This feels like what everyone would be doing on a Saturday night if Jane Austen won the war. On the one hand, you feel like you can walk in and scrape the mud off your boots and enjoy a hearty stew with a fitting pint of ale, and then on the other there is a menu with panko duck. They've done marvellous work, whoever decided to turn this into the focal point of the town through such an arcane combination of things, and it's always going to be tricky to find the right balance of those elements but, for now, it's a great little oasis outside if the city and one I'd love to come and have dinner sometime.

Oh dear, Blues kitchen what has happened to you ?!? Having been a fan of the Blues kitchen when they started out at the Lord Rosebury, the roast dinners they serve now are unrecognisable from those early days. Having had a bad roast last time out at the Rosebury , I thought I'd give the crown point a go. Roast sirloin- something seriously not right with this, it was tough, sinuous, tatseless and had a sheen to it, the only thing it had going for it was that it wasn't overcooked as it was at the Rosebury. Roast potatoes were really awful, rock hard, no crisp to the skin. Red cabbage, literally just that, no aromatics or seasoning, same goes for the leeks and cabbage. There was such little puree on the plate that I couldn't taste it. The carrot wasn't done how they used to, in stock then finished in the oven with a glaze, just a boiled carrot. The Yorkshire looked impressive, and wasn't bad, but.you could tell it had been frozen. And to finish off the gravey was awful, a stock cube in boiling water would of had more flavour. The pub is lovely, service was quick, although we didnt get asked if the meal was ok at any point. The love and attention to detail isnt there anymore and what made there roasts stand out from the rest has unfortunately been lost. I won't be returning or recommending my guests to go here for a roast in future. Shame

I really love visiting Crown Point Tavern. It’s always a great place to spend an afternoon/evening, and the courtyard garden and conservatory are so nice in the summer. Visited with a family party of 6. Our booked table wasn’t ready but we were offered another which was fine. Ordered drinks at the bar and took them to our table where we were supplied with menus. Asked if we were ready to order after about 2 to 3 minutes. We explained we would like more time to chat and drink first. This didn’t go down well with the petulant little waiter who warned our table would be required by others in an hour and 3 quarters. After about 10 mins a very nice waitress took our order. The food was quickly served, was excellent and enjoyed by the whole party. Then with a good 30 mins of our “allotted time” left another lady came and warned us our time was running out! We asked for the bill which was presented extremely quickly and we were asked how we would like to pay with hardly time to look at it first!! We paid and left. What a shame what could have been a very pleasant experience was spoilt by 2 people with no sense of customer service. There are lots of other places in Norwich which serve equally good food so I shall not return to Crown Point.

It is one of the best pubs in or around Norwich. Good drink selection with a particular favourite of mine, tiny rebels, easy living, on tap. The staff are very friendly and the food is brilliant. The court yard at the back of the pub is a litte oasis of calm. Make time in your life to go and have a roast here. It is the best roast I've ever had.

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how great this meal was. We were camping nearby and fancied a pub dinner but we had no idea what a fantastic dinner we were in for. Had been to visit Norwich for the day and knew we’d be calling in here as we wanted to get here having been to the Rosebery earlier this year. As with the Rosebery, the food was good and the staff there were very friendly. It was also a bonus to meet some of the locals and their pups. Really nice place to visit. The roaring fire was a bonus on what was a chilly day. Well be back.

My friends had the lamb dish, and I had the vegetarian red Thai curry. I’m very happy to write that the curry was fantastic. When we arrived there a few people eating out in the sunshine at the front of the pub, a few people in the pub, and some in the area out the back under the grapevines just having a glass of wine and chatting… A very relaxing, informal setting with quality food and service.

Going with a 4/5 today. What could have been better. Gravy in the Yorkshire pudding to keep it warm. It went cold quite quickly. Skin on the chicken could have been crispy. And the fat on the pork could've been rendered more. What was good. Everything else. And the extra cauliflower cheese. A very enjoyable roast by NR3 Blues Kitchen and I like the Crown Point Tavern, perhaps better then the Rosebery. Prices are creeping up though . Might have been £13 a few years back. Hey ho. Absolutely epic roast by Blues NR3!!! We had the pork, which was so tasty and just melted in the mouth. It was served with sausage stuffing, roast potatoes, carrot, broccoli, cabbage, braised red cabbage, a lovely fluffy Yorkshire pudding and a delicious red wine gravy. We ordered cauliflower cheese as a side, which was also superb. We had our eyes on dessert too, but we were so stuffed after the roast we had to pass. We'll just make sure we're extra hungry next time so we don't miss out again. All in all, one of the best roasts we've had in ages, I definitely recommend this place. Arrived for our booking of x 6 Met by a very friendly guy who welcomed us and said get drinks at the bar. It was nice that staff didnt seem put off by our screaming toddler. Our waitress arrived , seeming to have trouble with her outfit , which kept falling off ! Maybe not appropriate. A nice touch would be staff all wear a t-shirt .possibly advertising the place. Anyway down to the food. I honestly feel that other places do a sunday roast better. From the photo you will see that a fat jug of gravy and a monsterous oversized yorkshire take up half the plate Cutting down on key elements of the actual roast. Could be a ploy . There was plenty of meat, less amount of veg , and 3-4 roast potatoes that werent very roasted. Veg isnt very expensive really so more veg would be my point and serve the “ space taking “ gravy on the side. 4 of us had the beef and to be fair there was enough of it, my hubby had the chicken and sister had the vegetarian . Her plate didnt look that full

We visited for Sunday lunch and we sat outside because the conservatory was too hot. We ordered the Roast dinner ( pork for me and Beef for my other half) and Strawberry cheesecake. We sat close to the kitchen outside and could hear the microwave pinging every few minutes. The roast dinner was really average and did feel like a reheated microwave dinner. The pudding tasted like an aunt bessy and the meat tasted cheap. The strawberry cheesecake was a joke. The base was not hard biscuit. It was a soggy mess and the topping was strawberry jam to make a old dry cheesecake look better. We were really looking forward to this place but let us down and wont be returning sadly. It is quite expensive too £12.95 for main and dessert and don't think you had a choice not to have the two.

We have on two separate occasions attempted to book a table for our family here. We were shocked at the rudeness of the staff when informed that they do not accept children. I accept that some places do not like children in their establishment but perhaps it could be told to customers in a polite way.

Just lovely. Big portions, lovely flavours, fair prices. We will definitely return. Tucked away in Trowse village, this lovely pub is well worth a visit.

Went here on a date night during a Friday. We didn’t make any previous reservations but were lucky to get a table on arrival and the place was busy. Would definitely recommend the food here specially the beef ribs. Will definitely go back for more. The service can be a bit slow as the place was busy but other than that everything else was good.

Absolutely lovely food. Had the seafood sharer between four. This was more than plenty as a starter. Cannot fault it. The pate was amazing. I had the belly pork off the special board. Omg it was sublime. Other meals in the party were steak and kidney pudding, apparently was equally lovely. Catch of the day so big it couldn't be finished. And the fourth person had the crab and prawn stuffed place. Which looked lovely and if available next time we visit I would like to hive it a go. The service was attentive, professional but friendly. It got very busy not only in the restaurant but carpark too. So would recommend booking and not leaving it to late in the evening. Summary This is a great place for great food at a reasonable price . Can't wait to revisit
