Went to celebrate my sons birthday and the front desk staff were great and placed us in a nice quite place. But unfortunately the roast dinners were terrible the roast potatoes were rubbish, the Yorkshire puddings were re-heated and the mash was lumpy. Gravey was not pleasant at all but the Turkey was great. Drinks were great. Don't think the fish and chips my little one had was brilliant he said the batter wasn't like the picture shown on the tv screen, the fish batter wasn't crispy at all overall a disappointment with food, but service and drinks were great.

Staff are friendly. Food is ok. Pub was empty when we arrived at 1pm & only 1 other tables filled when we left after 3pm. We had a gift voucher but the company had not been in touch to confirm with the pub so they were unaware of the offer we had. They were helpful but we never received the full voucher value. Not the fault of the pub staff. Roadworks nearby caused problems & delays. Despite the lovely staff we would not return for food.

Absolutely Terrible Experience for Drivers at Mexicanos** I had the misfortune of picking up an order from The Crown , and I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. If you're a driver, be prepared to wait an excruciating 30-35 minutes for your order, no matter how simple it is. The staff seemed completely disorganized and indifferent to the fact that time is money for delivery drivers. To make matters worse, the order I waited for was incorrect, forcing me to spend even more time getting it fixed. The overall lack of professionalism and respect for drivers at The Crown is appalling. I will never be picking up from this place again, and I advise other drivers to steer clear if they value their time and sanity.

Just a boozer. Went here today, it's certainly no gastro pub, but the staff are nice. Beer garden at the rear is suitable for extra seating. Lots of the tables sticky with old beer spillage, could do with a clean, but like I say, is just a boozer, so standard customers probably not that fussed. The childrens menu here is really well priced and the food was actually very good.

I used to live in Egham for 25 yrs and The Crown was my GoTo pub. Back in Egham for the day and dropped in for lunch and a beer or two. Honestly, one of the best burgers (Monterey Jack & Bacon Burger) I've had in a very long time and I've been to some fancy burger place in my time. Not over cooked and very juicy. Really excellent. Very friendly staff; nothing is too much trouble. Roberto and Noah deserve A special mention. A great 'local', and excellent for a visit, if you're just passing through. One of my fave pubs. Other half had the Sausage and Mash and both agreed the best part was the mash which definitely was frozen. Friends had the nachos aswell which came out STONE cold and the cheapest looking ever. Wetherspoons nachos>>. Note: all food eaten because of skipping breakfast that day. Moretti was decent but if I ever came back it will only be for beers. Worst dining experience we have had for a very long time. My burger was OK, but my partners salad with chicken and bacon was a disaster. The small amount of salad was limp and old looking and I would be surprised if there was even half a chicken breat and have a rasher of bacon. We complained and my partner chose 2 starters instead, I wish we hadn't bothered. The prawn and calamari tasted like the fat it was fried in and was overcooked to a very crisp dark brown. The chicken fillets were like 2 pieces of carboard that were overcooked in some places and undercooked in other. I had to asked for my money back and the most disappointing thing was the manager did not seem to care and certainly did not apologise. Avoid.

Below par dining experience. Saturday afternoon. First 2 choices on the menu weren’t available, so ordered the fish and chips, which promoted a bizarre laughter from the bartender. Still no idea what he found funny but it was very strange to say the least. Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, more crispy batter than fish! Poorly presented as well. Not even Wetherspoons quality but double the price. Ordered the sharing platter which was actually very good, but this was served at the same time as the mains. Server didn’t ask whether we wanted this served as a starter, which I perhaps wrongly assumed it would be. Pasta dish prepared cold by the lazy chef who couldn’t even be bothered to check if it was hot. Very poor service considering we were the only ones in there at the time. Atmosphere completely non existent and staff who really couldn’t care less, rather chat amongst themselves rather than taking a few seconds of their wasted time to ask if we enjoyed the meal. After this meal I went to the Red Lion a few yards down the high street, which was a far better experience. A lot of the customers there saying similar things about how the Crown had gone downhill over the years. If you are ever in Egham I would definitely recommend this place over the Crown.

Wouldn’t even give it one star. Guy behind the bar was so miserable and really unhospitable. From start to finish we had to do everything ourselves - including sourcing menus. We weren’t even shown to our table, we were told to go and find the one with our name on. The roast was also extemely disappointing. Looked like it had been microwaved twice and sat under a hot plate for about an hour - and it was still cold!!! The roast option offered ‘unlimited roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings and gravy’. We weren’t offered extra, but we wouldn’t have wanted it anyway because it was so bad. I come from a hospitality background myself and there is absolutely no excuse for the extremely poor service we received. Will not be coming back and certainly wouldn’t reccomend.

I feel to rate a 1* experience would be unkind, but I cannot say many good things about this pub. I could not recommend it to anyone. It seems a general consensus around the area that this is not a popular place, especially as I live and work in the area. Everybody who is local, and has been for a while, will always describe the crown negatively. You do not hear good things. It is evident the beer lines do not get cleaned very often, as none of the beers I have tasted taste as they should (I have worked pubs for a couple of years). I feel for the staff, truly. Some of them are rather kind; some seem they have no time for you at all. The pub has gone seriously downhill, as everyone did seem to love the crown at one point. If I were visiting the area, I would visit another pub - such as the red lion, the white lion, or the kings arms - where staff are kind, and you shall have a nice experience. I don't like slating any place, but this genuinely is the most dire pub I have ever visited... I've visited a few times, to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's no good.

Today I got charged twice for the same order at the Crown in Egham. After I placed our food order at the bar I went back to our table when the bartender yelled across the room that my card was declined. I went back with my wife's card and paid again. When I checked my bank account on my Bank's app I saw that the transaction went through and was not decline. When I told the manager he seemed to know about it and said "don't worry it'll bounce back"! When I pressed him about why this has happened, he said the machine sometimes malfunctions but I shouldn't worry because it will "bounce back" in 4 or 5 days! When I asked for the charges to be reversed for that transaction, he said that he could not do that. I feel as if I was taken advantage of and I am thinking of lodging a formal complaint because this behavior does not appear to be very honest. The transaction went through, the manger seemed to know and did not say anything. It should have been reversed right away as it's the Crown's fault.

Really disappointing. Went with 6 of us for Christmas lunch (booked over a week ago with numbers) and was sorely disappointed. Each of us ordered within minutes of each other, two meals (steak sandwiches) came quickly and were good, but the rest of the meals took over 30 mins to prepare, did not come with the items listed, and some did not come at all! One salad that was ordered was meant to come with mangetout, tenderstem broccoli, rocket, roasted tomatoes etc. and, for £15, came with just iceberg lettuce, salad dressing, a singular raw beef tomato and slice (singular) of red onion topped with a few piece of falafel. When we complained the manager took it back to get replated with the correct items, however came back where a handful of rocket, red onion and some pickle had been chucked on top. After 45 minutes, 2 meals did not arrive at all. We were refunded for the salad meal and 2 meals that did not come, but were met with the excuse that a walk-in table at the same time as us of 7 people was the reason for the delay and issues with the food. Huge shame as had been a real favourite and now won't be going back.

What has happened to this place?? Been a firm favourite for years as our office is down the road but went there today for our Christmas lunch get together and it was awful. We were a pre-booked table of 6 and all ordered one after the other. Two meals came out and were eaten by the time the next one arrived (which was nothing like the description on the menu so after complaining it was taken back into the kitchen only to reappear with a bunch of Rocket dumped on top.) Then one more meal arrived. Myself and one other were still waiting for our food at this point whilst meals for a different table were being served. Surely you're supposed to do one table at a time and bring all the food out together?? We gave up in the end and asked for refunds. Avoid unless you have 3 hours for lunch, it wasn't even busy in there!!

Just had a very disappointing meal at the Crown and feel somewhat robbed if I’m honest. Paid £64 for a couple drinks, couple of very basic burgers which sounded delicious on the menu but were macdonalds at very best, a handful of under cooked chips, and a couple of desserts which came with barely a mouthful of ice cream. We said we weren’t happy with the main courses & if they would give us a full scoop of ice cream to which they point blank refused. The standard of food here has taken a dive since we’ve lived in Egham and of course the price has rocketed. Will not be returning.

The only okay food was the burgers. 2 of us had a roast dinner, the potatoes looked anaemic but was so hard. Roast said it came with carrots it didn't, barley any gravey and the gravey was like water. Hunters chicken did not tast like bbq it also looked like red sauce, the chicken was flat, peas was rock hard and poison was small. The deserts were awful. The s'mors chocolate brownie had no s'mors factors it was just a tiny flat brownie with a scoop of icecream. The Sunday was In a glass that make you think it's a lot but it's like 3/4 mouth fulls and the raspberry sauce on top was horrible we all agreed on that. I had to ask for everything every time I had to get up and go to the bar for drinks, to order main, to order desert, to get the bill, I even ended up going up to the bar to pay. The staff I feel sorry for there isn't enough of them but at the same time it wasn't busy. On the other hand, my sister ordered a quinoa salad which was missing the quinoa entirely and ordered some grilled chicken as an add on which looked boiled - not even close to grilled. We had also ordered 3 pork Sunday lunches and here it is...powder mash potatoes which was disgusting,Yesterdays roast potatoes warmed up dry and horrible hard caggabe mind you the broccoli was hot and cooked as for the rest very luke warm..we also had to wait an extreme length of time before they finally served us our meal ,prior to reminding them that we had ordered our meal nearly an hr ago.The pub was empty ,which I can understand why.oh and the staff members we couldnt help but notice the look of impatience on there faces not to mention the sighs towards us.Since the changing over of hands in this pub clearly displays deterioration of the characteristics which leaves me saddened.

Popped in here on a Sunday afternoon to try their roast. Place was very quiet and had the pick of where to sit. Decided to go for the topside beef. Food came out in decent time and was well presented and tasted very good. Unfortunately for me, i didnt notice on the menu when ordering that you can add extra meat which i probably would have done if id known i would only get a small portion (in my opinion). I did notice however that they do unlimited top-up with yorkshires and roast potatoes and gravy!! Overall enjoyed my visit and staff were friendly and welcoming. Thank you!

I use the Crown regularly usually just for a pint I had their Sunday Roast for lunch. I ordered the Roast Beef which was delicious. I had the Kiddies size portion. I am glad that I did as the portions are massive. I have always found the staff to be so friendly and helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. The Pub also caters for dogs as well as they have a doggy treat menu. I will definitely be going back to the Crown again soon.

Food was poor by any standards. We weren’t looking for gourmet standards, just decent pub grub. 3 of us had the mash which was inedible. The food area was was dirty with empty glasses stacked all over the show. This is obviously a locals pub which is fair enough. But I would have expected the eating area at least to be a more respectable and clean.

Meeting family members for a catch up and had drinks/light lunch. It was fairly quiet whilst we were there with only a handful of people in the pub over lunchtime.

I used to go to The Crown on a regular basis when I worked down the road and have always rated it highly...I do feel it has gone down hill though...new owners I believe...went today with my partner for a drink and lunch and ordered a sandwich. The bread was green and mouldy. I was disappointed by this and the young lady who served us and corrected it was very accommodating and almost looked embarrassed....she offered us complimentary drinks..There were also cigarette buts on the floor under the table in the outsiemde area...and I for one can't bear that especially when I am eating...thanks to the young lady though for her service....

I cannot comment on the food as I haven't had it. The young man on the bar was pleasant and chatty. I have not found this pub particularly atmospheric, but at the same time, you can just relax and have a drink.i feel more could be made of it with more events.

We booked a table for 6.30 pm. Unfortunately we left without eating as they had run out of everything we wanted to order from the menu.

First Papa John’s pizza experience and we were not disappointed! Absolutely amazing pizza and fantastic team working hard there. Chap who served us was so patient and helpful and ensured we got the best deals/value for money. Extremely reasonably priced and our order fed all 4 of us with more than enough leftover for tomorrow’s lunch too!! Vegan options aplenty and the vegan hot dog & jackfruit pepperoni toppings were delicious! We heard it was the best pizza ever and we definitely agree! Will highly recommend getting a collection from the Addlestone team and can’t wait to return next time we visit as it was a highlight of our holiday! Thank you!!

Poor, nothing more than average. Visited midweek, and impressed with both the reasonably priced set lunch menu and the accompanying service. Living locally, decided to visit on a Sunday, which was a complete contrast to our midweek experience. Portions was small, namely, the scallop starter and roast pork main. However, what was most disappointing is that both the pork and beef roast (albeit beef reasonably sized) was cold. Convinced the Yorkshire puddings are merely placed on plates by FoH staff without being reheated prior to being served. Appreciate commercial kitchens can be short of room at times, particularly on a Sunday- however, this is not an excuse for cold food, especially considering the presence of large Rational oven in the kitchen. Both bar staff were remarkably hospitable and leaps and bounds better than their esteemed colleagues in the kitchen.

Great beer. You can see the pizza you’ve ordered sitting in the freezer 10 mins prior. Also, I’ve heard better bands busking in Staines high street than the band that played on the 7th September.
