Crown and Sceptre in City of London, Westminster

Went with family to eat lunch, and frankly wasn’t expecting too much as it seemed it was just a “local”. What a surprise, delightful staff who were friendly and chatty. The menu isn’t huge but enough choice. U had the sea bass, which was perfectly cooked crisp skin moist flesh and delicious vegetable and sauce. The venue itself has real character and hasn’t lost its historical charm. Well worth a visit, though be warned toilets are down some very steep stairs

Had few bottles of Rioja with my girl and the guy Sai kept serving us with a big smile, and was brilliant. Love the way he spoke to us and how he loved being a bartender

had a delightful experience at Crown and Sceptre pub. The chorizo sausages and Schnitzel were a delicious, complemented perfectly by the Passionfruit Martini. Sai’s warm welcome and friendly service added to the overall charm. A must-visit for exceptional quality and hospitality!

A late-Victorian pub, street corner pub, mosaics on the floor in places and a moulded ceiling. Traditional wood-panelled interior, chandelier. Comprehensive selection of draft beers and excellent food menue. Delicious food, prompt and amicable service by Boris. Very clean! Impressive for central London pub.

Popped in for lunch over the bank holiday. Food was excellent. A lovely bar in the middle of Fitzrovia. A great pint of Guinness as well!

Beautiful central London pub just off the beaten track but very close to Oxford Street. The team were very friendly and the food we had was delicious. Wendy was a great help with recommending some of the drinks to us. Will definitely be back again soon.

This pub is just perfect for your casual work drinks or meeting up with friends. We were greeted by big smiles of the team and loved the amount of choices from the taps! Food was delicious, too!

Terrible food, terrible service - disorganised and rude. Food was slow, not as described on the menu, when I complained there was no willingness to refund me or offer something new.

Bad food, even worse service and attitude from the supervisor. All food received was cold, and did not arrive together despite ordering it that way. The staff clearly don't know what they are doing, delivering food to the wrong people and tables. The 'king prawns' is not king prawns, we didn't eat it and asked for a refund and were told "there is no definition of king prawns', which is simply not true. The Supervisor was rude and patronising, refused to offer a refund for the dish or for the service charge, which was automatically charged at the bar before the food is even served! A joke, especially when the service is so haphazard. Do not bother, much nicer and cheaper pubs nearby.

Although the service was swift, the roast beef excellent and accompanying gravy served on the side was good, the other elements were very poor indeed: flat Yorkshire pudding, although looked freshly made had not risen properly and was not crispy as it should be; the unrecognisable vegetables underneath were very bland apart from a dominating taste of leek; but worst of all completely inedible potatoes that were some hybrid between boiled and roasted, served tepid, tasted like they'd been inadequately microwaved after being cooked the day before. I've just moved in nearby and dine out a lot, not impressed especially coated to the quality of other local establishments we've tried.

We recently moved to the area and from day 1 the Crown&Sceptre Fitzrovia was our home away from home. Largely down to the team! I have to call out Sai in particular - he welcomes everyone with the biggest most genuine smile and truly cares about your experience. He’s a gem!

In love with those flower pots. This is one of the most premium property in Central. Must try are the Cheese Burger, Calamari and those large nachos. Sai made sure my friends were comfortable with what to choose and served us with a big smile, not to forget his great hairstyle and his smile when we complemented.

We came in the afternoon before we were able to check in to our Airbnb. We had a terrible time trying to get on their difficult wifi and the blond woman at the bar was unfriendly and not helpful. The other younger girl seemed nicer but didn’t seem to be able to communicate well with the customers. Either that or she was immensely shy - not ideal for a pub! The entire time we sat there no one ever came up to us to ask if we wanted another drink (which we would have!) nor did the two staff seem to even bother to notice we were still there! The woman sitting down a bit from us had a Sunday Roast that did look impressive - so there’s that! Won’t return here next time in London.

Lovely pub in Marylebone/Fitzrovia. Good atmosphere and would be good for big groups/celebrations. Prices are also very reasonable considering the location.

Good vibe, real pub place. Good for a few before dinner but unfortunately the fish and chip was not as per expectations. Fish was definitely not fresh an not very well cooked and crispy. Was not well all the night. Just saying

£7.50 for a pint of Neck Oil! I appreciate London prices are high, but £7.50 for one beer? The 2 Hilton Hotels - locally - only charge between £6.50 & £7.00. Won't be back at those prices.

This was a team event - we booked an area for 30 people and ordered the buffet menu (both meat and vegetarian/vegan) - everything went very smoothly. The service was great and we had a wonderful, relaxed evening.

What a fantastic space in the heart of soho. We'll spwced out seating so it was never too crowded and the staff were exceptionally lovely. Drinks weren't cheap but it's central London so what can you do!

The Sunday Roast at the Crown & Sceptre is a triumph! Perfectly cooked beef and vegetables with heavenly Yorkshire Puddings. We added a side of cheesy cauliflower and extra Yorkys. Am in post roast heaven!

Pub al que fuimos a desayunar dos veces, no en días seguidos, ya que el desayuno del Hotel (London Visitor hotel) no era de nuestro agrado. Aunque el Pub es más caro, al menos podíamos decidir que desayunar y no comer solo los restos que dejaban los otros inquilinos que desayunaban en los primeros 30-40 minutos del horario de desayuno (si, si, no reponían lo que se iba acabando). De este hotel tengo otra entrada en TripAdvisor.

I read some not so good reviews so I had some little suspicion about the place. But finally we were here twice. We lived some short distance away. Great beer, nice food , lovely stuff. Typical British atmosphere.

Visited this place for a Sunday roast, wasn’t to busy, staff very friendly and welcoming and allows well behaved dogs, onto the food itself Im afraid I wasn’t impressed, had the roast beef which was a generous portion, the veg was undercooked, tiny roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding was ok, the portion as a whole for the price wasn’t generous, service was good though and quick

I was meeting a friend in Fitzrovia and he fancied a pub lunch, being Sunday he wanted traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. He suggested the Crown and Sceptre because it’s a long established Victorian pub, un-gentrified and still true to its past and, presumably, with decades experience of providing traditional British fare. First thing first, all the staff were friendly and helpful and welcoming exactly what you would expect in a long established pub. The food was another story. I’m suspicious of food that arrives too quickly, it usually means it’s just being kept warm somewhere and it did arrive quickly. The roast beef tasted like beef than had been kept warm for sometime to the extent it looked well done and tasted dry. The roast potatoes, of which there weren’t many, had no crunch and were slightly undercooked. The parsnip (and I’m guessing it was parsnip) was near raw, roasting sweetens parsnips, these tasted bitter. The other vegetables were ok. The gravy bland, matching an equally unexciting Yorkshire pudding. In all a real let down. I remember thinking that any tourist coming to this pub for a traditional roast lunch would leave wondering what all the fuss was about. I would have given the place a poor rating but upped it because the staff were welcoming and helpful, they were the incentive to return for a drink, sadly not for the food

No me siento inclinado a seguir explicando, así de grosero y conmocionado estamos. Quizás el gerente pueda consultar con su personal de turno en ese momento.

Shocking treatment from a pub we have visited many times. On arrival for evening drinks after a hard days work, an unfriendly female bar staffer asked for ID for one of our group who was clearly over age. She had ID but not one of the ones they’d accept, but what Londoner carries a passport around with them?! Looking like a soft drinks evening for one of our number, we were then told that we we aren’t even allowed in the bar area, by which they meant inside. A male staffer then came over, was equally unfriendly and borderline aggressive after we told him that it was ridiculous, that we were leaving and wouldn’t come back. We didn’t swear or raise our voices but he demanded for us to ‘come back here, you started it, come back here’. It was shocking. He lot his rag at the suggestion that we wouldn’t be back. Although we use this pub frequently we didn’t recognise either of the bar staff so are mystified.

Visited with colleagues for our Xmas meal. Very decent food and excellent beers. Very efficient and friendly staff

I go here every Friday I won't go anywhere else, the staff are lovely and it has a such a good atmosphere! If your ever near Kensington Olympia you must pop in. Also only place around with with nice outdoor heated area

We stopped off on the way to Hyde Park on Saturday for a quick bite to eat and drinks. Great menu served quickly - great range of drinks and beers. Two of us shared three bites from the back snacks menu (sausage roll, pork pie and scotch egg - very tasty, and quite modern in presentation and taste). I had a nice hoppy IPA and my wife a rose wine. Its in the centre of Fitzrovia, so its expected to be pricey but the sharing snack was only £11. Very mixed clientele welcomed with open arms (it was Pride march). Food arrived very fast.

My family of four went at 4 pm for a snack and a beer. We ordered a meal and a beer for my 17 yr old according to the law exactly which allows 16 and 17 yr olds in the company of adults to order beer or cider with a meal. The bartender checked his id and we thought we were fine. Ten minutes later, he checks it again and says it's against the law as he is not 18. And to top it off, the fish and chips we ordered we're soggy. This place is terrible. I can only assume they don't like tourists, Americans or interracial people

I went to this pub with a group of my friends for my friend’s 30th and the guy behind the bar refused to serve one of our friends because he was ‘too drunk’ even though he wasn’t at all and wasn’t doing a thing wrong! When we queried it they said that they thought we were all drunk and should leave. It was bizarre! We all had to leave and find another place feeling we had been unfairly treated. I would not go to this pub considering the ridiculous and horrible treatment we received.

This pub had a larger diner menu than many of the pubs that we have visited, The food the service and the atmosphere were quite good. We will dine here again.

We went to this pub as it was near our hotel. Friendly staff, not crowded on Monday night. We took a burger and a beer, all good. Prices were also reasonable. All in all, very convenient.

Nuestra primera noche en Londres que caminamos por la calle de nuestro hotel para este pub y un restaurante. Mi esposa y yo pedimos un par de pintas y el pescado y patatas fritas. La comida era buena y la gran selección de cervezas. Personal amable y buen servicio.

Tipico locale british con una cucina altrettanto tipica (gustosa ma non certo salutare per ingredienti). Forse più adatto per uno snack (ottimo assortimento di proposte) piuttosto che per un pranzo. Buona scelta di birre, gin, e un servizio efficiente. Sarebbe da considerarsi piuttosto caro per un'italiano,come la maggiorparte dei posti di Londra, ma è un costo da mettere in conto per chi vuole mangiare decentemente a Londra.

Queríamos tener una pinta de cerveza con mi esposa, pero nos quedamos allí por una buena cena. Estilo auténtico bar de Londres - que merece la pena visitar! :)

Great pub in a fantastic location with staff who now how to serve beer. Despite the pub's popularity, each time I have attended the establishment I have been served good, fizzy beer, quickly and always managed to get a table despite the numbers in the house! Can't comment on the food, yet - but the management and beer is bloody good. We will be back.

Met up with some friends as they work across the street. Love the pictures and quirky cameras above the bar. Friendly staff always smiling. Food was great cheese and bacon burger with a nice cold pint. Will come again

Truly terrible. Tried the Sunday Roast - beef dry and overcooked, hard to cut let alone eat; Yorkshire pudding that surely came out of a packet; carrots not al dente but almost raw. The lemon tart with raspberries was biscuit pastry topped with custard and what tasted like marmalade and came without raspberries that were "". There was no coffee because the machine was broken. The only up side was the service from a pleasant and seemingly embarrassed waitress.

We were a large group and had been asked to send our orders in advance, so one would have expected that the food to have been served as ordered and not to have the serving staff shouting over the noise of the pub with whatever dish was in their hand. Some meals arrived that were not ordered and there was no offer of an explanation or apology. The food was of average quality and some dishes were inedible,I complained about my meal and it was replaced with another equally poor dish of chewy inedible meat. Rather embarrassing for our hosts who were over from Sweden. I would not recommend.

We love this pub for it's decor and atmosphere. Just a 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Oxford St, it's perfect for a stop off point and rest your feet. Never eaten here but the food looks and smells delicious.

My partner and I stopped here for some food and drink after some shopping. We've eaten here before but we won't again. The portions were ridiculously small and I was hungry again after an hour. I'm not sure how anyone in their kitchen can think this will satisfy an adults appetite. Eat elsewhere is my advice.

Where to start. Beer was flat. Chicken was rubber and then deep fried. Burger had no bacon. Server made us write our own order. Do not come unless you have good company, fortunately we did. Never again!

Beautiful and original London pub decor helps create a great atmosphere. However, the food was extremely poor. The starters were good, especially the black pudding. However, the ox cheek appeared to have been microwaved (tell tale lingering steam coming off the dish), chicken schnitzel impossible to cut with a knife, fish over cooked and dry. To top it off the waitress made a mistake with the order and one person was left without a main course. Rather than apologise she accused the person of not having ordered one! Maybe it is normally much better, as it was quite busy?

I had been in this place a couple of times before for after work drinks and had no complaints at all and after asking them to put an area aside for me along with food for my guests they have gone up even further in my estimations. We had a quiet spot at the back of the bar which otherwise was packed and friendly as usual.We had room for around 18 seated quests as requested and the food arrived on time. We had white bait, chicken skewers, mushroom mini sandwiches, cheese fritters, smoked haddock, wild rice and belinis and it was wonderful. My guests, many of whom had travelled from Scotland for the event, were all very happy with the food and the friendly staff.We had a great night and had little trouble getting served at the bar.All in all I was over the moon to have my 40th Birthday with the Crown and Sceptre and I will definitely be back again soon and would absolutely recommend it for a small function.Cheers guys. We popped in for some late lunch and a drink food was ok fish and chips a little soggy but ok and the service was good but £50 a little steep for 2x fish n chips and bottle of house red
