Rang to try book for 4 people for dinner. The lady on the phone was so rude & unhelpful decided not to spend my hard earned money with them. Suggest they perhaps try some customer service/manners training. I stand by my post about the rudeness on the phone. Such a shame you don't recognise how rude you were. The others in the party heard the call & agreed on the review also.

Two outstanding dinners here while on holiday. Interesting menu which sets it apart from other restaurants in the area. Friendly service and nice atmosphere – busy but they don't do multiple seatings, so you don't feel rushed. Kids generously catered for. Could do with a slightly wider range of beers, but that's a small criticism in what was otherwise a great experience.

We had a lovely welcome, being at the mercy of the taxi we arrived early, Mel explained that we might have wait for our order to be taken as there was a big table a head of us but we could have drinks while waited. The atmosphere was buzzy but cosy and the staff just the right level of friendly. The scallops were to die for, the battered fish and chips equally delicious, my only disappointment was the dessert, my cheese cake had an artificial taste to it. Overall our visit was five star, thank you for a fantastic night, as a local , I need to visit more often, my visiting friend may well want a revisit next time they are down.

Just returned from our evening at the Plough: interesting. Service was good, food generally was reasonable if over priced for the level of quality. The atmosphere was cosy, but we were sitting with a direct line of sight into the kitchen: mistake. I was distracted with kitchen staff repeatedly waving a floor mop in the air near the food prep area, as well as another one spraying cleaning liquid and rubbing with cleaning rags on the ceiling in the same area. I completely understand the need to keep your working kitchen as clean as possible, but the staff really should complete the work BEFORE to start prepping and serving, earlier in the day, and not in front of your paying customers.

This place was nice enough - the food was good and the interiors / general atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. Just a word to the wise on ordering drinks - we ordered 2 orange and lemonades (usually a cheap drink) and they were charged at £6.75 each! The staff advised they charged individually for both the orange juice and the lemonade but I’ve never heard of this elsewhere and I feel that this should have been advised when we ordered. If I’d known I would’ve had a glass of wine instead - it would’ve cost less!

First impressions count! Being fully booked on an out of season Thursday evening is usually a good sign. The service was swift - but not rushed, our waitress had good knowledge of the wines being offered and also let us know what the daily specials were. Our food order was taken promptly after our drinks arrived. After a short wait, our food arrived - all freshly prepared and cooked by the chef, a real credit to this establishment. You can always tell when someone takes pride in what they do and the food here was excellent! The dishes were clean, and the plating was obviously done with care, each meal looked well presented without looking pretentious. Desserts were just as good as our mains, all homemade, tasty and beautifully presented. Overall, an excellent experience. I will definitely be returning again.

Recently we were booked in for a celebratory meal - expectations were high after reading your reviews. I was expecting high standards of food preparation. As it was a Sunday it was limited menu, we (there was many of us) all chose the traditional roast dinners. We were very disappointed, although there was a good amount of meat (beef and pork) on the plate and cooked well, it was cold, gravy was thin ( like water ),vegetables were ok apart from the cauliflower cheese which was curdled!, roast potatoes looked like they were reheated and only had 3 very small potatoes on plate, overall very poor and @£19 per head definitely not worth it, really disappointed and feel this was very overpriced for what you received and very poor quality.

So good that whilst paying the bill we booked to come again the following night (despite having planned to eat at our holiday cottage) and somehow had an even better evening. The staff had prepared for our five year-old son returning and seated us right next to the fire, with some ‘special’ kids cutlery, and greeted him by name - which all made him feel like the king of the pub. The Plough This place isn’t good, it’s outstanding! Mel & Mark used to be the proprietors of the Ancient Mariner in Looe. For those of you who know, or do your research they won a number of awards for their food! Voted for by customers. Without them, Looe lost out on a great couple, a great chef and great food! As covid set in it was apparent that Looe had forever lost outstanding food! Then along came the Plough, with new owners in the form of the above aforementioned! A much larger venue than their last required a number of additional staff. As you walk in you can’t miss their 5 Scores on the doors award! You are then greeted by a sign asking you to wait to be seated. A couple of minutes would have been acceptable for a busy restaurant, however we waited about 10 seconds! The customer service remained high throughout! The menu was varied with a number of daily specials too. If you can’t find something for everyone in your group I’d be surprised! The food comes at a decent pace allowing a reasonable time in between courses, but not too long. The food itself (the main event) is outstanding! Somehow better than that they were producing in Looe (or maybe it’s just because it’s been sooo long). Is it cheap no, but it’s far from expensive, especially considering the quality. You get what you pay for and more. There are other places that used to be good, that are now selling substandard quality food at much greater prices. In summary IF YOU want GREAT food and a good price, with EXCELLENT customer service and in a great setting there is no better place to come! This is what Looe has been missing since the Ancient Mariner closed! How long before their first award? It can’t be long in coming! Some of these reviews make me wonder where people are, or what their true motive is!

We were visiting relatives in Duloe when we discovered the Plough had reopened, our last few visits last year were fantastic, great food, great pub, great everything. So we hoping that the new owners had continued with the same theme. It's safe to say we were sorely disappointed! The drinks available were not as local or varied as previously experienced, the food was mediocre at best, the fish I had was oily and the batter overcooked, my wife's and parents meals were little better! The prices are steep for what you get, £9 for a sticky toffee pudding! We finished our meal around 9.30pm and the place was dead, nothing like it used to be, full of locals and visitors alike enjoying a great country pub! It's sad to see what was once a great pub going down hill.

We were really pleased to return to The Plough Duloe and meet their new staff. We previously found the experience at the pub a bit hit-and-miss. But we found only positives as a result of the change of hands! From starters to drinks to mains, everything was fresh and brilliant quality - all served hot and neatly presented. Could not recommend it more - just a shame we are only in town for the week. When we visit next, we’ll be back for sure!

Made a reservation only to turn up to a dark closed pub! We were only asked to confirm our booking two days prior. We had driven miles for this meal and were left disappointed and hungry! No call or email to cancel our booking or communication from the establishment since. AVOID!!!!

Lovely little village pub with locally sourced food which tastes great. I would definitely recommend and return to this pub, it has a lovely family run atmosphere to it.

Really great food and a cute small town pub. Would definitely recommend dinner here if you're in the area. All locally sourced ingredients and it shows.

I couldn't possibly say enough good things about the Plough. The food was exquisite and the servers really did go the extra mile for us. 10/10 will have to visit again when we are next in Cornwall.

A wonderful evening at our favourite place to eat. The new winter menu is just lovely. Well thought through and super tasty. As always brilliant service, and a true cornish welcome. Thank you Team Plough xx

Booked in for dinner on a recommendation from our hotel, really glad that we went. The pub itself is really lovely - log fire, exposed beams and cheery staff. We had the mackerel paté and soup (cauliflower and stilton). Both were excellent, and the mains didn't disappoint either - pork steak and mussels. Both were cooked to perfection. We were too full for dessert, so can't say much about that I'm afraid. Atmosphere is good, and the pub itself is clean. Staff were attentive to patrons without any fuss and the menu is very varied. I wish I had stayed longer so I could try some other items, and maybe even a dessert.

The food was decent but not worth the price, food was slightly lacking taste and could have been hotter!

Visited for a last minute evening meal. They managed to squeeze us in as we had not made a booking. Food came quickly though we felt it was lacking in quality for what it was charged. The food was pleasant but I have had better for less. Staff were friendly although we were asked by 3 different people if we were ready to order. Unsure whether this was due to staff miscommunication or due to the fact they were busy and needed our table to be vacated fairly quickly.

Went on a recommendation. Friendly and approachable staff who managed to fit us in despite not having a reservation. Very enjoyable main course and can recommend the curry option. Deserts a little dissapointing and limited veggie vegan choices on the night. Recommend you make a reservation as popular.

We pre booked this restaurant in advance for the half term holiday 2024. I got an email confirmation of the booking and a further email reminder which I confirmed as requested. On the evening we travel 5 miles to the restaurant to find it closed with no explanation on the door, website or social media. Communication with this restaurant is very poor

Fantastic place to visit, great food at good prices. Amazing location with great views from the venue, with the chance to sit there whilst having a drink or bite to eat and watching the small aircraft. Excellent service from the staff, with lots of different events on
