We didn’t have to put a deposit down ? Birthday meal with friends Excellent friendly service and food was good the size of the meals are more than enough . The staff even bought out the birthday cake with candles and sang happy birthday will be back for a visit real soon

Such a shame they want £20 up front to reserve a table. Unheard of! We went to the Ivy and they don't ask for payment to secure a booking. Imagine trying to get that back if you have the cancel the booking. Shocking!

Had Christmas meal today (17th December). It was absolutely amazing. When the menu said ‘with all the trimmings’ they weren’t kidding. Everything was also cooked to perfection. Thank you for a memorable Christmas dinner. We’ll be back soon.

The wife & I have been coming to The Crab & Anchor for many years & have always enjoyed an excellent meal. The menu is pretty extensive, beef, chicken, pasta, sea food & vegetarian so there really is something for everyone. We usually visit during for weekend lunch, we don’t book & have always managed to get a table OK but I suspect it may be busier during the evening. Located tucked away behind Morrisons in Southwood Village Centre. Great for large family groups or as a couple. The staff have always been polite & friendly. This is a great local independent restaurant & so much better than the pub chains. We will return again soon :O)

OMG what a find!!!, I had possibly the BEST fish and chips I’ve ever eaten, lovely and fresh, with herbs running through the batter, huge portion ( which regrettably I couldn’t finish), lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, definitely worth a visit

I can’t decide on 2 or 3 out of 5. This place used to be a regular for us but since Covid have only been back in on few occasions as has not been as good. Tried again this weekend, roast was tasty, other mains no longer come with vegetables so you have to pay extra, plates were not very well cleaned/dried, waitress rushed us through each stage of visit, didn’t pay any attention to what we were saying so wrong drinks on both rounds, the man who struts around is unfriendly and unhelpful. Tasty beef, tasty chicken, but no atmosphere (was very quiet for lunchtime), poor staff…. I assume other customers have given up too. Can get better elsewhere so we’re done with Crab and Anchor once and for all.

As locals we used to come for dinner most weeks pre-pandemic, having had years of fantastic meals with equally fantastic service, but some disappointing experiences afterwards stopped us for quite a while. We decided to book an early-ish Saturday dinner at 7pm thinking The Crab must be back to standard. Sadly this wasn’t the case. Despite a half empty restaurant and plenty of waiting staff, it took over 30 minutes before anyone took our drinks order and it continued like that. The nachos starter which used to be fabulous had a weird processed dip instead of real sour cream, and instead of salsa we had sweet chilli dip. Mains were over cooked but the chips with two mains were almost raw. We were asked if we wanted pudding and the waiter said he’d bring the board over; 15 minutes later he’s chatting with the barman and we’d had enough. Sadly for The Crab there’s more local choice now, with well trained staff, so that’s where we’ll be.

Delicious food and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Best banoffee pie ever. Will definitely eat here again.

This was my choice as I haven't been for a number of years as I live in Australia. I must say it didn't disappoint. We had a waiter who had a sense of humour and was joining in with some banter which was refreshing. I had scampi and it was lovely, my cousins had a chicken breast dish and Moules Mariniere which were both incredible. Would definately recommend. In fact I have booked again already...maybe I will see how many visits I can get in before I go back, try a few more things on the extensive menu..bravo Crab and Anchor.

Wow and not in a good way , I had a sea food grill ..too salty ,deep fried mussels were dried up and hard . It was our wedding Anniversary meal ,didn't want to make a complaint ,so when Marco came to see how our dinner was ,I told him how it was and said I'm hungry so eaten some of it, he shrugged his shoulders and said OK and walked off , no sorry for that . When we went to pay the bill husband said are you going to take something off as my wife didn't eat everything , he said well your wife saud she is hungry I will eat ,so you didn't give a chance to do anything , by this time I said to my husband don't worry pay for it its clearly my fault the food was bad and left .. very dissapointed no wonder the restaurant was dead !!!

When my friends come to visit me from Cambridge, I always bring them to the Crab & Anchor & we have always enjoyed ourselves. Today was no exception, the restaurant was very clean, the food was 1st class & the waiter service was excellent. They loved it, & can’t wait to come down again.

This was one of the most awful experience I've ever had. I went out for dinner with my family and with us was my 4 year old (who has special needs). The waiter took ages to take our order then with that our food took ages to come too. My child's food was last to come even when I ask for it to come as quickly as possible. The food was below average. After my child had finished his food he made a scream of delight with his Grandad who he was enjoying himself with. After this the waiter came up to me and said we don't expect behaviour like that in here and pointed my child and then asked us to leave. This was humiliation at its worst. We then asked to speak with the manager. The waiter had been told by the manager to tell us that my child wasn't well behaved which simply wasn't true. So I kept asking to see the management, the waiter then swore at me and told me to leave. The manager did end up coming and said he would only have this conversation outside which we agreed in the end. The manager then ended up being really rude and took a fighting boxer pose to my husband and dad like he wanted to fight them rather than talk. All in front of me and my very upset child. We walked away without getting our point across to say how humiliating it was and how out of order it was to be told to leave because toddler with special needs made a scream of delight. Also I wanted to ask why the two tables either side of us (all adults) wasn't asked to leave when the were a lot louder than us and we're swearing away. Don't come here especially if you have children.

I love this pub! All family (my husband and two teenage girls) really enjoy the food freshly cooked and very friendly atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and I definitely can mention a lovely lady that always looks after us and greets us with a smile (Buruka - I hope I remembered well!). We will go back tomorrow for my younger daughter’s birthday, I highly recommend this pub! Elena, Farnborough.

Firstly a warning, the restaurant has had a recent refurbishment so the interior does not look at all like the photos with the tables covered in pale formica making the interior look cheap and like a fast food cafe. So we were a little startled when we walked in but decided to stay and we are glad we did. It has the same extensive menu as online and all our food was excellent with good beer and wine, and all for a reasonable price. V cheerful staff and good service. So thanks, we all had a good evening, just not quite in the surroundings we expected.

Beautifully cooked food as always but so much wasted because our table was booked for 7.30pm. Our starters were a bit slow coming which was no problem but the main course didn't appear until 10 minutes to 9pm. By then I was too tired to do it justice.

Just had a superb meal at this restaurant. Three of us for dinner in a busy restaurant but I could not fault the service, quality of food, time taken to serve etc. The time between courses was set just right to allow us to digest one and be ready for the next without either rushing or waiting too long. The meals were outstanding and we left feeling really satisfied at the experience of this restaurant. We will most certainly visit this restaurant again. This is a really popular Pub/Restaurant. We arrived promptly at 14:00 but regrettably had to wait 5 or so minutes to be seated. Staff were warm, welcoming and full of apologies for the delay in getting us seated. The Crab & Anchor, though once a pub, is now very much a restaurant. The surroundings are pleasantly decorated, clean lined and has a friendly ambiance. The staff are friendly and attentive.We were a party of 5 adults who, apart 2 from having French Onion Soup, all had different items from the menu. I comment only on the dishes I ordered. That said, all of the items were well presented and plentiful !Instead of a main course, I ordered 2 starters: French Onion Soup and Butterfly King Prawn served in a Sweet Chilli Sauce.The soup was a disappointment. The soup itself was excellent. The disappointment was that it was served with a slice of cheese on toast rather than croutons. First time I have needed a knife and fork to eat my soup!! The Butterfly King Prawn was a delight to look at, delicious to taste and oh how I wished I had asked for them as a main course!.I finished the lunch wit Sticky Toffee Pudding. A delightful little dessert but does not compare with the one I makepersonally.

This is one of the best COVID-19 safe restaurants with distanced tables and staff all in masks as well as very high standards of cleanliness. The menu is extensive and the staff friendly and professional. The starter of deep fried Brie with cranberry sauce was exquisite and the tiger prawns in garlic sauce is out of this world. For main dishes try the large portions of duck or the seafood grill but a really unusual and special treat has to be crab and chilli linguine. We didn’t have desserts as we wanted to continue savouring the savoury choices. We ate a two course meal for four with drinks for £100. Excellent value. Customers are requested to wear face masks unless seated at their table. Can’t wait to visit again next time we are in the area. Recommend this as one of the best uk restaurants. A big thank you to the staff for a great COVID-19 dining experience.

We booked this restaurant by recommendation from trip advisors top restaurants in Farnborough as an end to a mini break- stopping on our way home from Longleat to Kent! We were blown away! The service was fast, lovely staff, social distancing adhered to fully and the meal was outstanding! We all left very happy.We have promised we will return to try other dishes - the menu offers so much! For quality and quantity, and lovely wine too, head here! Recommended without reservation.

We would highly recommend the Crab and Anchor. Following our wedding at Weybridge Registry office on 5th Sept 2020, we had dinner at the Crab and Anchor with our fabulous and very special friends that evening and were so impressed with the ambience, staff, service and food we returned again for lunch on 19th Sept. It was so lovely that Tomas remembered who we were when we returned for lunch and he greeted us with a huge smile. Tomas and the waitress who served us were both fabulous, very friendly and provided an excellent service. We'll be returning there again very soon.

Went out for a family Sunday lunch as we have many times here before. Ordered Nut Roast, 5 mins later informed although it is on the menu it is no longer available. Very limited vegetarian options on the menu.

Went for lunch today with my parents, as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, and it was great. All the food was delicious and came out at a good pace. The waitress we had was one of the highlights of the visit, she was so friendly and attentive and gave great customer service. I wish I had got her name. We didn't feel rushed, but also didn't feel we were hanging around waiting. I do think that in normal times the prices are little high, however during the scheme it was a good price overall.The measures put in place due to C19 were great. Spaced out tables and plastic screens between any that were slightly close.The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is the parking. As it was busy, there were no parking spaces left and as it seems to share some of the area with Morrisions click and collect, there were people parked for that and Morrisons vans in some of the other spaces. When I told the man at the front desk he didn't really seem to care. To reiterate, the service and food in the restaurant was great but they really need to sort out the parking issues at busy times.

I visited the Crab & Anchor on Monday evening the 10 August with my friend. It was our first visit to a Restaurant since before lockdown! We were a little apprehensive, but we didn’t need to be! It was so well organised, everyone seated well apart. The service & the food were excellent, and we went home very happy, because it felt ‘normal’ just like pre-lockdown daysI went with another friend yesterday for lunch & again we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, & again the staff are all wonderful, working hard but happy-so well done Crab & Anchor!

Brilliant food, drinks, service eating in and as a takeaway too! Always top quality, generous portions! They cater to date nights, family meals, birthdays, couples nights out and never fail to look after everyone! Couldn’t recommend it more 😊

We decided to try the Crab and Anchor for the first time as it had such great reviews. Sadly, it did not live up to them! We had lunch here on a not very busy Saturday. My partner ordered chicken and prawn noodles. At the price they charge I expected to see at least a couple of prawns, instead there were a handful of tiny shrimps. I made a mistake (the menu is far too big) and ordered their burger. It was awful. No taste to the actual burger...... it could have at least been homemade. It hadn’t rested properly so was oozing with fat and juices and the tiny bun hadn’t been toasted so I had a completely wet burger bun :((The waiting staff were excellent, polite and friendly. Not sure I’ll return for a second visit though.........

Food was very good, we all happy with our meal. With the government scheme the staff were pushed, it wasn't a lack of trying but a long time between placing order and receiving items. More direction/prompting from management would have solved this. Having said this all staff including management were lovely and food will have us returning.

So glad Crab and Anchor has reopened. Took my Dad out as a treat, his 1st trip out since early March. It was busy, but staff friendly as always, excellent service. Topped off with excellent food. My husband and Dad had the Cod and chips which they thoroughly enjoyed. The cod was really large and chunky. I had the chicken supreme with brandy and pepper sauce, again excellent. Chips lovely and crispy on outside and fluffy inside. One way in , another way out to try and help with the distancing. Tables changed a bit to give more space. Great evening, been here alot and never a bad meal.will be back.

Always welcomed by a fantastic team who can’t do enough to ensure you’re comfortable, well fed, well watered and having an fantastic time! Nice selection of beers, cocktails and wine. Food is top notch with a lovely selection and great specials - especially washed down with a lovely Rioja. We thoroughly recommend and will be returning.

Excellent service from when the host met us at the door to paying the bill.Highly recommend the beef Wellington , perfectly pink in the middle.They have clearly remove many tables as there was plenty of space.The notable incident was strawberries on my wife's desert. She is allergic and we forgot to tell them but they replace it without the slightest hesitation or problem. Disappointment from start to finish!Let me start with I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions before this one, including a take away during lockdown. The food has always been great quality, portions a generous size, the service polite and friendly and we’ve left feeling really happy with the experience and looking forward to our return. We’ve also recommended the place to friends too. when the ‘eat out to help out’ was announced, we thought this would be an ideal place to visit. You live and learn!We booked an outside table and the new server was very helpful to get us seated. A further 6 or so tables sat down after us but our food order (mains only) was taken first. Drinks took a little while to arrive but nothing too long. So our party of 5 including one primary school aged child sat and had our first catch up around a resistant table in ages.! And we chatted and chatted. And chatted some more... and some more... and watched EVERY other table around us receive their food. Checked with the server twice as to when ours was coming... ‘it’s just coming’ we were promised. One hour after ordering, my child is starving as he watches all these tables eating and is almost in tears. That’s hard for a parent to deal with. We request some fries and and these are brought out quite quickly. So ONE and a HALF hours after we sat down, we went to seek out the Manager in charge for the evening who apologised profusely, promised food would come soon and that to compensate for the poor service we would have our drinks bill taken care of for the evening and would we like more drinks?We don’t abuse this and order one beer and one soft drink...10 minutes later 4 out of 5 meals arrive. The £26.95 steak and chips meal was absolutely laughable! the size of the steak wasn’t specified on the menu and I understand now why this is. It was barely a child’s portion, maybe 5oz at the very most. It looked and tasted absolutely disgusting, dry and over cooked without one scrap of flavour. Best enjoy the chips then, all 12 of them! The replacement steak was cooked better but the meat was still tasteless.The vegetarian Wellington had no flavour whatsoever and was soggy. And as for meal 5.. well it didn’t turn up at all! Somehow one is the ‘special’ dishes of steak and risotto must have been too complicated? Or maybe it’s because we wanted it rare and they only know how to over cook dishes here?In case you are wondering about the beer and small bottle of water well yes it did arrive... just as all were finishing the meals.Which is more than can be said of the promised phone call from the manager in charge that night who asked for my number so they could invite us back to try them again and they could show us the service of old. 4 days later and alas it seems their promises are the same as the rare steaks you order from here. We had 1.5 rounds of drinks given to us without charge here and the substandard and missing meals were removed from the bill. We paid a total of £25 for the bill but I can honestly say that from my own personal experience, the £1.50 bag of popcorn I had for my own dinner at almost 930 was the best bit of food I ate that evening

Visited at the end of July. Food was amazing as always. We were very concerned about the lack of social distancing though. The staff would lean over us when serving drinks or food. They also leant over us to place down the cutlery, touching all the cutlery and getting far too close. Every other restaurant I have been to since they opened have served food and drink from the end of the table to be passed down. Cutlery has been left on a tray at the end of the table so social distancing was maintained. I really like the Crab & Anchor but don’t think I could bring my family back here now due to the lack of social distancing and COVID measures in place.

Because of lockdown and couldn’t go out for my birthday, my partner ordered 2 roast beef dinners for delivery and i was so impressed by the quality and quantity of the meal . Will certainly do it again

We have just ordered a take away for a family of 5,before this lockdown we used to eat at the restaurant quite alot as this is our favourite place to eat, fresh food, very tasty food and lovely staff. The food on the take away menu was hot and only took 45 mins to be delivered from placing the order, this is a difficult time for everyone at the moment and this was something that we all were looking forward to as a family, we will be doing this again, cant praise this restaurant and staff enough, stay safe you all are doing an amazing job

We had our second delivery from our favourite restaurant and once again it was ecxellent. Thank you for what you are doing at this difficult time in our lifes. Keep up the good work and we will carry on and support you.

I wanted to so much support the Crab and Anchor, during this difficult time. I ordered Sunday lunches for 3 people to be delivered. The first Sunday the meals were lukewarm. Last Sunday the meals were freezing cold. The chicken stuffed with brie, was rock solid and extra veg consisted of 1 carrot and 1 piece of greenery. The chicken had to be thrown away. The lasagna and 3rd meal also. I emailed the C&A to let them know, I did not ask for or expect a refund. But I live close enough to expect piping hot food to be delivered.No one has even bothered to answer my email. So my intentions of treating my family to a Crab and Anchor Sunday lunch for the next 12 Sundays, is cancelledSorry I wanted to support you, but you have let yourself down.
