Crown Restaurant in Southend-on-Sea

After finishing work at 4am finding places to eat are slim to none. However The Crown was open so I thought I would give it a go. Chicken burgers, jalapeño poppers and chips. All freshly made and hot by the time I collected. I was also given extra chips which was a nice touch. With the standard of food and the opening hours I will be a frequent customer!

Food never even turned up when said it has been delivered

for the time of morning the food was delicious and delivery man was polite and friendly

Unbearably spicy, gave us hiccups in one bite. Was not enjoyable and had to throw it in the bin and go hungry. Very disappointed and will never order from here again!

They can't even get order right,ordered 2 cans of Miranda orange with my order and instead they sent me 2 cans of Miranda strawberry,seriously no brain at all,last time ordered from there

Only place open late in Southend now. And i Enjoyed the kebab. And the fried chicken. Bloody cheap to. Kebab, piece of chicken & drink plus they gave me chips to. And all was under a tenner.

DO NOT ORDER! I ordered pizza, chocolate cake, chocolate donuts and an Oreo milkshake. Toppings on pizza were rare - undercooked! Pizza dough was undercooked not edible. Gave wrong milkshake flavour and chocolate donuts were frozen solid with ice still on them!

Last night me and friend ordered a Crown Special pizza with jalapeños on and we both had the runs and a bad stomach pains, I think this place does not wash their equipment or hands after being to the toilet it was really bad. Won’t be ordering from this place again and have lost our custom.

Shop was dirty and falling apart behind counter looked dirty waited 45 mins I. Store for food that was disgusting and tasless avacado was brown so clearly not fresh I don't think anywhere I. Southend has nice food

Great Staff Funny, Food is Freshly prepared so far we have tried The beef tacos which are very nice and well presented, Lamb Biriyani is flavoursome and the chicken curry was nice. We have collected and had a delivery at 2am and food was piping hot! also tried other items like their burgers which are also good and piri piri chicken too! Would recommend eating here and especially for late night they smash it out with there opening times!

Always delivered on time. Food great for price, and lots of it! Delivery driver is so polite. Great for late night orders and variety, especially if your family can't decide on one cuisine. I'd order more if it wasn't for my cholesterol 🤣. Always fantastic, keep doing what you're doing!

We usually go in for collections and is always absolutely amazing, the staff are very kind and happy. We ordered from just eat today and was just as nice as collecting hot, fast delivery too

Called this place 14 times as mt delivery took over an hour and half, no answer to any of my phone calls and sat up waiting for my food with no update on the just eat app.

My daughter and son in law ordered food for delivery at 02.36 and was told being delivered after many calls at 3 but food turned up at 06.36 Stone cold with the delivery driver banging on door waking up my neighbours as made dogs bark and neighbours dogs, been trying to sort this matter out and not replying to me or picking up there phone , so if anyone asked me what I reckon the delivery service is a joke

I had ordered a fair bit of food, it arrived and it tasted really good, the only thing is the bun is a little over cooked but other than that it was decent

Far too spicey, both meals had to be left uneaten. Delivery was on time although a long wait, wouldn't have minded the wait if the food was adequate

Always class food when I order from here

One FREIND had a chicken burrito other FREIND a beef burrito. I had cheese beef nachos and Mexican chicken and rice. OK. One FREIND ate the entire burrito in 5 minutes. Said "yea it was nice" the other said it was tasty but too hot for him. I ate some it was delicious but yes fairly spicy. Both not knowing about Mexican one not liking hot food. I found my nachos and chicken rice excellent. Not too greasy, satisfying. Wouldn't mind seeing maybe halal peperoni quesadillas availible.

I’d like to start of by saying that I’ve been to this place three times, as I believe leaving a review for a place after one visit isn’t fair, because they could be just having a bad day. However this place is certified shocking. There is no hygiene cautions. I saw a worker pick up a chicken fillet with his bare hands, then put some lettuce in the burger with his bare hands. He didn’t wash his hands either. I was shocked of how slow the service was I only wanted a Quarter Pounder Burger meal. I was in the store for 35 mins. After the painful wait I then received the food however it was below average, cold and tasteless. It really wasn’t good enough. I shan’t be visiting this place again. Management, pull your socks up! I will rate this takeaway a sad 3/10

Unbelievable value and quality

Unbelievably disgusting service!! Waited an hour and 20 minutes and my food didn’t arrive only for them to say “sorry for the delay your order will be with you shortly” another hour goes by waiting starving after a long shift at work and STILL NO FOOD they then tell me it’s been delivered!!! Which it hadn’t!!! I had called the restaurant 10 times and left my name and phone number for them to call me back but no answer and no phone call back! And when I requested my money back I receive this text message in the morning “The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We're really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. We hope you enjoyed your food."” I DIDNT EVEN GET MY ORDER! Disgusting! Don’t order from this place unless you want them to take your money for nothing in return!

Had a chicken kebab today and have to say.. worst one I had I asked for chilli sauce and it was smothered in teriyaki sauce with chili on the side this was a genuine mistake or it was covering up the over cooked chicken. I think I'll stear clear of the kebab here. But my friends meals did look very nice. My first experience wasn't great but I'll give it another shot and try something else.

Chicken was a bit chewy and greasy and the onion rings were just soggy pieces of batter but the chips were alright, but definitely worth going just to read the menu, I could not stop laughing at their “cabage and latus” “oniouns and mixed papers” and their infamous “chciken goujons”

The grilled chicken, Mexican rice, pizza and wings are really good. I’m not sure about the Mexican food, not the best. Service is reallly good.

Our wraps were awful the sauces was wrong and was so much put in it fell out into a puddle of mess Mine had a really hot sauce put in it that I could not eat it The chips were under cooked but also were hard like they had sat under heat light too long ordered through Uber eats last nite and could not put complaint on there It arrived late I only ate the chocolate cake will never eat there again was disgusting 🤮

The Mexican rice and chicken was a large container. Loads of chicken tasty rice. Chicken was buff. Beef quesilleda thingy was tasty and plentiful. Nice meal. I do recommend.

This restaurant is by far my favourite in southend 10/10 for food and 10/10 for the size of the meals and definitely 10/10 for the friendly staff especially . such lovely people I would definitely recommend this place .

Delivery driver was friendly and food was still hot when we received it. The Enchiladas looked like a burrito so we're not quite sure if that's how they're prepared of if we got the burrito my mistake? Unusual for Enchiladas to have rice inside too so I think we may have received the wrong item 😅 It was still enjoyed nonetheless.

Chicken burrito was really good. But the vegetables burrito had a load of plastic in it so was inedible :(

Revolting food. Worst decision ever to order from this place. I don't recommend it. Chicken burrito had a weird plastic-y aftertaste to it as well as the wrap having a horrible discoloured appearance similar to black mould on a damp wall. But the really nasty part of my order were the potato wedges: shredded meat had no flavour, and the wedges were overcooked with a BURNT taste. They went straight into a green food waste bag and into the Blue Bin. I called the restaurant to let them know what I thought of the food. The staff member didn't speak English very well, which made communication very difficult. He kept asking for one more chance but I had to explain: "No more chances. No more food. Waste of my time and money." I'm not expecting a refund... And that's the last time I try and support a new local business in the area! Next time, I will stick to the tried-and-trusted takeaways, or knock up something quickly at home.

Seems unfair to advertise them as empanadas when they are just cooked mincemeat in folded puff pastry. Also the pastry itself was undercooked and doughy. Please do yourself a favour and never order from here when other, much tastier, Mexican restaurants are available in the area. A vile experience. Only good thing was the Dr Pepper which thankfully they had no hand in producing.

Food was stone cold when it arrived

Order for the first time Today. The tacos was cold with very little meat on top and had a weird taste. The burrito had a horrible taste to it and wasn’t a burrito it soggy and flat with hardly any filling in it. The only thing that I could eat out of it all was the nachos. The rest went in the bin.

Worst experience and worst customer service ! I ve ordered 2 meals , they took the money for it but gave just the items itself. When I go back to tell them about they said didn t understand that I want meal ones and ask me for extra money. I asked them to write on paper the price that they asked for the items that gave me and result the prices for meal ones, so they did understand what I want and just try to cheat on me. For chicken doner they took the meat and put it on grill . So check the prices and what you receive when you go there . Not reccomend at all !!

The fried chicken tastes very clean, the value box you get good portions. The chicken coating could do with more flavour. My friend was impressed too and he's fussy.

Orded bit more than needed as meals can often be small, but this was not the case the restaurant did really well. The chicken strips were freshly battered and tasty, the fries where nice and all the food was really hot. My wife enjoyed the kebab saying best kebab she has had in years.

Very fast delivery. Service was great, driver was very nice. The nachos were delicious, burrito was amazing, beef was succulent and nicely cooked. chicken wrap was nice and flavorful and burger was great. The kebab was good too, only thing was the lamb doner was a little bit burnt other than that great food, would order again 100%
