Went today for lunch , I decided i was having soup , they said it was the last portion so that was fine , I asked for no bread which , when it came it was the smallest half bowl of soup for £6.25 , I didn’t want anything knocking off for not having the bread but did expect a full dish, looking at the menu I could of had a small breakfast, or sandwich for about the same price , it’s soup where do they get over £6 for it!!

2nd visit in a couple of months, first visit was mediocre, this one worse, was warned meal could take up to an hour, and it did even though 1/4 tables were empty! luckily was having a catch up and coffee with friends. Bland quiche, salad and coleslaw all served on a hot plate, warm salad and coleslaw unpleasant and inedible. Garden centre very reasonably priced though, will go again but not to the cafe.

Visited here yesterday, had cottage pie for lunch which was lovely but what happened to the vegetables, they were obviously frozen, so hard l wasn’t able to eat them so took them home for the chickens. As long standing customers who pop in for a bacon sandwich after shopping in Beverley, we were very disappointed today and won't be visiting again. At around 1 pm we were told these were no longer available after 11.15 am. Reluctantly we ordered one BLT and one sausage and mash. The sausage and mash was terrible, anaemic microwaved sausage, frozen, not even half cooked vegetables and very heavy mashed potato. My husband ate the sausage reluctantly and left the rest. My BLT was surrounded by far too many salad leaves, peppers, onions, cucumber, tomato and slightly spicy dressing, which spoiled the bacon taste. Altogether a very expensive mistake for poor quality food. We did complain to the waitress who never came back to us, so we left.

Shown the breakfast menu which is to be filled out and returned to the counter with your order and track n trace details. A good system..Nice pot of tea came quickly, soon followed by 2 excellent breakfasts. Plenty of beans for a change!!. In many cafes the portion of beans is measly. I was wondering if there was a bean shortage in the world. But not at Croft, a proper blazing saddles portion. We will return.

This little cafe has reopened after the government relaxation of lockdown. The safety processes in place for the cafe were sound including being greeted, safety rules explained, hand sanitisers and a new ordering process with table service. Tables are well spaced out and good for social distancing. You can eat in and depending on the weather eat in the outside section. The menu for food is a little limited at the moment but the staff have put on a couple of items on the specials board. Friendly service as always and what food we had was as good as usual. Would have been five stars were it not for limited menu. Thanks

On the whole a great garden centre but needs to make its mind up about the dog friendly area in the restaurant and commit one way or another. Three tables as you enter the restaurant where well behaved dogs and their owners are welcome but more often than not already occupied by customers with not a dog in sight meaning dog owners have to leave hungry and thirsty. Please either commit to saving these tables for dog owners only or not, in which case dog owners can take their custom elsewhere without having wasted journeys.

We were on route to our holiday home and it was time for lunch. We spotted this place and was very pleased we did. The staff in the cafe are friendly and welcoming and helpful with what was on offer. Food was cooked freshly to order and presented nicely. They have a variety of things to choose from including a specials board and lovely cakes on display. We didn’t wait too long for the food to arrive maybe longer than some other cafes but you do have to wait for food to be cooked - no one has a magic wand! The place had plenty of comfortable seating and play area to occupy children. It was clean and tables were tidied away regularly. It was very busy so, therefore, I assume quite popular. If you are of an impatient nature and can’t wait for food to be prepared maybe Macdonalds would suit better, though you really don’t have to wait that long!

I refer to the previous review from Suzanne R and think the giving a 2 star and poor service was a bit harsh. We come here regularly and it is a very busy cafe at times but the ladies who serve are so friendly and overworked, and the big queues are not their fault at the end of the day and nor is the wait for food the chef's fault as it is clear to see they are very short staffed. We enjoy coming here and will continue to do so but please can the management get more staff

Having often shopped in the garden centre and seen how busy the cafe was we decided to give it a go. As it was only 12.00 we thought it would not be too busy. There was only one lady on the counter, taking orders, sorting out drinks and dealing with queries, so it took some time to place our order. We then waited over 45 minutes for our food. My husband said his omelette was very good, but my leek and potato was nothing special. Instead of the roll which was on the menu, there was a slice of bread which was stale.Won't be doing back but I don't suppose this will worry them as the queue was out of the door by the time we left.

The food and coffee is nice but it can take up to 20 minutes to get served if there is only one member of staff on , not great if you are 76 with standing problems. The staff understandably not too friendly (not all) but the coffee is is good. It can get very noisy with children screaming in the play area so if you want a quiet lunch it may not be for you. Based on our last visit and a bit fed up of waiting as they are so short staffed we won't be coming again.

Poor customer service ..... add dirty and chipped crockery, a canteen atmosphere and bland food to the equation.... certainly not what paying customers should expect or deserve! I waited several minutes to order - there was only one person taking orders even though there were several in the kitchen and behind the counter. I ordered toasted teacakes and beans on toast. The assistant looked at the clock and declined my order of beans on toast as breakfast had finished at 1130..... it was 1132! I explained I’d been at the counter before 1130 and PLEASE could she accept my order as it was for my 88 year old mum and it was her birthday!!! She politely declined!! Not always fair to blame front of house.... maybe a Senior Management decision!!! But come on guys..... is this really how you should treat customers!?! You could toast teacakes but not a slice of bread for an elderly lady on her special day??! She could have her beans with chips... just not toast!! Bonkers! Take note of the negative reviews.... sort it or close it!!! It’s a shame because the Garden Centre is reasonably priced and carries a good range of goods but unless you address the cafe issues, it will have a knock on affect on people visiting.... these days they kind of go hand in glove. By the way, she had toast when we got home! Birthday Celebrations resumed!!!

Called in with my husband and ordered cottage pie. After Thirty Five minutes and growing concern as the other customers in there all seemed to have a complaint of one sort or another we were served with something that resembled School Dinners of old. The vegetables were cooked to a pulp so you couldn't really tell what they were supposed to be and tasted bland. The Cottage pie had been so overcooked that the mash topping had turned an alarming shade of brown so had to be put to one side to find the meat as you couldn't cut through it. The meat was like sawdust in texture and also bland. I can honestly say it was the worst meal out we have ever eaten . The lady at the next table also left hers and turned to me and said it was awful. The lady behind also left her meal and said on the way out to the young lady serving that it was so burnt she had to leave it and that was just an omelette !!!! Never again a waste of £14 out of our pension !!!

£4.25 for 1 slice of bread and a slice of congealed tasteless cheese and a greasy mushroom. These garden centres are earning a reputation for slow service and exorbitant prices for food lower in quality than a basic school meal of the sixties. The Watering Can is all flat and so easy to get into. Well the food was truly amazing especially for the price. It’s a cafe but we got restaurant quality food. We would of payed double this price in a pub or restaurant on Mother’s Day as everyone puts prices up. The food was steaming hot very unusual and very pleasing, very hearty portions too big for us but that’s not a complaint hahahahahaha pudding was so amazing the best sticky toffee pudding I have had. Price was unbelievable for the quality and size of portions. 10.00 each it cost us for a main course which was Sunday roast and a pudding either sticky toffee pudding and custard or a cake choices of coffee cake apple pie cream carrot cake lemon meringue and many more all very good portions and a drink. Well you can’t go wrong for 10.00 can you. 2 courses and a drink. The staff are amazing too nothing was too much bother very friendly and put leftovers in tubs for us and my mum had it all again for her tea she was well pleased hahahahhahaha. I don't know what it is but garden centres seem to be revamping their cafes, increasing prices but not quality. Still enjoyed our visit today-I had a very nice bacon, brie and cranberry sandwich but my wife had a sausage roll, which looked quite dense and she could not finish it-it was very hard to cut through and so she was disappointed. We shared a very nice sticky chocolate orange cake, so we finished on a high note.

Absolutely disgusting food!! I have been 3 or 4 times for lunch and all times I have left what I've ordered. The garden centre is local to us and it's a lovely garden centre. I do like to go and have a look round however I refuse to use this cafe anymore! This time I ordered a sandwich with a side salad...with a mouthful of salad in my mouth I thought it tasted funny and as I looked down my plate was covered in mud!! I took my plate back up and the woman behind the counter asked the cook in the kitchen what it was to which he replied "erm pesto" and started laughing with someone else! I couldn't believe how rude he was! And the fact he was taking the mickey about it!! I asked for my money back which was given but that was it! There was no apology, nothing else offered nothing! I wish I had complained higher now but at the time I just wanted to leave. Would strongly recommend that you don't waste your money in the cafe! My 1yr old could cook better than that "chef"

Please and thank you cost nothing - yet Jenny managed to take my order and money without saying either. Come on Cherry Lane - you can do better than this. Give the cafe staff some customer service training and teach them a few basic manners!

I normally keep my mouth shut and do not write any bad comments about any restaurants but this was terrible. We were very hungry so we decided to stop at Cherry Lane cafe shop for an easy and quick lunch but our lunch took more than 30 minutes. It felt like they were cooking proper meal but it was only cheese and ham panini. Very poor service!!! Next time we will just go home as even with travel time we will eat quicker.

I was recently part of a party of approximately 14 people who had booked a Christmas lunch here, and although I initially wondered how such a party would be catered for in a garden centre cafe environment, I have to say that the experience was great in every respect. The 2 course traditional Christmas meal (3 courses were available) was served promptly upon our arrival, and the food was well cooked, of good quality and plentiful. Service was informal, speedy, and very friendly, and I have no hesitation in recommending Croft Cafe & Bistro as excellent value for money.

We have been disppointed on our last two visits to the cafe, as meals were not the usual hugh standard but today was excellent. We went for afternoon tea and it was delightful. Four choices of sandwich, delicate with crusts cut off. Nice scone, with clotted cream/jam, coconut cake and lemon cvake, made up the tea, with a nce cuppa. Very impressed-obne of the best we have had.

My friend and I came here for the afternoon tea offer... £10 for 2 people. We got here about 2.20pm as it says on the voucher it's from 2.00pm. It was very busy and there was a bit of a wait. One of the staff members came over and told us they had ran out of fruit scones. When we looked around, the majority of people in the cafe were having afternoon tea so no surprise really. We were asked if we wanted a savoury scone instead. We agreed to this and we're really glad we did. It was a herby, cheesy scone, toasted with butter. We both really enjoyed it. Sandwiches, chocolate brownies, lemon drizzle and our scones. My top tip is get there early. They were telling people by 2.50pm that they had ran out! Excellent value and can't wait to return.

I take my elderly mother to the Croft every week. It is situated within a large Garden Centre, which in itself is well worth a visit. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the staff very helpful and courteous. There are several different seating arrangements in the spacious well illuminated eating area. There are 4 seat booths, 2 seat tables with soft back chairs, normal square tables that are often placed together to create larger seating arrangements. Recently they have installed several coffee bar style stools/tables.The food is cooked to order and generally served very quickly. The deserts are excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. There is also a customer loyalty card facility.Whether you are a couple wanting to spend an after noon browsing, and wanting to have a quick snack. Or a family that would like a reasonably priced main meal, they can cater for all. My mother and I have frequented the croft for a couple of years and would recommend it without reservation.

We want to the garden centre today from market weighton just because I had a voucher for afternoon tea for two for £10 .It was an awful day raining so thought we would go for this even though a good 10miles away. I checked the voucher for date and time . It states to come after 2pm which we did but on arriving was told this does not include Saturday's and Sunday's .The assistant stated that the voucher did not state this and that it was a printing error they could not put right. Very disappointed and a waste of time and petrol. People do work all week days. So voucher no good for us .

We decided to call for our lunch at Croft Cafe Bistro and had a pleasant suprise to find this Cafe has had a makeover in fact its still not finished properly but they are up and running. It is all very nice and an improvement on how it was last time we were there. We had a jacket potato each which were a bit disappointing as they could have been hotter but was very nicely presented and the fillings were good. Would definitely go again as we do like this place.

Revisited last week after the recent refurbishment. Very pleasant surroundings and reasonable meals in terms of quality, range and portion size. Especially useful location if you want to miss the town centre parking nightmare. Has a deli as well as being a garden centre. Look out for the specials and the fish and chips. I had a pulled pork and cheese burger special with salad and coleslaw - very satisfying. So were the cakes!

Cafe was relatively quiet when we visited so I was surprised when we still had a good five minute wait to be served. Staff were pleasant when we were served at counter. Chose two prawn salads and a prawn jacket potato. All were nice, reasonably priced and they arrived within a reasonable time. Sausage roll had chorizo in which was tasty. Sat outside to eat as it was a nice day but it's a shame there isn't a higher barrier (perhaps floral/planted/showing some items available in the centre?) between the cafe and car park to add to the outside area. Enjoyed our visit but feel this is not quite on a par with a couple of other garden centre cafes in the area, hence the three stars. Seem to be plenty of bargains in the garden centre - well worth a browse and a visit.

We visit the Garden Centre at least twice per week, and always have something from the cafe. Depending on the time of day determines our menu choice, from a full breakfast to just a portion of the home made cakes we always find something to our taste. The staff are all very efficient and caring. Since the completion of the refurb, the cafe has a more relaxing atmosphere, and weather permitting we can enjoy our meal al fresco in the outside dining area. A definite recommending visit is all I can say.

Four of us visited after a walk. Two were pleased with their meal. Myself and friend were disappointed by the pie of the day, which was meat and potato. Yet again it was served in a dish, which I don't like. I want a bottom to the pie, otherwise it is like stew with a top. We akso prefer shortcut pastry. The puff pastry exploded into nothing, when you tried to cut it. The other strange thing was , it was served with chips, however the potato in the pie was mini chips, so meat and chip pie with chips-weird.

I was so shocked I couldn't speak it was absolutely disguisted wish I had taken a photo. I have eaten here numerous times as have all my family and could not believe what had been served to me.
