OVER AN HOUR!!!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡(I could’ve done the weekly shop in this time or run 10k) for fries and a ciabatta to arrive (worth only £7). Drinks also took 20 mins to arrive.(A hot chocolate, lemonade and a coke) Brownie took 45 mins. Heard other staff telling visitors that wait was an hour, but they didn’t tell us this and we heard this 45 minutes in to our wait. This just isn’t acceptable. It usually is a lovely place. Great atmosphere and everything but over an hour for seven pounds worth of stuff should not be acceptable for a well respected local business. A waste of a good hour or so of my time. Overall I’m disappointed for what could’ve been a lovely visit, just took too long.

Omg so overrated. We went as a family of 3 for brunch. Firstly you can only get ciabatta here (aside from pizza) even if you order a cuckoo breakfast which is essentially a full English - don’t expect to be able to get sliced bread!!! Secondly no one asks how you like your eggs or bacon - ours were so overdone it wasn’t enjoyable. The beans tasted like they’d come from Aldi across the road - but I have to say the sausages were good. The coffee that came would have been nice if it had been hot - it was warm. The tea was good. Service was diabolical and I mean how are 5 servers (I counted 5) not able to serve a maximum of 12 customers within a reasonable time frame? Service was sooooo slow it was a joke. Couple that with the dogs brought in by other customers that kept barking (it’s a very small space) it was not at all an enjoyable outing. All this at premium prices. Not worth the petrol - sorry won’t be eating chez vous again.

Always fantastic food. The system of what is served and what you do yourself could be clearer. The staff assume because they know - you know. This is a minor issue though - fantastic place.

Generally I enjoy a meal here. I have always been with my children past 8pm. Tonight arrived with my eldest and her grandparents for a post op treat, given she has just had major spinal surgery and doesn’t often see her grandparents. This was a treat, for her and for us to see her out and able to enjoy herself. We were shown to a table, given a menu, asked for a drinks order and food order. Once we had given this asked for ID for the 12hr old not drinking. Then told we had 15minutes before she needed to leave. Family friendly eating is not an option here. She was a quiet 12 yr old girl causing no trouble that spent the rest of the evening apologising for the blatant disregard and compassion of this restaurant. Pizzas are great and we have visited numerous times but this has almost certainly assured that we will not visit again. Anatolian grill up the road on the other hand fantastic and very family friendly.

Called in for a pre- festwich cocktail yesterday. Wasn’t sure whether we’d find a seat as was so busy. But the staff welcomed us immediately and promptly got us seated and served within minutes! Half an hour later we were told there was seating newly available outside if we preferred. Perfect and very thoughtful of the attentive staff. Cocktails were amazing as ever - I have to say honestly the best cocktails Ive ever found ; pure quality and great value for money ( not the watered down crud you get in the big chain places!) Was so good we stayed for pizza too! If you want Great food. Quality drinks. Excellent value for money. Friendly service ( no matter how busy) Beautiful decor and a warm welcoming atmosphere…. Then CUCKOO is your place!

Appalling. The good reviews here must have been added by locals. This is one of a few bars we visited from our home a couple of miles away in Salford. As we walked in ‘garden is closed get a seat anywhere’.. sat but no menus… after 25 mins went to the bar to try and order, told to sit and wait for our order to be taken.. 15 mins later an order taken.. drinks dropped 10-15 mins later with nothing said and no glass for the German beer. Awful DJ - changing tunes mid-track and mixing between the lower and upper floors. Too busy enjoying himself near the bar. We moved upstairs and waited for more service. We were ignored. It was embarrassing and pretty shameful. The staff were having shots with the locals whilst we waited. As there isn’t much choice around there, we decided to try another drink. Eventually got the girls attention, she came over - asked for a menu as drinks aren’t shown anywhere, she came back, slapped the menu down and walked off without speaking. We ordered another drink, silence from her again, and delivered by another girl dropping and walking away. We paid the bill (eventually, we considered walking off but we are nice people), again girl barely waited for the machine to read before walking away without a word. Plenty of chat with the locals though. We preferred the Red Lion across the road (and that’s bloody awful, but at least it didn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is). A bar that is a plaything for the locals that frequent it.

Been here 6 times to order food from the take away hatch and I’m never allowed to order , always too busy or the chef is refusing to do takeaway. Save yourself the hassle and avoid the take away hatch that doesn’t to takeaway A cash point would be a better use of the space

Absolutely killer place. The drinks and food are perfect, not to mention the the staff! One woman, I think her name was Zoe...was marvellous. Highly recommend this joint.

Surprisingly been a few a times when they’ve ran out of pizza. Not ideal as it makes up 90% of the menu. Waiting staff are hit and miss some friendly some miserable. The one time I went when they did have pizza it was sloppy and undercooked. No crisp on the base what so ever. The refusal to serve at bar and insist everyone waits 45 mins for a drink is bizarre. Far better alternatives in Prestwich.

After visiting friends for a very boozy evening yesterday, we eloped off for a hangover breakfast this morning, cuckoo was the perfect spot. The baked eggs is so so tasty, the eggs are poached in a tomato sauce with crispy cheese on top, I am already craving it again. My husband had the typical english breakfast and complimented the sausages (which is quite a deal for him). We look forward to our next trip back to Manchester and will make sure we bring out friends next time!

We shared the Gordon Zola pizza and it was delicious!! Staff were so attentive and friendly. The garden is such a lovely space. Cocktails are amazing. We’ll definitely be back!

Met my vegan friend for lunch yesterday and wanted to introduce him to Cuckoo in Prestwich, a nice bar that does good food/pizzas, and I knew had vegetarian/vegan options. We ordered lunch, my friend ordered a veggie pizza but forgot to ask for vegan cheese (which was available at £1 extra). The waitress never asked if we had any dietary requirements or if he’d like the vegan cheese, she was more interested in a dog sitting at the next table. Minutes later my friend realised his mistake and went up to the bar to ask for the vegan cheese instead as a dietary requirement. The waitress apologised and said the chef had already put the pizzas in the oven and was fuming! She’d still have to bring the wrong pizza to our table, but so long as we didn’t eat it then it would be taken off our bill. We both thought this was a bit weird! She brought my pizza and the one we didn’t want, and again said to just leave it untouched, and my friend’s vegan cheese pizza would follow in a few minutes. When the vegan cheese pizza arrived, I asked her to please take the extra wrong pizza away as we didn’t want it and it was just very odd to leave it on our table. She again said no she’d have to leave it there until we’d finished our meal, and again how furious the chef was! It left us feeling very awkward during our meal, having to sit there with an extra pizza and knowing the chef was fuming over a mix up on the cheese! When we had finished she cleared our empty plates and finally took the extra pizza back to the kitchen, we paid the bill and left. I would have said something at the time, but didn’t want to make a bigger issue of what was very strange customer service, and rude behaviour of the chef to get so upset over a cheese mix up!

Wonderful place. Staff very friendly and food is always delicious. Such a great little gem. Music is always great aswel which is hard to find. I always get the pizza from here and a cocktail, bang on everytime. Definitely recommend 👌

Nice space, but not a friendly place. With a group of friends, 5 in total, we visited Cuckoo on Easter Sunday for drinks after a lovely lunch elsewhere. We noticed immediately that the crowd present was a quite young one, but we never thought that we could be treated any different from the rest. This because we possibly spent more in about 30 mins than some larger (younger) groups might have done all day, sitting there & purchasing a drink only, maybe 2. Oh well, luckily Prestwich is a lovely town with so many more bars/pubs to choose from, and all friendlier than Cuckoo.

We went for some coffees and cocktails and really enjoyed the sun trap in the back garden area, friendly staff and great drinks! Loved that they were dog friendly and had highchairs :)

Amazing bar & staff, lovely breakfast

I feel discriminated. My 'nephew' is nearly 19 but looks younger, lucky him. I am over 60. I vouched for his character and he was able to produce his birth certificate. But no, no driving licence or passport means you have to leave at 8pm. There was no way we could eat in 20 minutes. I cancelled the order. A special night out ruined. A wasted journey. The Manager suggested that I go earlier next time. There won't be a next time.
