We came in for a family lunch and were really well looked after by the busy staff but the food was really poor. The roast was generous but lacked flavour, watery gravy, lumpy mash and a flat Yorkshire pudding were all below par. The chicken burger was dry and overcooked and the kids sausages tasted very odd, not sure where the sausages are from but they had a strong game like flavour even though I was assured they were pork. Such a shame as the pub is great and the staff were friendly

We have been here a few times over the years and never really thought that much of it. We came here recently and the place has had a refresh and the food menu is good. We ate here and got two roast dinners, turkey and beef. Both meals were pleasant, good meat and veg - beef was pink which is the way I like it. Couple of critique points..parsnips need to be roasted for longer, mash needs more butter and seasoning (use a ricer) and I personally prefer larger roast potatoes instead of the small cut up ones. All in all not a bad roast.

This pub used to be a "Boddies 2 ran by two old dears but now owned and is a Free House, but the beers are a little jaded sometimes , Maybe not enough custom to keep things fresh. The landlord hopes that the new Bus staion may perk up trade. I hope so and then I may enjoy livelier ale. aprt from taht the decor is tired but warm and comfy. Worth a visit,J

Called into the Crown yesterday afternoon, the new management team have rejuvenated the pub quite dramatically since our last visit to the premises under the previous management. We ordered a couple of starters, scotch egg, smoked mackerel, my wife ordered a fish cake main meal with a side of chips and a salad. The service was tremendous, young staff, attentive and amusing, gave us good advice on our choices which we found very helpful. The food was frankly excellent and the chips (albeit an odd bronze colour) were out of this world. The czech lager was great and well kept which made for a thouroughly enjoyable experience. Still work to do though, which the landlord readily accepted and informed us on our last visit that this was an ongoing project, The menu probably needs ‘tweaking’ but on the whole, a very pleasant exlerience and a place we will be visiting much more in future. The staff from the assistant manager down were absolutely impeccable and deserve all the credit making our visit such a pleasure! Many thanks!

The atmosphere and staff were really nice, but the Sunday was the worst one I have ever had. The meat was impossible to chew and the gravy was like water. When they asked and we said the meat was very tough they went to the kitchen but never came back to address the issue or apologise which was disappointing

We happened on this pub whilst waiting to visit the Plaza, it was Derby day and NO tv, what, OK landlord put the radio on for us, so ok not many customers but very friendly , a step back in time. Nice to be in a traditional pub, wooden floors , dog walking around, sounds poor but was actually very enjoyable.

The Crown has always been an excellent pub for beer and serves an excellent range of real ales, always very well kept. We popped in for a quick pint and one of their tasty pork pies but found that they have started serving food again at lunchtime. Not only that, it was advertised as Caribbean and English food. The menu has five mains - a couple of curries (including goat!), Jerk Chicken, Stew Chicken and a Caribbean Burger. There are also seven different pizzas. We went for the Snack Menu and had a fried dumpling, one of the Jerk chicken patties, and spicy chicken wings, which all came with a small pot of coleslaw. A veritable small feast for £4.30! There were other types of dumpling and patties, which we will be trying next time, along with one of the curries. The curries come as a small portion for £4 or a large for £7. The Crown has always been a favourite - this different food definitely adds to the attraction. Sadly the food is only served weekdays, and only from noon to 2pm, but maybe when the trade picks up, as it certainly deserves to, they may extend to the weekend? The beers we had were also absolutely perfect as always. A very pleasant lunch and beers indeed.

Have visited this establishment several times and have never been disappointed. The choice of Ales is great and they are well kept. It can sometimes be difficult to find a seat on a Friday/Saturday night, but its well worth a visit.

This is an ex Boddies house now free of tie. Real ales. cider and lagers. newspapers , small rooms and subdued lighting make this a refuge from the outer world. In summer there are rock bands and during the week folk music. Sometimes food during the day too. However the beer quality is slowly going down the pan. Rating as average during the last few visits. maybe the landlord needs to get a grip with it ? ?

Great traditional pub right under the viaduct, all sorts of beers and excellent draught lagers. Guinness not exactly the best I've tasted. All in all well worth a visit.

I am not a great beer drinker any more but when I was invited to have a drink at The Crown is was quite impossible not to find something to suit your taste. This is a traditional pub with a prime location under the imposing structure of the Stockport Viaduct. It was busy when I visited but quiet friendly and welcoming.

A great Sunday lunch. Been there 3 times recently and each visit has been lovely. It's a traditional british pub with a separate dining room. Service is very friendly and at just less than a tenner for two enormous portions (starter and main or main and pud) it's fantastic value.

Ordered food ,stated no fish as a serious allergy. Then received a platter of fish. Dangerous miss communication. The concerns were shrugged off as a misunderstanding.

Terrible. Don’t go. Why? Because it’s never been open when I’ve been! Just walked out there today with my daughter, and we hoped to have lunch and drinks. But it was shut, despite stating it’s open on a Tuesday from noon. This is the THIRD time I’ve been (all different days and times) and it was shut each time. I’ve checked the website and socials and there’s no indication they’re shut. Terrible service for such a remote pub.
