Cub in Hackney

Oh my what an absolutely amazing culinary experience ... loved it. Such a delicious evening. The food was exquisite, the service impeccable and the atmosphere was the right mix of foodie fun and earthy sustainability. So pleased to have made it ... we will be back! Thank you !!!

Este restaurante fue una sorpresa. Acabo de regresar de Verona, me sentí limpio viniendo aquí. Relajado y fresco, el menú tenía que ver con una alimentación sostenible. La comida era interesante y sabrosa Uber. El personal era apasionado y conocedor. Una verdadera experiencia gastronómica. Gran trabajo y gran concepto.

Abbiamo passato una piacevole serata, seduti di fronte allo chef, abbiamo potuto curiosare la preparazione dei menu e interagire con lo staff molto gentile e disponibile. Il progetto è molto interessante e ruota intorno al concetto della sostenibilità. Il set menu, l’unico disponibile, è un percorso che alterna drink e piatti e ruota intorno alla valorizzazione di materie prime meno nobili e recupero di tutte le parti. Ottimo lavoro. È stata una bella scoperta

En pocas palabras, la comida era absolutamente deliciosa. La capacidad de mover fluidamente al cliente a través de una variedad de sabores maravillosos mediante el uso de alimentos y bebidas fue científicamente excelente. Además de esto, el servicio fue perfecto. En particular, la camarera mantuvo brillantemente las cosas informales y relajadas al tiempo que defendía la santidad de lo que estaba sirviendo. Ella hizo que lo que ya era una gran noche fuera perfecta.

Fui a Cub por recomendación de otro británico. Nos gustó mucho el concepto y la comida era excelente. Sin embargo, todavía teníamos hambre cuando nos fuimos. Otro cliente en la misma mesa compartida también escuchó decir: "Siento que no he comido nada".

I cannot believe that Cub isn't rated higher on TripAdvisor, it's incredible. Myself and my partner visited and before the visit we advised we were vegan. I understood from previous research that they accommodated vegans, however wasn't expecting such a brilliant meal. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, they explain the restaurants sustainability and each team member shows such enthusiasm for the food, drinks and how its obtained. It's completely refreshing to see such passion. The food itself was wonderful and full of a wide array of flavours. The same goes for the drinks that were delicious. Cannot recommend enough!!

This is the first time my husband and I have visited this restaurant, but we will definitely return. The drinks were all fabulous, though be aware it's not a drinks pairing as such. Wine is offered (for a separate cost), but we really didn't feel it necessary and were not quite sure when you'd drink wine during the meal with six other drinks being brought to the table throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the first three courses. How on earth they managed to get so much flavour into the crab broth I do not know, but it was sensational. My main criticism was that the next couple of courses both had a lot of foam and the dessert, while delicious, was also quite foamy in texture. I don't mind a bit of foam, but course 4 and 5 just felt a bit samey texture wise. I didn't enjoy the artichoke dish, but I think that was down to personal taste more than anything. Despite this small criticism I've given Cub 5 out of 5 as most of the food was absolutely delicious, as were all the drinks, and we felt it represented brilliant value for money. The atmosphere was relaxed and we didn't feel rushed at any point. The meal took almost two hours and when I asked if we had time for a cocktail (I thought they may need the table back after two hours) the reply was "of course". I'm not sure how much the reviewer who likened it to a weight loss spa usually eats, but my husband and I both felt it was the perfect amount of food and left feeling pleasantly full. I can't wait to return!

Cub focuses on sustainability. They serve a £67 delicious set menu of small dishes and cocktails, everything being sustainably sourced. The plates are all quite experimental and beautifully dressed. The waiters were really friendly and explained us the dishes’ concepts very clearly. They managed to keep a very relaxed vibe while serving high quality food. The whole experience was great!

This place is a bit weird, you really should know what you're getting into before you submit and to be clear, it's not really food as you might consider it. Our table came to a consensus that the caloric content of the actual food was probably around 400 - we might be off, but it was certainly less satisfying than a dinner at say, a weight-loss spa. One of our waitresses was absolutely delightful; another a teensy bit surly. The drinks ranged from OK to excellent. The food was interesting and experimental, but it definitely should have been accompanied by something more typical and filling in order to really consider it 'dinner'. I had the temerity to ask for salt during one of the courses - our waiter's response: Let me go back and check with Chef. !!!!!!! £70/head and we all left hungry.

Absolutely incredible experience again! My fiancé and I came here in January and were blown away by the personable service, great atmosphere, and incredible food and drinks. We loved it so much that when my family was visiting from the US we built our London trip itinerary around visiting CUB. Needless to say we had high expectations coming back, and again were completely blown away by the quality of food and service. Wait staff were very knowledgeable and professional, but also incredibly personable. We felt like we were in the company of friends. What can we say about the food and drinks other than absolutely amazing. You really can’t compare the set menu to anything else out there. We have dined all over the world, at Michelin star restaurants and restaurants in the worlds top 50 that you see on Chefs Table. Reflecting on our experience for the quality, value, story telling, and service, this has been the best meal of our life. Were also super fortunate to have met Mr. Lyan himself while we were there. Thank you CUB so much for the amazing experience. You made our London trip one of the best family vacations we have ever had.

Musique assourdissante, verre de vin au 1/4 plein (le seul du repas), cuisine derrière le bar (plus petite que dans un camping car). On est plus dans un coté Dinette trendy (assemblage d’ingrédients), que gastronomie. Par expérience l’assiette de (quelques) radis natures pour commencer est un très mauvais présage pour la suite du repas.

This is a great place to come for a special occasion- more so than just a regular dinner. We came here for my boyfriends birthday and it was a wonderful experience. This is the type of place to go to if you want to experience something different, interesting and fine :) Really great for vegans wanting to experience something more fusion-type and experimental, tasty small dishes, variety of cocktails, and very wonderful, friendly and welcoming staff, who explain the story behind each drink and dish. You can tell they put their hearts and souls into the restaurant.

This is our favourite London restaurant. The service and food are always impeccable. A must-visit. All restaurants should emulate Cub’s sustainable ethos... !

We visited Cub on a Thursday night and it was amazing. The diversity and complexity with sustainability coupled was a sight to behold. The food was outstanding and it was cleverly mixed (and sometimes specifically not) with the drinks. The team with Fernando at the helm were amazing with each person bringing their own vibe and personality. Anyone wanting a different experience of bio diverse and organic wines needs to explore the menu for something liminal and very much outside of the box. Everything on the menu has its own place with its own story. We could not have wished for a better evening and would recommend to all. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
