Loved the wee hob hut and glad we opted for this rather than camping in October. There were a couple of misunderstandings re booking regarding number of dogs/additional cost but the site was very accommodating which was appreciated. The warden we met on site was super friendly as was his wife in the cafe and the person we spoke to on the phone confirming our booking the day before. Great bacon rolls and coffee served with a smile and a chat at the Cruachan cafe. The showers and toilets were cleaned regularly and the accomodation was clean and had everything needed for a brief stay. The showers were a bit dated and really not big enough to be able to get undressed/dressed and keep everything dry and off the floor or condensated walls. Shower nice and hot though. Bigger space with a seat would be great 😀. Maybe also a couple of hanging hooks in the hob? We were a bit lost where to put wet coats.

Very nice big campsite, very dog-friendly, would definitely go again. Particularly nice to be able to access the facilities of the neighbouring Loch Tay Highland Lodges, but it would be good to have a better-quality path or road linking the two (the existing one is just a track and muddy in the wet). A bit odd to see COVID signs up still - confusing to have a one-way system and a numbers limit in the loos, until we remembered COVID! - made us wonder a bit about the maintenance. All in all, we liked it!

We arrived on a Tuesday and everything was shut. Had a small touring caravan, facilities quite poor. It was all muddy. We had to drive 3 miles into Killin to look for food. We’re supposed to stay 3 nights but we left after 2. Had a dog but up to the eyes in mud walking him. The scenery was beautiful but disappointed The Boathouse restaurant and farm cafe were both closed. Just had to drink and eat in our small caravan!

Campsite seemed to be a bit disorganised… the boathouse bar was ok when it was open!! But no crisps or nuts very basic. We were on the campsite which had a shower block by the tent field, it had two showers which were lovely & warm but grubby. A bucket of water was there to be used to wipe the floor after a shower, it was filthy, the floor was cleaner without using it. Toilets weren’t great either.. sanitary products on the floor, which were there for a day & a half before moved & cleaned. To be honest I was a little underwhelmed by the place.

Stayed in a pod. Well equipped. Annoying that the mattress is much longer than standard so our fitted sheet did not fit: my view is they should therefore provide under sheets. Lovely location but toilets grubby.

When the site said bring everything you would if you were camping except a tent, I did! Turns out I really didn’t need to at all! Almost everything is here with the exception of bedding. Microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster. Lamp, light and Tv! I stayed in a hob pod for two. It was super clean and smelled lovely when I arrived. Couldn’t fault anything at all. Having no toilet or shower is hard work. But I coped. Toilet block was fine, served it’s purpose. Surrounding area is beautiful, the site is on the loch, with a National park opposite the road you arrive on. Killin village is very pretty. Nothing much there at all. Most shops seem to have closed or are closing, but guess that the economic climate. Would definitely come here again.

I can’t comment on the restaurant but the campsite allows groups of drunk young people to play loud music in to the night much to the annoyance of other campers who vented towards them. Earlier in the evening the warden could’ve stopped this by having a word but he turned a blind eye and there was no sign of a night warden. Night ruined!!!

We have not been camping for more than 10 years when we had a large family tent with all mod cons. Now keen hillwalkers we decided that camping was the best way to find accommodation for our walks. Cruachan campsite was a great place for the weekend. We had a lovely large flat pitch with electric hookup. The site although we were told was fully booked did not feel crowded and the ground were immaculate. The staff appear to make regular patrols around the site with is reassuring. The toilet facilities were perfectly adequate although maybe a bit of a spruce up an deep clean wouldn’t go amiss. We ate at the restaurant on both nights are were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and very reasonable prices. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel very much at home. We will definitely be making a return visit. Only issue we had was making contact with the park in the first place to make my booking. I made numerous attempts to call and sent an email with my request which is still unanswered but on the whole it was great

Great wee campsite lot of choice for pitches we have been here a few times camping and we once hired a static. ...restaurant well deserves a five star rating. The one thing that my self and wife have noticed is that the shower and toilet facilities in the camping area the wooden building are in need of a wee upgrade. Although water is always hot. The floors and shower curtains are A WEE BIT TIRED. Also the mop and bucket for cleaning the floors after you have had a shower are dirty.! A GOOD DEEP CLEANING/upgrade would make the site five stars Pease don't get me wrong I love this place but a better cleaning regime In the shower and toilet block would make it outstanding.

We camped overnight at Crauchan Farm and also reserved a table at their restaurant. Really impressed by the site, lovely location on the edge of LochTay and very well laid out for campers in both tents and caravans. Also one of the best priced sites in the area but without the compromises, shower/toilet block was clean and for an additional charge there was also electric hook up.Highly recommend the restaurant, perhaps a little unconvincing from the outside (a wooden cabin) but we weren't disappointed-the staff (it's family run) were incredibly friendly and helpful and the menu was extensive, especially for a small restaurant. Restaurant quality food at pub prices and the atmosphere within was lovely too. Also surprised to see such a range of beers and whiskeys-definitely something to make the most of! Overall cannot fault either the campsite or most particularly the restaurant, we spend a wonderful evening here and were treated to brilliant Scottish produce cooked to perfection - without doubt a hidden gem :)

Went for dinner here on Saturday night, very busy little place and when we asked for a table we got asked if we had booked - this confused me somewhat as we had called a few weeks ago to book but were told they didn't take bookings. Anyways... The food was nice, we found that the locals were given a nicer welcome than the tourists from the management. However their saving grace was the husband & wife couple (from Australia/ nz) who were brilliant. The desserts were incredible. Possibly the largest meringue I have ever seen. Also good knowledge of whiskeys, with a good selection. We stayed along the road in the loch Tay highland lodges, but found this a much nicer place to eat than the lodge bistro. Also very reasonably priced.

We went to stay at Cruachan farm campsite for a few days, which is a brilliant campsite and well looked after, and in a great location. toilets and showers are very clean well maintained One morning we decided to go to the Restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant has a very homely and warming atmosphere, and the staff are all very friendly, chatty and cater to your every need. We both had the Scottish breakfast, which is very reasonably priced and generous on portion sizes, we were very impressed with the food, I'm no food critic but it was nice in my view. After we were chatting about the noisy neighbors, in the previous night. the farmers wife was not amused and said she would talk to them, We didn't hear a peep out of them for the rest of the holiday! So customer service is excellent at the campsite!!To sum up (My first visit to Scotland). Cruachan campsite is super, clean and would recommend to anyone and I will be back. A beautiful, tranquil setting, you could almost miss this delightful restuarant driving along the road from Killin towards Kenmore. Although it is open to casual customers and those who reside at the nearby campsite for evening meals I'd recommend booking ahead. We shared a starter of smoked haddock fish cakes with sweet chilli sauce which was delicious. Followed by excellent salmon course for my freind and I tried the mixed vegetable and nut option, not because I am a vegetarian, just because it appealed to my appetite and I wasn't disappointed. Very tasty with homemade pickle which complimented the dish. We rounded of the meal with a huge meringue bound by thick cream, topped with sliced strawberries. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.
