Booked the brewery tour package from Red Letter days. The tour was very informative with Josh being a fountain of knowledge and obviously loving brewing and beer. His witty remarks and low key humour really made the tour enjoyable. The beer tasting in the bar was flexible and offered a pint taken eith as a pint, two halves or a flight of 3, third pints to enable a range to be tried! Although a small brewery they have some quite advanced mechanisation for bottling, canning and casking! Very impressed,

If your looking something to do and you like Beer/Lager then this is the place to go! We arrived at the pub to a warm welcome from the host to our experience. The brewery is set at the back of the pub. We were shown around the brewery by Josh who was knowledgeable and informative. The tour lasts about an hour and is very interesting. Once done, we were able to choose a two course meal. The food was lovely and piping hot. We had starters which were unusual, the mains being traditional pub grub. We thought it was all round value for money.

Had done the brewery tour a couple of years ago so knew the quality of the ales. Back in the area on holiday, we did a walk nearby and popped in for lunch. A big shout out for the chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomatoe sandwich. I would describe it as a “club sandwich”, three layers of toasted quality brown bread with generous and tasty fillings served with proper chips. More substantial than expected and good value at £6.50. Beer needless to say excellent. Staff first class. Highly recommend.

I have stayed at the adjoining pub and eaten there a few times, there is a vast majority of local beers including cask and keg and the cider is good too! The food is good traditional pub food and the service is fantastic. The location is a little out of the way so a designated driver would be needed if you are tempted by the ale. All in all a good experience especially if you have the toor of the brewery.

Unable to comment on the whole range of food and drink provided, but our experience was very good indeed. Good menu selection, well-cooked food, generous portions and tasty ingredients. The beer is very good, I tried two types and both were high quality, tasty and distinctive. Wine selection is good, service was fast and friendly. Only slightly negative comment was freshness of salad, which had seen better days.

Visited cropton brewery for a tour and lunch. Have to say Jane who took us on the tour was rather funny and despite not originating from Yorkshire she sure is a rite Yorkshire lass now. The tour was interesting informative and more enjoyable than other tours we've done at other breweries. Lunch afterwards was lovely, a good two course selection gif tour customers, the suet crust steak pie was Delish, and ham with perfectly cooked eggs. One little niggle though was we chose to have three courses so ordered starters from the main menu, the creamy garlic mushrooms has got to be the smallest portion I've ever seen I was quite taken aback for almost £6, I had no more than 2-3 mushrooms chopped on two very tiny & thin pieces of crostini and where was the cream because I had no creamy sauce at all. Thankfully the rest of the meal redeemed itself and the bargain of the tour lunch and gift pack means in all it really was good value. Just felt that particular starter needed a mention incase something was amiss and it came out to me unfinished.

We found the food and service excellent and portions were large . Bob , who took us on the Brewery tour , was very knowledgeable about the brewing process , history of brewing and the brewery it self and open to all questions which he responded to with knowledge and humour . He also proved to be an excellent host at the tasting session , again showing his extensive knowledge of all the beers on offer . Came here with a groupon. Had not expected much, was just an idea for a different day out. Janet, our guide was great, knowledgeable, interesting and engaging. Her talk drew upon history, local traditions as well as explaining the brewing process. You get a pint of beer after the tour which you can order as a pint, halves or thirds so you try more than one. Enjoyed the Moonstone and the Yorkshire Blackout. The food was well cooked, used local produce and was served in large portions. Particularly liked the smoked mackerel salad.

We visited for 2 nights as we could book our motorhome onto the car park to stay over. In spring & summer months they have a camping field next door. It's a very hilly area & the entrance to the car park is steep & winding, so may not be suitable for more than 7.5 metre motorhomes. We happily found a level area at the bottom of the car park. I wanted to go on the brewery tour so pre-booked the stopover & the tour. The staff are friendly & very welcoming. The kitchen cooks super meals, we ate on the 2 nights we stayed & had good meals both nights. Great Steak Pie! The brewery tour is well worth booking as the lady guide was brilliant, the beer is excellent & now sold overseas, but still a microbrewery. My husband worked his way throught the beers over 2 nights, all are highly recommended. They do B & B which seems very popular & it's worth booking a table in the restaurant for evening meals, but you can eat in the bar from the same menu. They do good lunches too. BTW, virtually no mobile phone signal & poor pub wifi, so you may need to go cold-turkey on your social contacts. This seems to be a good base for visiting the local beauty spots & the coast isn't far away. Dogs welcome too at £10 a night!

Firstly the front of house staff were great although there was only 2 of them and the bar/restaurant was busy. The food was average and particularly let down by the presentation. We had the foresight to book a table for dinner on a Saturday night, and arrived to find the car park very full, and the bar and restaurant areas packed. Though we appreciated they were very busy, it took 15 minutes for us to be shown to our table, and a further 20 minutes for us to grab a waitress to take on order. We felt invisible. The pub is completely let down by the poor decor and level of cleanliness. The only really good thing is the great choice of beer. Don't try the draft cider - it's awful. Meals are of a fair standard, good value for money but there is no decent cruet. The whole experience is out of the 70's and 80's. The chairs were damned uncomfortable and one of our party could not get his legs under the table - very awkward. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great to have food in the premises that brew their own beer. We were a larger group. The pub is next to the brewery and hosts brewery tours. We were on one. So space can be limited in the main pub. That said they have a room at the rear of the building were you can assemble and eat. All we had were sandwiches, scampi and soup . My wife and two friends visited the New Inn Cropton village for a meal and was dissapointed .We ordered their beef burger which came with salad and a small bowl of chips for £9.99.This being the cheapest on the menue.!!The meal was served on a straight slab of wood approx 12 inches long by 6 inch wide by 1 inch thick and looked like dark pine also with a handle carved out at tbe end. This made the organising of the food a bit difficult to say the least.I hope it was well washed as the food came directly in contact with it apart from the chips which came in a round bowl . Not very confidence inspiring as that type of surface can hide all manner of germs in the grain and needs to be steamed clean at the very least. The burger was tastless although filling and was quite large. There was also some straggly lettuce to compliment it.The bar offered a good range of micro brewery ales but being a guiness drinker didnt inspire me.All in all the pub was quaint but needed a bit of TLC .Staff were pleasant ,service was good .Would I revisit for a meal no The general prices were too high for the value of what was on offer . My over all impression for the food a definite average .

Had a lovely bank hol weekend here, with a 2 night stay. Great food, nice room, and the staff were REALLY great, but deserving a particular mention (sorry I didn't get names) is the lovely, friendly, funny, cheerful blonde Polish lady in the restaurant who couldn't do enough for you, and the dark haired ,pregnant lady behind the bar who was really pleasant, friendly and approachable, and happy to have a bit chat . The weather was great, which I know (I think???) Isn't controlled by the New Inn, but we were able to take full advantage of the weather as the beer garden is gorgeous, a little paradise, with a bit to one side, heavily planted, and with a pond full of fish and tadpoles, which someone has very thoughtfully put an exit route into, in the form of a plank, to allow frogs or anything else that falls in to get out. The birds use it to drink too. I love that someone cared enough to do that :-) We saw 13 species of bird in the beer garden Inc green finches and goldfinches, a benefit of such a rural location (and an available watersource no doubt) The meal we had was lovely, with the most tender steak I've possibly ever had in my life, (10 oz rump, possibly ever so slightly less cooked than I like, (I'm fussy) but not so much that it made a difference to my enjoyment of it) and the chips are proper chips, not just fried oven chips. The breakfast too was very nice, and they allowed substitution of items on the breakfast menu , which, as a diabetic, I was extremely grateful for, being able to substitute carbohydrate loaded fried bread for another egg instead. There is WiFi available, although in our room it was somewhat unreliable, but we were still able to use Netflix on the laptop, although we did sometimes have trouble connecting. There was no phone signal, but again we were able to use WiFi for internet (except in the beer garden) even if we had to try a couple of times. You were able to get out during the night too, even though most of the pub was alarmed after 12- good peace of mind for guests- great for smokers like myself, although INCREDIBLY noisy floorboards put me off a bit! (Still not much can be done about that short of replacing the floors!) The brewery tour was really interesting, and ably conducted by Ian, who knew what he was talking about and took the time to answer questions, with opportunity to see and smell the raw ingredients (in sample tubs, we didn't stick our fingers in the beer!) One of the workers on the floor stopped as he was passing to show us the pelleted form of the hops they use, (as opposed to the whole form of hops in the demonstration tubs) which I thought was really good of him, and showed once again the staff are genuinely interested in making it a good experience for visitors, instead of just ignoring us as he got on with his work. Even though there were only the two of us on this particular tour, we felt we got the full experience, and there were no awkward silences :-) However no review would be complete without the beer. Ian said they don't make a 'bad' beer, and boy was he right. We tried them all, with the exception of chocolate orange, which foolishly, despite being warned how fast it sells out, we waited until the next day to try, by which time it had sold out. The 'Two Chefs' was a perfect summer drink ,very different from what I've had elsewhere, made with lemon hops and honey, light, crisp and fragrant, yet with a complex flavour it was possibly my favourite. But it vies for first place with Blackout which was also fantastic, and very different from what I've tasted elsewhere. Rich and chocolatey, it had hints of Tia Maria and coffee, but was surprisingly easy to drink. I also tried the cider (think cider lollies, it was gorgeous -another summer drink, chilled, but which I suspect would be equally good mulled in winter)It's possibly the best cider I've ever tasted, and I go on holiday to Somerset every year!!! I also tried Monkmans Slaughter, Yorkshire Golden, Yorkshire red lager, Yorkshire Lager, Yorkshire classic and Lavender Blonde, all of which were delicious, with the Lager, Red, Golden and Classic all being what I would describe as a excellent session beers. My main complaint , albeit a minor one, is that, despite the Yorkshire and England flags flying outside, and it being the 'Great Yorkshire Brewery' the Tea and Coffee making facilities had TETLEY tea bags; Yorkshire tea is the best -I don't live or work in Yorkshire, but I drink Yorkshire tea; I know people at work who will go without, and even people who have never spoken to me before will beg a teabag sometimes, (I ALWAYS have a box in my drawer)despite us having actually pretty good free tea and coffee machines.I know Tetleys started in Yorkshire, but it's still not Yorkshire tea. Tetleys is for Tea heathens ;-P Change it to Yorkshire Tea to keep the experience complete and educate the palates of the unenlightened:-) Overall, a must do. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Will I go back? Definitely. Probably before the year is out.

I bought this tour for my hubby's 50th. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were greeted and had all the details of our voucher explained. We then ordered our main courses, we both chose the steak and ale pie, which was superb! This was followed by lovely desserts, a treacle pudding and a whiskey bread and butter pudding, absolutely delicious. We were then taken on our tour with a very humorous young man. This was followed by some taste testers of the different beers made by the brewer. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to visit again and possibly stay over so we can sample some more of this fine beer. Highly recommend.

We went on a trip to Whitby and on the way decided to drop by The New Inn for Lunch. We were hungry. Always, in the past, the food has been excellent. We made the wrong decision. I had Barnsley chop. There was obviously a lot of bone and what meat there was needed an axe to get through it. The carrots were warm but old and not cooked and they took some hacking to cut through. My husband ordered belly pork. It looked tasty, but it was like eating string and tasteless. The little apple something pie thing that was with it was surely meant for a pudding, far too sugary! The bubble and squeak was grey and soggy without much squeak. Oh dear, we will not be going there again for a long, long time. Waste of money and time. What happened to the lovely food they used to do? The only redeeming feature was that my husband says the beer was good.

We had a lovely meal at the New Inn at Cropton. There is a decent range of starters, mains and desserts are very good prices. This is enhanced by the excellent beers brewed at the rear of the pub ... And you can take home gift sets of your favourite ales. The bar staff ans waitress are very friendly. This pub is well worth a visit at any time of the week.

The Brewery Tours are a great way to find out about tyhe skills of beer making. Highly recommended, especially if you manage to get a voucher deal. The opportunity to sample the various brews is an added bonus. The New Inn Pub attached to the brewery also serves very hearty meals.

We stayed at the cottage owned by the pub - just across the car park. Great, warm, clean accomodation. Private garden was ideal for the dog. Great food in the pub. Wide selection of food on offer at breakfast. Cooked breakfast set us up for the day. Great service from all the staff. A table set up in the residents lounge to enable us to bring our dog with us at breakfast. Other meals taken in the bar, again dog friendly. Amazing meat pie - you must try it if you visit. Stayed 3 nights and did the brewery tour. Very informative about the beer and the beer tasted great - wide range of options of beer. Did not manage to try them all!!!Will be visiting again. Would really recommend.

We booked the brewery tour and Mike the tour guide was fantastic, informative, knowledgeable and amusing and obviously has his heart in the job, thanks Mike! Very good value, great food, huge portions of freshly cooked good quality food. All staff friendly under great pressure, poor lass behind the bar was taking food orders, pulling pints, changing the barrel, answering the phone and still smiling! Highly recommend the brewery tour, great beer, and good hearty food, we'll be back again!

Good selection of ales at good prices but would be better if 5 litre kegs were available. The bottle packs could also have more variety but the quality is there.

Decent choice of food available however we ordered pie mash Mushy peas and gravy. Only had 1 pie (so got a pasty as there was 2 of us) Mash was made from a jacket potato it was very lumpy tinned peas over blasted in the microwave served with a smile however forgot the gravy and it arrived half way through us eating the meal. Sadly this place could be a little gold mine if run correctly and proper attention to detail applied with the food. We hafmd our lunch at 12.15 so there was no way they could have ran out of mash? Could do better really

A lovely friendly bakery, just one wee table to sit and and have a coffee and observe the comings and goings of the regulars, the holiday makers and day trippers. Bread and cakes wonderful, a lovely lady owns this place and I wish her well!

This cafe has been closed for months. There doesnt seem any sight of it reopening. I think the owner was having staff problems and suffering from unsympathetic reviews. We enjoyed our visits and good food. Shame
