Great pub, only dropped in to meet a friend, all seemed very friendly and welcoming, a locals pub that is open to all so great! Looked like there was a good selection of beer plenty of soft drinks, easy parking so good meeting spot! Great find.

Three of us and a baby called in, on spec, on the way home from Bath, and couldn’t have been made more welcome. The barmaid alerted the kitchen staff, who stayed late to produce three well-presented and appetising meals at incredibly low prices, then the landlord went out of his way to find things to entertain the baby. An example of how all pubs should be run.

Lovely country pub with a hidden gem of a beer garden at the back! The staff were lovely and it was such a treat to enjoy a cold cider in the beer garden on a hot summers day.

The landlord Gill I believe has a liking for employing underage bar maids for his low life drinking buddies to lear at. Certainly not an establishment for ladies nor descent people. On a lighter note, so a 5☆ really, whilst all the degenerates go to this beer hole, they stay away from nice places. Not sure what the barmaid really do here but the food certainly sucks..

We’ve passed this place many times but have never gone in. It looked quite a good place to stop on a family bike ride as there was a seating area to the front. Unfortunately it soon became apparent it was one of those places where visitors weren’t very welcome. There was a very rowdy group of men sat at the next table, appeared quite drunk and were very sweary. The barman didn’t seem very interested when we made a comment so we decided to leave. Won’t be going back!

Even though there are still restrictions the welcome was warm and genuine. The food was very good and freshly cooked. The garden was clean and tidy with plenty of seating and I could see lighting for those late evening eats out. There was free WiFi outside and a big blackboard for the kids (big and small) to scribble on. Altogether a very nice experience, we will be back.

An Asylum Seeker landing at Dover could not have been happier than The Dragon and myself when we “Landed” at the Crown Inn today. The joy of my first draft pint (or two) on Licensed Premises this year was further enhanced by an excellent alfresco lunch in the Beer Garden of this delightful Hostelry. Staff and Management could not have been more welcoming and the Fayre was both excellent and reasonably priced. It was with great reluctance that I recrossed the Severn to the Temperance Dictatorship of the Drakefuhrer Thank you all at the Crown for making our visit to Somerset so enjoyable. I went in a week ago for a beer. Good beer and ended chatting with the locals. All friendly. A nice break on a hot cycle ride. I spoke to Richard, the landlord, about coming back sometime for an evening meal and asked did he have gluten free options on the menu as my wife is a coeliac. He said yes, always something, they even had a separate fryer for gluten free chips, but phone to check first what was on the menu for a particular night. He understood as he said he was wheat intolerant. So today I phoned, ready to visit this evening, asked about gluten free and heard him say no, they don't do it as there is no call for it.

Went with a group of 10 for lunch to this small pub in West Harptree which has recently been redecorated. All the meals were cooked fresh and came up piping hot. Several of the group had the Steak & Kidney pie which all described as wonderful. Fish & chips were excellent as was the beautiful Somerset ham egg and chips and Fish Pie. With all priced at £9.95 and very realistic drink prices this must be the best value in the Chew Valley. Keep it up Richard.

Called in halfway around a long Sunday walk. We were strangers to the area and had planned our walk so that we could stop at this pub, halfway round, for some light refreshment. We, four of us, were cold, wet and really looking forward to something to eat. When we arrived, we saw that the sign said Sunday lunch; we were eating out that evening, so didn't want a full meal. There were a few in, but only a couple eating at the time, so not busy. We asked a lady behind the bar, whom we assumed was the landlady, if they were doing any other food, sandwiches etc. Not a smile, no welcome, just one word answer NO and then walked away. In view of the rude, unfriendly reaction, we didn't feel able to pursue it any further.....like could we have a starter from the lunch menu? We had to satisfy ourselves with a bag of crisps each. A previous review said that they were trying to expand the business. Seems like a strange way to go about it. The young chap, who was left to serve us, was friendly and pleasant. To say the pub is in such an attractive village, with some lovely buildings around, it was totally without warmth, any character or atmosphere. It was bright, clean and tidy, but appeared very white and almost 'clinical'. Needless to say, we shall not return and i'm sorry, but if I am to go on first impressions, I cannot recommend this place

So we walked into the pub and asked about cake, it was a long drive from Devon so was looking forward to cake & hot chocolate (green & blacks offered too) Well the cake offering was some shop bought cakes at £2.50 each (ouch) no hot chocolate! I needed to be in West Harptree needed to sit children were tired. So £7.50 for 2 bags of mini cheddars 1 cake and 2 waters!!! OUCH I’d said to the barman that was steep for that, he explained that the owner was trying to expand the business, I said how disappointed I was but was left little choice. He then told me he’d over charged me £2.50! Could have been made to be so nice, quaint village. Total disappointment The bar man was apologetic.

Good friendly pub. Richard, the landlord has transformed the place from the stinking pit that it once was into a place that appeals to better clientele and not six fingered yokels who think that venturing into Bristol is a big deal and that Cribbs Causeway is like Las Vegas. Well done Richard. Your Pizzas are good too.

I work close by so I like to go to b block on my lunch break, I have 30 minutes to have lunch so I sometimes pre order my food, I ordered food at half 11 to be ready for 12, I came down and they forgot to prepare my pre order, they then put this on and gave my order to someone else! I waited over 15 minutes for the food. I however thought this was a one off, I went back in on another day and walked in to an empty place so I was pleased it wouldn’t take long! They forgot to put my order on again! Waited over 10 minutes as I thought they may notice as I could see the poor women on the till was training someone, but no they forgot again and then tried to put it on after 20 minutes of waiting, I then asked for a refund which was done no questions asked, the only good thing out of it was the customer service from the lady on the till who was very apologetic, being a trained chef I do think the service is terrible, there is more chatting than serving. I will not be back to b block any time soon

When we arrived we were seated in the basement in a damp, crowded corner, the whole place smelt very strange, which was very unpleasant, we decided to leave before we had even ordered any drinks, I made the waitress aware of this and she tried to offer us an alternative, to which I politely declined, she then decided to chase us up the stairs trying to offer more alternatives, it has gone downhill since our last visit
