Absolute waste of time, website says open at midday but was not open on Thursday or Friday, the least they do is change the the web to let people know not to waste time arriving.

We looked up local dog friendly places and the Crown and Anchor came up. We came in for Sunday lunch (Easter Sunday) and we were surprised that we were the only people eating here, on Easter Sunday! We were very disappointed with the whole experience. There was a fair choice of drinks, and the girl behind the bar was friendly, but the food side was a let down. They had a main menu on the wall, with some food choices, burgers, steak, pie of the day, as well as other options. There was no description of what the dishes came with- eg, the board just said “Lamb shank” and nothing else so I had to ask what it came with. The board could’ve done with being more detailed about what each meal came with. There was also a small menu board which had some extra options on, like roasts. No starters were mentioned. Not even sure if they had any! When our food came, the barmaid didn’t tell me the plate was very hot and I nearly dropped it when I took it from her. She should definitely be warning people about that. My husband said his potatoes on his roast weren’t cooked properly, although they looked crispy on the outside. We asked for garlic bread for a side and when it came, it was a cold baguette which had been cut up and some strange cold butter put on it! (Possibly garlic butter) The desserts were ok, but again, no menu to show what there was, so we had to ask, and when they came, they were in pots that were very small. When we tried to split the bill at the end, the barmaid then said there was a problem with the card machine, and that she could only accept cash. We didn’t have any but luckily the shop opposite did Cashback, so we were able to get some. All in all a very disappointing visit.

We stayed in the River Bank Guest House on the other side of the bridge over the Great Ouse river. We popped across the bridge to the pub to eat and have drinks. Excellent food, and loads of parking. You can sit outside on the bank of the river. Very dog friendly

This place now has new owners who are making a number of nice changes. They are very friendly too. We have been there quite a few times now for either drinks, meals or often both. They do a very good carvery on a Sunday. We have sampled a number of items from their menu, I particularly enjoyed the prawn curry and my other half really loves the burgers they do. Portions are quite generous also. We love their homemade desserts especially the crumble and the caramel apple pie. They have plans for a beer garden which will be a great addition.

Since Chris and Chloe have taken over the pub has been A great friendly inviting place. Personally we look forward to the weekend when we know we'll see new found friends there. Good food and drinks and a family friendly place. Continuous improvements to decor and facilities being made since the previous landlord left it to ruin which is also great to see.

Totally unreliable service. 1st visit on a Saturday lunchtime - only open because a local had phoned and requested a pint! Foolishly we booked a table for an evening meal - on arrival was told there was no food being served that night! Tried - for the last time - to have a pint on Sunday lunchtime and found a note stuck on the door saying the pub was closed. We will not be bothering again!

Landlord was overall disrespectful towards staff and customers. He seemed angry to do even the slightest of tasks such as pouring a pint. If it wasn’t for the young woman behind the bar pouring me a proper pint, would’ve thrown it away and left without paying! Food choices were dreadful, the sandwiches that Nikki had offered for me were the best things I had seen, but for the price they were definitely not worth paying, and the poor excuse of a “pub” he likes to call it was dismissing and depressing,. Toilets were clean despite what I’ve heard. If you see this, thank you Nikki! Landlord completely ruined my experience, rude, depressing and doesn’t know how to run a pub.

Popped in on passing this typical English old school pub, friendly welcome, covid regulations in place with sanitiser available. good choice on the pumps but sadly there was no hot food available on the day we visited so cannot comment on that. Quiet lunchtime but that isn't surprising with all the current regulations. Looks to have recently had an exterior facelift. Would return if in the area again.

As we were staying in the village whilst on holiday we called in for a drink earlier in the week hoping to have something to eat but there was no food on at the time. The lady behind the bar said to come back on Friday as they would be serving food, so we did. The menu was small but varied : Fish and chips, ham and eggs, chicken pie, steak pie, chilli con carne and a chicken curry. We had fish and chips and a steak pie and chips. The meal was lovely , cooked fresh and large portions too. The lady behind the bar was pleasant and the young man who brought our food was very polite and well mannered. All in all a good visit. Give it a try!

We arrived here on a Saturday lunchtime on foot, despite the notice outside stating the pub had a Tuesday to Saturday menu, we were informed that there was no food available. Luckily there was a shop opposite and the barman allowed us to eat our sandwich in the pub. The only real ale available was Greene King IPA, rather insipid. All in all a disappointing lunchtime.

We arranged to visit this local village pub as a group of friends to partake in a pre-xmas celebration meal and we were not disappointed. We chose from a selection of three courses plus coffee/tea and mints. This included one our party's special dietary requestsand nothing was too much trouble for the landlord Robert and his staff. The portions were generous with a varied choice of veg. all at under £12 per. head with drinks at reasonable price too. We had an excellent evening and will all be definitely returning in the New Year.

Nunca he tenido una mala comida. Una visita que vale la pena! Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera que me encuentro!

Quick visit for a drink on a Tuesday evening.Greeted by friendly staff. Dogs warmly welcomed. They owners have 2 dogs of their own who are free to wonder around the pub, but didn't bother us at all. We didn't eat here but they do do food. We had visited on Monday but we where told on our visit today that they close on Mondays, the owner was very apologetic about this. Would visit again and probably try the food next time.

We found this pub because of traffic congestion at King’s Lynn, and we decided to come off the A47. It is situated in a quiet location, with its own car park.We visited it on Friday lunchtime. It was quite quiet, with prompt friendly service. There was good vegetarian choice. Since I was driving quite a long distance, I would have welcomed an alcohol-free lager, but unfortunately that wasn’t available, and I settled for mineral water – but that wasn’t too much of a hardship. We would certainly note this place again when travelling on this route.

We have just moved into the area and have been made more then welcome in the crown & anchor. We came for a meal with our 5 children and the food was exceptional for the price! If you are looking for a laid back experience with or without children then this is the place to come. The background fire place is a relaxing area to eat and/or drink in, I would recommend this to all my friends and family for an up and coming pub/restaurant! We will be back soon!

As a local I have visited here many times, although due to work commitments I have never tried the carvery on a Sunday until now. Its very reasonably priced both for regular or large and the portions of meat are huge! All types of meat were well cooked and fresh vegetables, stuffing, Yorkshires and cuts of meat are regularly brought out. Looking forward to many more visits here from now on!

Iif you are looking for good honest home cooked food in a real pub with atmosphere, friendly locals and staff and management that could do no more, then look no further. Travelled 20 miles today on a recommendation for a good sunday roast with real home made gravy and yorkshire puds and meat to die for. Everything cooked perfectly. Then to top it all off ,great beer. If only i had found this before. moving away from the area but if ever back this is where i will come and eat with friends and family for sure. Give it a try. If the weather is good their is seating all along the river and no busy traffic.

My wife and myself went here for a Sunday Lunch, and we had been recommended to try a meal here, it was a Carvery which we opted to have, and we must say what a wholesome meal we were presented with, the Chef was a very cheerful person and he was pleased that we complimented him on his Service to us. We shall certainly be going back again, and will be telling our circle of friends what a good meal they serve here.

We went in one day for a nice meal, me and my fiancé orderd a milkshake, hers was cold and mine was warm. I orderd a panini, and when it arrived, the server dropped it on the table and instead of offering a new one they went "oops" and put it back on the plate. Also the salad is lettuce and tomatoes, thats it
