Amazing flavours, very high quality food, and the staff are nothing short of charming. So polite and attentive. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We came in for the Sunday buffet and had a lovely time. The place was busy, but only reassuringly so. Staff were kind and attentive, and took good care of my wife who has specific but severe allergies. There were some families there with young kids so it got a bit loud from them at times, but you can't really fault them for that, and the staff weren't afraid to (politely) ask them to quite down, which they did for the most part. The buffet experience was different to most places; they simply allow you to order rounds of food of a highly varied menu, as many times as you want. This format actually ended up making more sense than the usual free-for-all, and I'm convinced now it's the better way. The food was quick and so wonderfully fresh, crispy and hot. The portions were reasonable, and we were safe in the knowledge we could order more if wanted. This ultimately led to a much better dining experience and basically no food waste. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes either a wide assortment or a high volume of outstanding Chinese food. Truly a Succulent Chinese Meal for the ages. P.s. even if you don't usually go for tofu, take this opportunity to try the fried bean curd. Easily the best thing I had today, I will dream of it tonight.

Absolutely loved the food, the entertainment was brilliant and the staff joined in with the dancing making it a very enjoyable evening. I will certainly be back.

This was the worst meal I have ever had and I simply will never return to this restaurant. We ordered the £48 ahead set meal. The starters were ok if a little over cooked. The lobster course was inedible as there was no lobster in the carcass. It’s as is the meat was taken out for another dish and just the shell served to us in a cold sauce. God knows we looked for the meat but it was not there. The lobster was cut up into small pieces as if taken from a bag in the freezer. We put the pieces back together but it didn’t make a lobster. The staff and manager did nothing about this, using the excuse that they didn’t go to market to choose the lobster but their supplier did so they had no control over the product. Yes you did, you refuse the delivery, but they didn’t. The next course had fillet steak in a sauce, a rice dish, a prawn and asparagus dish and a pak Choi dish. Well the fillet steak was the cheapest cut of beef with so much fat in it, served cold with onion, the prawn and asparagus dish was just stone cold. The rice was served cold with wilted brown cabbage leaves on top of it. The pak Choi was raw. The staff and manager again did nothing about this. We could hear other tables in the restaurant complaining about the food and basically leaving it. There was no control in the restaurant by the staff. A table of four in the corner were shouting loudly about giving oral sex to a taxi driver with the waitress joining in as if this was funny and acceptable. It was not. At this point we just got up and put our coats on to leave. Although we could not eat the lobster or the main course no discount was offered for the appalling food that was served. So we paid our £143 bill for two people who had only managed to eat a starter and informed the owner they should be ashamed of their selves for serving such poor quality inedible food. I really hope we do not come down with food poisoning which is highly likely judging by the standard of the food. Recommendation is to sack the chef and recruit one that understands food safety legislation and equally knows how to cook. This restaurant is just a modern day highwayman robbing poor innocent people of their hard earned cash. I would suggest everyone avoids this restaurant if you value your health and hard earned cash.

We visited last Sunday, a table of 7 who hadn't booked. They were able to seat us and we had fantastic service and food. Everything was delicious and would highly recommend.

The food was average, was treated like we were going to run off when we went for a cigarette, which was very offensive, sorry won't be returning 😔

A brilliant family restaurant, always a great atmosphere, amazing fresh food, and great service !! a classic, and clean chinese that is a family favourite. definitely recommend the Sunday Buffet, as well as the Elvis Presley or Dolly Parton night👌

Mid range restaurant decor needs attention service good portions very slim but ok

Haven't been in a while, we went in earlydoors, all tasted stale and reheated from last night. Even the crackers were all chewy. The spare ribs just gonna call em spare grizzle. We will not be returning, Ever...... Front of house staff, lovely as always 👌 Chefs 👎

Just had the most amazing meal. We were a table of 9, staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and lots of it. Great value for money with the buffet menu.

Incredibly quick service, the food tasted fresh and very flavourful, the price is great, staff are friendly and efficient, their decorations are stunning, and it looks as if they treat their goldfish properly.

We have dined in and gotten take away. The food is lovely. Not like other Chinese food I’ve had. It’s tasty and not greasy. The portions are generous. It’s not super cheap but you get what you pay for. It’s the only Chinese restaurant I will eat in. The service is very good when eating in and the tahr away area is always busy, which speaks volumes.

Went to the Elvis night last night with my family has the best night ever the food was great, the entertainer was fabulous and at the end of the night the manager came out with a glass of wine and partied with us ❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait for the next Elvis night in December I would highly recommend this Chinese

I just phoned to place an order. I have never been spoken to so rudely. It was a big order and it was as if Iit was too much trouble. Because I couldn’t understand when she read the order back I got told off and reminded they are very busy ! The lady was so rude I put the phone down and will now buy elsewhere from now on.

Nothing nice to say to be honest! On arrival, car park was heaving and I thought this is a good sign, only to discover overpriced, ok-ish food, service bare minimum despite the added service charge, won't return, wouldn't recommend. Totally lacking all round, very disappointing.

Fabulous idea all you can eat but with waitress service and reasonably priced, the food was really good the service absolutely brilliant the best restaurant we have been in this year. 8 of us round the table we wasn't rushed or hassled at any point in the 3 hours we were there. Congratulations crown City you've got it spot on.

Superb food, especially the noodle dishes and fierce prawns

Seem to have changed management a few times since I first went here. Most recent visit much better than the previous couple, back to similar standard to my first visit several years ago. Good was good, service started well but dropped off as the restaurant got busier, although remained friendly and helpful throughout. Overall a good visit.

I used to love this place I haven't had chines for a good while let's say about 3 months an when I come to eating the food everything has changed for example the rice is now the most plain rice I've ever eaten but it used to be so good I don't know if they've changed hands but they've definitely changed the recipe

Ordered a takeaway and it's as good as you could expect for a local Chinese restaurant, the best this side of Maidstone. Ribs in particular were nice and meaty. They lose a * because we ordered Duck in Plum and received Duck in Ginger and Spring Onions (which was a shame, but still delicious and I nearly ordered it anyway) - everything else was spot on.

Really good chinese meal. A large group of ladies and they coped very well. Not sure on the portion sizes for the main as they seemed a bit small. Would come again.

Takeaway food was ready on time, veey delicious, fresh and packaged well and stayed hot on my delayed one hour journey home due to traffic. The chef is a cut above your usual takeaway chefs.

went to collect a takeaway on Saturday night, was told 7.45. Me and loads others was left waiting for an hour for the food. People who’s orders were after Mine got there’s before mine and others waiting even longer then me. Girl behind bar told me she couldn’t go and ask the chefs how long it would be just for another member of staff to then tell me it would be a couple of minutes. 15 minutes later still nothing. Food was nice but nothing is worth waiting an hour after your Allotted time for. If you’re going to prioritise the restaurant turn takeaways off.

Very good take away but a bit expensive

Singapore noodles are our family favourite. The noodles here are very nice.

Had a takeaway order (not the first!) and once again enjoyed excellent food. Always tasty, plus they now use thicker-than-normal plastic containers so no spillage (plus we use them to store freezer food later!) Strongly recommended 👍🏻

No compassion. Seriously! My partner broke down outside this restaurant on his way home from work this evening and desperate for a wee and the lady wouldn't let him use the loo. He's returned home after 3 hours. He explained to the lady what had happened and that the aa were on there way but would be atleast an hour. Some restaurants just don't care and won't lend a hand to someone in need. Such a shame. We will no longer be customers to this restaurant.

"Fingernail in the food, tried to cover it up saying it was lemongrass!" AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. It was an awful experience. As soon as we turned up, before even being fully seated the waitress was adamant we needed to give her the drinks order. When we said what we wanted they didn't have the drink available, and then the other options weren't available either. The service was strange, they made you feel obliged to eat whatever you were given before being able to move on the the "next round" of courses. One of the meals had a broken fingernail in it, as in from more than likely the chefs dirty fingernail. I tried to be polite and say I've got a nail in my food discretely, yer they came back and insulted my intelligence by saying it was lemongrass. I didn't realise you get lemongrass in the shape and size of a dirty fingernail! It's outrageous and they didn't care, they didn't offer a refund or any compensation. This place needs to be shut down, it's literally disgusting.

I've been to a few Chinese restaurants in my time, but crown city takes the top spot, service was excellent, food was absolutely amazing, will 100% return.!

Not impressed with food quality and we found a NAIL in our food today! Disgusting. PS what an insult post such a commitment below my review by a restaurant after delivering such a weird service food and BLACK nail in one of our main courses which ruined our appetite and we didn't eat non on main courses! They obviously saw it and said to my partner it was lemongrass 😆 🤣 😂 They think people are IDIOTS, never tasted a good meal so we don't know the quality and being so DEFENSIVE in such a disgusting way says it all!!!! Food delicious and hot my favourite was the lemon chicken and the shredded chilli beef

Forgot half our order, not from around the area, so travelled back to get the order and wasnt given the missing items or a refund, very poor especially as it was a birthday treat. RUINED.

Really disappointing meal on 16/10/22. We were a party of 9 (5 adults, 4 children) as a birthday celebration. One of the children was feeling very unwell after the second course so that family of 4 had to leave. I explained this to the staff but was told they would still be charged full price, even though they didn't have the main course. I had to ask to order our main courses as no one came to take our order. They then added a service charge of £22 to my bill which I asked them to remove, which they did but were clearly not happy about it. The restaurant was not full by any means so they were not losing any money on our table being booked but the other family leaving. We arrived at 5.30pm and left at 7.45pm as the service was so slow. We won't be returning.

Absolutely delicious food last night. Could not fault it. Duck was delicious, Crispy Beef was so beautifully cooked. Everything tasted so fresh and yum! Cocktails were so tasty. Our server was very nice and so attentive. My friend had a lovely birthday meal and really enjoyed herself, so Thanks Crown City!

Charging £11 for under 5 year olds each for the buffet! Total disgrace.

First time at crown city. Will not return. Staff very rude and I felt very rushed with everything the restaurant is outdated they had the air con blasting directly on me. I asked 4 times for them to switch it off they ignored me I was shaking and sneezing! I just wanted to leave! Then the owner got stroppy. you have to eat everything on the plates before being allowed to order again or table ! I was pregnant so I could only.have chicken my partner had to challenge the other dishes alone by the time we got to mains we was full. Food wasnt even that great. As soon as we sat down we could over here over tables complaining. Waste of.money Thai orchid in maidstone high street 1000 times better in every aspect! Avoid over priced to top it off.

Ruined our Father’s Day meal. I booked six weeks ago stating I needed a high chair as have an eight month old child who would be attending. I was told I would definitely have one as I booked with one. Arrived, no high chair and baby would have to sit on our laps while we eat (not ideal but fine) then drinks took over 25 minutes to come, we had starters then nothing else for over an hour. Room was massively over crowded and I understand on event days it’s a longer wait but the staff other than the two young workers at the bar, were rude. Manager was argumentative when I stated we were leaving after starters as no high chair and a long wait for food she stated I pay over £50 full price for two drinks and 4 starters baring in mind the Sunday deal is £21 per person, I asked if she could be fair considering they didn’t provide what we asked for on booking and she became rude, I paid in full but will never forget my partners first Father’s Day being stuck in a corner of an over crowded room, people waiting in the halls for takeaway orders and to be seated as well as starters coming out cold, the drinks being warm, staff not wanting to be there and being told to hold my child on my lap while I eat and no alternative even though I booked a high chair six weeks in advance!

Beautiful food, didn't eat in, did takeaway instead, have used them many times and each time food has been excellent, not greasy like some Chinese can be.

On entry staff could be more welcoming and greet with a smile but this was not the case...food was nice apart from 1 dish we asked for never arrived also was given something we hadn't asked for...shame can't take food away as the dish we didn't receive we could of taken home...not sure if to return as been to better places

After eating many great Chinese meals around the country, I have been really disappointed with the take away offerings in and around Maidstone until by chance tried Crown City this evening. A truly fabulous meal, full of flavour and definately not the usual stoge that I have had from other take aways. Would very much reccomend this place and will definately be my go to from now on. Looking forward to eating in the restaurant also when the world resumes normality.

Awful meal. Chicken tasted awful as if old and reheated and rubbery. Duck was not crispy and was all congealed. All starters tasted frozen and were very oily. Staff were ok but slight intimidating as kept watching us. Not work the money it was and even had to pay over £5 in service charge. Zero stars is if was an option. Avoid if you want quality.

The first time that I have been to this restaurant. My sister was treating me to a late Christmas present. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. Will definitely go again x

My favourite food with very personal service

First time there . Very good experience. Will go for my next Chinese for sure . Photo was halfway through the main course.

Don't get me wrong the food is good. However, the service is poor. They messed up my order a couple of months ago forgetting all the sauces and not giving us any prawn crackers (which from my experience every Chinese restaurant ever has included). I rang the restaurant to complain about their mistake as we only realised when we got home. They promised us credit for our meal as an apology for their mistake. When I then went to reorder tonight I was told by the lady on the phone that they only have a £3 credit. When I contested this (as this isn't what was originally promised) I was told that the restaurant never gives credit. There are so many Chinese restaurants in the area that personally I would recommend trying any of them before Crown City purely because of their poor customer service.

Lovely food. Very aggressive owners to their staff. One young guy was berated in front of the dining area. The restaurant went silent when a screaming member of staff could be heard in the kitchen. Quite amusing as a customer but you wouldn't want to work there!

Do not judge a book by its cover. Really clean inside with nice staff and very nice food.

Very busy but staff and food excellent

Good atmosphere, good service, clean and tidy. Appetizers were great but the mains lacks spice. Very mild. Make sure your order actually has spice or else the meal might be bland if you are used to your spice.

The food is always good here, but the service? The manager was so rude it was unbelievable! The way she speaks with her staff is disgusting and quite embarrassing for them. To top it all due to their phone going all the time when we tried to pay by card they had to wait for the phone to stop ringing to take payment and it took about 15 minutes and several attempts to be able to pay. The manager's response? "You need to be patient!" We won't be going there again.

Food was good as well as service but found price of set meal for 2 bit steep for food served 2 x cokes an 2 small beers total spend 72.40 would have had more for my money if I had a take away service. Sorry will not come again. If Buffet eat as much as you like was on we would have had more for the money spent I can expect the price charged for three people but not 2 no sweet were included in meal.

Disappointing experience and waste of money! I asked extra mushrooms and less chicken in my soup so I received NO chicken and few massive chunks of cheap mushrooms and tasteless soup, no seasoning or salt. Ribs were pretty dry. Very little sauce at the bottom which was cheap out of packet, very runny/watery and didn't taste good at all. Chilli Shredded beef was disappointing and made with similar sauce like ribs which tasted weird. Vegetable rice as you see had very little of few tiny pieces of veg and mainly rice only, also very bland lacking seasoning. Guy at the desk checked receipt few times before handing my order and managed to still mess it up - they didn't give me my drink regardless me actually paying extra. Banana fritters were soggy and no syrup whatsoever. Food was bad, service bad, I asked for cutlery and I only got forks so I had nothing for soup. Very disappointing and complete waste of money, NEVER again. 👎👎🤙

So looked forward to our takeaway, but very disappointed.the curry sauce in the chicken curry was very runny , very little taste in the sweet and sour prawn. We had a side order of Chrispie seaweed we couldn't eat it just chewed into a hard ball.

An excellent Chinese restaurant and takeaway.

Disgusting attitude from the manager after I questioned my dishes missing some ingredients. I was told to collect the takeaway at a certain time, I arrived and had to wait 20 minutes extra for the food. Very disappointed with the service. Will not be returning, will also be leaving reviews on local social media pages.

I have been dining in at Crown City and ordering takeaway from the restaurant for the past 15 years and generally, with the odd exception, the food and service have been of a good standard. However, this evening I collected my last takeaway and will never return to Crown City. I placed an order over the phone and patiently waited an hour before collecting my food as understandably Saturday nights are busy. I arrived at the restaurant to collect my takeaway and presented my card for payment. The assistant behind the counter said it was cash only. I only had limited cash on my person. Who wants to withdraw cash from cash machines and handle it during a COVID-19 pandemic? Why did they not tell me that it was cash only when I ordered over the phone? Net result. I went on a 5 mile round trip to find a cash machine in service and returned half an hour to collect my cold food. The lemon chicken was chewy, practically inedible and the chow mein and onions were badly burnt. They were happy to take my cash upon my return to collect the food and could not have cared less about the inconvenience that they had caused me as a result of their lack of communication at the point of their order. Yes, they will always carry on and have their loyal customers (as most local restaurants do) but loyalty is lost on this business. I would send them an invoice for the fuel but the loss of 3 takeaways a month for the next few decades is a sufficient fine in itself. Despicable them.

crown city was very busy on the 3rd Oct 2020,I rang at 6:15 to order a takeaway ,they said come in an 1 hour which i did,you have to stand out side. when i arrived at 7:15 i noticed an disabled lady waiting for her Chinese. when 30 mins waiting outside ,i was concerned for the lady as she had been waiting longer than me,so i asked her how long have you been waiting ,she just said i have already asked the waitress about my order and she told her to wait [in a rude manner],she did not want to ask again ,so i ask the waitress on her behalf ,for the waitress to say she will have to wait [RUDE] when another 5 mins had passed the disabled lady Chinese order came ,IT WAS JUST 1 DISH i was horrified to think she had to wait all that time for 1 item ,disgusting ,i am so disgusted that i shall not be using Crown city again.

Service charge was 10% which worked out to be 21 pounds which didn't expect when the bill was £230 pounds any way

Nice place, good food and friendly service

I really didn’t enjoy the experience of eating here. The food was OK but expensive. The waitress mistook one dish we ordered which wasn’t an issue but when we mentioned it she changed her attitude towards and we received poor service afterwards.

Was waiting over an hour past the collection time finally got the food and it was luke warm. Quite small portions for the money too. Not going back.
