Crispins Fish Bar in Medway

Since my last review earlier this year I'm glad to say their back on track, snappy service, crispy batter, nice chips mushy peas great. Well done all the staff, as Arnie would say, I'll be back.

Amazing service, always polite and very good food

Love the traditional fish and chips, especially the pensioner special! So tasty and such good value!! A friend also loves the scampi they do! Best in Medway!!!

OUTSTANDING service from such a lovely and very witty lady! GREAT fish with super light and crispy batter. Fish cooked perfectly. ‘Proper’ chips washed down with a sneaky spam fritter. It’s often said that “First impressions last the longest.” Well, as first time visitors to Crispins Twydall Green, we are truly smitten. It’s taken us a while to settle in to our new home and we will always travel in search of the best food. The news is that Crispins is just a short drive away! We WILL return. Blessings to you all.

Just had lovely fish and chips from here! Fish was thick white flakes, batter was crisp and tasty! Chips was crispy and soft in middle! Great!

One of if not the best chippy in the area,grew up just across the road from here and always drive back to Twydall from Rainham for fish and chips.

We just have order for a very first time from this place and the chips was absolutely awful they was so soggy and filed with oil I have order a spicy burger and they just gave me a normal chickens burger first and last time ordering

Chips were soggy burger sauce was old had the consistency of cheese and customer service was poor.

Sad to say standard has dropped paper thin batter on the fish gone are the days when we first ate here understand the prices but not the reduction in quality

Cod is nice but shocked as to how small it is now and the portion of chips also, same price but almost a third less.

So you make sense of this, a three peice chicken meal costs a specific amount but when I asked for 3 chicken breast peices they said not as a three peice only as separate paid, but it doesn't say that on the board or the menu, at this point, they had nothing cooked but I didn't want to wait as their service counter is directly over and next to their wrapping paper, people were resting on the service counter leaning over with their mouth directly over the service paper they were wrapping other peoples food in so when they were spluttering and coughing the contents of their mouth, lungs and chest were ending up being wrapped up with other people's food, I explained this and the older service lady got the hump, strange realy, their food hygiene certificate rating which is quite highly rated is proudly shown on the wall so you would think they would understand my concern, but obviously not, so it was kind of like getting a service contract for a mobile phone or sky on one hand i,e you can have a 24 month contract but you can't pay for it in one go even though this is the agreement because the government might change the interest rates so we'll have to charge you more, and on the other hand it was like you should expect other people's spit in your food, it was a very unsettling experience 🤔 so I walked out hungry and confused.

Used Crispins tonight after a few visits to other ropey establishments, and oh my goodness! Perfect chips, food was piping hot - all 6 of us were very impressed - this will now be our fish and chippy!

Gone down hill chips are not very good dry and taste like warm ups been going there for years chips dont seem to be cooked fresh.

Absolutely lovely place to go and get food, the people that work there are also very polite. Younger ones said 'the sausages tasted really amazing'. For us, the fish was spot on too👌 Definitely worth the drive out if you fancy some fish and chips etc. Portions are more than generous too. No complaints at all from us here. Thank you 🙂

An OK chip shop, but does great fish and chips.

Tried Crispins for the first time, I can safely say it will be the last. Had battered sausages, fish and chips. The fish cooked to order was a good size and hot. The batter on the sausages and fish though left a lot to be desired. It looked and tasted burnt. The chips although a good portion size were soggy, greasy and looked as though they had been cooked in weeks old oil. Prices were good, but I definitely do not recommend this place and won't be trying again.

Had to change my last review as food has been bad the last four times so will be going elsewhere. Chips are very greasy, overcooked and have to rake through all the bad ones just to get an average of a quarter that is edible. Fish has got smaller with more overcooked batter on it. Pies are overcooked, dried out and hard. Sausages in batter are cheep mush and tasteless. The last two kebabs we've had the meat tastes like is has been reheated in a water bath in the microwave and gave us very upset stomach. The portion sizes have got much smaller and the prices have gone up. Young girls at the till smile and are polite but the older staff are stone faced and do not make you feel welcome. So had enough of this place and friends and our kids agree we won't be wasting our money here anymore.

Disappointed, too much batter on a good size medium cod. Also prefer chips what I would consider as a clean type & and cooked for longer as they were a tad soft.

Crispinns is my favourite fish and chips spot in Medway. Amazing chips, chunky cut and perfectly cooked every time! Best to call and order ahead for things like fish so you don't have to wait outside while it's cooked.

The fish was so over heated. There was no fish left in it. However the chips were nice

When you order fish and chips you get loads of bits instead of chips and jumbo cod is all crackling. For what they charge terrible value. Stop selling old chips and cook them fresh before you open.

This is a very popular chip shop which serves the local community with a good choice of food options at a fair price. I have enjoyed many take aways from Crispin's Fish bar and have always received good friendly service. The food is good with generous portions, and in my opinion the chips are the best in the area. They also do OAP meal deals.

Absolutly shocked at the quailty of the cooking , I would say its safe to say its not normal oil being used for the cooking it leaves the chips dry and hard . Chips should be golden brown these however are like being cooked old used motor oil The food is dry tasteless and tough Time for a new chip shop Cant blame covid for this better to close than serve **** even the Dog wouldnt eat it and he licks his own bum

5 portions of fish and chips tonight. The batter was rock hard, fish dry. Chips were the worst I've had. Spent most of the time trying to find good chips amongst the bad. Don't normally complain but not worth the money.

Recent low star reviews don't seem to understand how chips should taste from a proper chip shop. These were exactly as I'd expect. Didn't try the fish but advertised as fresh. 3 sizes of chips which seem pricey but are very generous. Staff friendly as well. Off road car park available.

This is honestly the worst chippy we've ever had. The chips were disgusting, they were overdone, re-fried, lots of black bits in, just awful. The cod was dry, the batter hard and cooked in old, dirty oil. The cod bites were mainly batter with the tiniest bit of fish in. It all went in the bin, will never use again.

We've moved to the area recently so this was the first time we've visited and we were very impressed. We were recommended it by friends and they weren't wrong. On a busy Saturday evening we were served quickly by the very friendly staff. The food was delicious. I order the same thing every time and I never normally finish it all but this time I did.

Really wanted to try Crispins fish bar after work. Got to the shop at 9:30pm which I thought was enough time before it shut at 10pm. Only to find it was shut and they were clearing up. Toke my money elsewhere.

Probably THE best fish & chip Shop in the Medway; been using them for several years and have never had a bad meal. Friendly efficient Staff, and the cook deserves a medal. Friday late afternoon through evening can be hectic but any wait is well worth it.

I drive passed a number of other Fish and Chip Shop to go to Crispins, as they are simply the best around. The food is delicious, and unlike plenty of other nearby chip shops they're not really greasy. Nice friendly staff and good size portions.

The chips were hard and burnt. Fish and chicken was rubbery. Really disappointed as we had food from here a few months ago and it was great. Won't be using them again.

Over cooked fish, no taste, chips the same. Thought this place was top notch. No !!
