Crownhill Chinese Takeaway in Plymouth

I asked specifically to have the onion cooked in my curry dish, but it came out raw again, perhaps they struggle to understand, I really don't get it!? The curry sauce was made from powder and was B Awful!

Moved to the area over 10 years ago and wouldn’t go to any other Chinese! It’s always piping hot, delicious and friendly counter staff. If they had a mobile app to order food it would be even better but it’s worth the phone call!

This Chinese is by far the best in Plymouth and we’ve been going there for the past 5 years. Our last few orders hadn’t been as good as previous although last nights order seemed back to where it use to be. Good and quick service. Salt & pepper chips from here are cracking !! I had been disappointed recently but deffo back to standard last night. Can’t recommend enough!!

Ordered at 9pm this evening food eventually arrived at 10.45 pm and definitely not worth the wait, worst chinese I've had in years! Chips inedible, bbq sauce was so watered down it was disgusting! Rice was clumped together and not cooked properly. £37 went in the bin !Won't be ordering anything from here again!

Avoid crownhill takeaway in the carpark. We just had an absolute diabolical excuse for a meal ...curry was like wall paper paste, rice was mush and chips were awful. Oh and chicken balls ??? Small bits of chicken chunks abd a bag of loose batter ...total abomination

Ordered food at 6.05pm have 2 young girls, 4&9, still waiting for our food at 8.24pm.........rang twice - disgusting service! I understand busy, but when your told on the phone to expect an hour - an hour and a half, this takes the piss!

Not a good one very bad customer service order beef kung po and Thai sweet chilli king prawn and asked for a large rice the rice was a small the Thai sweet chilli was cold and no chilli in it and the beef kung-po was horrible the only this that got feed was the kitchen bin I will never recommend this take away

The food was incredible as the people were as well, they were nice and friendly and handled our food very carefully. Plus there food were also AMAZING with the spicy pepper chips being nicely filled to the brim would definitely recommend

ordered food at 7.11 and was told it could be up to 1.5hrs wait. Said that was ok as it is our regular chinese and worth waiting for. 1.45 hours later no food so i rung and was told food was all packed up waiting delivery. 25 minutes later food arrived although we live 5 mins away. On arrival spare ribs were really tough, usually falls off bone, but these needed cutting off with a knife. Special curry was watery and meat was cold. Even fried rice was gloopy. Only things eaten were prawn crackers and crispy seaweed. Dont know if there has been a change in staff or they were too busy to cope. Shall not be using again, waste of £30.

What a really tasty hidden gem. Delivery was close enough to the expected time as not to matter, but for standard Chinese food, it's definitely worth the wait

Hidden gem of the Plymouth! Excellent chinese food, it became our no.1 takeaway choice while we were working around the Plymouth. Well missed now and hard to beat for the taste and value for money. Highly recommend!

I have been using this takeaway for some time and usually have the food delivered.On several occasions the waiting time quoted is exceeded but last night was probably the worst.I phoned the order in at 1700 and asked for delivery at 1900, two hours notice to get the food to me. 1900 came and went, as did 1915 and 1930... I was picking up the phone at 1940 when the food finally appeared.Shocking service considering the notice given.I suspect it's because I paid when I ordered and once they have the money they no longer care. If I hadn't paid I'm sure the food would have been on time to avoid cancellation for late delivery.

Amazing salt and pepper wings and sweet & sour! Very hot when it was delivered and super quick delivery service.

Never had a bad Chinese delivery is brilliant food is allways hot and tasty and allways enjoys it deffinety recomend to anyone

Disappointing that they don’t use Free Range Eggs. Obviously saving money, but not thinking of good quality food for their Customers.

made a phone order, told come at 1830 turned up at 1825. was told will be 5-10 mins, 30 mins later (30 mins after we was told to be there) was told sorry gonna be another 5 mins. when eventually ready all we got was sorry no sorry but sorry is not good enough if given a time we food should be ready on time not 35 mins late. also food was not that good, it was ok but when spending £80 on a take out you expect it to be good. don't think we will be going back not happy!!!

My dad travels from town to use this Chinese he won't eat from another now. Chips are the best not dirty oil and the food is lovely 😋

The foods come shortly ( approximately 45- 50 minutes) and food tasty especially pineapple fitters, special fried rice, chips, and salt and pepper ribs. When the foods arrive is still hot and crispy, the desserts sauce and pineapple is separate put so that I can put the amount that I want. Strongly recommended to everyone! During the outbreak, the driver is wearing the mask and delivery the foods for me, it let me feel safe. Easy order by phone call. Delicious and perfect service,

Hace 35 años que pedimos a este chino, probamos otros pero ninguno se compara. . ¡Los platos son tan sabrosos y abundantes! ¡Platos de carne hechos con carne asada no procesada en rodajas finas como otras comidas para llevar! Siempre he tenido un buen servicio de entrega, generalmente más rápido que el tiempo que dan y siempre caliente, solo una pequeña crítica es que el cambio de fichas no es tan bueno, por lo que el 9/10, pero para las fichas sería 10/10.

Probé algunos platos chinos para llevar, pero siempre prefiero este. Siempre ordeno y pago por teléfono y luego conduzco para recoger 30/50 minutos más tarde, por lo que siempre estoy fresco y caliente.Mi plato favorito personal son los langostinos crujientes al estilo cantonés.Ver menú adjunto. Esperamos más de 1 hora y 45 minutos, el pedido llegó cálido (ish).Lamentablemente, la mayoría fue a la basura. . . extremadamente grasiento, sabor químico muy extraño a uno de los platos. Very nice . However not as nice as it used to be. Chicken balls were good but bbq sauce was too runny.

Pedí mi comida hace 2 horas. . . . y aun esperando! Me dijeron que sería poco más de una hora. . . llamó para preguntar dónde estaba la comida y le dijo que estaba en camino. . . ¡Hace 20 minutos! ! Sin disculpas, solo dije "¡ha estado ocupado!" ’. ¡Esta comida sabe mejor cuando llega!

Se le dijo que esperar 45 minutos. Tomó 1 hora 30. Cada pedacito de comida sabe horrible. Ido fuera de sabor No tengo idea de cómo esto es incluso una comida china. Si la comida sabe mal, odio pensar en cómo se ve su cocina. 1 calle y la última vez que ordene. 2 bocados y está en la papelera.

Been using this takeaway for more years than I can remember, always found the menu to be vast and varied, shop, clean to the highest of standards, staff, friendly and helpful, and food, excellent, never had a bad dish.Value for Money outlet who we think do s fine job, wouldn't go anywhere else locally!

Ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, egg fried rice and vegetable spring rolls.Tasted like an old ash tray. Spring rolls had no vegetables in. Came to nearly £12. Phoned up to complain, wouldn’t offer me a refund or replacement. Offered me a credit note but why would I go back after this experience. Would give it less than 1 if possible. AVOID!

I purchsed some crab soup from this so called takeaway. turned out to be crab sticks chopped up in what appeared to be salty glue two mouthfuls and threw away. Should be ashamed to call themselves a Chinese Takeaway.

Decided to give this place a go on my way home. Quite possibly the worst food I've ever tried to consume. 2 out of the 4 of us have had terrible stomach problems this evening, I'm sure it's not a coincidence. Give this one a miss!

Arrived home, about to dish out our food and noticed a bag of chips. Completely different order. Phoned them up was told our food order was indeed wrong, accepting they made an error, and that someone would be here in 60 minutes to collect food and give us correct order. Since we were going to the theatre this evening there wasn’t time to wait around. She then told us to drop the food in tomorrow and get a refund and not touch food. (It be ready for the bin by then) food we received was to spicy and be basically through away money. They would not give us a refund or give us or replace the food in a reasonable amount of time.

Food took two hours to arrive - an hour over the timescales given and food quality was poor - even the prawn crackers were burnt! Will definitely not be using again. Recommend southway cheese over this one any day!

The food was an hour late time 1 hour 30 min to come , it was cold when we got it there was stuff missing rang up and they said they didn’t charge us for it I would definitely not recommend !!!!!!!!

Waited one hour forty minutes for delivery of takeaway. It was all cold when arrived so my husband phoned and said the prawn balls were cold but all of it was cold! The phone was put down on his call twice but they refunded the prawn balls money very shortly after to our door. Would not go there again on principle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but have to tell it as it is as of all my reviews are, this takeaway was awful pancake roll was thin and overdone, overcooked glutinous rice and chicken balls still with raw flour inside could not be bothered to take it back and complain just won't go there again, really gone downhill in crown hill!!!!

An average but efficient and friendly Chinese takeaway based in the car park at the back of the Morshead Road shops. Easy pick up. Predictable Brit preference standard Chinese choices. Prices average for Plymouth. Nothing out of the ordinary.
