Beautiful location and great interior. The staff work hard and make you feel welcome. We shared the cold seafood platter, popcorn shrimp and chips and there was well more than enough. Plenty of seafood on the platter including a huge crab. Really pleased with the whole experience. Only negative - Draft beer (Estrella) was the most expensive we have paid in Cornwall for any draft(£7)

We decided to give this place a try for the first time. Very disappointed with the food. Fantastic views from the garden! We called a member of staff and addressed the issue, she’s said she would call a manager, we waited 20 minutes plus, no one came. Was all paid online as you scan a QR code to order and pay for everything before it arrives so it wasn’t like we could request a refund or dispute when they brought the bill. Restaurant was busy inside but not outside and plenty staff could have helped us but were all inside. Waved a few staff members down but ignored. We left all our food as all the prawns were covered in eggs and we were not eating that! Very expensive.

Lovely place with a great view of the bay. Loads of seating, loved the paint effect on the benches. Service was absolutely top notch, so lively and chatty, kept us fully informed about delays, offered other options, put up with my daft menu choices, it was a breath of fresh air from the busyness of polzeath

The prices are now utterly nuts. Used to eat here all the time and I don't know if they put up prices for the summer but £26 is the minimum for a fish dish and most normal dishes are £26-29. What???? Even a chickpea tagine is £22. This is a beach cafe next to a camping site and it is charging more than the expensive meal in London I had last week. I am so disappointed.

Terrible service. Came here for breakfast and waited 1 hour for 6 coffees and 2 fried eggs. When we went up to the bar to check on our order we were met and unbelievably rude manager who refused to acknowledge our presence there. There was no apology for the wait once our order did arrive and despite the presence of some lovely waiters and waitresses the whole experience was totally let down by management. Would not recommend and despite years of loyal visits we are now unlikely to return.

An unfortunately disappointing experience at the Cracking Crab. The service, while a little slow to start, was prompt and warm. We opted for the Fruits de mer with half a lobster, and sadly this was one of the most disappointing seafood meals I have had. The lobster, clams and mussels were incredibly bland, while the prawns and shrimp had signs of freezer-burn. The crab was fine, but nothing special. The seared scallops were good and well charred. I don't think we'd come back here unfortunately.

Very disappointed we ordered the fruits de mer. plus the lobster. Everything including the mussels came out cold. Apart from 2 warm scallops No dressing No thought just two tubs of mayo and cocktail sauce complete cop out. The crab nor the lobster where dressed. And although we all love aunatural the remainder of the shell food had it been served warm or at the very least with a dressing or sauce would gave saved the day. The only item on the plate that wasnt cold was the salad and that was limp and dry and again NO DRESSING ... the whole plate was taken item by item direct from the chiller straight to plate... we left most of it on the plate unable to face it. At these prices you expect the quality and attention. Great situation with fantastic views . Service was perfect.

I booked for dinner with my wife, we arrived about 8.15, were sorted to by staff quickly and service throughout the night was good. The meal started relatively well with starters, i had fried prawns which were decent, light ish batter which was not over cooked, i could still taste the prawns so they were nice, my wife had mackeral which was a good portion size but food taste was so overpowered by the red pesto which was dumped all over the bowl. Moving onto the mains the food was a huge dissappintment however. Simply put, it is not worth the price you're paying. I had monkfish, decent portion size of fish, but all i could taste was the salty streaky bacon it was wrapped in, sauce was tasteless. The worst part was the mashed potato that came on the dish, it was dreadful. it was dry and had developed the hard crust on the outside that mash does when it's been stood under lamps for a long time or reheated. for nearly £28 for that course alone i expected considerably better. the menu said our mains came with our choice of vegetables or salad, we were not given a choice, we were told it comes with fries and a selection of vegetables, when we asked they said it comes vegetables only. The fries were soft, mushy and dry as if they had been cooked and left out for a long time or reheated in a microwave or something. The vegetable bowl that came, the only way to describe it was hilariously bad, and we had to laugh at it for the price we were paying. It was a wet soggy sloppy bowl, it consisted of 3 slices of corgette, 10 peas and a full bowl of leaks, which were so sloppy and over cooked we didn't eat any after trying them. Overal, good service, food leaves so much to be desired, and costing just under £60 for 2 main courses, you should receive better quality food. I would not return for food again and wouldn't reccommend

First thing, the food was absolutely sensational. A massive Fruits De Mer sharing platter with half a lobster - incredibly fresh, plentiful, and well presented. It was not very busy when we came in, but service was non existent. We were told to order through the app, which I suppose is quite normal for many places these days, but there really was no connection with the staff, no welcome, no interaction at all. Even on the way out, no thank you for coming etc. Toilets were filthy. Men's and women's. There was a baby changing facility in the women's toilet only which was so high up on the wall you had to be about 6 foot to use it. The door to the women's toilet was so dirty when you pushed against it it was sticky to touch. I think we'll try somewhere else next time.

The manager was really lovely and agreed kindly to move our table time but that was where the highlight of the experience ended. The food was mediocre. The only veggie dish on the menu cost I can imagine around £1.50 to make and is something and is something I would knock together on a lazy day. The starters arrived 10 mins after the mains with no apology, i had already finished my main meal. The desert was so ething you would expect in a Weather Spoons. The staff all looked nervous, there was no friendly conversation. Atmosphere was stressed. We waited 10 mins to choose desert and couldnt catch a waiters eye to get the bill. I have managed restraunts my whole life and it is clear this place has got lazy and too cocky for its own good. Go to the Atlantic Hotel or the Mowhay if your staying in Polzeath, you'll get a more genuine experience and actual vaue for money.

I ate her with my son at lunchtime. We really enjoyed the food. We ordered a few starters to pick at, with some chips. We were not disappointed. Our dog was fussed over, too. She was given plenty of attention, strokes & a couple of dog biscuits. It was pricy but as it was just the two of us & we were celebrating Mothers Day late, it was entirely worth it. It is a good, decent sized menu with a separate specials board. Asian fusion meets more traditional options. Kids menu available with a nice choice of meals, not just the old chicken nuggets/ fish fingers. I love the location of the crooked inn. It is right by the A38 but looks out over the green fields above Notter Bridge and beyond. We sat in the conservatory as it was a lovely sunny day. The lady who served us was lovely, friendly & accommodating. The toilets were well decorated, clean & well stocked with toilet roll & hand wash! We are local to the area, so we weren't using the hotel facilities, so I can not comment on that side of the business.
