Amazing value for money We were a group of 15 the service was absolutely on point all meals (starter, main and dessert) were served at the same time no one was left waiting for their food. The food served was cooked perfectly and tasted divine. Would highly recommend

Another absolutely incredible meal at Jones's Bistro at The Cross Keys Burbage. Sea bass cooked to perfection in a tomato and caper sauce. Definitely one of the best meals I have ever had.

It’s our favourite local restaurant, the food is always spot on, everything is freshly prepared. It’s always busy but service has been excellent. We can never wait until our next visit. Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately, I can't give more than one star as we never actually got served. This was the first time we'd visited this pub, and I'm not sure if I'd want to go back based on the lack of service. We asked at the bar about food and were told to find a table and that a waitress would be over with menus. A waitress soon appeared with menus in her hand and asked if we wanted food, to which we replied that we did. She then asked if we'd booked, and we said we hadn't. She then muttered something about asking the chef if it was OK. We were then left waiting. One of the bar staff, who could see us still waiting, asked if we'd received our menus, and we told him that the waitress had gone to ask the chef if it was OK. We saw the waitress several times walk up and down, but not once did she come back to us. Another couple next to us seemed to be waiting a while to have their order taken. They did eventually get seen to. However, by this time, we'd been waiting for quite a while without finding out if we could actually order food and then didn't want another wait to actually place an order, so we decided to leave.

Brilliant pub for socialising with family and friends alike, the bistro in residence in the kitchen also makes it ideal for a meal out while still enjoying proper pub atmosphere and the drinks that go along with it. All of the bar staff are friendly and you can’t fault the quality of the drinks they serve.

We were disappointed when visiting the Cross Keys today for lunch. The food was very good but the service was very poor. We waited a long time after ordering for our food to be served, again a long wait for our main to be cleared away and then only after having to get the attention of the waitress. We planned on ordering a dessert but again after waiting ages for the waitress to return to take our order we decided to pass on the dessert and requested the bill instead.

What a great pub. Hadn't been in a long while and now they have food back up and running. The meals were excellent and worth a visit. The service was excellent and the pub was very clean and tidy. I really enjoyed the visit and will be back for food again

Fantastic Sunday lunch again from Jones’s Bistro Burbage at The Cross Keys. Generous portions of meat (including lamb - no extra cost!), lovely veg, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds. Extra gravy is served without asking; I like mine swimming so big plus 👍. Service was friendly, polite and timely, and all at an amazing price. Highly recommend for Sunday lunch and also for weekday lunch time food which is equally good.

Went today for lunch, and being a nice day we sat outside. I ordered lasagne which came with a small side salad, and a portion of chips and my wife had chicken rossini which came with chips and and a selection of vegetables. "Wow" what a meal, every thing is freshly cooked and home made, non of this boil in the bag rubbish, or frozen portions, even the chips are cut and cooked to order. A very enjoyable meal at a reasonable price. Would recommend a visit. Thanks

Lovely little pub with an eclectic crowd of people. The bistro food was absolutely delicious. We both had steak with sauces & we were not disappointed. The steaks were tender, juicy & tasty, the peppercorn sauce was homemade and beautiful & the chips were triple cooked & tasted all the better for it. It was very busy (unsurprisingly), but our waitress (young lady strawberry blonde hair-sorry didn’t catch your name) handled everything perfectly..well done..we could see how busy you were but despite the pressure you were so attentive 😊. We will definitely be back to have another meal..we’ll worth a visit & highly recommended

We went to Jones’ Bistro to celebrate a family birthday as a party of six. We were regular patrons of the Axe and Compass and were expecting great food. We were not disappointed. We sat in the bar, which was bustling and lively, and were served by a really great waitress who made everything look effortless. The food was excellent - we started with the charcuterie board which was perfect for sharing and a balanced combination of meat and cheese (the mozzarella, tomato and basil combination was particularly lovely). We followed with a rib eye, gammon (two eggs!), burgers, hot pot (with separate veg) and a lovely Caesar salad (great croutons and hot bacon). The chips were especially delicious. We had individual cherry cheesecake, crumble and Eton mess for dessert. It was all superb - beautifully cooked and pleasantly served. We would definitely go back and highly recommend. A great evening.

After the recommendation of a friend, we booked in to try the Cross Keys and I am so glad that we did. There's a car park just down the road, about a 2 minute walk away. When you walk into the pub, you are immediately hit with the smell of the cooking and you just know you are in for a treat. All the staff working, whether waiting tables or behind the bar were fantastic, service was on point. You are best to book, it goes get very busy and it's easy to see why. I went for the Portobello Mushrooms in a creamy blue cheese sauce which were insanely good and rich. The portion sizes are great, you get 3 big portobello mushrooms in the dish, they provide soup spoons for the sauce and plenty of bread for dunking. For mains, I had to go for the Toad in the Hole. Wow. A delicious Yorkshire pudding, crispy on the outside and nice and soft in the middle, with 3 delicious, herby butchers bangers inside. A beautifully buttery mash and a sage and onion gravy. The Toad in the Hole came in a skillet. Everything is seasoned so well and the flavours are so good that you just don't need any condiments/salt/pepper. Despite being full, we had to try the Desserts. I went for bread and butter pudding, a huge wedge, piping hot covered in marmalade came out with clotted cream. Cooked perfectly, moist inside and crispy on the outside. I cannot get over how good the food and service is and would urge anybody to get a table booked at the Cross Keys.

Called into Cross keys for our booking at 18.30 3rd April All tables booked and pub already busy, again we were NOT disappointed . Starters are so delicious, think we've tried them all now. Main courses are something else. MORE amazing. Everything is freshly prepared on ordering, the wait is so worth it. (Not that it's long) Jones & staff work so hard at maintaining a level of excellence. Our next food list will be Sunday Roast. Need expanding waistband for this one. Well done everyone at the Keys, it's certainly on the map.

Fabulous food in a lovely environment, a great choice on the menu & everything was excellent from quality of service to quality & quantity of food.

Just got home after going for Sunday lunch. One of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had, the roast potatos and parsnips were really crisp and a good mix of vegetables. We didn't have a starter, because we wanted a sweat instead, and glad we didn't as we were almost full after our main course. If you want good home cooked food, then give this place a try and booking is advised.

Service and staff are really good, friendly and helpful. Food was amazing, great value as well. Lovely atmosphere, family friendly.

My wife said it was the best chicken caesar salad she's ever had. Probably our 4th dining experience here and the food has been very good on each occasion.

The most amazing food. We have been here several times for lunch and the food is outstanding every time. Lovely menu which changes with the seasonal food availability. Top quality food cooked to perfection by the talented chef. It is fantastic to have this little gem within walking distance of our home. Highly recommended.

We are locals to the area and use all the pubs in Burbage. Have to say the Cross Keys is the stand out. We haven’t used the new ‘out-source’ kitchen yet so this is purely based on the quality of beer which is always excellent , the staff are always very friendly and the Land Lord Eoin is as good as you’ll find. The pub itself is always clean and tidy. Keep the good work up Cross Keys ! 👍👏

Group of six for lunch on Saturday. Pretty quiet. Food came quickly. Classic pub dishes which were pretty decent. Not too expensive. Cash only in restaurant.

As a family of five, we arrived at 13:30 on a Saturday, I went to the toilet and was greeted outside of the toilet door by the waitress asking me what I wanted to order as the chef would be only cooking pizza after 14:00. We did order food, which when it came was very nice. I just didn't appreciate being to asked to choose so quickly.

We booked inside but they were happy to move us outside in the sun. Superb Sunday Lunch served by a great team. Even my son enjoyed the Sunday Roast, there can be no higher praise!

Great pub, very very friendly waiting staff. Great, busy, atmosphere. The food was lovely I had the Thai curry, which was delicious. My friend had the superfood salad which was just as nice. The best thing about the pub is the lovely team.

Visited friends here for drinks on a Thursday evening. Really nice friendly atmosphere inside with lots of different seating areas. Drinks were very reasonably priced. The only negative point being parking was quite difficult to find in the immediate area. Would definitely come here again for drinks.

On entry sign in with app but then no further guidance. Had to ask at the bar what procedure was...oh dear Marston's, epic fail. Two waitresses, one in charge of drinks, one for food. Drinks one was hopeless, wanted refill of beer and she never came to take order. Food waitress very attentive. Food was superb: pie, buttery mash. The term 'greens' actually meant Savoy cabbage. Tough if that was the one green you don't like!

Popular public house in centre of village. Limited menu choice. Service is friendly. Food is good. Worth a visit.

We hadn't booked but there were several tables vacant so no problem. Our Covid- 19 affected lunch went very smoothly with plenty of social distancing and sanitising stations.The staff were very good and helpful so you didn't have to leave your table. Service was equally good and as swift as appropriate. The food menu is a bit limited so if you go there frequently you will eat the same thing often.Anyway, we are happy to return at any time!

Amazing - loved every second of our visit after being let down by the silchar in Hinckley who cancelled our reservation on the day with no reason. Anyway, fast forward to calling in at the cross keys on the off chance, I was greeted with lovely smiles and nothing but amazing helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Felt very safe, relaxed with a chilled vibe. Everything we ordered was absolutely delish! Menu is small, but very adaptable for gluten free/veggie/vegan. Pizza and brownie were fab! Will absolutely be back for more.Thank you all :)

We have visited a couple of times recently. On both occasions we ordered the steak and chips, which is well cooked (rare, just as I like it)and served with a small green salad and chips. They are currently offering the Eat out to help out discount, which makes a meal here fantastic value. One suggestion is that they could offer sides of vegetables or salad. We ordered a side order of the superfood salad, which worked well. The staff are very friendly here. They work hard, bringing all the food and drinks to the table. We’ll be back soon.

Their food is a little bit bad as well as good 🙁 but the people there are very friendly. Their garden is very nice.

We eat here most Monday lunches. Exceptional food, service, and staff. All in fantastic surroundings. The superfood salad, Halloumi, and king prawn is the absolute business.

Spacious dining space both indoors and out, is very well organised for social distancing with a one way system in place. Service for both drinks and food is friendly and efficient. Food is freshly made, tasty and reasonable priced with a good selection of vegetarian options

First time visit to the Cross keys with a 4 and 7 year old. We sat outside for Sunday lunch, very well set up for social distancing and lovely quiet garden with garden space where the kids can go and play if they want to. Kids had lovely freshly baked pizzas. We had the roast pork and roast beef. All the food was fantastic, and the roasts are possibly the best pub Sunday lunch we’ve had, all fresh vegetables, and amazing roasties and perfect Yorkshire puddings. They also gave us extra gravy and Yorkshire puds. We will definitely be back!

Just returned home after a few drinks and a fabulous Sunday lunch. So nice to be back and to see friends. We sat indoors but there are plenty of distanced tables in the garden also. Everything is well organised as per Covid regulations.

After a family & friends gathering at the Cross Keys at the weekend we really want to recommend the place to others that may be thinking of doing the same. We spoke to the brilliant bar manager Owen to have the backroom made available for us. We found the pub to be intimate and very accommodating. All the bar staff were friendly and the kitchen looked after us when we made a last minute decision for a variety of tasty pizzas.Thanks all!

We have used the Cross Keys for well over 50 years .... my wife use to work there and lived next door but one to it... I even invited her out for our first ‘date’ whilst she was behind the bar!!! .... BUT It’s true to say that ‘unfortunately’ It has had its share of issues over the last couple of years BUT it’s GREAT to see that it’s now back to its ‘BEST’ ... what a location...in the centre of the village opposite the Church it’s what ‘Village Life’ is all about!! We have eaten there recently on their Thai night and the food was EXCELLENT’ it was also GREAT to see the ‘PUB’ busy with a lot of ‘locals’ that I know have used the pub for a number of years ... Thanks Matt & Euion (sorry if I haven’t spelt that correctly!!!) We 100% recommended the Cross Keys for either ‘great beer’ or ‘great food’Thanks

Fab and friendly pub perfect for families, groups of friends or couples wanting a drink. Lovely food too!

The house kitchen staff are so lovely, they make you so welcome as soon as you work through the door. The main waitress, she has a heart of gold, like i said she makes feel so welcome as soon as you walk through the door. She doesn't make you wait so long for your food to come out unlike most places, always say hello and goodbye when you entre and exit the building. I can not say 1 bad thing back the food, the food is amazing, all home made and it just tastes amazing. I can not say 1 bad thing about this place, just such a friendly loving environment and i would definitely recommend it.

Sat in front of an open fire, steak&ale pie and fish&chips were delicious, a definite recommendation !!

Ate here for the first time for many years and it really was great. The food was interesting and tasty. Service was very efficient and there was a very nice atmosphere. Moreover the bill was equally pleasing. We will return soon.

Didn't fancy cooking so we thought we pop to our new local. It waa really lovely food, quiet when we were there but it was early around 6pm. Pleasant staff and good tasty food. Would recommend a visit and look forward to our next one x

I live locally and this pub has had several owners in the last couple of years. Having undergone a significant rennovation it is now bustling and lively, which is a pleasure to see in a village pub. My wife, daughter and I have now between us tried pretty much everything on the menu, as well as a one-off Spanish Tapas evening. It has been universally delicious, a big step up from standard microwaved/deep fried pub-grub and not too different in terms of £. The pizzais especially good. The staff are friendly and competent and children are made welcome.

My family and I celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at the lovely Cross Keys. We reserved the back area of the pub and set up a tab at the bar with ease. We had pre booked a buffet with Matt from House Kitchen which everyone agrees was absolutely delicious. The bar staff were great and the drinks were perfectly served. We had a very lovely afternoon and felt extremely welcome in this lovely village pub. Many Thanks

My husband and I decided to take a walk into the village on a glorious Saturday lunchtime. Not having been to the Cross Keys since it was refurbished we decided to give it a go. How glad are we that we did. Struggled to decide what to have but ended up with the Stack and Superfood salad, both dishes were absolutely excellent and made a refreshing change. We are going to have to go back as we want to try the Malaysian Curry and Lamb dish. Definitely recommend.

Situated in the lovely village of Burbage, opposite the Church. Beautifully decorated inside, lovely atmosphere with lots of cosy seating areas. We arrived late for our table but nothing was too much trouble and the food was AMAZING. I ordered the Truffle Hog, Sourdough Pizza - Fresh, Delicious and Great Value !

Since The Cross Keys refurbishment last year it really has gone from strength to strength. It’s warm, welcoming and a heart of the village. Now that House Kitchen are on board doing food which is soooo good it’s the full package. So lucky to have such a lovely pub in the village.

I was excited that the restaurant at this popular pub was reopening under a new team called The House Kitchen. So I took my grandaughter there today for their opening lunch. We shared a big portion of fish and chips with minted peas and home made tartar sauce. It was excellent. Staff were lovely too, so friendly and welcoming. Reasonably priced. My grandaughter loved it too. A great addition for Burbage food lovers.

Jokingly told the Landlord I would give him a lousy review on TripAdvisor. Last Sunday our grandson was christened in the Church opposite and our daughter had booked for a buffet for afterwards for about 30 people. Very nice pub, very good food, very good and friendly service. We will definitely go back.

Came here last Tuesday for a meal with a large group. Excellent choice of interesting meals. We had ordered in advance. Food was brought out efficiently and was piping hot. Excellent value for money..

Búsquedas en la internet conducen a pensar este más centrada en la comida italiana, pero creo que el menú ha cambiado y ahora es más un simple menú de pub. La comida estaba muy bien presentada, sabrosa y excelente relación calidad-precio. Disfrutamos especialmente de la lubina y la pizza de mi novio parecía realmente bueno! Sin duda volveremos para un bocado para comer barato y alegre.

Nice meal and good service from friendly staff. Warm and welcoming. The only feedback about the lunch would be to use really hot plates. The food went cool very quickly. Would return again.

Metimos el domingo para el almuerzo y la cena disfrutamos. No podría decidir en entrantes, así que decidimos pedir dos y compartir! Mi Cordero Mediterráneo era delicioso mientras que podría haber pedido la otra porción de pan para terminar la salsa stilton utilizada en el plato hongo delicioso! Campo principal era carne, muy bien presentado y sencillo! Sólo una pequeña crítica sería una porción mayor de verduras vistas ligeramente no habría ido a perderse! San Miguel también era muy agradable! Nos vemos pronto!

Tapas martes. Tres platos, servida con pan de ajo y un vaso de vino por £9.95. ¿Qué más se puede pedir?? Valor excepcional!

Have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food which always exceeds expectations. However, I have always had a long wait after ordering the food, sometimes up to an hour, although some of this delay will be down to the food being freshly prepared. If you are prepared for a wait the food is well worth it.

Having visited the Cross Keys on several occasions, both for food and just a drink, we have always been greated with a smile from the friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Food is reasonably priced and always good, especially the ribs, pies, seafood and the puddings! The beer garden is very inviting on a sunny day or you can enjoy the log fires on a cold winters evening!Young or old, all made welcome.

What more can I say apart from the food is absolutely good the staff are so polite and always smiling would suggest the cross keys for food :)

I've visited the Cross Keys in Burbage several times for family birthday meals and have always found the food very good, notably the ribs, pizza's and limoncello cheesecake. The staff are always cheerful and polite. The only downfall is that sometimes there is a long wait for food to arrive but we were having a party so it did not bother us.

What more can I say other than great staff always smiling and been polite they are all great with children and great food, not a bad visit yet!

I have never met such a pig headed and rude person as the owner of the Cross Keys. How is he still in business. If you like being insulted this is the place for you, if you want friendly landlord avoid like the plague.

My family went to this pub on a very warm and sunny Easter Monday afternoon. As we had dogs with us we sat in the garden. My 26 year old daughter went to the bar and asked for a glass of lemonade. She was asked for ID by the barmaid who then refused to serve her a lemonade because she did not have any ID on her. She came back outside an I went to the bar for her but before I had even opened my mouth the barmaid told me that if I had come to buy my daughter a drink she would still need to see her ID. My son, aged 24 was with me and he was then asked for his ID too. I am sure I have been to that pub and sat in the garden with families with children before, Why cant i buy my 26 year old daughter a lemonade without her ID when we are sitting outside? I was upset about the attitude of the barmaid as it spoiled an otherwise lovely day Ever heard of customer service Cross Keys? After 30 years of living in Burbage it will be a long time before I go in there again.

Had heard that the takeaway pizzas were pretty special n having bought 2 tonight, they were delicious!!! Seriously Yummy! And a great price!! 5 Stars! Well done The Cross Keys!!!

Me and my family visit this pub on a weekly basis and we are always greeted with smiles from the staff who remember our favourite drinks. The food is well presented and arrives fairly quickly. Our favourites are the pizzas which are very authentic Italian and are the best I've had anywhere for a long time. Would recommend to anyone, not your usual pub grub.

I visited this pub while on a 340 mile round-trip taking my daughter back to Warwick Uni and planned to get some lunch here: I always prefer to give my business to 'proper' pubs and restaurants and not the chains that litter the motorway and road junctions.Anyway, I have over 40 reviews to my name and you'll find they're almost all 4 or 5 stars, so I'm not the type to grumble without cause and I HATE complaining. When faced with bad service I usually just leave no tip and don't return but the Cross keys is an exception...We arrived about 12:30, ordered drinks then ordered food (4 pizzas and a child's pizza) at 12:40. We were told that it would be a 20 minute wait which was fine, I'd rather have something fresh and wait than microwaved in 2 minutes... I'm not including all conversations here, we checked progress from time to time at the bar, but here are the highlights...1:20pm and no food. I politely asked and was told it was coming right out with an apology as they had a large group in (they did, they arrived a little after us). The manager then came over and begrudgingly said sorry but it would be another 10 minutes and if we wanted our money back we could have it back or wait the 10 minutes. I pointed out we had already waited 40 minutes and he said money back or wait, my choice, take it or leave it. We opted to wait as we didn't know the area and might struggle to get fed elsewhere and had two hungry restless children with us but were really taken aback by his attitude when they were entirely at fault.1:33 (I'm now timing it to the minute) and three pizzas arrive.1:42 and a fourth arrives.1:45 (with 4 cold pizzas) and I've had enough. It was now 65 minutes since ordering and 25 minutes since being promised the meal in 10 minutes. I asked to see the manager. And then I waited... and waited... and after a few minutes he appeared with a pizza, just short of an hour and 10 minutes after ordering by which time the kids had had enough and we were running seriously late.There then followed an altercation with the manager! He became very aggressive with me and I called him an ****hole (much to the shock of my family as I don't swear). I got my credit card back off them and left.So here's the thing. Things don't always go right, I work with customers on a daily basis and sometimes there are problems. If we'd got pizzas after 50 minutes or so I'd probably have just eaten them and paid up (in a very English way), it wasn't so much the problem but the manager who had a "take it or leave it" attitude. A sincere apology, a free drink for the kids,a little bit of effort or any genuine empathy and it would have been ok but quite frankly, the manager (owner? I don't know) simply couldn't give a damn, lied and gave us no real options as the pizza was always a 5-10 minute wait away.The pizzas that did arrive looked good, but we didn't get to eat them and I dare say, if things went to plan you could have a lovely meal here, but if things don't go to plan.. watch out!We found a KFC, unpacked our daughter quickly and got back in the car for the return journey. He ruined our day.
