Crab & Winkle Public House in Peterborough

Visited here today, we did not feel welcomed the bar lady seemed in a rush very quickly spoken and short sentences, rushing about, when she did serve us at one point had her head resting on her hand, I would not expect this sort of service! food was ok small portions compared to other green king venues. We would not recommend this venue based on our experiance - not feeling welcomed was the main issue.

Went in out of the blue to watch the Saturday lunch time kick off. Ordered the small plates with friends. The service was excellent, and I good time was had by all. We'll done all the staff on Saturday.

I popped in with an old friend for a bite to eat and a few beers. Everything was great and the beer is well kept. Staff friendly and helpful. It was very busy and they managed well. Sticky table was only down side and that’s a first time after many visits

Can't fault it cheap beer and staff are efficient and friendly and people friendly

2 Beers in a cheery atmosphere, not too crowded but enough people to be lively.

Arsenal vs Brighton.... atmosphere was good, service was great from bar staff he was behind the bar on his own at points leaving a wait at points but nothing crazy. Had the steak sandwich, steak was really chewy and had to be taken out to actually eat it as part of the sandwich which was annoying but taste was nice, had the lava cookie for dessert, it was not a cookie or a cake it was a really weird texture more like partly cooked oats, taste was very unpleasant aswell as the texture

We came with the family today for a meal the food was hot and tasty I had the Lasagne and the kids had burgers. Will definately be back for another meal

I have previously given this place four stars, that was six years ago. Today 27 August was probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. We waited 45 minutes at a sticky table for what was described as a classic burger and chips, I suggest the so called chef might be more suited to a job at Marholm crematorium. The only saving grace is the barmaid/waitress was polite and pleasant enough. Won't be back ever.

The food is good value and staff are frendly. Discount on ale for camra members but half pint of Coca-Cola from a dispenser is £3.50 seems a bit on the high side tho'.

I thought the young lady that served us was very patient and polite and very helpful as I am on a GF and Dairy Free diet, so was asking so many questions with regards to food and drink, but she met my challenge and helped me find things at an ease.

Quick service ... however food was poor, my 8oz sirloin was 4oz of sinew, and had to order a side salad for something green on the plate .. 2.50 for a bit of lettuce was extreme. Sons honey burger was dry bar last bite that was drenched.

Gemma is a credit to Greene King always gives great service with a smile .... If there was an extra star she would get it...

Warm & friendly welcome. Managed to find a table (probably as we were early). Easy ordering. Only had soft drinks (driving). Food arrived quite quickly & hot. Very tasty 'Sunday lunch'...plenty on the plate, very much enjoyed but sadly l had no room for dessert. Recommend a visit.

Best green king pub in Peterborough

Nice pub, not big but well looked outside area, which is always a positive thing, especially when the sun is out! Bit pricey £6.10 for a bottle of cider is rather expensive, but overall, nice place to sit with a friends.

Poor menu, staff were lovely though. A couple of loudmouth drunks swearing at the football ruined it

I went for a smash burger the other day and everything thing was fantastic from the food to the service would highly recommend felt very welcome and was very fast service 10/10

First time at this venue as we had a family gathering due to a funeral. Lovely pub and friendly staff. A wide choice of drinks too. We all had food which was nice but my mum's lasagne did not not look very appetising . Very dry and overcooked. She does not like to complain, so she ate it. Tasted ok but didn't look nice. Overall a nice place but as a visitor, will probably not go there again.

Was greeted by Gemma and Solomon (mental name). They were so friendly and helpful. Clearly very busy but took the time to talk to us and tell us about any events that were occurring for example, quiz night on Thursday night etc. Really lovely time had by all of us 😀

Not a bad place but not amazing, pretty middle of the row. Decent food and the price is very good. When I went to order my food the gentleman at the bar was stuffing his face with food which didn't really please me and there were cobwebs in the corners of the building.

Arrived at the Crab AND Winkle and a fight was just being stopped. We ordered our drinks and told we couldn't order food as the chef was outside sorting out the person who started the fight. They said they would let us know when we could order... half a hour later we were told we could order. Food arrived my Lasagne was burnt round the edges and very bland, the Gammon was OK but not many chips, one of the burgers was very dry and the other one was lovely so my friend said. I was very disappointed as reading the reviews I was expecting good food!

preferred to order the fish and chips but were informed they had no fish otherwise a nice birthday pub grub treat! Friendly service too thanks 😊 🍻

Solid Greene King pub popular with locals. Food solid of unspectacular. Service was excellent

Chain pub with reasonable ales although pricey. Timothy Taylors bitter £5.05 a pint !

The staff were friendly, the service was fast, the cost was more than reasonable and I honestly think this may have been the best burger & fries I have ever had - and as someone who has spent a lot of time looking for the "perfect burger", this was probably the closest I have come to finding it! Will definitely come back whenever we're in the area again.

We only go day time it's nice venue. Not been on special event nights which we should booked and try.

Go there quite often for meal and drink. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food has always been very good. 👍

Popped in for some food, they were very busy but very friendly. I had scampi and the wife had lasagna, both very nice. Didn't have to wait too long either, staff working very hard, certainly worth a visit

I pop in most Wednesdays while my son is at a class next door. The staff are friendly, but the soft drinks are over-priced, and the music is too loud.

Sadly mixed grill uncooked cold burger not very tasty spent over £300 told staff not interested so won’t bother again could got better service at kfc

I really love this pub. It is always so friendly with a smile and the food and drinks are always good. It is one of our first options when we want to get a drink or food.

Pleasant enough pub on the edge of Peterborough

My group of 12 Red Hatters visited today. The staff were very welcoming, and the food was great value for money. Highly recommended.

After shopping very handy place to pop in for a bar meal and a drink. Friendly welcome and good service, handy free parking outside. Modern pub restaurant run by Greene King Brewery.

Absolutely lovely evening. Reasonably priced food and Andrew who served us was fabulous, very attentive and chatty. We will be returning again very soon....

Not much food for the money £12+ for a near kids meal. Can get twice the amount for less at a carvery.

Popped here for a bit of lunch after our spa day. Food was decent and came out in good time. Only disappointment was the lady at the bar seemed quite rude and moody.

Started using the crab and winkle with colleagues for a couple of years now after our previous and local pub the harrier became an awful place to visit. Always top service, nice food and drinks and never ever seen a spot of bother. Lovely friendly regulars and staff. Top marks.

We come in 3/4 times a week after work love the beer and the service here it's always great, we have eaten here this time and the food is hot and tasty

Good beer, great service, amazing food.

All staff friendly and helpful with fast service. We popped in on the way home as a family and had a really nice time it was busy with a nice atmosphere the pup style food was as you would expect for pup style food but at £32/34 to feed and water a family of 4 it’s a five star for value. Nice selection of non alcoholic drinks 👌🏻shame we had to leave before the band started.

Very skimpy on portion , had jacket potato, and paid extra for beans and cheese , well there was a very small spoon of beans and cheese not worth paying the extra . Coffee was not very nice either , tasted cheap

Food prices are very reasonable, decent menu available but just typical pub grub. Staff are friendly.

Great affordable food, but real bad dessert. So we got the chicken and ham pie (which is a pie for one - definitely hungry after sharing it) and it was so delicious and cozy. We were about to follow up with the beef & ale pie but the kitchen closed. We had ordered an apple & blackberry crumble pie for dessert, and it was so bad I frowned and didn’t eat a second bite. The crust was flavorless and dry and the filling felt jelly fake with bad flavor all around. We got it with the clotted cream ice cream which we were so excited for too, but it was gritty shaved ice vibes- meaning ice cream made wrong. Definitely not the same chef as the savoury pies, which have both won national pie awards. Amazing prices, at least after being in London lol - overall I definitely recommend! Kind friendly staff as well :)

Great service this week with a party in the pub and the staff were very busy. Always knowing who was next, with people also using the app to order.

The food is usually very good but on this occasion the fish and chips weren't up to the usual standard. Disappointing.

Invited on Facebook to watch cup final with 10% off with season ticket. Only to find out its not working 6 friends not happy maybe not trust this pub advertising method

Love the Crab & Winkle. But the new menu choice was very limited on the light lunch option. Used to have wraps, sandwich or bap. Now just ciabatta. It was nice but not keen on ciabatta when I have limited carbs. Salad options also not as good. Greene King obviously need to sort it

Three of us went for a meal at lunchtime. Its was busy which is always a good sign. Our meals arrived hot & well presented. We all agreed we would definitely return.

Went for a works lunch, we preordered the food, so the food was ready after we all order drinks. The food was good and the price was reasonable.

Good pub, everything you would expect of a pub, good prices, good selection of lagers and ales, we struggled to get a table but there still were a few free. Staff were very friendly. If anything it was a bit dark in the pub which would be fine in the evening but for a lunch it felt a bit dingy... Would visit again with mates, but wouldn't take the mother in law here!

Cracking roast dinner, just what I needed.

Came here with grand children, they had food , children's menu and main menu. Excellent food and arrived at the table very quickly. They both enjoyed the food. It was warm. Would recommend it

Have visited a number of times over the last few months with the family. Always good food, drinks and welcoming staff. Has everything you need in a pub.
