Automatic Cafe in Bury

Unfortunately this closed down before Christmas. We actually visited The Met to watch a pantomime which is linked to the restaurant. I'm rating three stars because it was an amazing place when it was open

This is a nice friendly pub which sells real ales which are drinkable and of small breweries This pub is clean and this pubs main expenditure is spent on its food It has a good menu, which is always on when open and it has ample tables for people to dine at Any one wishing to eat and drink out at a pub this outlet is the place to eat at On Saturday 8th July 2023, we again visited this eating and real ale pub This pub is a good real ale pub This pubs downfall is that it has only 2 hand pumped ales on offer This pub needs to get a couple more real ales on asap, and it would then get 5 stars off me Everything else about this pub was fantastic today staff atmosphere and cleanliness of pub👍

Lovely, we had chicken skewers with s superfood salad and fish and chips- great service- and very tasty grub!

Great food, nice wine, great service

Food and service was really good! Food came out quickly and hot! There was so much I’ve taken some home. We both went for the steak and it was cooked just as we asked, medium rare! The peppercorn sauce is amazing

Went for a meals with 2 friends, ordered drinks, they didnt even have orange cordial, ordered food, all 3 of us ordered the fish, waiteress came back 10mins later & said we have no fish, very disappointed so paid for drinks & went elsewhere

Pleased to say the place is back up to its former high standard both in service and food. Very good food and Very Good Service. Whatever youve done with staff training - its noticable. More plesant , good food again and great service.

Came in for dinner before a gig - the food and service was great as always. Can recommend the Sunday Steak Night!

Had a english breakfast was great but no as good due to no Black Pudding and uncooked tomato come on owners Bury is the capital of Black Pudding get it back on

Full English Breakfast with a Cappuccino coffee The latter a little less hot and smaller than expected but a good taste. Bacon a tad overdone but again tasty. I'd like to see the vine tomatoes back like I've had before not just a half slice. Everything else was very nice and reasonably priced. Good atmosphere, quiet and just my kind of relaxing music. Overall I would recommend it to others.

Waited ages for eggs Benny when finally arrived lukewarm runny sauce very fatty burnt bacon and eggs yuk needless to say I didn't eat it and sent it back .Bill arrived no charge .

Friendly, swift excellent service. Lovely food and drink. Definitely worth a visit. The only negative comment is that the kitchen closes at 20:00

Woefully understaffed, which is inexcusable considering that the number of customers could be predicted, given the booking information for the show people came to attend!

Called in over the weekend. As usual the food was great and service was very quick. A good place to eat whilst in Bury.

Fabulous customer service from Mel, she was attentive, courteous and accommodating. We requested to sit in a private area which was empty but she allowed us to use the room. She offered us water with our order and nothing was too much trouble. She is a credit to the team

Efficient helpful staff great choice of drinks

American waffles with syrup and bacon with added poached eggs (as a special request) - food arrived in good time, was absolutely delicious and will happily visit again. Excellent service, too!

Fantastic service, nothing was too much trouble. Waiters really friendly. Great selection of food for vegans and vegetarians. Would highly recommend.

My Sister and I went for lunch. We had the Club sandwich and Fish sandwich. The food was lovely, however the fish sandwich came with 2 slices of bread and the portion of fish was so tiny it hardly covered half a slice of bread...

Food and service is always excellent. Menu seems to have shrunk a bit but I guess it's to reduce operating costs during these challenging times.

New menu but the old favourites were still on it, but with a bit of a twist. As always tasty and good service. We will be back soon.

Different to a few years ago, food was okay I had the club sandwich which had chicken and egg on it (but weird), sweet potato fries great. Staff were very friendly. Still one of the nicer places in bury but different to how it was 5 years ago

Lovely setting and staff. Food was a disaster, no pizza with an egg on top which we came for, settled for Mongolian beef which came with chips for some reason, 4 mouthfuls and I was done. Went to the kebab shop over the road afterwards as I was that hungry.

Ordered the chicken skewers and flat bread and was very disappointed. Two tiny skewers of dry chicken with no flavour (should’ve been sriracha and honey). The flatbread was very tough and hard to cut or chew and very little feta and sweet potato. My friend...

The food was amazing and service was good .The cocktails were a but if a let down especially the espresso one we had to send it back.

Been many years since visiting here. We didn't eat but had a couple of drinks before going upstairs to watch a performance. It was super busy when we got there but service was quick and efficient.

Had a full English breakfast. Food was stunning and staff were really welcoming and friendly 🙂

Won't even rate it never been refused a drink and I'm 55 years old shocked at the response of staff was with my daughter who's 32 gone elsewhere no problems.

We come to Automatic fairly regularly. We thought the portion sizes on this occasion were excellent, also they do the best garlic bread in town! Service is always with a smile too. If you’re ever at a loose end in Bury consider having lunch here.

We've come back, we've been plenty of times but we joined my Wife's Uncles tonight. We love it here. We were served by the fantastic Nicola again, who remembered me. She's great. For starters, we all shared the garlic bread with cheese and tomatoes, and Hummus. For mains, my Wife ordered the Piri Piri Chicken Burger and I ordered the Superfood Budha Bowl with Salmon (against the advise of Nicola, ha). As always, the food was outstanding.

Helpful staff. Orders taken then had to wait 30 minutes for it to arrive. Well presented. Had the eggs benedict. Not much taste in the hollandaise sauce and bacon overdone.

Didn't go there we were next door in the met

Eaten in there two or three times recently and they’re plagued by flies that constantly land in your soup, coffees and teas. Speaking of soup the chefs seem intent on adding far too many spices to their soup with two of our party totally unable...

We came here for my Wife's 30th Birthday on Thursday, October 10th. Firstly, all throughout the evening, we were served by the wonderful Nicola. She was fantastic and I must say, one of the best waitresses I've come across. In my opinion, Automatic should make...

The service was ok...the food was dreadful...I had the grilled Salmon with new potatoes and broccoli....£15. It wasn't worth a fiver...it tasted like it was warmed up...certainly not fresh My friend had tandoori chicken skewers..which were inedible, with non crispy lettuce soaked in sour yoghurt.......

Always a good meal here, and the Fish Finger Sandwich has to be tried to be believed!

We have had meals here on a few occasions when we've been attending event at The Met - excellent choice of food on the menu at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is good and the staff are both friendly and efficient

Visited this restaurant with family. Service was good. Drinks good.... food was very mediocre at best. Lacked flavour and not served hot.. no check backs done on the table... was a 1st Visit bit would try again

I have been to Automatic twice in a week. Once for lunch & Cocktails on a Thursday and once on a Saturday late afternoon with friends. Both times the food has been really nice. Three of us had the fish and chips lightly battered and we all really enjoyed it. The cocktails are 2 for 1 on a Thursday and Friday and they were fab. Much better than the ones at the Sky Bar further down the street. I have been other times with various friends and family. I would highly recommend Automatic. The staff are lovely and very efficient.

Great food, friendly staff, but dreadful toilets ! Especially the disabled one. Hygiene !!! ( 2/3*) the rest 4*. .....

Ate here before attending a gig at The Met. A good choice of food, and very good too. A good range of drinks, and the added bonus of good real ales. Staff friendly and helpful.

Great cafe-restaurant at the city centre. Had the fried chicken and pizza and both was delicious. Definitely recommend and will visit again.

Had a fantastic meal at Automatic before going to a concert at the Met Theatre. One of the best steaks I've had for a long time; perfectly cooked (medium rate) and the peppercorn sauce was very tasty. Excellent value and the staff went over and...

We felt judge coming today . They put us in corner near toliets . We got looked at customers and staff . The steak was asked to be well done but it was pink .felt uncomfortable to be well done . Vegan was very oil could taste oil . Would come back wasn't looked wasn't judge .

Came in for a date with the other half tonight and had impeccable service through out, both had 2 courses. Nothing was too much she was happy to do anything for us

Visited this restaurant many times before Covid and it was excellent. Have recommended to many. On our first pre-concert visit since the pandemic we were very disappointed. The staff were polite and friendly as before, the food however was not. The menu has changed considerably...

A very nice place to chill with a drink or a nice cocktail . Or just have a bite to eat the pulled pork sandwich is to die for just pop in the morning eggs Benedict lovely for breakfast and if you want it as a brunch the serve it till 4pm

Really like this place, staff are great, lighting,food and the rum dark n stormy cocktails are killers. They were doing a rump steak plus the trimmings and a mini pan of peppercorn sauce for £10 on Sundays, why not.. not disappointed, cooked medium, great sauce,...

Visit here once a week usually perfect. Rang up tonight to ask what time they was open til and when they stopped serving food, advised 9pm they stopped serving. I arrived at 8:30pm to be rudely told the kitchen was shut as it was too quiet. The rude girl with a bad attitude kept advising ‘she’s only been told that’ and quite frankly wasn’t interested in the 35 minute drive it took me to get there. Left and could clearly see the girl at the end laughing. Overall attitude is disgusting and very disappointing.

Personally I think Automatic is very expensive and the food is not worth the money. I only had fish and chips. The fish was ok. The 'chunky' chips were hard and dry and the mushy peas had brown bits in them, where I think they had caught on the bottom of the pan. The waiting staff were very polite, but as we were a party of 12, the meals didn't all come out at the same time. After 5 or so minutes the condiments were brought to the table. Too late really as half of us had to start eating unless we wanted cold food. Not impressed with the menu choices.

Superb food, great atmosphere and very good staff

My partner and I often come to this restaurant, it's our absolute favourite. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is lovely and the staff are attentive. I organised a surprise meal for his 30th birthday last weekend and the staff couldn't have made it more special if they'd tried. They helped me organise every detail and decorated the table beautifully. Even though we were a larger group the food all came out together and was delicious as always, my partner and all our guests had a wonderful time. Thanks again Automatic Cafe x

The food at the Automatic cafe was quite nice and the menu offered many great options - better than your average pub. On Sundays they also have a £10 Steak deal all day which is what my boyfriend opted for. Overall the dish was great...

Still good, but not as good as it used to be....

The food was lovely with a varied menu for all tastes. I fear the cafe is suffering from lack of staff as service was poor. We had to ask 3 times for the dessert menu then were told there's a long wait for service despite what we wanted would have been pre-prepared. The background music was so loud that everyone had to speak so loudly that the place was very noisy and hence not exactly a relaxing meal.

Been wanting to go here for a while.. cute place.. service was amazing but very loud and hard to hear.. partner had fry up with was good apart from the added salt to everything... I had a pizza again very salty and bottom was greasy....

Having literally just eaten here, the food was divine. But the wait not so great. We waited half a hour after our plates were taken for the sweet menu & coffee to be offered, then gave up. We did bring this up on paying the bill & the young lady said she had asked us on removing plates did we want anything else. But we both beg to differ, as neither one of us could recall that happening despite my asking my partner in front of her if he wanted a sweet. The food was fab, but for me personally a meal is not a meal without a liqueur coffee. So have left feeling a little bit cheated 🤔
