Popped in for a drink when passing...huge ice outdoor seating areas to front and side with grassed area. Dog friendly in bar area. Large car park. All nice and clean. Pool table room also with dart board. Sunday carvery on offer too. Seperate smallish dining area.

Went Sunday lunch at13. 30ish the food was very disappointing. All three of my roast potatoes were rock hard as were my wifes. There was a strange taste (which we couldn't identify) to all the food. On looking around the other tables we noticed that there was a huge amount of food left on the plates of other diners.. We reported our concerns to the waitress and she apologised and said that she would inform the chef. We too left a lot of food. As regular visitors to the area we will in future sadly give this place a miss.

We stopped by this place for some food and seeing the nice exterior made us think it was worth a drop in without having first looked for reviews/ recommendations. The service was prompt, friendly and very pleasant. The atmosphere was mixed between a cosy countryside pub which was to its credit, pet friendly, whilst the other half had a feel of local boozer with pool table and fruit machine. The gents toilets were however not pleasant with one leaky urinal having an open bucket placed underneath it. I'm told the ladies toilets actually looked to have had effort put in with some free Toiletries that were a welcome surprise. What made this place somewhere I wouldn't recommend was the food. No one at our 5 person table finished the food. The burgers were really bad, so were the (what looked like turkey) sausages. One of our group took a single bite of the burger and left the rest. I cant emphasise this enough but the moment the burgers were brought to our table it was obvious that it was not going to be a good experience with the buns each looking like they had been stomped on. Not wanting to keep on this point but each of the burgers looked and tasted like bad school canteen food. It was a shame

The staff were lovely; very helpful and friendly and looked after us well. Sadly, the food was disappointing. The portions were generous but it was all bland and tasteless. All the sauces were thickened with flour which adds nothing to the flavour. The final disappointment was being served instant coffee. There should be a mandatory warning at the door for establishments still serving instant.

We were travelling through Wales and decided to stop for a lunchtime drink at The Cross Guns at Pant, near Oswestry and, as it was a lovely day, we planned to sit in the pub garden. The staff were friendly and welcoming but when I pointed out that the pub dog had just done its `business` in the pub garden, the staff did nothing about clearing it up. We took our drinks into the large pub garden only to discover quite a lot of dog mess at various places on the grass. Not ideal, therefore, if you wished to bring young children there - or in fact anyone! A pity because it is a good place to stop on your journey through Wales.

Had 2 pints and a portion of there famous loaded chips. Was very excited for these as we've heard nothing but compliments about them. Had the halloumi fries and asked to swap the sweet chilli mayo for just mayo as I don't like sweet chilli for them to put no sauce on it and give us 4 sachets of mayo sauce. For £14 we expected the sauce to already be on there. The fries were the biggest disappointment though. For £14, which is insanely expensive for chips, all we got was a medium sized portion of fries, with pomegranate seeds and spring onions mixed in with 5 or 6 slices of halloumi ontop. That's it. Don't get me wrong, they were very nice, but for £14, incredibly overpriced. I'd pay no more than £5 if I knew what they were. Very disappointed for the price we paid. Pints were nice however, staff were friendly and the atmosphere is nice.

Starters were delicious and good portions. However our mains were way to salty and disappointing because of this. Staff are lovely and the place is very nice and cosy. UPDATE: 9/7/23 Had Sunday dinner here today. Highly disappointed for £18 each for a Sunday lunch it is appalling. Mostly everything is mashed.. the meat is average although you do get a lot. You get one small roast potato which is hardly cooked. Small amount of mash, large Yorke which is hit and miss... mine was perfect but the other three with me didn't think much of it. Everything more or less tasted like leek with strange aftertaste on meet. For x4 people our bill was just under £140 and with the quality way too much. I would never have a Sunday lunch here again!!! It also took nearly 30 minutes just for our starters which were really nice in all fairness. x3 of which were soup!

We spotted this place in the middle of a 4 hour drive and popped in searching for sustenance. We were quickly seated and food took no time at all to arrive. It was reasonably priced - we had starters and a main - and absolutely stunning. My husband had the beef Sunday Roast, whilst I had Crab Mac n' Cheese with salad and garlic bread. We were in fact so full that neither of us needed dinner later that evening despite eating at 1pm! The waitress who served us (we missed her name unfortunately, but she was very young) was very happy to help with anything and was a joy to talk to. They also had the sweetest sheep dog on site who was happy to play fetch and was just generally adorable. It was clear as we were leaving that the site is dog friendly for all as other guests were showing up with their furred friends. Excellent experience in general and we've noted it on our GMaps as a place to stop in future excursions!

The roast pork was outstanding, a huge portion of meat with top notch roast potatoes, a selection of fresh veg, stuffing, pig in blanket and a delicious Yorkshire pudding. All top quality homemade food. We were a group of 5 adults and 5 young children and the staff went absolutely above and beyond to make us feel relaxed and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff seems to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask - bringing teaspoons for us to feed the babies and colouring books and pencils for the older children. We will most definitely be back. Thanks so much to the team for making a family meal so enjoyable.

Atmosphere shocking, we been travelling 6 hours after picking our boy up from army and really looked nice from outside. We are so down to earth and friendly and just felt so frowned down upon. They really didn’t care about how you were served or spoken to. No chips available just fried, which is not the end of the world if they were fresh. If only we knew mc Donald’s were down the road, we would have gone there. As a buisness owner you go out of your way to please customers but I don’t think they know how to even be friendly. Steak was nice but mushroom and tomato were from breakfast by looks of. Poor, poor. Very disappointed. It’s nice to be nice and accommodating and this is something that was totally lacking.

Those are the positives, the food is basically rubbish and the service and customer service is non-existant! My advice regarding the Cross Guns....is to travel a few hundred yards up the road (heading towards Oswestry) and go to the most excellent White Lion...better service, fantastic menu choice, and frankly better attitude.

Popped in on the off chance because our regular venu was closed. The place was deserted, with only two tables occupied, which is generally an ominous sign for me. However, the waiter was very genial and the meal was excellent. We did consider the sandwich menu a tad expensive so opted for the breakfast at two o’clock in the afternoon! We were not disappointed. My partner had the full ‘Carriages’ breakfast, and I was pleasantly surprised to see I was able to make a selection from individually priced items, thereby creating a personalised breakfast. We were also offered a choice of how we would like our eggs prepared. I have had many breakfasts in my time but this was, without doubt, the very best. The presentation was faultless and it was cooked to perfection. The coffees we ordered were also excellent. On reflection we decided that perhaps the sandwiches might have turned out to be worth their price tag so will definitely be going back to find out! One final consideration was the toilets. So often I leave a venu, never to return, because of the poor condition of the toilets. However their toilets were pristine with complimentary hygiene products available. I am only surprised by how quiet it was. I appreciate that it is primarily an events venu but, if you haven’t done so already, then I recommend popping in for lunch.

We visited the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. This was our first visit for food and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. Wine and service also good. It’s a beautiful, eclectic place and we will definitely return.
